Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

Oh @PinkButtercups I had OC with my first, I really sympathise, the itch is horrible.
There's a really useful Facebook group called ICP Support Group which is fab, it's based on UK research so is really handy if you're also UK based.
Do you know what your bile acid readings were and did you have the bloods done fasted or non fasted?

Oh I hope it was okay for you.

The itch (touch wood) has come pot key calm down since the cream and medication. So I hope it stays that way.

I think she said it was 40? I had that done at 5am and hadn't eaten and only drank water. They took another one at 12 and again only had water and a biscuit. The biscuit I had at 6am so not sure x

PinkButtercups · 18/10/2022 21:04

That was meant to say completely*

Bluebonnet3 · 19/10/2022 23:25

I had my 31w growth scan today but it didn't go as I hoped. They said baby is measuring small, as in under 5th percentile, and that the fetal medicine unit would be in touch later this week to book an appointment for a follow up. They did a Doppler check on my placenta and said it appears to be working, so that's something.

Then shortly after I got home I got a call from the hospital saying they wanted me to come back in and to go the maternity triage unit for some further tests.

I went back in and they hooked me up to a fetal heart rate monitor for half an hour. That and my blood pressure were fine so they just said I'll need to have extra scans every 2 weeks to make sure baby's growth rate is as expected. And if it slows down I might have to deliver early, by induction or c section. They have requested an appointment for me for next week for further investigations (scans or tests I'm not sure which).

Everything seemed to be going so well before today... I'm a little disheartened and trying not to worry. My belly measurement with the tape measure a couple of weeks ago with the midwife was fine, actually a little bit big.

Mommabear20 · 20/10/2022 08:04

@Bluebonnet3 please don't worry! While scans these days are amazing, they're not 100%! I had a growth scan with my first were they said she was very small and needed delivering and probably time in the NICU, she was delivered via induction early and weighed 6.3lbs and was healthy as could be! No NICU stay necessary. We were discharged the next day 😊 she's now a happy, healthy, dinosaur obsessed 2 year old that's trying to steal my breakfast as I type! 😂 worry does nothing good for you or baby, try and take it easy and rest as much as you can, and go into each appointment with an open mind and just see what they say each time. Do you have someone to go with you for appointments?

PinkButtercups · 20/10/2022 10:26

@Bluebonnet3 scan measurements can be so off! It's good that they will keep an eye on you and take the necessary steps. How much did they say your baby was weighing?

Nellynoo182 · 20/10/2022 12:11

Hi everyone!

Is anyone else feeling a bit fed up? I’m 33 weeks + 5 today.

So uncomfortable, can’t breathe, ribs are in agony from being kicked, boobs are in agony, not sleeping, exhausted, and constantly feeling anxious something is wrong!

Can’t wait for the little one to be here now for cuddles 🥰

hopefulsunshine11 · 20/10/2022 13:11

Hi everyone, that's me at 34 weeks now and I'm feeling so anxious and tired.

I have slight high BP of 142/90 and a trace of protein in my urine. Should I panic? GP want me back on Monday to check up on me. I normally have a very normal BP rate. I am convinced I'll have preeclampsia.

Also, my wee one keeps me on my toes with his pattern of kicks, they tell us to monitor reduced movements but also changes. Thing is of course it can change as he gets bigger and could change position? I've felt movement on my left side and normally it's my right. He's more active at night but have been feeling him at lunch more lately.

Not sure what's normal or what's not these days and I'm a stressful mess! Xx

PinkButtercups · 20/10/2022 13:15

@hopefulsunshine11 your GP wants you back on Monday? That's not right.

Our trust would be monitoring you the second you had high blood pressure and protein in urine. I'd phone your local MAU tbh. Usually for high blood pressure at ours even slightly they like you to wait, take it again and repeat the process until they're happy with it or keep you in to monitor blood pressure every 4 hours.

I had protein in my wee but not high blood pressure so they were happy for me to go home and said come back immediately if I had or showed any symptoms of PE. She did say protein can be caused by discharge when not accompanied by anything else.

I'd definitely phone your MAU.

Mommabear20 · 20/10/2022 14:26

33 weeks and 1 day over here!
Getting very uncomfortable here too! Have a midwife appointment on Monday morning, at this appointment with my previous 2, I ended up being sent for growth scans so hoping for one this time too, it seems like such a long time since the 20 week scan!
It feels like she might be getting a little bit squashed in there for her now, every little moment is feeling tight and uncomfortable now 😣
Can't wait for her to be here for cuddles and kisses 🥰

JC84 · 20/10/2022 16:28

@hopefulsunshine11 I rtoo suggest ringing someone to check as they've got chance to see you again tomorrow rather than wait for 3 more days?! I had undiagnosed and missed pre eclampsia for months with my first. I had horrendous pain under my rib which I thought was due to a foot or something and my feet were so swollen I could hardly walk and had to really shove my shoes on so it does go unnoticed by professionals but I am told this time the minute my BP or protein are off I will have to be reffered for scan so they should be checking up on you!? X

hopefulsunshine11 · 20/10/2022 17:11

Because I don't have any other symptoms really they are not overly concerned right now but my midwife is coming out to see me on Saturday now. I don't have any swelling or pain really. Only thing is my eyes have floaters rather than flashing lights and a couple of headaches.

