Anyone 3+ Weeks post birth still bleeding? I’m on clexane still as high risk and today the bleeding has proper ramped up back to fresh red and clots. Not sure if this is because I’m on blood thinners, the toilet was so red, though! Sorry for the TMI, it was just dying down to the point I thought it was stopping. 😭

RoseValleyRambles · 02/07/2022 13:50

@vimto1991 mines gradually decreasing. If there's clots, I'd call in for a POV. I think their response will depend on the size n

Annabell1 · 02/07/2022 16:35

Thanks everyone ❤️
@ChildOfFriday and @Turniptracker Congratulations to your babies! 💕 Xx

@Prema112 we also have our Tongue tie appointment at the Royal Free. But she was born there as well. Two more weeks. 🤞🏻
@Clomid1 I'm also expressing and feel a bit like I can't leave the house. I mean I'm not ready yet 😅, but hopefully soon. I'm also using the Bellababy electric pump and I'm really happy with it. Very cheap and powerful. Sometimes I get 300ml in one session.
@beansprout55 I think I would prefer to breastfeed completely, but for us it doesn't work because of her tongue tie. Hopefully things will get better after the procedure. I'm glad you managed to make it work though! 👏
@Vimto1991 I'm also 3+ weeks since birth and still bleeding. Hopefully it stops soon.
Anyone else feels like they have such a weak pelvic floor? I'm so afraid of getting a prolapse 😬

RoseValleyRambles · 02/07/2022 16:37

Anyone finding their babies are catnapping rather than sleeping during the day? Any tips or solutions?

EarlGreywithLemon · 02/07/2022 17:51

@Vimto1991 bleeding on and off here too. Some days there’s more, some less. I’m also on blood thinners for a total of six weeks. No clots here though, so maybe worth checking about that. I’m sure it’s fine, but always better safe than sorry with these things.
@RoseValleyRambles my understanding is that in the first few weeks they don’t really have a consistent sleep pattern. It’s certainly the case with our little boy.

Then again, our older daughter never was, or is, a good day time sleeper. She was, and still is, very inconsistent and never settled into a pattern. Eventually I gave up trying to shoe horn her into set nap times, as it was just making us both miserable. I’m quite go with the flow though about these things, so that might not work for everyone.

I’m very curious to see if her brother is similar, or different!

Vimto1991 · 02/07/2022 18:04

@EarlGreywithLemon @RoseValleyRambles @Annabell1
thanks guys! It was only the one clot and wasn’t large (I’m sure in hospital they said anything bigger than a 50p?). I stocked up on like three more packs of pads 😂 no one tells you about pp bleeding!

Rolledthedice · 02/07/2022 23:25

@MrsTwentyNine That’s so great you have come to terms with the combi feeding guilt. I’ve still some way to go but the idea of EBF is looking less appealing as currently baby wakes up every 2 hours through the night and it escalates pretty fast to crying which I think is because I’ve been trying to get her on the boob more. Latching is still not amazing and like others I pump in between so it’s all just quite intense. My other half and I are also doing shifts and I couldn’t function without this survival tactic!! I don’t know how you EBF ladies do it on so much broken sleep, big respect to you all!

Rolledthedice · 02/07/2022 23:28

Oh I meant to ask - what formula are people using? And how much do you tend to pump each session? I’m playing catch-up with milk supply as had a slow start with BF. I powerpump 3-4 times a day and only just started getting 30mls.

Slanketeer · 02/07/2022 23:55

@Rolledthedice Not sure if this would help but have you tried something like the Haakaa? I was feeding every 2 hours and pumping in between to try and boost supply which like you say was super intense and even then I would only get about 10-20ml each pumping session. I bought this which is like the Haakaa www.amazon.co.uk/NatureBond-Silicone-Breastfeeding-Air-Tight-Hardcover/dp/B01LZ2ZVCY and just stick it on the other side while I'm feeding and easily collect 50-100ml each time depending on time of day. It's been brilliant for us as it's meant I can completely ditch pumping and get back that time between feeds and the volumes I get are so much better than from pumping.

laurenGame · 03/07/2022 14:40

Hi everyone, hoping for any advice from people.

