@Prema112 aww, what sort of things is he saying? (I ask as it might give an insight into how he may be thinking/feeling).

I’m thinking he might be worried that you won’t love him as much. It’s a natural feeling for a small child. Maybe get him a present from the baby, as well as involving him in bath talk. My son likes to sing to bump. Let him know you’ll always make time for him even when baby is here and try to stick to that, even if it’s 15 mins just you and him at bedtime for a story and cuddle. I’m sure when the baby is here and he can see how he’s still just as important to you he will feel more secure 🙂

CurryandSnuggle · 17/05/2022 13:33

*involving him in baby talk (that meant to say!)

MrsNT · 17/05/2022 14:46

Is anyone doing any specific exercises apart from using the birthing ball?

MrsTwentyNine · 17/05/2022 14:55

Anyone else got massively swollen feet but no pre eclampsia? Blush

Clomid1 · 17/05/2022 15:32

@MrsTwentyNine yep. Swollen feet and swollen hands. I can’t take my wedding ring off 😳. I also realised how much chubbier my cheeks were on a work phone call, each week I just seem to be swelling up more?

GrowBabyGrow · 17/05/2022 15:52

@MrsTwentyNine Yes my feet have been getting really swelly by the end of the day in these heat! My midwife said it was normal for them to get like that esp if you're sat at a desk all day. I need to get better at elevating my feet more...

I've been getting worried that bump doesn't have enough fluid in there. When she sticks her bum out it is such a hard lump I feel like there's no cushioning at all! And my bump feels so tight its like she's going to explode out like that scene in Alien.

GrowBabyGrow · 17/05/2022 15:53

@MrsNT I've just been doing pregnancy yoga exercises as well as the ball. Lots of cat/cow and time on all fours

Yep, well I hope I haven't got pre-eclampsia. I have a check up with the midwife tomorrow so I'll talk more to her about it then, but my feet have been swelling up quite badly for the past week or so, especially after being on my feet for a while or wearing socks/pop socks. My hands don't seem too bad at the moment, but they do go up and down. I'm 36 weeks so hoping it's fairly normal and doesn't necessarily mean pre eclampsia, but I am worrying a bit Sad

DaimDillyDoo · 17/05/2022 16:29

Also got swollen feet and fingers here but no pre eclampsia!

@Vimto1991 ooh any updates? Is little one on their way?

I've been having light period cramps but nothing too interesting, I guess it's normal at this stage I'm 38+4. The tiredness is extreme though. I slept from 10pm-9am all the way through last night!

Vimto1991 · 17/05/2022 16:31

@DaimDillyDoo the consultant said it’s normal at this stage! I guess we will be able to tell these from contractions. 🙈 I was getting all excited 😂 we are pretty much ready for baby now, and being encouraged to get the baby out before my sweep at 39 weeks. 🙈

Yecats22 · 17/05/2022 16:38

Hi I posted a few weeks ago in a panic as they wanted to induce me at 37 weeks due to reduced movement and growth tailing off. Well I went ahead with the induction and my baby boy Louie arrived on 16th May.

PlodandPod · 17/05/2022 16:40

Also have swollen feet and legs, and this morning my hands joined in too. Decided to time how long it took for the pitting to pop back out yesterday after pressing on the skin, 2 and a half minutes and it still hadn't gone back to normal in that time. Blood Pressure is fine though so just living my best swollen life 😂

@Yecats22 congrats!! Glad you and baby are doing well, hope you settle back at home nicely. 💐

Flowerbug1994 · 17/05/2022 17:37

Oh my goodness I am with everyone on swelling i cannot get any shoes on accept one pair of sandals that are like cushioned !! I have asked my own midwife and also MAU midwives as I panicked as had trace of protein in urine they said as long as blood pressure is fine which it is we are good. They said lots of elevation and drink a load of water !

