@Yecats22 i got my first period on Sunday baby was 4 weeks and 3 days old I am not breastfeeding thought I was shocked.

Northofthebordermum · 06/07/2022 14:58

@Yecats22 nope, but I didn’t have one for 9 months with my first (EBF) baby so not expecting one any time soon!

beansprout55 · 06/07/2022 14:59

Anyone thought about contraception?
Haven't used it for so so long as we were trying for ages... and before that I just avoided ovulation but knew the risk and didn't mind.
Coil is a no no. What can I use that won't give me spots or make me depressed? 😂😂
I'm breastfeeding.

@Yecats22 im two weeks on and still bleeding and changing pads numerous times a day from the birth, apparently that can go on for a while so I wouldn't have a clue if I had my period at this time! @Flowerbug1994 when did your post-birth bleeding stop?

Flowerbug1994 · 06/07/2022 15:25

@beansprout55 my bleeding stopped a couple of days shy of 3 weeks I think. I didn’t bleed bad at any point nothing more than a heavy period most of the time had a couple of gushes that made me stop and go oh god (sorry if TMI) but nothing major. Period is not heavy and no pains.

Yecats22 · 06/07/2022 18:42

@Flowerbug1994 yeah that sounds like the same as me I was convinced last month it couldn’t be my period already but the 2nd one has arrived this morning. I was the same as you no heavy bleeding and stopped just after 2 weeks.

Rolledthedice · 06/07/2022 18:53

What bouncers/rocker chairs are people using? Also do you have a playmat? My baby is only small (6lb 2oz at birth) so I’m worried most bouncers will be too big for her. She gets bad gas so isn’t keen on being on her back but I know a playmat helps with tummy time.

sunflower198 · 06/07/2022 20:08

@Yecats22 not yet, baby is 5 weeks and I'm not bf so I am waiting for it to start soon, I think from memory with my first it started around the 6 week mark.

@beansprout55 I tracked my ovulation pretty well for 2 years after my first but I don't plan on having any more and I am worried that I'll get dates wrong one month, so I need to work out a plan with contraception. OH is open to having the snip so I'm going to enquire about that when I have my GP checkup as I really don't want to go on contraception unless I have no other choice (mainly because my skin is so much better when I'm not taking anything!)

sunflower198 · 06/07/2022 20:09

@Rolledthedice I haven't got a bouncer yet but looking at them as baby doesn't like lying on his back for too long either.
We have a playmat which is great hit for tummy time and I like that I can fold it away so the house isn't always full of baby bits!

RooSut25 · 06/07/2022 20:47

@beansprout55 I just got the contraceptive implant fitted last week - not had it before so hoping it agrees with me! I'm planning a second baby in the next couple of years but definitely not too soon! @Yecats22 No period yet but apparently the implant can mess with them as well, and I'm breastfeeding, so it's just a guessing game for me.

@Rolledthedice we have a playmat which my little one loves - she can entertain herself for 10/15mins on it, and we do tummy time on it as well. She's already reaching out for things! We do have a Fisher Price bouncer chair which was a hand-me-down, but she's less convinced by that at the moment - I think it will become an essential once my husband goes back to work though.

Prema112 · 06/07/2022 21:39

I was gonna ask when peoples bleeding stopped, mine is still going at nearly 4 weeks, it's v light but then get the odd gush so have to still wear a proper pad and it's irking me.

With 1st baby my period returned at 10 months, EBF. So not expecting it anytime soon 🤞🏼

We have the baby bjorn bouncer and we love it, Jesse has used it loads already and seems to like being more upright rather than on his back all the time. Gonna get the baby gym out soon!

Letsbekindplease · 06/07/2022 21:48

Feel like I’m ready to crash and burn here
I’ve been up since 4.30am and haven’t napped. And of course I’m watching Love Island because I hate watching it the next day( I’ll go to bed after lol)
im just wondering what I’m doing wrong. Baby screams and screams, a blood curdling scream, for 3 hours straight at night time. I don’t know what to do. I think it is a bit of wind build up but when I look at her little face, she is absolutely exhausted. It’s like she can’t fall asleep so screams. I feel useless and like I can’t help her. It’s so difficult.
Mia there such a thing as a baby that doesn’t do this!? My son was exactly the same and I didn’t know what to do then.

im getting up so early because when her feed falls around 4.30/5- it’s so light outside and I can’t seem to fall back asleep. I stay awake and watch tv because I’m worried that baby won’t go back down to sleep

sorry, feel like I’m moaning here.

