@ALittleBitofVitriol yes its my first, I'm 32 weeks now and I think it was the 95th percentile when they did the weight and growth measurements. I've been testing blood sugars over the past couple of days with the needle and testing strips and blood sugars all seem normal as before. I was already worried about birth as I'm quite an anxious person so I asked about my options and they talked about induction or c section. I have my last growth scan at 36 weeks, so hopefully I will get more clarity then! Its scary when they start talking about risks factors with bigger babies, they mentioned hemorrhage and shoulder dystocia and tearing. I know they have to keep you informed of all the risk factors but it just seems like all versions of birth come with risks! Not great for someone who is a worrier haha. My partner was born 10 pound and I was 9, 5 so both big babies 👶🏻

greenerfingers · 08/09/2022 08:10

For what it's worth @Elle1709 I was 9.5lb and as a family we produce big babies. I was spoken to regarding the same risk factors but declined all intervention as the growth scans are so inaccurate. I'd have been induced or taken for an elective c section at 39 weeks where baby was measuring 10lb. I had a lovely risk free home birth to a 7.1lber at 40 weeks :).

CurlyNo2 · 08/09/2022 08:25

I had a haemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, tearing etc with my son who was only 8.2lb so it can happen at any time. I was having a lot of growth scans throughout my pregnancy as he was predicted to be huge, but he wasn’t, he was just very long. Scans can be very inaccurate.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 08/09/2022 11:49

Hugs @Elle1709, sorry you're feeling worried! Yes, I'd definitely think that you and partner both being very decent sized babies would predict you also being able to grow a big 'un! 😄 You are right, all births come with risks, and you need to make the choice for yourself. You don't have to go along with any offer you're not comfortable with. Fwiw, I didn't tear with any of my kids and my biggest was the quickest, most straightforward birth of them all.

Does anyone else feel like they can't breathe? I know breathlessness is normal but it feels quite sudden and I have a bit of a cough with it, which I'm not sure is common? Otherwise I don't feel unwell as such. My heart feels like it's hammering but a quick Google suggests that is normal due to increased blood flow etc.

I'm only 29 weeks and carrying quite low, not sure how I'm going to breathe by 40/42 weeks!

Ccatalina · 08/09/2022 20:37

@tb4122

I feel short of breath more recently ( 30 weeks tomorrow) and paired with the return of dreaded axid reflux 🥲 This can cause me to have coughing fits which has lead to vomiting a couple of times. Sounds worse than it is in my case, but I think because we're so squashed up in the third trimester.. it often feels like any meal I eat is sitting under my breastbone !

Double check with your midwife just to be safe! This is my first baby so I literally haven't a clue what is normal or not! Sorry I cant be of more help!
X

First for me too, so no prior experience to draw on. I had bloods taken last week and no follow up phone call, so I'm assuming it's not because I'm anaemic.

My acid reflux is a bit worse lately but it's not making me cough. It's like a tickly cough but not in my throat, the feeling comes from the middle of my chest. It might be a viral thing and not related at all but I don't otherwise feel unwell.

GeorgieEm · 08/09/2022 20:55

@tb4122 I've been experiencing this for a couple of weeks. I'm 29+4 today.
I was told I had anemia 3 weeks ago and on 3 iron tablets a day. I've seen that breathlessness is a symptom of anemia. It has got a little easier but actually struggling this evening so I feel your pain! It seems worse when sitting propped up.

Maybe get checked with your midwife. Although I also think it's baby growing & squishing all the organs together which makes things very uncomfortable!

Ccatalina · 08/09/2022 20:57

@tb4122

Do you have badger notes? You could double check your results. But as far as pregnancy experience goes " no news seems to he good news"

It may well be caused by acid reflux, it sounds very similar to what I experience.. maybe suck or chew on a rennies and see if it helps! X

tb4122 · 08/09/2022 21:15

@Ccatalina I don't have badger notes. I'm guessing it's not an app or anything that I can get?

I'll go and drink a bit more gaviscon and see if it helps. Feel like I've been living on it for months!

Ccatalina · 08/09/2022 21:20

@tb4122
Badger notes is an app my midwife used to log all my details including test results, sorry, I just assumed it was a universal thing 🫢

Oh I definitely can relate, Im constantly crunching on antacids! Hope you feel better soon X

CurlyNo2 · 09/09/2022 09:30

I got a cancellation appointment this morning for my whooping cough vaccine! 😊

SouthwestSis · 09/09/2022 18:46

Is anyone else managing to get themselves a covid booster jab booked?
I'm sure with the weather beginning to turn that it won't be long before cases start going up again.

Beanniebaby22 · 09/09/2022 22:01

@CurlyNo2 thats good you got an appointment!

