@CurlyNo2 yes! Exactly like this when I need a wee. Like I have to hold everything in. I didn't have it with either of my other two so can only assume it's the fact I'm carrying differently this time. Hopefully it's nothing more than that. It started really early on too. Today I've also woken up with what I presume is the wonderful addition of thrush 😖 apparently very common in pregnancy but again I've not experienced it before. In fact I've not had it for about 8 years. Going to have to seek out a pharmacist today I think

sarahj878 · 20/08/2022 19:59

@Elle1709 sorry to hear you’re struggling with sickness still. Not sure if there’s any truth in it but I got told achey legs can be a sign low in potassium, if you can stomach it bananas are great for this so might be worth a try!

sarahj878 · 20/08/2022 20:02

@Bramblecrumble22 sorry to hear you’re having tough time of it, good news on your husbands sobriety tho! People will always have something to say about stuff that doesn’t affect them, just do what feels right for you with work

@greenerfingers my SPD is getting worse as the weeks go on, am 26 weeks also, glad yours has eased! Nothing I’m trying seems to be helping unfortunately

ALittleBitofVitriol · 20/08/2022 23:49

Hi @CurlyNo2, could it be vulva varicose veins? Is it painful? My SIL had that and some special brace/underwear stuff has helped a lot. I would definitely mention it.

Sorry to hear things are difficult at the moment @Bramblecrumble22, hope you guys can work through it. Everything is more intense at the moment. We're having some family difficulties here too, not with dh but with our teen, and the tiredness/stress judt compounds everything.

greenerfingers · 21/08/2022 01:22

@sarahj878 sorry if I sound repetitive, is it your first? My first I was on crutches by now. I was terrified of this pregnancy as spd started even earlier at 9 weeks but a midwife told me getting deep tissue massage of the thighs by a professional will really help. I was skeptical and after the massages my sciatica would be so bad for 3/4 days but actually I noticed each time after those first few days of severe pain I'd have no pain or really reduced pain. I try to go every 5/6 weeks but finding someone is obviously tricky. I'd go more regularly but I have a toddler and it's expensive too.

sarahj878 · 21/08/2022 15:02

Hi @greenerfingers no my second, I had some pain with my first but nowhere near this level. I might look into that after speak with physio thank you!

NotAdultingToday · 21/08/2022 20:54

@GeorgieEm do you know what i cant remember! I think they are. Mines just a blood test this time round. Im very proud i have remembered not to eat! I have been eating lots all day in preparation!

@Elle1709 welcome! Sorry you are feeling so rough! Would you like me to add you to the due date list?

@OtiMama i know what you mean my 5 year old is slowly killing me 😂 most days i have to have a nap and im just tired all the time.

@Bramblecrumble22 im sorry you are having such a hard time! I wish i had some advice for you. Men just dont get it sometimes. I always think pregnancy and the early months with baby put such a strain on a relationship.
My work are the same really looking after me telling me off for even sitting on the floor to find something in boxes and checking on me. Wheres at home im carrying on as normal. Husband swings from being sympathetic to rolling his eyes when everyday is something else wrong.
Its been hard as he is working long hours and hardly here so its me and ds, and im just drained while trying to fit in two days of work as well (which is draining and stressful in its own way!) and keep the house going theres just no respite!

OtiMama · 22/08/2022 03:38

@Beanniebaby22 thanks, I couldn't remember from last time if they do any more bloods after the initial appointment ones. I'm going to ask my midwife about it when I see her.

@Bramblecrumble22 sorry things are strained between you and your partner. You are definitely right to say to him how you feel. I think it's near impossible for them to realise how hard pregnancy can be on a woman. I said to my husband I know it sounds silly but I just can't do things like i usually can and its as frustrating for me but you don't understand how physically demanding it is.

I'm awake now, since 3am. Just so annoying, my pelvis is hurting so I expect that is the issue. I had none of this last time, I feel about 80! Even rolling over is hard work on my body. Still got 13 weeks to go, it is going fast but yet still seems so long away. I've been bouncing on my gym ball earlier, so going to keep doing that more than sitting on the sofa at night and see if it helps. Last time I barely sat on the sofa and do wonder if that made all the difference.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 22/08/2022 03:56

Had a scan this morning, bub is over the 90th percentile in size (1.7kg at 28+4) and very comfortably frank breech 🙄 his feet were up by his head. No wonder I'm so darn sore! 🙏 he turns!

GeorgieEm · 22/08/2022 07:57

@NotAdultingToday good luck! I'm here now. Ready for the long wait! 😊

NotAdultingToday · 22/08/2022 08:01

@GeorgieEm i am too! Im starving 😂 good luck to you too!

@sarahj878 Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely give that a go and hope it helps with my leg pain! I did treat myself to a massage which helped alot for a few days but then I felt back to my achy normal after that! @NotAdultingToday Hi 👋 yes, that would be great thank you 😊

Thanks all for the kind comments. He does a lot around the house and with our daughter. And he's a keen talker and listener, I just feel like I'm not getting my thoughts out talking to him and he thinks it's been a good conversation and I don't. And we still bicker a bit, I'm anxious about us visiting my parents for a week as DH shared some concerns about it.