Prema112 · 06/07/2022 21:52

@Letsbekindplease Jesse screams for hours in the evening and nothing helps, it's really hard, but totally normal apparently. it's called PURPLE crying- see below. It gave me a bit of hope that at least it's normal

EarlGreywithLemon · 06/07/2022 22:20

We have the Baby Bjorn bouncer too, and also a newborn attachment onto a high chair - it looks like a bouncer, but it’s fixed and waist height, if that makes sense. We got it for our daughter originally and it’s a godsend when we eat dinner.

Still bleeding here (4 weeks +) but I also bled for ages with our daughter. My first period last time was at around 12 months, so hopefully the same this time - fingers crossed.

Letsbekindplease · 07/07/2022 02:08

@Prema112 excellent read, thank you. Lasts up to 4-5 months…Hod I hope not. It’s every night too! Im
sure my son was 3 months when it stopped. Hoping it’s the same or earlier

just giving little miss her feed. She went from 10pm - 1.30am and took an ounce. Sleeping again haha. Trying to get her to take a bit more so she doesn’t wake up too early. She’s not having it though.

Octoblockisadick · 07/07/2022 03:03

@sunflower198 my husband is getting the snip, he has an appointment on Monday to go through the details. He's going private as local nhs waiting lists are over a year 😯

sunflower198 · 07/07/2022 06:48

@Octoblockisadick ah that is interesting, I didn't realise it would be that long a wait 😬 We might have to enquire privately too then!

Octoblockisadick · 07/07/2022 07:36

Yeah @sunflower198 , round here the average weight is 56 weeks after the referral is received, and the referral can take up to 6 weeks. I think the shortest option was 49 weeks! Could have had another baby and be pregnant again in that time haha. Think my husband said it's going to cost about £400 private

Prema112 · 07/07/2022 15:49

Anyone have any recommendations for light airy babygrows that cover legs and arms? I'm finding the hot weather/no suncream until 6 months combo tricky, he needs his skin covered but I don't want him to boil!

Prema112 · 07/07/2022 15:51

We may have another so wouldn't want hub to have the snip yet but it's good to know the wait is over a year, will get the referral well in advance! So just condoms for us for now as I'm not taking anything

Octoblockisadick · 07/07/2022 18:57

Same @Prema112 , I don't want to go on any contraception because it seems a bit pointless. I can't take the combined pill due to breastfeeding but the mini pill didn't agree with me when i took it after my daughter. And i dont see the point of any long acting contraceptives.

I have such an unsettled little one. She screams all night and eventually just shuts down because she’s exhausted from the crying. She’s full of gas. Her little butt has been pumping away when she’s in discomfort.
we
use infacol and I’ve started making her bottles from the kettle rather than the perfect prep to rule that out of it’s causing the wind.
she’s fell asleep on my bed and I’m scared to move her to her bedside crib incase I wake her.

I have a feeling I’m in for a restless night tonight because she has slept a lot today and early evening before she started crying.

How are you going ? I feel like I'm the same. I find it so awful for the bub Sad

Flowerbug1994 · 08/07/2022 13:29

@Letsbekindplease @laurenGame i was using infacol from 4 days old as my baby has always suffered with his wind. He’s 5 weeks now and about 5 days ago I read somewhere that infacol can make it worse. I went cold turkey with gripe water at the ready as I thought he would be in agony but surprisingly he has been amazing and wind just flying up when giving him a little rub. It’s even coming up on it’s own.

Letsbekindplease · 08/07/2022 15:46

@laurenGame last night was the first night she actually slept through it! I am amazed although she seems to have slept a lot in the last 24 hours

she had a feed of 5oz at 1.30 am
1 oz at 5am
4 oz at 8am (but sicked up a lot of this)
she then slept till 1pm and then took 4oz and I think I’ll wake her up soon for a feed.

I didn’t do anything different last night apart from take her a walk just before the witching hour. She was so relaxed and calm but started crying on the way home. She fell asleep in my arms before her bath and that was her until 10pm where she had a wee feed and fell asleep. Couldn’t believe it!

@Flowerbug1994 glad it’s coming up a lot better. I also do little circles when she’s sitting up having a wind. It seems to get the bubbles moving and she brings up wind on her own.

this is a bit embarrassing but is anyone suffering with bad sweating ? I never really sweat or get BO but the last 2 weeks I’m having to shower x 2 daily because of sweating and smell. Apparently it’s totally normal. Horrible though.

laurenGame · 08/07/2022 16:44

@Letsbekindplease yes sweating is normal when breastfeeding! I'm in Aus and it's winter and 5 degrees at night here and I wake up drenched in sweat. Totally normal Smile

laurenGame · 08/07/2022 16:45

@Letsbekindplease how old is she ? Sounds like she is improving her sleeping !!