PinkButtercups · 20/10/2022 22:40

@hopefulsunshine11 that all points to PE.
Glad someone is checking you quicker. Of course, it might not be but be insistent with your checks. Don't let them fob you off x

TheOnlyException1 · 20/10/2022 23:12

@Nellynoo182 I'm also 33+5 and currently lying in bed very uncomfortable and unable to sleep due to little one simultaneously putting huge pressure on my ribs and hiccuping.. I feel your pain 😅
I just keep holding onto the thought of cuddles when he arrives too, it's going to be a long 6 weeks at this rate though!

Bluebonnet3 · 20/10/2022 23:15

@Mommabear20 and @PinkButtercups thanks for the reassuring thoughts! They didn't actually say how much the baby weighs. Just that it was below 5th percentile. My DH was with me at that growth scan but afterwards I went back to the triage unit on my own. He said he would go with me if I wanted him to, but I didn't know what I wanted... I knew he had a busy work day. Anyway, I have a regular midwife appointment Fri afternoon, so I'll ask her some questions, and hopefully she will reassure me some more.

Laughingmole · 21/10/2022 17:42

Today was my last day at work (I’m a teacher and it’s half term and then starting maternity leave!) but I got called up to go to the hospital today because my blood BILE levels are raised. They checked on baby and everything is fine but I now need to have weekly blood tests to monitor the levels. Luckily they are only slightly raised atm… not the last day with my class that I was expecting though!

MrsN3 · 22/10/2022 07:41

@Laughingmole when are you due? I’m a fellow teacher too but trying to hold out as long as possible to enjoy the year off with baby so not leaving until halfway through this next term (25th November with baby due 4th Dec)

not the last day you expected but one you will remember for sure! Thank goodness they’re only slightly raised-here’s hoping your weekly monitoring continues to be smooth sailing!

I see so many of you saying about growth scans- I’m average size apparently so don’t need that BUT they believed at my 32 week check baby was breech- said I have till 36weeks for them to turn before they scan. Anyone got any tips on getting baby to move head down? I’ve tried bouncing on the ball and walk around a lot but they just seem comfortable lying straight across me or with their head up (as far as I can tell)

Tofu35 · 22/10/2022 08:51

33 weeks today! I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting so clumsy- I think part of it is not remembering how big my bump is, so a few times I've tried to 'squeeze' past a chair or a door and found I couldn't do it. This morning I managed to walk into a corner of a chest of drawers.
Absolutely no spatial awareness 😅

Mommabear20 · 22/10/2022 10:05

@Tofu35 YES! I got in the car last night to drive for the first time in 2 weeks, only realise I don't fit behind the wheel anymore 😂 we didn't have a car when I was this far along with my other two so never really thought much about not being able to fit! I'm a short arse too so couldn't even move my chair back as I couldn't reach the pedals! 😂 DD wasn't happy and didn't understand why she suddenly wasn't getting chippys for tea 🤣🤦‍♀️

Laughingmole · 22/10/2022 10:22

@MrsN3 I’m also due dec 4th… but I teach reception and it’s been really full on this term. I’ve been struggling the last couple of weeks and I’m definitely ready to finish and relax for a bit before little one arrives! You are doing so well to keep going til the end of November well done!

I’ve heard that being on all 4’s can help them be head down? Luckily my baby is playing ball and he’s been head down for a few weeks now. Keeping fingers crossed that he doesn’t move!

Newparent2022x · 22/10/2022 13:23

Beachy10 · 15/10/2022 14:31

@Chanel05 no I haven't got it booked in yet, I was told that can't be done until 36 weeks. It would be good to know though although I guess if I wasn't having a planned section I wouldn't know either.

Hi can i be rude and ask why some womem are having planned sections as opposed to normal birth? Im due in December 1st time mom and i assumed a section was only done in an emergency. Why have a planned sanctions vs normal labour and pros and cons please

Thanks

Chanel05 · 22/10/2022 13:54

@Newparent2022x I'm pregnant with my second child.

In my first labour, I progressed to 10cm, so fully dilated and my daughter was transverse so after 2 hours of pushing and a failed ventouse, I had a life threatening (for me) emergency c-section where I ended up losing half my blood and needing a transfusion because of my daughter's position and also because I'd been in labour for 33 hours, so my womb wasn't able to contract back properly so stop the blood loss.

Although I'm a good candidate for a successful vbac (vaginal birth after c-section), my husband is still quite traumatised from the events that happened in theatre and we ultimately felt it was safer to have a planned section this time, rather than risk another emergency for me.

stuntbubbles · 22/10/2022 14:20

@Newparent2022x Please don’t call vaginal birth “normal birth” and by implication suggest a section isn’t.

There are plenty of reasons to plan a section: previous section, previous traumatic birth, assault survivor, birth fear, just wanting to, baby’s position, medical issues.

MrsN3 · 22/10/2022 15:51

@Laughingmole oh gosh reception autumn term can be tough but being pregnant must have been full on- enjoy the next few weeks of rest!!
Im lucky as I do subject release/ppa cover across every class Monday and Tuesday then have the other 3 days in my year 2 class and they’re pretty calm.

I’ll defo try some yoga poses on all 4s to get them to move into position- fingers crossed!!!

Sdoubleyou · 22/10/2022 18:32

@MrsN3, check out spinning babies! They have a lot of exercises and positions to get baby to flip. I'm 32+4 and he's oblique; head bottom left. My doctor isn't too worried for now. I can feel him still shifting around and he seems to go into proper position when I'm lying down, but it's still early. Most babies end up flipping into the optimal position between 32 and 36 weeks.
