@RedElleJ I saw that @STom2 had taken a digi at 5+2 and it was showing 2-3 then took a few days later it was 3+ so please don't be defeated just yet it could be the dates are off by a few days or the hCG was building at a different rate? Maybe give it a few days

@Victoria98 I would get back in touch with the midwives to see if they can help otherwise as another person has said perhaps go private if you can for another scan.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm feeling little cramping these last two days and it's got me paranoid but I'm telling myself it's all normal because it probably is and it's just that we feel things different after a mc with questioning everything!

@Victoria98 so sorry sent the last one without typing and can't seem to delete!
I hope you're OK and get some sort of clarity and reassurance soon.

STom2 · 25/06/2022 06:55

@RedElleJ This was exactly me last week so I understand this feeling. At this stage HcG rises roughly every 48 to 72 hours. So I left it 3 days before taking another digi. So I tested 2-3 at 5+1 and 3+ at 5+4. When pregnant with my DS (perfectly healthy pregnancy with zero issues) I got my 3+ at 6+1. So when I didn't get it initially this time around I told myself I wouldn't read into it until I had at least reached 6+1. I've read absolutely tonnes of forums with women saying they didn't get it until nearer or after 6 weeks (and some not at all). When I got my 3+ last week I still had zero symptoms as well. It was another 3 days before I experienced any nausea. I'd try to rationalise it that way if I were you. Test again if need be, but IMO 5+2 is still early for a 3+ on a digi.

Maya12345 · 25/06/2022 06:58

Thanks for your lovely welcome messages yesterday everyone! I wondered if anyone could offer any advice please -did your doc prescribe baby asperin or progesterone after having one mc? Mine basically said they won't worry about doing anything different unless there's been 3 mcs.. I'm tempted to go back and ask for the prescriptions, particularly the progesterone anyway. I'm just so worried it could happen again but I don't know if those prescriptions are actually necessary or not.. Thanks x

madeinthe80z · 25/06/2022 07:06

@RedElleJ I know its hard and won't help you feel much less anxious but as the others have said this is soooo common. That's why I didn't test for the 3+ for ages. Are you going by your own dates or NHS dates?
My NHS date is currently 6+5 but I know based on ovulation tests I'm definitely only 6+2.

CNizzle · 25/06/2022 07:08

@Maya12345 my GP said the same, unless I'd had a bleed. but as this is an IVF pregnancy, I spoke to the doc at the hospital, and she was happy to prescribe progesterone until 12 weeks. I'm completely paranoid that it will mask a potential miscarriage tho. Not sure if it's actually eased my mind.

CNizzle · 25/06/2022 07:10

@RedElleJ I've read that some women never get a 3+, the threshold is meant to be very high, and sometimes urine dilution affects them. I still had 2-3 at 6 weeks, so I had to stop with them. There's progression on frers that I've done so I'm leaving it at that.

Pleasenotagainn · 25/06/2022 07:40

I want to join but I’m scared it’s already over for me

I had a missed miscarriage in March at 17 weeks, the baby had stopped growing just after my 12 week scan 😢 We’ve only had sex once since but this week I’ve felt so ill and been sick a lot and thought I had a bug, until I did a test which said 3+. Going off my period (6th-9th May) and the one and only time I’ve had sex since my miscarriage I should of been 7+2 but the EPU scanned me yesterday and although there was a heartbeat it only measured at 3.2mm, so 5+3. I’m so upset. My dates got pushed back a week last time and look how that ended. My dates can’t be wrong, there’s only one possible conception date Sad

Pleasenotagainn · 25/06/2022 07:41

16th May was the date we had sex. It’s just not possible to only be 5 weeks. Baby can’t be growing 😢

RedElleJ · 25/06/2022 08:22

Thanks for the reassurance @STom2 @madeinthe80z @CNizzle - think I just won’t do anymore. No point feeling like crap if it keeps coming back 2-3.

I always struggle to tell the difference between my dates and the NHS one - I ovulated 2nd June according to my natural cycles app so what would that make me? Sorry if that’s a stupid/dim question, I swear I am not dim 😂

@Maya12345 i did some research and we can get progesterone- my GP even agreed…I’ve attached a pic of the text they sent me. They have gone quiet though so I’m not holding out much hope for them getting back in touch. However, it would only be prescribed if you started to bleed so I don’t think you could get it as standard. I have wondered if maybe it is available privately though.

