Hi all, looks like we'll be filling up today or tomorrow. I wanted to create the thread early so we can have a link to the new one. Have a nice weekend!

I'm a lurker as I'm due end of November but could be December. I'm 33 weeks now and so bored. I really really hope baby makes it to term but ideally comes at 38ish weeks 😅. Can't imagine being this heavy any longer, or worse.. heavier! I'm piling on like crazy right now and struggling.

Tofu35 · 10/10/2022 22:43

@Mommabear20 Mondays are for pregnancy yoga and hearing a group of 15 women try to elegantly go from warrior one to two without wobbling or making some nice clicking noise with our knees!

Weirdly since you mentioned a cot, our cot arrived today- I thought it was getting delivered in a few weeks. We don't want to build it yet (healthy superstition mixed with no space for it yet) so it's in boxes in the kitchen! By the end of this pregnancy, my house will look like a postal depot 😂

PinkButtercups · 10/10/2022 23:18

@Nursemumma92 you might get more replies on the pregnancy board for that. I'm sure others have had the same x

28+2 now and feel like I'm about to burst. Consultant tomorrow. Did have a scan booked for tomorrow but they cancelled it as had it done on Thursday because I was in during the week for reduced movements. Twins are only measuring an oz apart at the moment 🤞🏼.

Newparent2022x · 12/10/2022 16:15

Due in December 29th. Currently availing of the joint gp/midwives system.
I'm' worried about the labour and birth. is it too late to switch to private care.

Help

Mommabear20 · 12/10/2022 17:54

@Newparent2022x I'm in England (Leeds) and have had 2 previous pregnancies, labours and deliveries in an NHS hospital and have had amazing care both times and have in this one too so far! IMO private doesn't always mean better. Unfortunately, pregnancy and birth are both very unpredictable and it greatly depends on the care giver, not necessarily the service (nhs or private).

I'd say, do as much research as you can about the hospitals you'd be using, both public and private and base your decision solely on which of those two you feel is best. There will be areas where private hospitals are better, and other areas where nhs are better. Sorry if that's not much help!

greenerfingers · 12/10/2022 20:29

What about home birth @Newparent2022x? I had really bad care first time, second time did a lot of research and opted for home birth, much better care. I also went private for certain parts as here private care is much much better.

Hi all 😊First time poster, I’m 32+4, due December 4th. It’s my first baby and it’s a little girl! Currently waiting to see if I’ll be allowed to go to term with her as I had a growth scan at 28weeks and she was measuring 3lbs 4!

she’s definitely large and in charge as my poor body is being battered with heartburn, indigestion, hip pain and legs that look like small tree trunks😂I have another growth scan on November 3rd so just waiting to see! Meanwhile getting the hospital bag packed just incase! x

Hi @Emetmum22 I've the same due date as you and I'm also carry a large girl 😊 as of Tuesday she weighed 5lbs! My eldest weighed 6lb 13 at 38 weeks and my body can definitely feel the strain of carrying a heavier a baby. Solidarity with the heavy baby aches.
I've been told that I'll likely be induced at 39w which I'm happy about x

Hi @Mommabear20 - just wondering which NHS hospital you used in Leeds? Considering switching so any advice appreciated!

Emetmum22 · 13/10/2022 11:02

Wow @MochaHoldTheMilkAndCoffee congratulations! And so glad I’m not alone in the big baby pains club.

i’ve been told baby is on track to be 9lbs+ 😅 patiently waiting for my 34 week scan to see whether I will be induced early or not. I’m apprehensive about induction as a few ladies I know have said it’s quite tough but I’m ready to meet baby girl!

Hope the last few weeks are as comfy for you as they can be x

MochaHoldTheMilkAndCoffee · 13/10/2022 11:29

Yep 9lb heffer here too @Emetmum22, feels like I'm carrying a bowling ball in my pelvis - she's also currently breech so I'm willing her to turn as I don't want a c section.

I was induced with my first and had a really positive experience, everyone is different so try and not let anyone's horror stories put you off. Good luck with your 34w scan 🤞

TheOnlyException1 · 13/10/2022 13:19

Hi all, I'm currently 32+5, due my little boy December 3rd and was wondering if I could join? 😊 It's DH and my first pregnancy, so muddling through and learning as we go!

