@Bobduncan i was like this a few weeks ago and still am at times! (I’m 10 weeks now!) raw cold carrots and ice lollies were my go to 😂 as well as hating tanfastics but they had to be kept in the fridge… still struggle most evenings with meals! I think it’s completely normal. Little and often/grazing was recommended when I went for an early scan.

SJ1994 · 03/08/2022 22:32

@Bobduncan *haribo tangfastics

Choc2022 · 04/08/2022 03:02

Hi all.

6 weeks now ( i think) and I have the worst heartburn but it seems more lower down in the stomach. Is this normal?

How is everyone booking scans? I just about have a booking appointment, do I ask for an early scan there?

Its my first and known for a few weeks (feels forever) and just seems so isolating. Im already a bit bored of the research but nothing else to do.

BlondePotter · 04/08/2022 06:18

@Choc2022 early scans are private ones so Google 'private pregnancy scan' near you. Window to the Womb is who I've booked with, they have lots of clinics

havanamama · 04/08/2022 07:38

Morning! I’m 9 weeks tomorrow! Can’t believe how quickly time has gone! 😳

we have told all our friends and family which has been the best decision ever🤍 so much love and support

I have the fatigue and nausea but not been actually sick. I’m hoping in a few weeks that will subside

MattyM5 · 04/08/2022 07:56

@LittleAcorn20 Thank you for re-assuring! ☺️ Sounds like it’s just very chaotic so it’s no surprise that I haven’t been given a date yet. Lucky that you were home 😂

rach971 · 04/08/2022 08:13

@MattyM5 I referred as soon as I found out I was pregnant, they said I'd get a letter through the post within 7-10 days with appt date and time on and true to their word it arrived a week later.

@Bobduncan Yes, I basically decide on the day what I fancy for tea. But then once I've eaten it I'm like okayyy don't think I could eat that again haha. So basically each time I eat something, I'm put off eating it again. So the list of anything I want to eat is just getting smaller and smaller and smaller 😩

@Choc2022 If you want an early scan then you'll need to go private. In terms of the dating scan, I've been told they'll book mine at my booking appt

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 04/08/2022 09:46

Hi again everyone!

For the scans/booking appointment, I self referred via my local hospitals website and then got a letter through in the post for my booking in appointment (currently 6 weeks, appointment is 30th August) and then a couple of days later a letter for my scan followed (13th September) so will be just under 12 weeks at the scan.

How is everyone navigating social events/drinking? I'm going away for a couple of nights in 2 weeks for a work training event, my colleagues are big drinkers and I know they're planning a night out on the Friday when we finish and I'm really lost how to get out of drinking without them clocking it!

I find social thing's so hard! I told one friend I was on a diet which kind of worked but I think he knows but I'm seeing my best friend next week and I had to say as it's just the two of us going out and she wanted to share a bottle of wine! I don't mind telling close friends but work mates etc would be tough! Could you drink tonic or soda water and pretend it's a g&t?

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 04/08/2022 10:21

@Perexi honestly these first 12 weeks feel like about 12 years trying to keep it secret! Problem is there's only 4 of us so likely it won't always be me ordering the rounds, especially as the others are all male. I suffer with migraines so tempting to try and use that but its so hard!

Nobody talk's about how hard a secret it is (or the tiredness)

Perexi · 04/08/2022 11:48

I think morning sickness maybe kicking in today for me im 6+1 today so about right I guess. I keep getting a stomach dropping feeling like on a rollercoaster and a bit queasy, mouth is all metallic too which feels so strange! Although ive had lot's of stomach cramps so it all balances out!

CristinaNov182 · 04/08/2022 11:52

I’ve had this with my first baby, I was very sure of my dates but they brought the due date a week earlier based on the measurement at the first scan. She was born a small baby though at 2.5kg so I don’t know what that was about.

I’ve also heard from a friend that did ivf and same thing happened to her.

CristinaNov182 · 04/08/2022 11:55

I did some blood tests in private and they came back with h-CRP height at 14.26
mg/L.

I spoke to my GP and she said it’s normal to have the level raised during pregnancy and she gave me a repeat test for next week.

Im also waiting for a swan test to come back as I had an yellow discharge.

i wonder if anyone has had elevated CRP in their pregnancy, now or previous? I’m 7 weeks pregnant.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 04/08/2022 12:02

@Perexi Do you find the cramps are all one side? Every cramp I've had has been on my left side.

I found this in early weeks, an early scan showed it had implanted that side so the pains were likely just them getting comfy.

Mine were never awful pains though - I'd get it checked out if yours are.

hol92 · 04/08/2022 12:16

Oh god social situations! I have a wedding tomorrow and have had to tell my two best friends as they would definitely be piling me with shots and it’s not like me to refuse hahah! Then I will just drink tonic and and pretend it’s gin or alcohol free beer, for me though it’s more the fact that this nausea is now constant and I just can’t think of anything worse than a wedding right now 🙈😂 xx

hellosunshineagainx · 04/08/2022 12:21

Had my booking appointment this morning. I'm 7w3d, Hopefully scan soon! I said I wanted a c-section and she didn't even try and put me off so that's good (traumatic birth with my first)

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 04/08/2022 12:27

@botbump thats helpful thank you, it's never really more than a heavy period cramp but this is my first so it feels like every little twinge I'm noticing! I booked an early scan for tomorrow so I'll ask them what side it's implanted and hopefully it's just that! How far gone were you when they stopped?

Perexi · 04/08/2022 12:35

Yes Seems to be the left side but only a dull ache or kind of pulling sensation like a feeling before AF arrives but not as bad as a full period cramp if that makes sense.

rach971 · 04/08/2022 12:45

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I'm going to the wedding reception of someone from work at the end of August, I'm planning to say I'm on antibiotics for a wisdom tooth infection.

@hellosunshineagainx I'm so glad they didn't put you off. I'm hoping for the same experience. I had an emergency section first time round and I've heard you're offered one automatically second time around in that case, but not sure how true it is. I just really want one and don't want to have to fight for it.

Mm, I think around 8 weeks.
I've had more generalised cramping on and off since then and started to get really sharp ligament pains on the same side when I twist/stand up quickly/sneeze.
It's my first too, and I never really suffered with period cramps, so I'm hyper aware of everything but am assured this is all very normal. Just our bodies stretching and preparing for what's ahead.

So I think it depends why you had the emergency. She offered to send me to a vbac session they run but I said there's no point because I won't change my mind!

2019Mama · 04/08/2022 14:36

@MattyM5 Managed to get through today only for them to tell me they hadn't received my referral from the doctors 🤦🏻‍♀️
The midwife got me to self refer on their website whilst she was on the phone to me and Managed to book me my booking appointment for Saturday.

rach971 · 04/08/2022 15:46

@hellosunshineagainx Yeah see mine was just due to her being breech, so nothing overly serious in the grand scheme of things. Was glad it went that way though. I know for a lot of women it 'ruins' their experience and they find it hard to get over the fact they didn't give birth themselves... but for me labour isn't something I've ever wanted to go through or has appealed to me. Got my booking appointment next week so definitely going to bring it up.