My little boy is 4 days old and he wants to be held all the time. He won't chill on his own, he won't sleep anywhere but me, no matter how much I've fed him etc.
i try to put him on the bed next to me sometimes, he usually cries until I hold him but on the rare occasion I put him down when he's fully asleep - even that lasts about 30 mins until he wakes up and cries.

Swaddles, blankets, white noise, laying next to him/hugging him, etc - I've tried everything ...

I just want a sleep that's longer than 1 hour Sad or have a nap in the day; atm I can't even do that as he needs to be help or rocked. I'm so so tired.

Letsbekindplease · 03/07/2022 15:01

@laurenGame I’m in the same boat although baby girl does go down after she glass into a deep sleep. Morning and before bed is the most difficult times. It’s really hard. You’re doing a fab job. Baby just wants comfort and finds that from you. Just a phase. Can you share the load with someone ?

Clomid1 · 03/07/2022 16:03

@fpeg thanks that helps at least I know not to go for the medela one. I am expressing 8 times a day so do need something a bit better.

@beansprout55 I can’t even get her on a nipple shield at the moment. I read your post and thought right I am going for it but after 45 mins of not being able to get anything I felt bad and just gave her expressed milk 😞. Thanks for the recommendation on the pump. My spectra S2 is really good I get a lot out of a 10-15 min pump but I need something mobile so that I am not stuck in the house for the next 6 months.

@MrsTwentyNine thanks for the review of the Elvie so probably not worth the £400ish price bracket it has.

@Prema112 9am

@Annabell1 are you solely expressing too? It’s such a nightmare trying to make sure supply does not drop.

@Laurengame I find my daughter sleeps better after a bath. Most midwives said once a week with top to tailing in between. But there are some that say you can give them a bath everyday. I’ve chosen to listen to the ones that say you can give them a bath everyday 😁😁😁 but please don’t listen to random me on the internet and ask health visitor/midwife first.

Vimto1991 · 03/07/2022 16:10

@laurenGame my dd is almost 4 weeks and is like this. She likes falling asleep in what I think is comfort feeding on my breast, if we try and move her it’s really hit and miss if she will stay down or wake up and want to be held again.
when She was around 4 days old she cried a lot for more food and turned out my supply wasn’t fully in so she was constantly hungry, I was in hospital at the time and no one helped me over night when I needed sleep. How is your supply? Does she seem well fed? Do you have someone to help in shifts through the night?

Vimto1991 · 03/07/2022 16:12

My c section scar started scratching, just checked and the stitch is hanging out one end. I’ve given it a google and people say their doctors normally snip it out or it goes away on its own. 🤢 fml, nothing has been straight forward this whole experience.

we are calling the gp for dd’s stomach. Her poos are still frequent (between 4 and 7 a day) and loose/mucousy so I’m worried it’s CMPA. 😞 along with wind/bit of sick/hiccups just worried as she seems to never be truly content.

Flowerbug1994 · 03/07/2022 18:05

@Vimto1991 ask doctor about your stitch they left a stitch in me and I ended up having to go hospital with an infection before it was found they thought they had gotten them all out when they removed them at home.

my baby was pooing lots a day to start but it has slowed down to 1 to 2 a day now but he is struggling with wind and hiccups he also has pimples which I assumed was baby acne is now making me think with other symptoms is it cows milk allergy as my nephew had it. He’s also been a bit sickly a after bottles last few days.
let us know how you get on think I’ll call GP in the morning

Vimto1991 · 03/07/2022 18:29

@Flowerbug1994 oh no!! Glad you got sorted in the end! Mine are dissolvable but don’t think it can dissolve sticking out of me! 🙈

dd also has spots I presumed were acne but wondering if it’s a rash as a few more spots have appeared. There’s about five on one cheek and two on the other. Let us know how you get on also! It’s so horrible when they’re this small isn’t it. :(

RoseValleyRambles · 03/07/2022 18:55

Anyone got any magic buys to share? Mine so far are cheeky wipes - so much better than cotton wool or wet wipes for removing pop - and mam glow in the dark pacifiers. Ooh, and h&m wrap front vests.

