Thanks @Lianna93 😊

ShellUK09 · 31/07/2022 21:56

Thank you 😊 @Lianna93

strawberrysummer19 · 31/07/2022 22:15

Thank you @Lianna93 I'd miss this group
We've been through a lot together
Is there a Facebook group did I see one time?

11 days in also but 4 days of that was hospital so still think it's so early days!

I think I feel fed up/low as I have felt so rubbish since losing 2l and blood transfusions
Im sure once my levels are normal again I'll feel better

2 weeks paternity is not enough! How long does everyone's partner have off?

I find the nights the hardest as little one grunts and doesn't settle sometimes or has hiccups but in the day she's soundo and have to wake her! She goes 2-3 hrs but sometimes has gone 5yrs (daytime) but tend to wake her mostly if she's still sleep which I still find strange
Never had to with my first but she's dropped a bit of weight at her check so once she's back up I'll worry less but she did gain 2oz at her last check but a couple of oz away from her birth weight x

Lianna93 · 31/07/2022 23:40

@strawberrysummer19 I believe there was a Facebook group mentioned in the very early days but not sure what came of it... We've lost quite a few of us along the way too - probably due to the changing of threads πŸ™ˆ

My DH only got two weeks as well & went back on Friday. I really struggled with that. My health visitor phoned me because she remembered me saying how he was going back to work. Ended up crying down the phone to her so she came to visit me for 10 minutes which turned into an hour to two hours 😬 Ended up being referred to the perinatal mental health team as I'm showing signs of PND πŸ™ƒ

My little one slept the from about 1am to 8am yesterday/today - which was honestly amazing & I'm hoping she does the same tonight because she's been cluster feeding since about 1pm til about 10.30pm. Literally just non stop. DH & I were gonna go out with her but we couldn't because of the constant feeds & I've not been able to grab a nap either today. So really need her to sleep πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

How's everyone else getting on with their little ones?
Mamas that are still awaiting the arrival of your babies - how are yous getting on?

NamelessBaby1 · 31/07/2022 23:41

@strawberrysummer19 I had some quite weepy days this week as I was so worried about her not feeding properly and I guess the changes routine and everything too, but I've been much better after finding out she'd actually put on weight!

We're having a slight cluster feeding stage at the moment but it only seems to last a few hours which isn't too bad.

My mum has been an absolute trooper this week and has been over most days, and doing whatever is needed around the house including seeing to dinners, so I can nap or focus on baby. The freezer full of meals I'd prepped on advance has definitely come in useful though! My OH has been so cute with the baby but he is a little bit haunless when it comes to practical stuff, lol. He's just off the 2 weeks too, so only one week to go, but he's still working from home which reassures me slightly.

Coco9910 · 31/07/2022 23:48

Thanks for making the new thread @Lianna93 Im 40+3 and unless I have the worlds quickest labour and she arrives in the next 12 minutes then it looks like I’m having an August baby! I’m so grateful for all these threads and have to say, I can’t believe how fast the 9 months have gone!

Lianna93 · 01/08/2022 08:29

@Coco9910 Hopefully it's not much longer for you 🀞🏻

How is everyone's bleeding?

Mines light but still consistent - same colour too
Was wondering if it should start getting less or changing colour?

Tummy still tender too but midwife said it's normal but will check with health visitor today

I'm 12 days in xx

Lianna93 · 01/08/2022 09:33

@strawberrysummer19 I'm 16 days pp & mines isn't nearly as heavy anymore & has lightened up in colour but at times it can still be bright red but apparently that happens if you're breast feeding. From what I've been told, it's only of concern if it's clotted or smelly.
From a friends experience, she said she bled for 2 months 😩

My stitches have started coming out now but I don't feel healed yet but I think it's normal. My pelvic floor is absolutely wrecked too so been trying to do my exercises every day.
All these things we're not told about pregnancy, birth & postpartum πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

My bleeding isn’t too bad now but I was having a feel around yesterday and found some pea sized lumps on my labia. Hopefully it’s nothing / normal ish but have phoned the midwives just in case.

KizboBaggins · 01/08/2022 11:41

@strawberrysummer19 my bleeding is the same, I'm 13 days in. It calmed down for a few days then yesterday he had a huge cluster feed day and bleeding was stronger. HV came today though and said that's all normal.

