Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

@AG96
Yes fingers crossed for both of us it's mainly a pregnancy thing Smile and I hope the symptoms get better for you. Def try the nip heaters!

And thanks re HG - it's been tough but is at least a bit better now than it was

Orcarain · 09/07/2022 16:03

Thank you so much for everyone’s tips! Makes me love this group even more!!!!

had my 16 week appointment today! Got to hear the baby’s heartbeat! Sounded like a horse galloping! ❤️

I’ll never get over how amazing midwives are. I know they train for years, but all she had to do is squidge my belly slightly and could tell exactly where baby was sitting. He/she was fully upside down. Feet towards my ribcage.

Laughingmole · 09/07/2022 18:08

We booked a last minute gender reveal for this afternoon! It’s a boy 💙💙💙 we are keeping it a secret for now, but might as well tell strangers on the internet 😂

chardaboo · 09/07/2022 20:17

@Chanel05 your day sounds exactly like mine. except I had my hair app in the morning ! I was getting purple in it and it surprisingly went blue for no apparent reason (still like it) so thought it was a sign haha.

turns out it's a girl ! she's very active and was so cool during the scan , was brilliant.

I used nubologists and they said 80% chance girl ! so that's quite accurate @DogsAndGin ! it was correct haha

Tofu35 · 10/07/2022 05:25

Day 1 of my holidays and I'm already being eaten alive by midgies! Usually I use anthisan on bites and it works well. So put a small amount on my arm and went to sleep. Woke up at about 3 with this feeling of horror that I hadn't checked if it's safe to use in pregnancy.

Quick Google, and the suggestion is that it's not (mainly due to lack of evidence about the cream but an oral antihistamine is a no go). So scrubbed it off my hand and now wondering -

What can you use for stings and insect bites when you're pregnant??

Amphibian94 · 10/07/2022 12:00

@Tofu35 could you try hayfever tabs like loratadine? Nhs says it's fine to use in pregnancy and also says it can help Insect stings and bites. Might not be as good as a cream but might give some relief!

MariaDingbat · 10/07/2022 12:52

I'm 18 weeks and got diagnosed with GD at 14 weeks this time. Anyone else dealing with it this early? I'm really tired even after a good night's sleep and I don't know if it's the GD or just general pregnancy.

Laughingmole · 10/07/2022 13:04

Ah I’ve just tested positive for Covid! Other ladies who have had Covid, what is the advice from your midwives? Just rest, fluids and some paracetamol?! Im hoping I don’t get it as bad as last time 😬 The joys of working in a school….

TradedAtlanta · 10/07/2022 13:46

@Tofu35 what about calamine lotion? Safe in pregnancy and good on itchy skin

lifechanginglemoncake · 10/07/2022 13:48

@MariaDingbat hello fellow GD Mama! I had it last time from 28 weeks and this time from about 10 weeks. Been thoroughly fed up! Feel free to message me if you like and we can push through together. How are you doing with it? Are you in the GDUK Facebook group?

Janiuta · 10/07/2022 14:38

@Laughingmole I have a covid from Wednesday, my midwife advised paracetamol is safe to use (same what ladies told me in this chat) but other than that only tea/honey/lemon.

Jaaxe · 10/07/2022 14:58

@Laughingmole I’ve just recovered from covid, I felt a lot worse this time than last time I had it, felt like I had bad flu this time but was over and feeling better after a week. I didn’t let my midwife know tbh but just took paracetamol and rested x

Laughingmole · 10/07/2022 18:20

@Janiuta and @Jaaxe thanks that’s what I thought! From what I can see covid is more of a risk after 28 weeks, so shouldn’t affect things now 🤞 xx

Nutella99 · 10/07/2022 23:04

Covid sucks. I have it too. Spoke to the GP and they weren't concerned. I first tested positive on Tuesday and still am today. In fact today's test was what we would call in pregnancy test terms a dye stealer 😂🥲

I hope you others with it feel better soon.

hopefulsunshine11 · 11/07/2022 09:40

Anyone else in the plus size group in here? I'm still not showing at almost 20 weeks, just the belly I always have and doesn't seem harder. When I Google a lot of plus size girls are showing early and I just look the same! I'm a 22-24 but tall(ish).still no flutters either, scan on Thursday and I'm so anxious.

