Hello!

I have noticed on quite a few of the threads I've been reading that the odd person will comment they are pregnant with twins, but I can't see a current twins thread.

I'm almost 28 weeks with dcda twins. Have a nearly 2 year old as well. Have so far found the pregnancy pretty straightforward but the aches and pains and tiredness are starting to hit me now. And I feel like I am getting quite large! Although I think relatively given there are 2 in there I'm probably not that big really.

Anyone at a similar stage and want to compare notes over the coming weeks?

Hi. I am 28 weeks tomorrow with MCDA twins. I have a 3 year old daughter already. I am similar and getting fatigued and achey over the past week or so. Same here, so far so good. Although I am high risk of preeclampsia and obstetric cholestasis due to having these in my last pregnancy. But having fortnightly scans and consultant appointments keep me reassured everything is alright.

Do you know what you are having? We are having identical girls

Ah thanks @doingitforthegirls, I've seen the multiples board but doesn't seem super active and also seemed more about after they are born... which I def need to clue up on too but trying to get through the pregnancy first!

@Donimo - awesome, congratulations! We are one day apart then as I'm 28 weeks on weds Smile no I don't know what I'm having. I feel like it's going to be 2 boys! Making 3 boys in totall, yikes!

I was kind of lead to believe twin pregnancy would be AWFUL so I'm just waiting for reality to hit, stretch marks to start coming, diastase recti etc. Every day that goes by without any of these happening feels like a massive plus. Aches and pains I can bear, but am quite addicted to my baths atm.

@applecrumbler

I recognise you from the infertility boards - I was on one with you briefly but name change all the time as the mood takes me! 😂

I didn't get stretch marks at all with my twins and other than tiredness and achey bump which meant stayed on my sofa from 20 weeks onwards (Thankyou lockdown!) I enjoyed my twin pregnancy!

Have to say a year on I'm in the best shape of my life - lost a stone and a half! Eat what I want as just need sugar to get me through but barely get time to sit down and eat so currently getting away with it 😂

Hello, so pleased to find this thread.

I am currently 8 weeks 4 days with twins.

Not sure what type yet but feels like a completely different journey to those with single pregnancies!

Any advice or support welcome :)

Hi @quinnbaby hope you are pleased with the news which is obviously still very fresh to you! I can't tell you anything about twins but can reassure that my twin pregnancy has only just got hard now. Obstetrician told me a few weeks ago that 28 weeks would feel like full term.... 27 weeks didn't feel like 39 weeks so I was feeling hopeful, but it has just taken a significant turn for the worse this week! Countdown is on though - 9 weeks or so to go.

Do you have other children already or is this your first?

@applecrumbler thanks for your words of reassurance!

This is our first pregnancy, fell naturally on 2nd month of trying! So the baby news itself came as a welcome surprise then twins was a real shock. We had a private scan 2 weeks ago, so I have had 2 weeks to come to terms with it and now I couldn't imagine having a single pregnancy. I have my booking appointment tomorrow which I am looking forward to, to understand the antenatal care.

Do you have a planned birth? It is good to here you are coping well so far, so many things online make you think it is going to be the worse high risk pregnancy possible!

Hello!! I'm currently 30 weeks with DCDA girls! I have an almost 3 year old boy. I've had the most rubbish time with this pregnancy (as I did my son's - emcs at 30 weeks), twin 2 has no waters and IUGR, and I've been bleeding since 24 weeks but it's just a matter of waiting and seeing as they seem happy enough in there right now!

I'm currently on bed rest and very very fed up!

Trinxsy · 03/05/2022 13:03

Sorry!! I know that isn't very reassuring to anyone, my body just really doesn't like being pregnant Confused

applecrumbler · 03/05/2022 13:24

@Trinxsy oh you poor thing! Do you have a date planned to evict given the circumstances?
I'm on voluntary bed rest too if that makes you feel any better, but only because I'm suffering severe work motivation issues!

@quinnbaby I'll be having a planned c section but I haven't set a date yet. My dc came via emcs following failed induction and that was only 2 years ago so I think I'd be quite a bad candidate for vbac anyway even if it wasn't twins, don't think I can be induced via the drip this time due to risk of uterine membrane. Also I have zero interest in delivering twins naturally, lol. Figure I have one scar already, may as well limit the damage to one area!

That should say uterine rupture, brain fart.

Thank you for starting this thread @applecrumbler and congratulations to all the twins mamas 💐
I'm 19 weeks with dcda twins, finding out the sex next week. I've also got a 19 months old, a 6 year old and a 8 year old. Never thought I'd have so many children but I'm over the moon at having twins, it's always been a dream. I was feeling very nauseous during the first trimester but now I'm fine and putting on weight quite fast, which I'm not very happy about. I'm hungry all the time at the moment, did you have this too earlier on? I imagine the further we go, the less room for the stomach to be full.