@Lianna93 brilliant that your little one gave you a decent chunk of sleep! Glad you're getting some help from the perinatal team too, hope they can help a bit

My baby was great last night, woke once briefly for feed at 4, so I should probably feel ok today but I don't. It's tough cause even when he's "sleeping" he grunts and squirms and I wake up every single time so it's not like I even sleep through properly. Plus he cluster fed all day yesterday. Feeling very exhausted and annoyed at everything today. DH goes back to work tomorrow too which I'm dreading 😬

strawberrysummer19 · 01/08/2022 12:23

@KizboBaggins ah that's good then
I have quiet moments of hardly anything and then it comes on a bit but still not heavy. Just be nice when it stops. Feel I've so much healing down there be nice when something gets better
Episiotomy
Piles (taking suppositories 😩)
Recovering from the blood loss
Feels sore but midwife's have been checking and all looks good

My bubs goes 2-3 hrs but seems so noisy at night! So we don't get much sleep - my partner has been amazing and letting me sleep and then he sleeps in day which I always struggle to do

He is also back tomorrow and I'm dreading him
Not being here ! Just the little things
It's like we are a little team

I also feel a bit lonely when he's not here ! But I know these days are short lived and trying to enjoy them as much as I can
Just so hard when sleep deprivation kicks in

X

paintfairy · 01/08/2022 13:19

I'm here. Struggling to keep up though. 🀣
And there's nothing stopping us from making a new fb group?

ChinChilly · 01/08/2022 14:20

Thanks for the thread @Lianna93 and good news about getting the support! That sleep aswell, must of been lovely!

I’m glad mine isn’t the only noisy sleeper, our next to me cot is on OH side of the bed atm just so I had an easier time getting in and out of bed after the c-section so he’s been checking on her at every grunt and squirm. She gave us a decent sleep last night just one wake at 3 for a feed then back down at 4 until 7.30ish.

HV has just been she’s not quite back up to birth weight, she is 8.15lb and was 9.3 born so not much to go, my midwife will weigh her again on Wednesday so hopefully she’ll have put abit more on then.

@strawberrysummer19 it is a lot, either way you gave birth you need to time to heal but your just sent home with tiny human is totally dependent on you..be kind to yourself. My bleeding seems to stop and start, I’d say it’s less than a period but I’d say it was still bright red

ShellUK09 · 01/08/2022 15:05

I'm actually in the hairdressers, feels lovely to do something normal again! Well overdue a cut as had been meaning to go before the birth but then I had to go to hospital early unexpectedly. Not sure I'll be much good at small talk though with the limited amount of sleep I've had last night! My mum is looking after our little one at our house, first time I have left her with anyone πŸ₯Ί

JJ1992 · 01/08/2022 15:13

Thanks for the new thread @Lianna93 ,

41+ 4 today.. Been having irregular contractions since friday night and it hurts to sit or lie down πŸ˜‚ waiting for a phone call to come in for induction. Cant tell me when it will be. I am Scunnered!!

This July baby is now going to be an August baby!!

Coco9910 · 01/08/2022 16:31

Can I ask, if you are scheduled for an induction and they call you on the day to go in, how long do you get to get there? My partner is starting his paternity leave from when I go into labour but I’m just worried if I get induced and he starts his paternity leave he could end up wasting a couple of days waiting for them to have a bed for me.

KizboBaggins · 01/08/2022 16:32

@ShellUK09 good for you! How does it feel being away? I popped to the shop with my Mum yesterday and left DH with baby and it was fine, but I couldn't relax and rushed my mum round the shop to get back to him!

@JJ1992 keeping everything crossed for you! I can't imagine how you're feeling at 41+4. I went to 39+1 and that was quite enough of pregnancy lol

Has anyone else who is EBF been told to give Vitamin D drops to baby every day? HV told me today, so we bought some and it's a right ballache having to administer it. It's 0.5ml but can only put one drop at a time on the nipple so it took like 30mins and it squirted everywhere. We have to do this every day for the next 6 months. I'm tempted to just squirt it into his mouth but worried it will make him spit up.