lifechanginglemoncake · 11/07/2022 09:45

Hi @hopefulsunshine11 I'm plus size. I'm a size 20 mostly and an average height. Im showing but largely because the top of my B-belly got bigger!
Try to be assured it's unlikely anything is wrong and it's normal not to feel movement yet.
Check out @plussizebirth on Instagram for some great photos of plus size people looking fab and pregnant. You'll get there. I worried about all this stuff last time and in time it all worked itself out. Don't forget to take some photos of yourself, especially towards the end. If you don't like them at the time don't delete them - you'll want them a couple of years down the line in my experience.

hopefulsunshine11 · 11/07/2022 10:05

@lifechanginglemoncake I think the top part has gotten a bit bigger, like bloated but it could be my imagination. I will have a look at the insta page thanks ☺️. It's just such an anxious time. I heard babies heartbeat at 17 weeks as I had to go to hospital for checks as was getting pain. So I'm hoping all is still ok 3 weeks down the line! I've went up 3/4 dress sizes in 3 years so my body is still a bit of getting used to anyway just hoping I pop soon!

LolaJ87 · 11/07/2022 10:35

@hopefulsunshine11 I'm plus size too, 18-20 and 5'7''. I wasn't expecting to be showing yet but I've had a clear bump from around 15 weeks.

It does vary so much from person to person though and it isn't always size dependent. I met a slim girl last week who had a smaller bump than mine and she was full-term!

Baby could be sitting to your back or you might have an anterior placenta (which tends to make you feel movement later and can make you a bit slower to "pop").

You'll feel so much better after your scan when you see your baby is exactly where they should be 😄

LolaJ87 · 11/07/2022 10:36

@hopefulsunshine11 make sure you take photos as well! You won't see the changes in belly shape at first but your camera might.

hopefulsunshine11 · 11/07/2022 10:44

@LolaJ87 Thanks ☺️. At my private scan the sonographer said my placenta was sitting to the left, so I won't have an anterior one. I'll just need to hold off for Thursday! I think I'll take a photo tonight and then one in a few days. I suppose it's true everyone is different and can develop differently but most people I know that are "plus size" show so much quicker!

lifechanginglemoncake · 11/07/2022 10:51

@hopefulsunshine11 truly everyone and every pregnancy is different.
I can feel the bump even if I can't see it. Mostly this is lying down, often in the evenings. It feels slightly harder behind my belly button. The top of my tummy is harder too which feels more like bloating but I think is actually everything else moving up a bit.
Being able to feel good about body changes is so hard, whether it's through pregnancy or just changes in your weight over time. There's so much expectation which comes from outside and how others look but it tells you nothing about how they feel about it. Honestly the whole experience of being pregnant and then post partum feels to me quite alien as your body sort of isn't your own for quite a while. It's ok to find that weird but fry to be kind to yourself and your body. It's doing a hard job and doing it well.

Chanel05 · 11/07/2022 12:21

@chardaboo oh nice!! Good to have a bit of a pamper too :).

I found out I'm having a boy. We have a daughter already so feel over the moon that he will complete our family 😍. I got 90% girl on my Early Glimpse so they couldn't have been more wrong!! I've been convinced from the start that I'm carrying a boy so I didn't quite believe the Early Glimpse, despite what it says! So excited to have a little boy now!!

Jaaxe · 11/07/2022 12:47

@hopefulsunshine11 im not plus size, size 8-10 and I have no real bump so I’m not sure it’s necessary size dependent. I’ve always never had much of a bump with my pregnancies even towards the end but 2 out of 3 of mine were over 9lbs born, midwife isn’t sure where I hide them 🤣 I’m 16 weeks on wed and nobody suspects I’m pregnant, I’m even starting to wonder if everything is ok in there 😕 got a scan next week though so hopefully that’ll give me the reassurance it is xx

HayleyBean · 11/07/2022 14:03

I find my body changing during pregnancy to be so odd. I swear I've always been on/off a diet since I was 20. I'm now 35 and in the last year I've just been calorie counting and hitting the gym and seeing good results. To go from a flattish tummy (I carry my weight on my arse/hips) to a rock hard bump is so strange. It does feel quite alien and it's exciting and terrifying all at once. I have a very noticeable bump at 17+6 which popped out at 13 weeks. I wasn't expecting a bump til 20 weeks or so, especially where this is my first.

Gioia1 · 11/07/2022 14:34

Hi Ladies. Does anyone have the name of the fb group for this thread?
Thx
