@chillichillioil thank you ☺️ yeah they cost a fortune don't they! Our last free one before 12 week is next week so I might book one private one in between all being well. Bet you can't wait to see yours, won't be long!

@ThatsTooFantastic yeah I feel tight chested like I can't get a full breath. Hopi f it subsides soon because it's really annoying and making me feel quite tired

chasingtherainbow1 · 18/08/2022 11:33

Also I'm 7 weeks today and only getting mild nausea and food aversions. Anyone else not got it in full force yet?

alwaysseeingstars · 18/08/2022 11:41

@CinderellaFant I'm sorry to hear you're still bleeding, although it may very well still be fine so I'm keeping everything crossed for you and sending hugs. Are you going to see anyone about it?💗
@DBS94 I'm a coffee and diet coke addict... I've switched my gold blend to the decaf (tastes similar in my opinion) and the decaf diet coke isn't too bad so I try to alternate between that and normal diet coke!

ThatsTooFantastic · 18/08/2022 11:53

@DBS94 good question/reminder!
I have worked from home since the pandemic as has my partner, and we have been coffee mad! It’s like every hour usually. Last week when I was away with family I was so focused on not drinking alcohol and trying not to raise suspicions I totally forgot about caffeine, I was chugging the Pepsi max like a “sensible” teetotaller… Mini freakout when I realised there’s caffeine in it… Luckily my folks have been on the decaf for years, so that was available, but not ideal in a heatwave. Personally I find decaf tea a bit rubbish, so I’m on the decaf nespresso knock-offs (shops own, instant but not granulated). It’s ok.

Weirdly, even though I’ve been knackered, I haven’t been fancying a cuppa as much, which is fine! All could change though, especially as we move into Autumn (🤞🏼).

I think as PP have said, switch to decaf or change up your usual beverages if you can stomach it (easier said than done - never took to herbal teas myself). Unless you’re having a dark choc or coffee-based desert I wouldn’t worry too much about caffeine in food, but I’m not a healthcare professional!

Hope everyone had a good sleep, so so sorry to hear of people’s losses 💔

ThatsTooFantastic · 18/08/2022 11:56

@chasingtherainbow1 Really hoping it eases soon! As you say, it’s not just annoying, it’s an added unnecessary worry. Also a bit irritating when “deep breaths” are suggested as a calming tool and it’s like “yeah that would be ideal, but…”
xx

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 12:00

Thanks @chillichillioil , yes exactly, think they offer them at 7 & 10 weeks for reassurance due to the previous losses which is nice, and also perhaps as I'm on progesterone. The 10 week one I'd need to go to my RMC which is over an hour's drive away, so just wondering if I can do one at 8 weeks maybe I can last till 13 without another... will see. Do you think you would want another one before the 12 week one, after your upcoming one?

@Margo34 just wanted to check you saw my message about progesterone till 16 weeks? I know it can be a bit hectic on here and things can be missed! happy to chat about it more if you want to DM me :)

@chasingtherainbow1 I'm also getting mild nausea, am 6+1 today... I found with my DD the nausea got slowly worse until peaking at like 8/9/10 weeks so you may find it gets worse or you may be lucky and not get it too badly! When is your next scan?

@CinderellaFant really sorry you are still bleeding... let us know how you get on. Fingers crossed! <3

All this talk of diet coke has made me really want one 😅

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 12:03

@SavedByGraceAlone so sorry to hear what you went through, that sounds really hard :( I've read online that sometimes the progesterone can mask a mc, but other times it doesn't and you do bleed so I guess it just depends - like everything in pregnancy it seems!! Have you had any HCG bloods done this time? How many weeks are you now (sorry hard to keep track!).

Re progesterone giving you symptoms, I actually weirdly had no sore boobs till v recently even though I was on high dose progesterone from 11dpo, so I feel like maybe it won't give you these.... that could be the hcg brewing away :)

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 12:10

@Skylark1990 ahh yes I did see your message thank you, I did reply but looks like it didn't actually post 🙈
I didn't appreciate it was recommended to 16w, I thought it was 12 so that is very helpful to know thank you. I think because my GP wants to see me again at 8w that's why I was only prescribed enough until then for now. I'll have a read of that Prism trial again ☺️

GlobetrottingPercy · 18/08/2022 12:14

I’ve tried to catch up with everything that I’ve missed but sorry if I’ve missed any important updates.

Cinderella, I really hope that everything is ok for you, sorry that you are going through such a worrying time right now.

@Skylark1990 and the other due date buddies, I’m 6+1 today too and your posts about the 3+ indicator etc are exactly how I felt!

How long did you all wait for the midwife to call you for booking in appointments? I handed my form in a week ago today but haven’t heard from her yet, I know it doesn’t need to be done until 8 weeks plus so we’ve got time but I thought she might have called me to get the date booked in by now. I’m probably just impatient!

I am absolutely ravenous, I can’t get enough food at the moment. Craving chocolate and sweets constantly as well as unhealthy fast food - it’s taking all my willpower not to nip out to McDonald’s. I hadn’t had one for months and months before this and now I can’t stop thinking about them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 12:16

I was just about to moan that I have to wait until next week to register my pregnancy with my community midwives and though ah I'll just.double check and they've changed it!!! I can register from 4w now when it was 6! Even my June pregnancy was wait to 6w!

