@havanamama just wondering as a fellow hypothyroidism sufferer - I have my 12 week scan with NHS on Monday but I have an appointment with an endocrinologist beforehand what’s been your experience so far? Is it all pretty straight forward like just more check ups etc? Thank you 😊

Babynum2 · 30/08/2022 17:45

Hello - I’m 11+6 and I had one day last week where I felt great and thought I was over the worst of it. However been bed bound all weekend and week so far with crippling nausea cant stomach water and I can’t sleep at night it’s so intense. I go to be sick and just dry heave and nothing comes up. Hating being pregnant currently so miserable. Is anyone else feeling the same? Hoping that surely it’s got to end soon 🙃 x

havanamama · 30/08/2022 18:25

@MarisaJ I had my endocrinologist phone consultation the same day as my 12 week scan.
It was very positive - they had reviewed my blood test results from the booking appointment, and said my levothyroxine dose needs to be increased.
We had a general chat of how I’m feeling, and will have another call 10 weeks later. They asked that the GP or midwife do another blood test so the endocrinologist
can check the results again.

As a follow up they sent letters - for the phone appointment to me and for the medication to the GP. (Took 2 days to receive for me and 1 week for the GP)

Bobduncan · 30/08/2022 18:34

Sorry to hear that @Jholli 😞 I'm also suffering badly with digestive issues so I feel your pain! Also I seem to only want to eat rubbishy food which probably isn't helping

MarisaJ · 30/08/2022 18:38

@havanamama Ah ok thank you for letting me know ☺️

Yep happened to me. A bit earlier on than yours but I felt better for a couple of weeks and then fell right back to feeling awful. I'm 14 weeks now and feel much better all round now. You'll be okay ❤️

@MarisaJ you’re welcome !

Jholli · 30/08/2022 19:43

I’m hating it so far. Feel absolutely awful

LittleAcorn20 · 30/08/2022 20:19

Entirely agree with @TeddyBeans there really is a light at the end of the sickness tunnel!!
13+4 today and it's getting much more manageable. I felt so upset and depressed during the really bad weeks when I was stuck in bed and surviving off such a little amount of food and water. Now I occasionally still need my anti sickness tablet in the morning but can finally eat and drink almost normally!
I really do feel for you though, it feels never ending. Make sure you have the support you need and advice from gp/midwife/111 if you need ❤️ I bothered them an awful lot in those first 12 weeks!

LittleAcorn20 · 30/08/2022 20:24

@Bobduncan the rubbishy foods becomes a problem doesn't it. I was surviving on cheese and white carbs. It was my only way to get food into me but was like a vicious cycle for my poor digestive system.
I found healthy food wise I could tolerate orange juice, dry cornflakes or Weetabix with milk and a handful of raisins (I drink oat milk so a bit of fibre there too), and apples. Very occasionally bananas. Could you manage anything like those things?
I also loved white carbs for so long but then suddenly really craved granary & seeded bread 🤷‍♀️ just got to mostly go with what you fancy even if it's rubbishy and then almost force yourself towards a couple of healthy bits you can tolerate.

Katlouise24 · 30/08/2022 20:58

Had my dating scan today! All was really good with baby...also had my blood tests done and happened to faint so that was interesting lol.

Confirmed due date for March 12th! :)

Im just trying to have a look for the lady who thought she was further along did she have her scan? I was very invested and interested to know what happened!

ladies with sickness its hard i know but second trimester should get better. Im 13 +3 now i still get sick everyday and feel sick constantly but compared to 2 weeks ago i have an appetite now honestly couldnt stomach anything. Just try to eat whatever your body wants dont worry if its healthy/unhealthy right now there will come a time you can make up for it. I lived off bread and digestives for 4 weeks no exageration.

June628 · 31/08/2022 09:57

Finally had my 12 week scan( I am around 13 weeks but had to rearrange the day for when my toddler is at nursery). So emotional seeing the little baby in there, hoping blood test is all ok. Haven’t told anyone apart from my husband about pregnancy and waiting until Saturday to tell parents in person so wanted to post here to just tell someone!! Hope everyone else is doing well. Calculated due date now 8th March 😀

June628 · 31/08/2022 10:14

Are you guys using any apps that tell you what fruit baby is at each week etc? Can’t remember what I used with my first and would be nice to get something again. Feel like this pregnancy so far has been totally overshadowed by sickness and hasn’t got the attention that my first did

Dreamingof3 · 31/08/2022 10:26

@June628 I use Ovia pregnancy, I find it the cutest because it shows you how big their hands and feet would be too 😍

havanamama · 31/08/2022 10:56

@June628 I use Pregnancy +, it says food, dessert, and animal size

Bobduncan · 31/08/2022 11:23

I've just seen that Gordon's make a zero percent pink gin! Off I go to the supermarket later today 😆

JB2021 · 31/08/2022 11:35

@June628 my scan is tomorrow. Parents already know but we want to tell brothers and friends. Did they say when you'd get test results back?

Cdoc · 31/08/2022 13:14

Just had my 12 week scan and very relieved! Measuring 5 days ahead so 13+4 now and due date 4th March. So desperate to know the sex! Is anyone finding out before the 20 week scan?

Due March 2023 - thread 2
JB2021 · 31/08/2022 13:29

@Cdoc is it your first? My first and really nervous for my scan

Cdoc · 31/08/2022 13:52

@JB2021 it is my first! I was pregnant earlier this year but had a mmc, so was worried it would happen again, but everything looks okay. When is your scan? Good luck 🤞🏼✨

June628 · 31/08/2022 14:21

@JB2021 good luck for your scan tomorrow! Such a nerve wracking wait but you’re nearly there :) they said of bloods show high risk then I’ll hear in 3 working days otherwise they send a letter