Rolledthedice · 17/05/2022 17:38

Aww congratulations @Yecats22! I hope you and baby are doing well? xx

Octoblockisadick · 17/05/2022 17:55

Midwife appointment this morning said baby 2/5 engaged, next appt booked for 7th June but she doesn't seem to think I'll make it to then. She told me off for not packing my bag yet and told me to do it haha. Then had a consultant appt this afternoon, scan says baby 8lb 5 today (36+3) so recommended induction or section at 39w. I've agreed to a section at 40w and a sweep at 38w (31st May) but kind of hoping I go into labour before the section. Baby is expected to be around 10lb 8 by due date and with it being a vbac and I've never had a vaginal delivery before chances of success do reduce.
I have been having on and off braxton hicks that are verging on painful so hopefully I'm actually in early labour haha!

Now I'm going to catch up on what I've missed since yesterday haha.

MrsTwentyNine · 17/05/2022 18:06

@Clomid1 @GrowBabyGrow @PlodandPod and everyone else that replied - glad I'm not the only one with this swelling!! I hope it goes away soon after because I'll have to get rid of all my shoes otherwise 😭😭

Octoblockisadick · 17/05/2022 18:09

@unknownscot that sounds lovely, glad you had a good baby shower. Love the books idea, and the baby pictures of everyone.

@CurryandSnuggle the first few times I tried it was just watery, but it got thicker as I did it more. Quite yellowish and thick by the end.
@Vimto1991 try in / just after the bath, the warm water and being relaxed is supposed to help.

@MrsNT I have quite a lot of pressure low down, it feels like I've got a bowling ball in my pants haha.

@fpeg glad you are doing well, and good info about the breastfeeding, it's useful to know!

@Yecats22 congratulations!! Hope it all went well, and the two of you see doing good.

Vimto1991 · 17/05/2022 18:17

@Octoblockisadick ill try after a shower! I wish I had a bath right now 😭 if I could fit in the baby bath I would!!

Yecats22 · 17/05/2022 18:34

We are both doing really well, got home yesterday around 8/9 hours after giving birth. The overall induction experience was just a lot of waiting around but the labour etc was all over in a few hours. Xx

JAR1981 · 17/05/2022 19:04

Congratulations @Yecats22 ❤️

@fpeg sounds like you’re making great progress with your little one. Thanks so much for sharing your breastfeeding experience, really helpful.

@CurryandSnuggle @Octoblockisadick im trying to colostrum harvest. Got my first (teeny tiny) bit today, made me so relieved as it was my third try. Hoping I get more now on each attempt.

To all the ladies with swelling, me too. I really don’t think the heat is helping. But blood pressure was still v low when checked on Sunday evening.

Another tmi warning. Is anyone else really struggling with their bladder? Every time I go to the bathroom I’m struggling to pee. But obviously there’s lots in there as I then keep uncontrollably leaking/peeing myself. It’s like the baby is stopping me wee when sat on the toilet. I’m having to wear a pad and had to cancel meeting my friend today as was too worried I might pee. It’s making me so miserable and grumpy I feel disgusting. I thought this was only a problem after birth?! Luckily husband is being a gem about it and went out last night to buy me tena lady. The shame :(. I messaged the midwife this morning but she’s not called me back so will try phoning her in the morning.

Also spent the day stressing about movement. But on Sunday when we went to triage it was a 3.5 hour wait to get seen in a boiling waiting room with 2 labouring women, one of whom kept puking in a cardboard bowl poor love. All the rooms were full of people in labour (that you could hear screaming from the waiting room) which I don’t think did anything to boost my oxytocin or relax me. So having my bloody show on Saturday has seen no progress since! Will keep monitoring the movement and make a call tonight. If I stop and watch belly a while I can definitely see more than I can feel which is somewhat reassuring. But don’t think I can just sit and watch it all day!

Sorry for the big whinge, it all feels a bit much today. I am so ready for this baby to arrive safely now.
