@B1993 thats interesting! I guess there are no guarantees haha.

Re the sneak peak, my friend did it and it said boy but at the 20 week scan she found out it was a girl, so personally I wouldn't waste the money - so expensive and quite easy for it to be wrong as you only need to pick up a bit of dna from around the house and it can skew it...

You can try to get an early idea of sex from the 12 week scan based on the nub... google the nub theory! I looked into that with my DD and thought she'd be a girl and yup, a girl! x

chasingtherainbow1 · 18/08/2022 09:56

@chillichillioil I had a scan at 5w5d and didn't see a heartbeat or anything either. Just gestational sac and yolk sac. I ent for a repeat scan at 6w4d and there was a baby and a heart beat measuring right on track. For another next Tuesday (I've had recurrent miscarriage so being monitored) Hoping it's still going ok!

@alwaysseeingstars ah glad it's not just me! It just takes you by surprise when it happens doesn't it!

I think I'll find out the sex if we get that far but I've seen so many threads about Rambo theory and nub theory that I think I might be able to tell on my own lol think I've ruined it for myself

chasingtherainbow1 · 18/08/2022 09:59

I'm also really struggling with breathlessness in the last few days. It's awful, feel like o can't get a full breath!

Bub20 · 18/08/2022 10:26

Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a couple of weeks but thought I'd join in! I'm currently around 6wk 5days, have a private scan booked next week for when I'm almost 8 weeks for reassurance as we sadly had a MMC in March this year. We already have one DD, so trying to be positive but am much more nervous this time round!

Longbin · 18/08/2022 10:38

I'm doing the harmony test in a month and they can tell you the gender as part of that

chillichillioil · 18/08/2022 10:43

@Skylark1990 how far along are you now? Counting down the days till the 7 week scan!

@chasingtherainbow1 sorry for your losses lovely.
So glad you've seen your little beans heartbeat 💗 I need to not get obsessed and go for lots of scans as my OH will kill me for spending so much. I'm booked in with the midwife for initial telephone app on the 30th which seems like an age. I would love an NHS early scan as have endo and I am feeling all sorts of twinges and pains down there xxx

ThatsTooFantastic · 18/08/2022 10:46

Hi again from thread 1, sorry I’m finding it tough to keep up!
Hope everyone is ok, sending calm to those filled with worry. Calm coming from our little dog rather than me, I’m up and down!

For those struggling with breathlessness, is your chest also tight? I feel a bit of pain and I’m not sure it’s heartburn or Covid or anxiety or just my body going through a lot suddenly…? It’s not constant, but I do feel breathless and lightheaded through the day at the moment. Went for a walk with a friend the other day and felt so bad as I was constantly yawning!

My boobs aren’t as sore or swollen today, but relieved to hear others going through similar. Also relieved and amused to learn I’m not the only one craving juicy beverages 😂
Last week it was eggs but now I’m a bit 🤢
No sickness yet just a bit of nausea, worse when my stomach is empty.
I’m still having little niggling pains in my abdomen too, but hoping it’s ‘normal’.

Where I am you have to send an email to “pregnancybookin@blabla” then they send an auto response with an e-form to fill out, I’ve done that and the next auto response said someone will call me in the next two weeks or so. It feels a bit like limbo and very impersonal, but I guess that’s living in a crowded city! Where I grew up the midwife my mam and Aunty had was a friend of theirs. Somewhere in-between would be nice 😅

Anyway, hope you’re all ok this week fellow April 23ers xx

@hotelp
Great news re 3+!

That's exactly what I've got: 'very occasionally sicky and refluxy, with just very sensitive nipples', plus daily period-like cramping... Can't wait for some more symptoms to kick in, I think they'll reassure me!

Does anyone know their HCG levels yet? I was only at 101 last Friday (4+5) and going again for repeat tomorrow morning - praying they'll be nearing 1,000 tomorrow (5+5)!

This is my 5th pregnancy with previous 4 ending in miscarriages - DH and I are currently living through a weird mix of fear & hope!😅

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 10:52

@SavedByGraceAlone I didnt realise you'd been through so many losses - am so sorry! Really hoping this is the one for you <3 I've had 3 losses this year. It's hard! Are you doing anything differently this time round, did you get any tests done?

@chillichillioil I am 6+1 today, I have a scan at EPAU next Thurs when I'll be 7+1 but I am a bit nervous of going at 7 weeks, I wonder if going at 8 weeks (all being well) would be more reassuring. Going to see how I feel over next couple days... need to call EPAU sooner rather than later if I want to reschedule. I could have one at 10/11 weeks too as I've had recurrent mc, but I'm not sure I want to have loads of early scans so just trying to balance it all. My 12 week one is when I'll actually be 13 weeks - got the letter through yesterday. But this all feels very far ahead so we shall see... If you have endo they may well scan you early. Hope you get one x