Has anyone else self-refered yet? Has anyone else's NHS trust made a similar change? I'm so glad they have, it was limbo before when GP wouldn't see anyone pregnant and MW wouldn't take anyone under 6w! 🥳

mummatara · 18/08/2022 12:17

@Margo34 I have self referred already there were no time limits with our trust

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 12:21

@Margo34 oh just glad you saw it! Defo good to know as you can ensure you get it for the time you need it :) here's a good article on it www.tommys.org/about-us/charity-news/prism-trial-bleeding-early-pregnancy-and-miscarriage .

Re self referring, no limits on my trust either, have had a chat to the head midwife and she said I'll have my first appointment when I'm about 8 weeks and she will assign me a midwife. I was with the home birth team for my dd and they were so amazing but it's sadly been disbanded, so not expecting such good care this time. My home birth midwife saw me at home for every appointment and spent ages with me, I could text her with questions, and she was even there for some of the birth so it felt like really good continuity of care.

@GlobetrottingPercy hello - nice to have another due date buddy! I craved McDs soooo much with my DD, it was weird as like you I hardly eat it normally. I was super into fillet of fish burgers. I actually quite fancy one now! I'm the same, enormous appetite atm. Seems to be keeping the nausea at bay slightly if I eat loads...

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 12:28

Maybe just my trust that had restrictions on referring then 🤷 It has made my day, feels like another milestone to mark 🥳

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 12:29

@Skylark1990 your home birth team sound like a dream, gutting they're disbanded! Funding cuts I'm guessing? Such a shame 😔 hope you get just as good care this time 🤞

GlobetrottingPercy · 18/08/2022 12:31

@Margo34 I’ve just looked online at mine, it says if you haven’t managed to make contact and book an appointment with your midwife by week 11 then you should self refer to them. Before that you need to register with the community midwives via your GP. So quite a long wait if you live in my area and aren’t getting anywhere!

Marshmallowmountain · 18/08/2022 12:39

@SavedByGraceAlone im doing HCG testing due to previous losses. I had one yesterday at 4w1d and it was 238, I’ve got one tomorrow to check progress. I’m hoping then I’ll feel enough comfort to stop but I reckon I’ll do another one a week later and then wait for a 7 week scan.

I will keep everything crossed for you 🤞

Storm82 · 18/08/2022 12:43

Hi everyone newbie here! 👋 I'm 7 weeks as of Tommorow, I've not been great with the nausea and tiredness but todays a better day so I went to try and put my jeans on (been living in joggers) to make me feel a bit more normal and none fit..?!?? Is this normal at 7 weeks ..😱 I'm guessing just bloat ..anyone else feel like this?? X

B1993 · 18/08/2022 13:39

@Storm82

I'm a newbie too, just joined this morning!

I found out I was pregnant super early (lucky me!!) - I'm only just 3+6 now but the bloat has already started! I took DS to his swimming lesson this morning and couldn't quite believe my how big my bloat 'bump' looked!

RE neasea, weirdly for me I've already had some mild bouts of it. I know it shouldn't kick in until 6+ weeks so think maybe it is just due to progesterone (not taking any as a supplement, just the natural rise I mean). With my first, I made the the entire pregnancy without any real cravings, food aversions or sickness!! I felt nauseous a Hangul of times - mainly when driving or brushing my teeth - so I've been a bit caught off guard by my early symptoms this time around.

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 14:03

Just had a Bundaburg ginger beer and it's helped the sicky feeling a lot! Recommend

Tropicana1 · 18/08/2022 14:04

@alwaysseeingstars yay for 3+ 😊😊

@DBS94 im having one coffee a day which I know from my nespresso machine is 75mg caffeine, I don't drink fizzy drinks and I've been drinking decaff tea instead of my usual.
Last pregnancy I didn't really drink coffee but was easily having 2-4 regular caffeinated teas a day!

@GlobetrottingPercy i callled my midwife this week and got given my booking appointment date then and there over the phone (8th September), but I guess they all do it differently!

chasingtherainbow1 · 18/08/2022 14:12

@ThatsTooFantastic yeah deep breaths are really hard. Really struggled to sleep last night because of it! I've read it doesn't last too long when the body gets used to all the hormones!

@Skylark1990 I'm hoping I don't get it at all. The nausea seems to come with strong smells and the thought of eating makes me feel a bit queasy. As horrible as it is, I'd rather have symptoms and feel more pregnant than not at all!

Marshmallowmountain · 18/08/2022 14:36

Can anyone explain the 3+ thing to me please?

Wouldloveanother · 18/08/2022 14:39

Afternoon ladies. I feel so grim Sad I haven’t been sick or that nauseous today because I’ve been snacking little and often, but I just feel so tired/bloated and have major brain fog. I’m back at work today but everything feels like such an effort. I’m in such a flat mood and just feel bleurgh. Does anyone else? ☹️

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 14:39

@Marshmallowmountain when you do a digital pregnancy test with weeks indicator and you have progressed to showing 3+ it means more than 3 weeks since conception.

Wouldloveanother · 18/08/2022 14:40

Marshmallowmountain · 18/08/2022 14:36

Clearblue do a pregnancy test which says how many weeks from conception you are - 1-2, 2-3 or 3+. It can tell because it measures the HCG in your urine which, if the pregnancy is progressing, should rise. In pregnancies that don’t progress the HCG doesn’t rise or rises too slowly. So you can sort of use the tests to check on this, by seeing if you’ve ‘moved up a week’ seven days after the first positive test. If that makes sense!