NamelessBaby1 · 01/08/2022 16:53

@KizboBaggins yes I got given baby vitamins D drops in my medicine bundle from the hospital, and was told just to put a wee drop on her tongue before I feed her once a day (her mouth is usually hanging open at that point anyway lol).

@ShellUK09 enjoy the hairdresser's! We sat and watched a film together last night and it seemed so normal and nice!

@Lianna93 I know what you mean about the pelvic floor lol, I knew there was likely to be change hence all the excercise in advanced, but it's really disconcerting not being able to "squeeze" anything down there at the moment! Keep reminding myself I'm only 1 week postpartum and things take time, but it would be nice to have a bit more control again. Just glad I don't seem to be incontinent or anything at the moment.

strawberrysummer19 · 01/08/2022 18:24

@Coco9910 I was told to call in at 730am
Then when I did was told they were too busy and ended up asking to call back every 2 hrs
When I called at 4pm they said to go in at 6pm
When I got there it took until 1130 for the induction to start
Bearing in mind when the pessary was placed in at 1130, contractions started at 3am and she was born the next day at 6:20pm so a fairly quick process as inductions go
My fiancΓ© started his paternity leave on that day I went in x

strawberrysummer19 · 01/08/2022 18:29

@ChinChilly that's very true, everyone around me says the same
I'm feeling better today. Not as worried about things and day by day know that it's a day closer to feeling healed and better

But anxious about finance working tomorrow as I'm doing the whole night alone so he can sleep and he's out all day working but it's just one day so I'm expecting to be very tired tomorrow! I've had a very sleepy baby today and had to wake for feeds so at least I'm well prepared 🀣
She spent the longest time awake this morning and then has slept allllllll afternoon!!

@paintfairy me too I came off for a few days and now feel im able to sit down and scroll for a bit! How are you getting on?

X

ChinChilly · 01/08/2022 19:25

@strawberrysummer19 absolutely and these babies will get easier and more predictable! You got it for tomorrow πŸ’ͺ🏼 Tell you what though I take my hat off to single mommas!

I’ve been thinking and I’m not sure I like my health visitor πŸ˜‚ I could tell she was clearly disgusted we had a dog and I had to boot him outside lol she had a bit of a grumble about using the prep machine, she mentioned about her having a dummy (I wasn’t even going to give her a dummy, I hadn’t brought any the hospital gave her one while she was in neonatal) maybe I’m overthinking but now I feel abit like πŸ–•πŸΌπŸ˜‚

strawberrysummer19 · 01/08/2022 19:35

@ChinChilly yes exactly, these stages do go quick. And yes I've got this πŸ˜„

My last HV I asked to leave
She was awful. This was 11 years ago when I had my daughter - patronising cow she was
Hoping my one this time is nicer - although she missed her appointment today! Visiting 9-1 so arranged for my sister to visit this afternoon but she didn't show! So I'll call on tomorrow and see what's what.

My letter said dogs must be kept away !
I have a prep machine but haven't got round to using it yet! My lo is taking anything between 1-3 oz so just managing on making fresh feeds as haven't been out and about and when we do we will use the flask and measure out the cooked boiled water in the bottles so that works well.

I'm using dummies too but just whilst bottles are coming and if she stirs not using them πŸ’― and only for early days

X

ShellUK09 · 01/08/2022 19:44

@KizboBaggins it felt so weird being out without her, like I was missing an arm! But it was also a lovely little break from thinking about feeding and nappy changes. You have to do things for yourself now and again 😌 I still rushed back after the appointment though!

@NamelessBaby1 yeah it's lovely doing normal things sometimes and just being able to relax, as parenting isn't always relaxing!

ChinChilly · 01/08/2022 19:53

@strawberrysummer19 I’m not seeing her again until the middle of September anyway! She said the problem with the prep machine was people buying the cheap filters rather than the official ones. I’m the same with the dummy just mainly for while she’s waiting a couple of mins for a bottle. I actually don’t want her turning into a dummy monster to be honest.

I didn’t even get a letter I got a text saying I’ll be there 12-2. I don’t mind putting the doggo out because not everyone appreciates a super happy Labrador atleast I know for next time to kick him out beforehand πŸ˜‚