Jaaxe · 13/10/2022 14:25

Im thinking I’ll be having a whopper too! Had previous 9lb+ babies and hips and back are aching already and only 29weeks atm. Growth scan at 28 weeks was around 2 and a half pounds which apparently is normal but let’s see what the next one says in a couple of weeks! X

TheOnlyException1 · 13/10/2022 15:09

That's really interesting! I haven't had any more scans since 20 weeks, and don't think I am due anymore - are these growth scans a standard procedure (if you don't mind me asking?) I'd love to know how much little one weighs!
According to the bump measurement at my midwife appointment, I'm sitting pretty much on the 50th percentile.. he certainly feels heavy to me though and very strong! He rolled over and had me leaping out of bed at 3am last night, felt like my tummy was about to burst 😅

Chanel05 · 13/10/2022 20:51

@TheOnlyException1 in my pregnancy with my daughter I was low risk and only had the 12 and 20 week scans. This time, I'm high risk for a handful of reasons so I've had interim scans as well as growth scans on top of the 12/20 week ones.

In my trust, a 36 week scan is now offered to everyone and this has only recently been introduced.

TheOnlyException1 · 13/10/2022 22:14

@Chanel05 ah okay, thank you for the info! I don't think 36 week scan is standard here yet unfortunately. Hope all is going okay with your pregnancy x

Jaaxe · 13/10/2022 23:12

Similarly here, high risk for a few reasons and I have to have scans 3 weekly because of why I’m high risk x

MrsN3 · 14/10/2022 07:15

@TheOnlyException1 I’m the same boat as you- low risk pregnancy so only two NHS scans. We did however pay for an early reassurance scan at 7 weeks (didn’t believe I was pregnant) and then again for a 3D and 4D scan at 29weeks which was incredible to see their face and were told weight then.

I had my 32week check this week and they believe baby is breech currently and if this isn’t sorted by 36 weeks I’ll need a scan then. As sad as it is only having 2 scans it means things aren’t of any concern to the medical professionals so don’t panic lovely xx

TeamBluex4 · 14/10/2022 09:05

Hi ladies 🙂 hope im not interuppting any ongoing conversation but i see some of you are talking about growth scans & babys weight so what im about to say currently fits in with that but its abit more complicated! Well anyway went for another growth scan yesterday as my 1st growth scan at 29weeks showed i had extra fluid than the average, they call it Polyhydramnios, has any of you heard about that or experienced in a previous pregnancy before? (Also have GD too) well since my 1st scan & yesterdays the fluid has increased! So have to go back next week for a scan again to check fluid level so slightly worried by all this as they explained the risks too it.. found out he has gone from being head-down to breech 🤣 & he currently weighs 5pound&2ounces so on 90th centile!.. hope rest of you are doing okay & babies too 😊

@Adenike85 I did NCT with my first and we are all still friends. One in particular I'm very close with and we meet up weekly. My NCT was in lockdown times so we had to do it on zoom, which was a bit odd. Luckily, we were able to meet up after the babies were born and had many days of baby groups and all day hangouts ordering Domino's at someone's house. Of the four of us, three of us are pregnant again.

Hi what does NCT mean?? Does anyone have a list of abbreviations used on this site and what they stand for because i lost when posters use abbreviations.

Newparent2022x · 14/10/2022 15:11

Hi, Can posters please advise. I plan on bottle feeding my new born baby formula. I would like the baby to get the growth hormone benefits of the colostrum. Question can anyone from experience tell me can you breastfeed baby for first day it 2 to get the colostrum then bottle there on after. No abbreviations please until i know what the stand for. Thanks

Jaaxe · 14/10/2022 16:15

@Newparent2022x absolutely you can breastfeed and bottle feed. You can also express the colostrum and give via bottle if you aren’t wanting to breastfeed too, the midwives will help you with this x

Jaaxe · 14/10/2022 16:17

@TeamBluex4 wow 5 pound already, that’s a good size! How many weeks are you? I’m a week and a half off my 31week growth scan and already wondering how much baby will have gained since 28 week one x

Mommabear20 · 14/10/2022 16:33

@Newparent2022x yes you can, I did this with my DS s as my milk never came in with DD so had spent 3 days getting the latch right then had to swap to formula anyway! I'd recommend using syringes and hand expressing colostrum and either giving it from the syringe (I'll be doing this with this baby) or adding it to a bottle of formula. Only thing I would say is if you add it to the bottle and they don't finish the bottle, then they won't have the full amount of colostrum. If you say you want to do this, be prepared for a little pressure to ' just breastfeed' but if you're 100% sure in your decision make sure your partner is ready to stand up for you and both stand your ground. I never had any pressure from midwives around breastfeeding, but I did from 1 health visitor (luckily I only saw her the once) but it took my husband rather forcefully telling her to stop for her to back down.