Really sorry to hear what you are going through @Pleasenotagainn I can’t even begin to think how you must be feeling. We’re they reassuring at the scan after you mentioned your dates at all? I’m not too clued on up the pushing back of dates but I would say if you were really concerned call EPU, especially as you had a 2nd trimester mc…they should see you I would have thought. I am so immensely sorry for you loss in March 💕 Sending you lots of love, positivity and hope that all will okay this time x

Sorry @MooBugz missed your tag on that one.

HarryPotterGeek84 · 25/06/2022 08:42

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing as okay possible in this anxious time! Congratulations on the 3+’s!

I’ve been really struggling this week as had some spotting and strange cramping and was sure it was over, but spotting seems to have stopped and apparently the progesterone can cause these things, so I’m not sure what to think.

@Pleasenotagainn I’m so sorry for what you’re going through, and keeping everything crossed that it turns out ok at your next scan, could it be possible you ovulated later or were you tracking? I was in a similar situation with my first pregnancy when it was actually a week later that conception happened and sometimes early scans can be a few days off, I know my dates changed at my 12 week (like you, I unfortunately lost her after my 12 week scan). Hoping your dates may just be off as it’s really positive there is a heartbeat.

@RedElleJ Try not to worry about the 3+, it could be you ovulated later than your app says, I know I do despite a regular 28 cycle. For some reason I ovulate 2 days later than my app says and last time that meant my 3+ was delayed.

Victoria98 · 25/06/2022 08:51

I should have been 7 weeks and 1 day on my first scan based on my last period however the scan showed 5/6 weeks.

There was a gestatIonal sac With a yolk sac With no feral pole.

They did say that this is Normal but measuring behind my last period date and was too soon to see a heart beat.

After the scan I started bleeding heavy then I was before so it’s a waiting game.

Have you had a first scan done ? X

Maya12345 · 25/06/2022 08:54

Thanks @red

HarryPotterGeek84 · 25/06/2022 09:19

@Maya12345 Hi Maya, I’m on progesterone and baby aspirin after 1 miscarriage, but I did have to go private to get it. My GP wasn’t very helpful at all after my miscarriage, so I decided to go private to try and figure out what had happened. I’m sure if you make an appointment with a private consultant they will prescribe it for you.

I do think it’s helping as I bleed constantly for 12 weeks with my first pregnancy and other than some spotting one day with week (which I think may be the progesterone causing some irritation), I’ve not had any other bleeding.

Skylark1990 · 25/06/2022 10:20

Lots to catch up on. firstly I'm so sorry @Victoria98 and @Pleasenotagainn for the difficult situations you are both in. I can really empathise with the worry - I do think as others have said it would be worth badgering the EPU to get another scan asap @Victoria98 as the bleeding would really concern me. as others have said, it can happen and everything be fine but like you I'd be scared.i hope you're ok. I think sometimes a period like bleed can happen in early pregnancy if it was a twin pregnancy and one is lost. I don't suppose they mentioned that as a possibility? @Pleasenotagainn I really hope you get some clarity soon on dates ❤️ sounds like a really difficult situation to be in. I'm sorry I do t have more answers for you.

@RedElleJ so sorry to hear the 2-3 has thrown you. Please don't worry to much if poss, like others have said it's so so common for the tests to lag behind a bit and 5+2 is just right on that threshold of 3 weeks so very very common to not get the 3+ at that point esp if dates are off. Does natural cycles say how many weeks and days you are?? I used to use natural cycles and I think it did for my first pregnancy? I'd definitely go off those dates not the NHS ones as ovulation date is much more accurate. I ovulated 30 May and I'm 5+5 today so that's 3 days ahead of you, but that's based on my 13 day luteal phase. If going with an expected NHS luteal phase of 14 days I think I'd be 5+4 today. Anyway, you do sound to be about 5+2 but as everyone said it's still v early into that 3rd week. If it eases your mind maybe test again on Tues when you're a bit further into this week. Otherwise I hope you can get an early scan ❤️❤️❤️ please try to stay confident in your body, it will be ok xx