SavedByGraceAlone · 18/08/2022 11:03

@Skylark1990 ahh I'm so sorry to hear about your losses too. 3 just this year... that is heartbreaking..! my last 3 MCs were in the space of 18 months. hope these two stick for both of us 💞💞

indeed, we did private tests twice (after 3rd and 4th MCs) - and both found nothing, 'just a case of bad luck', we've been told... only thing am doing differently this time is 75 mg aspirin. am also on progesterone, but that was the case with the last MC and didnt seem to make a difference for me. are you doing any of these things by any chance? or something else? xx

CinderellaFant · 18/08/2022 11:07

Thanks for asking @alwaysseeingstars I'm still lightly bleeding and have a very heavy full feeling in my uterus ☹️

DBS94 · 18/08/2022 11:08

How much caffeine is everyone consuming at the moment? Im a tea and coffee addict and have been researching everything. I've cut out coffee and limited to two cups of tea a day plus a Diet Coke now and again as a treat. Does this sound okay? I know limit is 200mg and some comes through food

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 11:09

@SavedByGraceAlone thank you. It's so hard isn't it. I am on progesterone too, 400mg twice a day. No aspirin as the tests so far haven't indicated a problem and I'm also intolerant to it, so didn't want to do it on the off chance. I have had lots of tests and all normal so far but still waiting for two of the clotting disorder tests to come back... should be back in next couple weeks so just praying no issue there given I'm already pregnant again! I'm sorry to ask such a horrible question, but with your mc while on the progesterone, did you bleed or did it mask it so you only found out at the scan? It's something I've been wondering... whether the progesterone would mask a mc... xx

mummatara · 18/08/2022 11:11

@DBS94 I don't drink coffee and switched to herbal tea this time last time I managed the switch to decaf quite well but I know some people think it tastes off. I am still eating chocolate but not very much a bag every couple of days atm malteasers are my addiction 😂 really trying to curb the choc!

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 11:12

@DBS94 I am having one caffeinated black tea in the morning and occasionally a second, or a green tea later on. Mostly I'm sticking to herbal teas after my morning black tea. I think what you're doing sounds fine! Black tea has about 50mg caffeine per cup give or take depending how strong you like it. So two would be about 100mg. Like you say, there s caffeine in some food such as chocolate. I think a diet coke has about 80 mg? not sure about that though. x

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 11:13

One thing to note though, coffee and black tea (with or without milk) affects the absorption of nutrients so if you are having two a day near to food or when you take your pregnancy multivitamins it could affect your absorption of these important nutrients so try to have the tea not right next to taking your vitamins! Leaving an hour between is good. x

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 11:14

@mummatara I think malteasers will be fine from a caffeine perspective 😂it's dark choc that we need to worry about - milk choc has hardly any caffiene as far as I know!

Skylark1990 · 18/08/2022 11:15

And when I say worry I don't mean actually worry... it's still not much at all x

Sunnyxo · 18/08/2022 11:15

@DBS94 I've swapped for decaf! The Nescafé stronger instant coffee tastes like my normal coffee and the decaf from starbs and costa I can't tell the difference. I think 2 cups a day of caffeinated would be fine though😊

chillichillioil · 18/08/2022 11:16

@Skylark1990 ahh I'm 5+6 so just a few days behind you. It's good they're getting you in frequently so you can see the progression, it must be very reassuring for you. I'm so sorry you've been through those losses, sending all the possy vibes for this one my love. I'm going in at 7 on the dot for my next one & they said I should be able to see heartbeat etc so I don't see why you wouldn't see anything. I guess you would only have 3 weeks to wait in between your next one too if they're scanning you again at 10/11 xxx

SavedByGraceAlone · 18/08/2022 11:16

@Skylark1990 Really hope the tests come back okay for you!

No worries at all about asking - that's what this thread is here for, I think. I was wondering the same last time - whether the progesterone is just delaying/masking the MC. Afraid I don't really know as I've found out that pregnancy wasn't viable because of the low and slowly rising HCGs. The consultant told me it's likely to end in miscarriage, so I stopped progesterone as I just wanted to get it over with... :(

Am still worrying about this with progesterone now. Also is it giving me 'false' symptoms, eg my boobs are heavy and sore but could is it progesterone or a real pregnancy symptom!

Also on 440mgs twice a day.

mummatara · 18/08/2022 11:18

@Skylark1990 😂 I don't need any encouragement I think I could munch through the biggest share bag and not blink an eye 😳 I dread to think of the calorie content 🤣

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 11:21

@DBS94 I am a tea fiend! Usually 8 cups a day minimum. In pregnancy though I cut right down. It's have my breakfast cup of tea as usual ("full fat" caffeine) and decaf the rest of the day. If I know I'll be going out or visiting a friend in the day and likely to have a cup of tea or coffee then I'll swap it around and have decaf for my breakfast cuppa and full fat when out. It also takes the pressure off having the occasional can of coke or nibble of chocolate 🤭

The NHS website says there's as much caffeine in green tea as there is in black tea which I never appreciated until pregnancy!

@Skylark1990 @SavedByGraceAlone I have the same worry about taking professional and really hope it doesn't mask a MC. I think it's hard not to think that though.

Margo34 · 18/08/2022 11:24

*progesterone not professional 🤣