@tb4122 @Ccatalina Yes the heartburn is killing me too 😩 guzzling so much Gaviscon. And feel very full all the time aswell. Bump seems to be sitting quite high up.

@SouthwestSis Im not sure if I will be getting another COVID booster. Will probably take the Flu vaccine though.

My night time leg cramps are back again. Felt like screaming last night when it started. Normally if I stretch my toes towards me it goes away but no joy this time. Could feel the muscle trying to pull back the other way. Was excruciating! Eventually had to jump out of bed and try walking to get rid of it.

greenerfingers · 09/09/2022 22:45

Currently getting restless legs again, not sure how I'll sleep the next few weeks..

CurlyNo2 · 11/09/2022 19:20

Hope everyone is feeling ok.

I’ve been getting a lot of pressure under my bump/down below especially when I stand or try to walk. It’s really sore.

By the feel of baby’s movements I get a lot of kicks down below but also to the very far upper right of my bump. Do you think the pressure is where baby is lay or do does it sound like I have an infection?

Ccatalina · 12/09/2022 03:13

@CurlyNo2

from around 27/28 weeks I experienced a lot of pressure/ pulling/ stretching near my pubic bone. At the moment any walking I do also feels like my skin is going to tear under my tummy button ( just over 30 weeks) I agree its very sore and uncomfortable but I think its due to the baby growing.

I'd definitely give your midwife or doctor a call if you're worried about infection just in case! X

CurlyNo2 · 12/09/2022 03:19

Thanks @Ccatalina thats reassuring. I’m meeting my midwife on Wednesday so will speak to her then.

insomnia is really bad the moment for me. It’s 3.20am and I’ve been awake for the past hour. Just can’t get comfy lying on my left side that I end up being awake for hours as I can’t then get back to sleep. It’s soul destroying to think I’ve another 10 weeks of this. I don’t mind lack of sleep, it’s the uncomfortableness lying down 😩😩

TFMinx · 12/09/2022 03:36

I've been awake since 1:30. It's infuriating knowing my alarm will be going off at 6:30 and I've now been awake for two hours with no sign of sleep ahead. I've been to the loo, changed sides and now currently in the spare room. Nothing is working!

Ccatalina · 12/09/2022 03:43

@TFMinx @CurlyNo2

If it's possible you could try a warm bath with epsom salts before bed. Been using them the last week or so after not being able to sleep and they've eased a lot of aches and seem to make me drowsy.
Funnily enough I didn't use them this evening and im awake! X

GeorgieEm · 12/09/2022 03:46

@TFMinx @CurlyNo2 I'm exactly the same! Insomnia is driving me crazy! Can't get comfy and can't sleep for more than 2 hour blocks at a time! People say 'get your sleep while you can' ! If only! It's nice to come on here though and see I'm not alone at this time in the morning x

greenerfingers · 12/09/2022 07:16

Hey @CurlyNo2 do you have a good pregnancy pillow? And I found an infection felt more like constant need to pee but without actually any pee as well as pressure. I generally have a lot of pressure and pulling but when I get that coupled with the constant urge to pee then I usually know it's an infection. Always best to get checked however.

Beanniebaby22 · 12/09/2022 07:34

@CurlyNo2 @Ccatalina I’ve had that discomfort behind my pubic bone on and off from 18 weeks too. It really does feel like UTI pain to me but my urine is always fine when they test it. Must just be the ligaments stretching.

Bramblecrumble22 · 12/09/2022 11:33

Also got insomnia at the moment. It's my daughter's first full day at school so I feel as though it's from anxiety from that and generally feeling like an ineffective mum. I'm not too unfomftable...yet. did try sleeping on my front on pillows with a bump hole, then kind of side front. Slept between 11:30-3:30. Got up to go to the loo, then decided to get some things ready for my daughter. Then went back to bed. Had no sleep. Got up at 5 when I had a headache and just read a bit, had a hot drink pottered about. I have nothing specific to do today which is a plus. I've put dinner in the slow cooker so I can nap after lunch. I've also bought some Horlicks. Last pregnancy I had insomnia from early and really stressed about it. This time I'll take it as getting into the routine of napping and resting while awake at night.

CurlyNo2 · 12/09/2022 12:52

Thanks all. So nice to see so many of us up at silly o’clock too 🙈

I have a pregnancy pillow that I haven’t really got on board with. I then have 3 pillows behind my back to stop me rolling backwards, and another pillow under the head section of the pregnancy pillow. I’m normally a front sleeper so to have to lie on my side doesn’t feel right.

I’ll try everyone’s suggestions tonight, I really dread going to bed lately as it is relentless. I got more sleep when my son was a new born 🤣