@Maya12345 as @RedElleJ said you can get prescribed progesterone or baby aspirin after one MC but the problem is MC is caused by so many different things and very often it's nothing to do with progesterone or blood clotting but simply the quality of the embryo, or some other thing... It's so hard, as humans we want to be able to remedy and fix and do all we can but if we started taking progesterone when we didn't even know if low progesterone is what caused the previous losses it could cause further issues. Do you know if progesterone is why you had your previous loss? I think often bleeding in early pregnancy is linked to low progesterone. You could get a blood test to check your levels I think if you wanted to see if all ok, that might then give you the reassurance to trust your body or alert the doctor that you do need some help. You can do progesterone Checks privately too if doctor won't do (they should tho if you had a previous MC!) Re aspirin, again it really only helps for specific things - and I read it can actually cause bleeding for women who don't need it to stop the excess clotting - as it things the blood. So definitely not something that is just harmless...
In the absence of knowing exactly what caused my losses I am this time focusing on a really good quality prenatal & omega 3, lots of rest and good food while I can before the morning sickness kicks in. It's so hard and I get it. So definitely speak to your doctor and maybe some tests could help you figure out a plan for this pregnancy if needed ❤️

Skylark1990 · 25/06/2022 10:25

*things the blood - sorry, typo there!

Update from me - definitely have covid, test came back positive yesterday 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ I am not feeling too bad which I am so grateful for and just hoping it doesn't get worse. DP has DD in with him overnight so I had a better night sleep and I got to sleep in this morning too. Luckily DP feeling a bit better although still rough and DD is coughing loads so she almost certainly has it! Haven't attempted a test on her yet.

Just hoping it passes me by quickly... Taking vitamin and zinc but I'm not sure if the other things that are good for immunity like echinacea and olive leaf are ok in pregnancy so annoyingly too nervous to take those! Just hoping my system fights it off ok.

@MooBugz have also had some cramping a bit last two days. Also got worried! It's only been fleeting and mild though. I'm sure it's normal... So easy to worry tho! ❤️

Skylark1990 · 25/06/2022 10:25

Lol did it again! *Thins the blood. Autocorrect!!

Skylark1990 · 25/06/2022 10:27

Oh and @BEL88 I am also on the other due in Feb / march thread, I actually set it up 😂 but like others I seem to have made closer connections in this one so far, everyone is so lovely... The other thread is great too but I think a bit bigger. I tend to post more on here but I'll stay a member of both.

Very keen for FB or WhatsApp for this one when we feel ready ❤️

Maya12345 · 25/06/2022 10:31

@Skylark1990 thank you so much. Completely agree. I think blood test would be the way to go and at least would rest my mind if hormone levels are OK. I have had a lot of implantation spotting, almost a week's worth which is now making me nervous it hasn't stopped! However line progressions looking good still and I'm only 12 dpo today so hope that's normal.

Sorry to hear you have covid! My husband tested pos yesterday and I'm trying to stay well clear of him! Hope you're not feeling too ill with it and it doesn't get worse for you and fam! X

Victoria98 · 25/06/2022 10:56

Yh it’s just the waiting game now. I don’t think it was because there was only one sac on the scan I had.

Skylark1990 · 25/06/2022 10:58

@Maya12345 you are welcome! If you have had spotting for a while then yes definitely an idea to get a blood test to check levels, or even do straight to epu and ask them about it with regard to progesterone, I know spotting / bleeding can be linked to it. Hope all ok, and like you say 12dpo is early and glad and progression looks good! Our bodies do such weird and wonderful things and so easy to worry ❤️

Thanks re covid, Def feeling a bit rough. Sorry to hear your husband has it! Hope you don't get it x

MooBugz · 25/06/2022 11:04

@Maya12345 everything crossed for you you hear of women who have a normal period all the way through pregnancy or in early stages maybe your one of them 😩 but defo best to get checked or else you'll stress yourself out second guessing.

@Skylark1990 sorry your feeling rough did you end up catching it too you think? Hopefully your not suffering too bad and the worst is over with.

I just sneezed and got a shooting pulling pain was so sore! I forgot about the ligament stretching and everything can feel weird in the early stages lol