This morning I woke up grumpy, tiered and achey. I felt better after moving but am feeling emotional about my DD starting school. I'm also anxious about not having the rota and work and needing to book childcare for September. Her first full week at school I have got a letter through for a scan and obsectrics appointment to discuss results. However, they are 5 hours apart! I called up to say about collecting DD from school so could it be earlier. They said no earlier appointments but if I explain when I get there I might be able to see them sooner. I could book DD into after school club but it's her second day so I'm tempted to skip appointment if I can't do it before pick up. She'll be doing after school club when I work.Urine test would be good. I'm low risk, getting scans because on one side uterine pi measure one time. On top of that I called my midwife about changing appointment day before Obstetric appointment because I don't need both. I've only seen her once as previous midwife left. She said she's going on mat leave end of September. I couldn't bring myself to say congratulations. I was expecting the same midwife thorought my pregnancy but it's not working out. It's a different one each time so far.

I'm just both done with being pregnant and don't feel ready to give birth.

GeorgieEm · 22/08/2022 18:31

@NotAdultingToday how did it go? The drink was disgusting! & had a complete sugar crash this afternoon followed by a huge nap!
I've been told my results will be available in a couple of days x

mjb0616 · 22/08/2022 20:36

Hi everyone :)

I only just found this thread and so glad I did. it’s really nice to hear how you are all getting on. This is my first child so all new.

thank you for all the info on the glucose test! Mine is on weds but good to know what to expect now

NotAdultingToday · 23/08/2022 10:06

@GeorgieEm it was fine, just a blood test for me but there was about 5 of us with an 8am appointment so that was a bit annoying. Ds was so good bless him and charming everyone so that helped. I didnt ask about results 🤦🏼‍♀️

I tested positive for covid this morning!! Not impressed i have gone this whole time without catching it!

@mjb0616 welcome 😊 its a lovely little group we have and nice to share with people who are going through the same thing at the same time (the only people who can get it!)

@Bramblecrumble22 oh bless you! Have you tried writing it down and explaining it to him that way?
What were his concerns about your parents?
Its always emotionally when your first starts school but it will be ok im sure she will love it.
The childcare side of things is stressful until you get into a routine but hopefully that will happen quickly for you.
Can you not ask to change your appointments until the following week? Give you some breathing space?
I have seen a different midwife/consultant at each appointment because im having all my appointments at the hospital. To be fair im not that bothered but im heartless. I can see why some people would want consistency.
I have felt the same about being fed up of being pregnant, juggling life and feeling rough. And every time i think about giving birth i panic so just not thinking about it 😂 i think its just a stage or have you felt it for a while?
Dont forget hormones are all over the place still so affects mood day to day. Sorry if that seems obvious!

Hi, joining with a 10th November due date for my first baby (which looks like it's going to be a girl)! Lots of late babies in my family though so kind of expecting it to be a couple of weeks later.

I have also seen a different midwife each time, apparently I've only got one more person and I'll have seen the whole team... And I had my 28 week appointment yesterday and need to have the GTT as well. I was a bit surprised as I don't have any risk factors and have put on about a stone so far which seems to be normal, so I'm feeling bad for all the treats I've been having (not sure if I can call it a craving but doughnuts have been going down very well and getting some appreciative kicks I think)! I asked about the results and she said I would get them back within a week.

It's a bit early but I've been wondering, as it's my first and I don't know how I'll cope with everything, what is everyone thinking of doing for Christmas with their new 1-2 month old baby?! I live half an hour away from all my family but my husband's family are three hours away so we're trying to work out the best way to let people see the baby at Christmas without stressing ourselves too much. Both sides are very helpful and wouldn't expect to be waited on but I'm not sure if even just seeing people or moving the baby to a different house will be difficult?

greenerfingers · 23/08/2022 11:40

For what it's worth @ab03 I found it easier travelling with a newborn in many ways. Just feed, poop and sleep. You'll have a few weeks to decide once baby is born so see how you're getting on. I think the 3 hour journey would be a bit much for me as I breastfed so would have to keep stopping off to feed and then back on (and newborns can take an era for one feed) but the half hour journey doesn't seem too bad or if your families visited.

Feb85 · 23/08/2022 12:16

Hi all, so decided I might treat myself but I was wondering as mixed reviews online is it safe to get Gel polish manicure & Gel polish pedicure in pregnancy?

smiles39 · 23/08/2022 14:24

@ab03 not too early to plan Christmas! I’ve planned that we will travel to my family (1hr 20mins away) for 3-4 days leading up to and including Christmas Day. Then pack up and drive onto his family (1hr 30mins away) for 3-4 days on Boxing Day. This way I will get waited on hand and foot with no pressure to cook a Christmas dinner, can focus on being with baby and aunts/uncles/cousins can come visit the new baby from where we are stationed if we are up for it. I hosted Christmas last year because I was hoping I’d have a little bubba and the family’s could pay back the favour when most needed haha.

sarahj878 · 23/08/2022 14:55

@Feb85 I’ve had gel manicures throughout and I did last pregnancy too. I’ll be having mine soaked off before due date due to having a c section though and nail polish not being allowed. Be prepared for regular upkeep as my nails have grown much quicker whilst pregnant and also weirdly my nails have reacted slightly differently to some polish this time, my beauty therapist said it can happen due to hormones.

mjb0616 · 23/08/2022 16:01

@ab03 @smiles39 sounds like a good plan.. I did not think this through and it is our turn to host Christmas this year🤣 hopefully it will be smooth..

Ccatalina · 23/08/2022 16:25

@Feb85
I switched from gel to dip powder when I found out I was pregnant. I also always wear a mask in the salon because of the fumes. X