What travel system are you all going to go for? I cant believe how expensive things are 😱

Hi ladies! I am 36 weeks with DCDA twins and scheduled to deliver via c section next week. I have started feeling exhausted over the past 3 weeks so I would recommend having the bulk of things done by 32 weeks if possible and then put your feet up!

Report
quinnbaby · 03/05/2022 15:08

it is so exciting reading about all you ladies that are so much further along that me!
I have recently lost 4 stone 10lbs before we started TTC and now I think it is going to go back on again! Still going to follow slimming world with this pregnancy and hopefully the twins will keep me busy and help it fall off again afterwards!

@Betseyrov travel systems are so confusing for twins! What are you thinking?

Report
doingitforthegirls · 03/05/2022 15:22

@quinnbaby
If it helps I was back to pre pregnancy weight within 2 weeks of giving birth to my twins - mainly due to breastfeeding! 🥳

Betseyrov · 03/05/2022 16:49

Well done on the wright loss @quinnbaby that's a massive achievement! Have you got any morning sickness yet? I know that's what kept me from piling on during the first trimester. But now I feel like I'm gaining weight just by looking at food. I'm still within the normal range but that's because I didnt gain anything during the first trimester. My husband tells me to stop obsessing but I always end up enormous and would like to avoid it this time as contrary to @doingitforthegirls breastfeeding does not make me lose weight, only dieting does.
For the travel system, I'm thinking a bagoboo donkey or montain buggy. They're over a grand though 😱 but cant see anything else I like
What about you?

Congratulations to all you twin mums to be! My twins just turned 2 and are so much fun. You’re in for a treat :)
I also lost my twin pregnancy weight within a couple of months, mainly due to bf and not having time to have lunch!

Congratulations!

Mine are 11 now, MCDA, turned up at 31 weeks. Pregnancy was awful, good news is as soon as they were delivered I felt great probably the drugs

I had a Donkey, they were just out then but it was a PITA, it really is massive. Once they were out of carry cots i got the BJCM twin and I loved that pram. I sold the donkey, bought the BJCM and next stage car seats and still had money left over...it may be different now, there wasn't much of a second hand market then.

I was lighter at delivery than I was before conception, they take up a lot of space, it's hard towards the end to eat much.

Yep had morning sickness for about 2 weeks now but it graduated from nausea to actually being sick at the weekend! I am not able to eat much before 12 which is sad as I love breakfast! Mash potato and baked beans are my friend though 🤣

At the moment just eating when my body is telling me too and I what I fancy but will hopefully get a little more routine back once the sickness has passed.

twins is such an exciting and special journey. Feels so unique!!

I am also thinking the bugaboo donkey but they are so pricey! The out and about looks good too.

what did everyone do with same room sleeping? I always wanted a next 2 me but I heard it’s not big enough for 2 babies.

put a photo of the tiny beans below when we found out there were 2!! What did your twin 12 week scans look like?

Hi everyone. I had awful morning sickness till about 17 weeks too and lost 3kg in my first trimester but putting it back on now!

We are getting the bugaboo donkey travel system, I prefer the side by side prams. And have maxi cosi pebble car seats, I really struggled to find 3 car seats in the back of my car to suit newborn twins and a 3 year old, but I have now managed it. But my husband is needing to buy a people carrier!!

For those who haven't found it yet the twins trust website is an excellent place for resources and we did a twins antenatal class and beeast feeding class through them too which I would recommend.

I am having a planned c section at 36 weeks. And that is less than 2 months away which I am now finding a scary thought!! @LuckyTigress a week to go, how are you feeling?

@Trinxsy sounds like you have had a tough time. And bed rest sounds very boring. But hope your 2 are doing ok.

Twins are brilliant!

Get as much iron into you as you possibly can. They do suck the life out of you.

I actually had diastasis recti with my first singleton but not with the subsequent twins, so it's not a given.

@Donimo I am so ready to not be pregnant anymore!! I am a bit worried about how I’ll be able to look after 2 babies in the first few weeks of recovery but my hospital have said I can stay in for a few days for extra help and my husband gets great paternity so will be around too which will be a massive help. Twin 1 is breech so I don’t have a choice delivery wise but I was leaning towards a section anyway.

I was sick until 23 weeks and it has come back with a vengeance this week so I’m back on a toast and sparkling water diet, yay! But, I have put on 2 stone so I’m hoping it’s all water & baby!

Travel system wise, we went for the Emmaljunga Nxt Twin outdoor pram. I wanted a side by side that was suitable for uneven ground as we live by forestry and go on lots of long dog walks. I struggled to see any prams in person so I went to the Baby Show and I actually saved over £500 buying it there! I have also got the maxi cosi pebble car seats with the 360 base.

I will be using Moses baskets downstairs and they will be sharing a cot next to my bed at night so hopefully this works!
