@Markygirl1995 head back tomorrow if you're still bleeding. Red blood is slightly more concerning but could also be down to an irritated cervix or subchorionic hematoma. It doesn't necessarily mean anything bad has happened. When's your 12 week scan?

@TeddyBeans im trying to stay hopefully but going to expect the worse too :/
was meant to have a scan Friday going by lmp I would be 11 weeks today but going by my last scan I’m 10w 3 days so I’m probably too early for it

Hi everyone! I'm 12 weeks today and I'm not sure if I continue taking my pregnacare prenatal vitamins or whether I stop now...anyone know what to do...I recall my widwife mentioning people stopping them at 12 weeks but I'm not sure if there's any benefit in keeping on taking them...this is my first pregnancy so just wondering if anyone has any advice

Babynum2 · 29/08/2022 08:53

@Katlouise24 think you can get vitamins from 12 weeks on. My widwife told me glass of milk a day for second trimester also 😂

Babynum2 · 29/08/2022 08:55

I have my second midwife app tomorrow and to see the complex care team not sure what will be happening but feel sick of seeing that bloody hospital now up there every week!

Has anyone picked up any of the free baby packs i keep getting ads on my phone pop up?

I'm still taking mine for the iron (I get anaemic easily), the midwife also told me vitamin D was still important in the second so I'm keeping it up for that too.

I am taking Pregnacare Max though which suggests it's beneficial throughout.

TeddyBeans · 29/08/2022 09:02

@Markygirl1995 they'll send you for another scan if your dates aren't right for the combined screening if you're having it. I know it's scary but you've had a successful scan already, your chance of miscarriage reduces if you've already seen a heartbeat. It's no guarantee but try to let it reassure you a little bit.

@Babynum2 I got the packs last time and didn't find them particularly useful so I think I'll avoid them this time round

@Katlouise24 I've been told to take aspirin and high dose vit D throughout so I don't see the harm in taking pregnancy vitamins throughout. It won't do you any harm and might help to ensure baby's getting everything they need to grow

Ah! A fellow aspirin Mum!
My midwife advised I take it as this is my first pregnancy and my Mum had preeclampsia with both of hers (I think I've told you this, so sorry for the repeat).

I've never taken aspirin before, have taken it for two days with my evening meal, and both times I've woken up feeling very hungover and yuck the next morning.
I was just enjoying being out of the first trimester struggle and now I feel nauseous, a little dizzy and just yuck.
Of course, could be a hormonal flip, but wondered if you experience the same on aspirin?

At my booking appointment last week they said it wouldn't hurt to take aspirin but with all the other things I forgot to ask dose etc and for how long etc. but now I've done some reading it says low dose from 12 week's so am a bit confused as to what to do! I have a doctor's call tomorrow as I need a person for the higher dose folic acid so am hoping they can help...!

botleybump · 29/08/2022 11:36

Ah.
I was told 150mg from 12-36 weeks. Stopping at 36 weeks to lower the risk of haemorrhage at birth.
Of course, that doesn't mean our dosages will be the same. Just sharing conversationally!

havanamama · 29/08/2022 11:59

I am also told to take 150mg aspirin each evening from 12-36 weeks

I have not felt any different from it, if anything, it has stopped headaches

TeddyBeans · 29/08/2022 12:56

I don't take my aspirin in the evening. I kept forgetting so I figured it made more sense to take them in the morning when I'm already in the medicine cabinet getting DS's multivitamin. It's not made a difference to my BP so far, still well within normal range.

Perexi · 29/08/2022 13:10

Yeah I'm guessing it's from 12 week's as my mum had preeclampsia but she wasn't totally clear almost just dropped it into conversation 😂 she also said I could just buy higher dose folic acid from boots which ive since found out I can't!

Laur1980 · 29/08/2022 13:35

@botleybump I'm the exact same, I take them every night before bed and feel so thirsty and groggy exactly like a hangover. I also have to take cyclogest (progesterone) folic acid and vitamins for iron and vitamin d which I'm really low on. I got anti sickness pills too but it hasn't helped at all so going to phone back the doctors and try get another kind. 🤦‍♀️

Babynum2 · 29/08/2022 13:43

Ive stopped taking all the vitamins a long time ago it just made me feel really unwell plus i was being sick so couldnt of been doing much. I didnt take vitamins with my other pregnancies either. Im on so much at the moment asprin, blood thinners and 2 lots of anti sickness 3 times a day i dont really want to add anything else

allthingssparkly · 29/08/2022 14:05

Katlouise24 · 29/08/2022 14:06

@allthingssparkly I also have mine tomorrow!

allthingssparkly · 29/08/2022 14:08

Ahh amazing @Katlouise24 how many weeks are you?

Katlouise24 · 29/08/2022 14:09

@allthingssparkly I'm 12 weeks today! How about you? :)

alotoftutus · 29/08/2022 14:10

@allthingssparkly I have mine on Wednesday.

Was looking forward to telling my kiddies afterwards when yesterday my eldest (10) said - mum I really think you are pregnant - I mean I hope you're not because there's already too many people in this house but I think you are 😩

He killed the magic in one swoop lol

allthingssparkly · 29/08/2022 14:12

@Katlouise24 I'm 12w4d today 😊 definitely looking forward to seeing little one again!

Cdoc · 29/08/2022 14:16

@alotoftutus mine is Wednesday too! I will be 12+6. I’m so nervous, good luck to everyone with their scans this week 🤞🏼✨

TeddyBeans · 29/08/2022 14:27

Oooh lots of scans coming up! Good luck 🍀 can't wait to see the pictures 🥰

Ahh, reassuring that it's not just me! Sorry you're feeling bad though.

Perhaps I'll try the morning like a previous poster. My midwife did say to take them with food as it's easier on the tummy, but that doesn't seem to have helped.
