Baby January 2023!

Anyone else due January 2023?! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant with baby #2. If my dates are right, I'm 3+6, due 27th January! My daughters a Jan baby, but was due feb (she was 3 weeks early). May just must be a very fertile month for us! We fell pregnant last May too, but never met them😢.

Evening all… no update from me. Went for a walk and now my back is in agony and baby must have moved down cause standing feels like I’m in labour but when I rest nothing 😩

Oh @Jusmakingit! I'm sorry, it must be so bloody uncomfortable. I really thought baby would be here quite quickly after the mucus plug.

It's so frustrating when everything hurts and it's such a long waiting game. I hope baby gets a move on soon xx

@Jusmakingit no update from me neither. Made myself go out today to do a bit of walking myself but 30 mins and I am done my back kills. Also broke out in loads of spots on my face too which I don’t normally have! Also finally got the birthing ball thing blown up today and have had a go, did maybe 10 mins and got bored 🤣

Update again : no baby lol I was in so much pain I went and got checked last night and midwife did another sweep but was a bit more erm ..: ‘thorough’ lol but weirdly enough went to sleep early with so much pressure and pain . Woke up once for a wee , no back ache , no pressure no nothing everything has stopped even all my pain from my fall has completely gone overnight which now I’m worried my body has just stopped and my induction Monday will be harder work than I hoped for. I’m still only 2 cm but she said cervix is nice and soft but I don’t even feel preg now.

With my DS, I had this just before he was born. The night before I went into labour, it was like my body gave me the ultimate rest to get my body ready for labour. I slept brilliantly, I felt rested, nothing hurt, then bam, here's labour for you 😂

@TokenGinger Omg i hope so, my mum said the same. So we will see, clean bedding on , house tidy, bag packed etc so if nothing by monday 6am il be heading to the hospital anyway lol 16 hours to go lol i think ? my head is a bit mashed lol. My lady area feels so bruised from the fall still lol i want the drugs haha any and all lol. how are you getting on ? x

@Jusmakingit I totally agree, I bet your body is getting itself ready so enjoy it while you can! Also Sod’s Law it happens before you go in anyway!

Nothing new with me… struggling with my back now even more, can’t get comfy in bed and walking makes it worse. Since my episodes a few days ago if not getting off the toilet the opposite has happened now 🤣 however last night randomly laid in bed and had to run and was sick. Probably greedy and ate too much! Sweep tomorrow, I’m so interested to know if any development from my last sweep but it will be a diff midwife so won’t be a good comparison!

Eeek, almost 12 hours now for you if nothing changes. How exciting. How are you feeling as the day has gone on?

We're doing really good, thank you. The night feeds are killing me but other than that, she's doing great. My infection has cleared up now I think, so I can now hold baby against my chest without excruciating pain which is a win win.

Good luck with the sweep tomorrow! I hope it all goes okay. I can't wait for the updates! Xx

my day started well but this evening has just gotten to me. Nothing like a good emotional breakdown, mainly because my DD who is 5 is literally acting like a teenager and has been getting worst the last few days cause everyone keeps telling her ‘baby will be here soon’ or ‘this time tomorrow baby will be here’ I think it’s causing her stress which she isn’t realising cause she’s just been rude and argumentative with me and wants daddy and not me , which usually is the other way round. I’m so anxious about the induction cause of my horrific one I had with DD . I just really hope it goes smoother.

lots of emotions and anxiety. I’m sure il be fine once I’m there and I have some form of drug in my system lol 😂 omg can’t wait to get a nice bottle of something once baby is born . Maybe that’s the medicinal remedy Iv been missing lol 😂 I looked at my baby app and noticed the amount of days Iv been preg for (I’m not overdue but still seems long) - grand total of 273 days !

@TokenGinger is this your first baby, sorry if you mentioned before. Glad your infections going down, it’s frustrating when you’re not very mobile and have a baby needing some good cuddles.

@H44123 i know how you feel about the walk and bad back. Get a nice warm bath , I stretched my back out yesterday and omg felt so good lol 😂 little things in life. Get yourself a massage booked once baby is here. Also food : I can’t get enough of. I could eat everything in the house. Never felt more hungry at the moment but so worried incase it comes back to haunt me lol 😂

@TokenGinger glad your feeling better. Lovely hearing how you have been getting on, makes it all so much more real!

@Jusmakingit a massage will definitely be booked once baby is here! Yeah don’t over eat… I was sick again tonight but again because I ate too much. I don’t know why I don’t learn to be honest! Good luck for tomorrow I am so excited for you!!!

@H44123 how did your sweep go?

I went for my first sweep this morning but the midwife was unable to do it as my cervix is still closed 😕 feeling disappointed. Got another scheduled for Wednesday to see if there's been any change but doesn't look likely. Feeling really confused as don't know what to do next, whether to wait longer to see if baby comes naturally or to have an induction. Thing is I feel fine and not uncomfortable, baby is fine so don't know what to do for the best but now I'm over 41 weeks I'm going to have to make a decision soon.

@Charlie023 so came in at 7, think they put the balloon in maybe half 9 after monitoring etc. straight away having pains , I’m sure they are contractions but need to dialate more or until the balloon drops out. I wish it would cause its every like 10 mins having this back and abdomen pain, they have to be contractions. I’m just eating as much as I can when I can cause the pain has drained me. They have offered pain relief but trying to put that off until it gets worst, it is painful but I’m sure it’s going to get worst.

baby must be comfy in there. Not sure how long you can go over but if everything’s ok then they will likely leave you to it.