What are you loving, or thought you'd love and find you're not using?

Flowerbug1994 · 03/07/2022 19:23

@RoseValleyRambles ohhh looking forward to everyone’s must buys !! As a formula feeder I love my prep machine bottle ready in 2 minutes is a dream !!! Also never have enough bibs I’ve got about 30 or so and I really feel there needed. Tommee tippee growbah changed our sleep settles so much better it think it’s because he feels all snug.

Prema112 · 03/07/2022 19:47

@laurenGame congrats on your baby!! Hope your labour was a good experience.

So sorry to hear you're not getting a break with baby waking every time you put them down. My first was just the same and it is exhausting, I really feel for you. As others have said do you have people to support you? Someone to hold baby while you nap?

I just thought I'd share our recent experience here as it may help others. Jesse has been crying inconsolably since he was about 4 days old before he will go to sleep. It's been quite exhausting rocking him and trying to get him to sleep. I'd try feeding him and he'd get really angry at boob and keep pulling off and screaming. Turns out he wasn't hungry, just massively over tired. We've worked out he can only do 30 mins awake time, not the 90 mins we'd read newborns can do! So now I feed him when he wakes (he's kinda still sleeping on the boob) then he gets a burping, nappy change and 30 mins awake time then back to rocking him to sleep and he doesn't cry much and just goes to sleep!! It will probs all change in a few days but if anyone has a baby that cries for hours try shortening their awake time, may just do the trick 🤞🏼

RoseValleyRambles · 03/07/2022 19:50

@flowerbug1994 we have the perfect prep too, and I agree - don't think we could manage without it!

RoseValleyRambles · 03/07/2022 19:52

@prema112 Interesting - I suspect a similar cause for our little one's mid morning wakefulness... I'm giving him some playmat time, but perhaps it's too much. Is your 30 mins inclusive of feeding and changing?

Prema112 · 03/07/2022 20:21

@Flowerbug1994 Growbags look great- thanks!

Annabell1 · 03/07/2022 20:23

@Clomid1 Yes I'm mainly expressing too. I'm offering breast as well, but she is not very efficient. I have read that you should pump or hand express for an additional 5 min, after you are done pumping, to increase your supply. Oats and (malt) beer should help as well. You can of course go for the alcohol free version.
@laurenGame I have used my pillow case as her fitted sheet so her bassinet would smell like me. It worked for us. All the best! Xx

Prema112 · 03/07/2022 20:24

@RoseValleyRambles Not inclusive of feeding as he's usually still kinda asleep during that, although occasionally he is awake for the feed and then it would be included. We basically count the 30 mins from when his eyes are open and he's alert. He starts grizzling and yawning at around 30 mins then we do sleep routine

laurenGame · 03/07/2022 23:45

Thank you @Vimto1991 my supply is decent and I'm using formula where needed so don't think he's hungry

@Prema112 yes I had him last weds. Thank you so much 😊 induction didn't really go to plan as baby wouldn't push so we had to wear off my Epidural then I had to give birth with no pain relief and via vacuum. Was in agony and got 2bd degree tears.

We are fine now Smile apart from the fact I can't even go to the toilet as the baby is on me all the time, my husband helps but he's working and we always presumed I'll fully take care of the baby myself whilst he's at work.

Baby won't sleep anywhere but on us and it's exhausting us and we just feel like we really thought it would be a happier experience Sad I really wish he would sleep oh chill anywhere but on me/husband. Even just for one hour.