@Jusmakingit fingers crossed for you that the balloon works quickly and doesn't cause too much more pain. You're being brave not having any pain relief yet.

They seem to be encouraging me not to go over 42 weeks as I would have to go to the hospital daily for checkups. Think I will try again for a sweep on Wednesday then go for induction at the weekend if labour hasn't started. Was really hoping to avoid induction though as I don't like the idea of the hormone drip and everyone says it's horrific.

@Charlie023 if you don’t have a ‘favourable’ cervix they may do a c section. Inductions aren’t bad if your body is actually ready for labour. It can just be lengthy like this balloon thing, you can go home with it in for 24 hours and if it falls out at home then you go back . Midwife said cause I’m already 2 cm and lost my plug it shoudnt take long so hopefully by evening something may have progressed. Forgot have bloody warm the labour ward is though 😩
obv If your cervix isn’t open then they will force the balloon in , they pump it up when it’s in you. So to get from 0 to 3/4 cm it can take a few days or could happen quicker .

@Charlie023 just had my sweep. Still got bloody thrush, I thought it had gone but apparently not. Not that it’s causing me issues I don’t even know when I have it!

She said cervix is still quite far back but it is open and she managed to do a bit of a sweep. She said from the notes of my last sweep not much difference. Got another one booked for next Monday is nothing happens before then she will tell me when induction is booked for, possibly next weds/thurs depending on availability at hospital so we will see!

Im like you, would rather avoid an induction but I don’t find a sweep comfortable at all. Possibly because they can’t get at my cervix.

@Jusmakingit Look at you resisting pain meds - go you!! Especially after your fall and pains from that! Hope you’re doing ok and it’s progressing for you!

Update is : balloon fell out , felt a pressure and it popped out. It was like the size of a satsuma 😳 that goes in the cervix. So she checked baby and she said baby was getting excited , just very active. Cervix now gone from a 2 - 4 cm but she could stretch it easily to a 5 so just waiting to see if these tightenings get stronger. So far nothing more than more intense period pain but hopefully the night staff will break my waters and get it moving cause a second baby you can go quiet quickly apparently so they don’t wanna give me a pessary or gel . Fingers crossed for a night birth

@H44123 Ahh a bit disappointing for you too today then with the sweep.

My midwife said baby is fully engaged, cervix is low and soft but just no dilation yet. I'm really hoping something happens in the next few days.

@Jusmakingit sounds like things are progressing well for you and won't be too long until baby is here, so exciting for you x

UPDATE : Alice was born at 10:28 today , weighing 8lbs 1 ! But she looks so tiny still. She is very placid , barely cried and is doing fab.

i did no pain relief until 5-6 cms and then they wanted to do the drip to get things moving as it had been 12 hours to get me from a 2/3 to a 5/6 ,so epidural. The ramped the drip up to 16 😳 at around 7, then by had a sleep for about an hour while the epidural hit its peak and then she was ready . An all female cast of anaesthetists , midwife and healthcare . It was so calm and relaxed I’m so glad I gave the induction a chance . Even though I had the epidural I could still feel her as she came out which was a very strange feeling lol but one that can not be beaten or described xx

Awww @Jusmakingit, I'm so happy for you! My DS was 8lb1oz and I agree, he still felt so tiny. Gorgeous name, too. Alice was my top girl's name but my brother pipped me to the post and that's my niece's name.

I hope you manage a little bit of rest on your first night with her tonight ❤️

I thought something might be happening this morning. Woke up at 5 with a dull pain across front of bump similar to mild period pain. Kept me awake for a bit but no consistency. So forced myself back to sleep and woke up now with nothing!

Congratulations @Jusmakingit on your baby girl. So pleased it all went well and you had a good induction experience. This definitely makes me feel a bit more positive about mine now. I saw the midwife this morning, a different one to Monday, my cervix is less favourable than first thought and still closed so doesn't look like baby is coming any time soon on his own therefore going for induction tomorrow as no point waiting any longer when I'm already 10 days past due date.

Morning or evening , not sure which one lol hope you’re all ok. How is everyone doing? Anymore signs ?

a post preg after effect I completely forgot was the amount of bleeding and also your uterus contracting back to its original size which feels like …… drum roll … period pains lol , also your back and stomach muscles are still trying to hold the baby but since your drop however many lbs your muscles don’t realise and they just ache … but it’s obv worth it when baby is smiling and pulling silly little faces in their milky comas. Luckily I’m home already - upside of not having a c section or complications. Only issue was with the epidural one leg was effected more and I couldn’t use it all afternoon - ended up literally collapsing on top of a HCA who was lovely about it (and cleaned my rear up after my wee since i had no feeling there) It angers me so many people bash our healthcare staff cause there’s no way I could have done this without there support. They’re all so nice and lovely and nothing phases them. It still feels embarrassing but the pain and uncomfort your in and I needed a wee so badly , you just get over the shyness lol 😂 the glamour of having a baby

Glad you’re both home and settling in. I think I feel ok in my mind if I have any ‘accidents’ when I Labour or after and like you will be grateful for the help. I have a big box of choccies in the car ready to give the midwife’s after.

Nothing really new for me expect I still have bloody thrush, it just won’t go and although it wasn’t itchy before it’s started to get itchy a bit now which is annoying.

When I wiped this morning I had the slightest bit of pink tinged discharge only tiny and nothing since, no idea what it means but I don’t think I would have got that from a pessary for thrush so still a waiting game!
