@Octoblockisadick I've packed an 'in case of transfer' bag. I realised before I knew baby was big that I had no newborn or anything smaller than 0-1, thankfully I didn't rush out to buy anything! I've packed 1 0-1 and 1 0-3 outfit. Clothes too big are better than clothes too small, until you can get some sorted at least

EarlGreywithLemon · 13/05/2022 21:59

@InvisibleDragon I didn’t wash any of our daughter’s new clothes when she was a newborn. No issues, although I do get allergic dermatitis from some toiletries. so there is family history. To be fair, she never wore anything for more than a few hours before it had to be changed and washed anyway 🙈. I also never used non bio ti wash her stuff. Oooops!

I was and am much more careful about what toiletries we use for her though. We just washed her with plain water for ages, and even now that she’s two I only use Aveeno non scented stuff on her. All the baby lotions and potions we were given when she was born are still in a drawer after 2 years!

Annabell1 · 13/05/2022 22:03

@imhereforthecake How scary. I hope you've managed to recover and feel better now. X
@fpeg What a lovely story. I had to read it a few times and it almost made me cry. She is absolutely adorable. Congratulations! Sending you much love. ❤️

@MsBubbles85 I know where you are coming from and it's great to know what you will be coming back to after mat leave, but my OH would have said exactly the same. Women often don't ask for more money even if they do more work and take on more responsibility. Most guys just wouldn't do it. Just make sure they don't take advantage of you and definitely ask for a pay rise in Jan.

I had another growth scan this week as my fundal height was very low again, but the scan showed that she is on the 17th percentile. So luckily all good and within range. I hope she will continue to grow at a good rate.

Happy weekend ladies! Xx

JAR1981 · 13/05/2022 22:46

I’ve finally finished work, WOOP WOOP!! Feels like such a relief and also can’t believe I’ve reached this point. Still doesn’t feel real. Did anyone else finish today?

I had my birth plan appointment with the midwife today which went really well. I hope she’s on duty at the hospital when the baby comes. I wrote up my plan for all three eventualities (natural, induction and c-section). A lot will come down to the consultant appointment next week though which I’m looking forward to a lot less given they will be recommending an induction or ELCS is booked for 40 weeks. Anyone else still grappling with this?

I’m another one that’s got a spare room full of hospital bag stuff laid out but somehow not managed to pack it yet. I’ll be 37 weeks tomorrow, definitely a job for this weekend! On clothing sizes I will probably do a couple of newborn and a couple of 0-1. Not sure about the 0-3 they look huge! Although baby is measuring big - could they really be that big?

@fpeg loving your updates.

@unknownscot oh no, hope it’s clear. Is it due to size or glucose in pee? How many weeks are you? Once I got my head around it the diet has been fine.

RoseValleyRambles · 14/05/2022 06:45

My body denied me a lie in today again! Getting ready for early baby wake ups...

Wondering what to do about my hospital bag, as saw the very short list my hospital provides yesterday, asking with their instructions that there's not much room on the ward so not to bring too much. Sigh.

annie1994 · 14/05/2022 08:04

I’ve just finished packing my suitcase and have attached my list just incase it helps anyone. These are just the things that I found I needed from my first labour.

I know I have to stay in for at least 48 hours but if needed my partner can always bring in more clothes for me or baby!

@JAR1981 yeah I've got the same thing - recommending induction at 40 weeks (with a sweep the week before) and not feeling convinced. I don't understand the logic for the recommendation but also don't know if I'm just being silly by pushing back on it! Maybe by 40 weeks I'll be ready for baby to be out!

unknownscot · 14/05/2022 08:26

@JAR1981
Yeah due to my urine sample. I'm 34+3 today so at least I haven't got too long left anyway x

laurenGame · 14/05/2022 10:21

@MsBubbles85 wow congratulations on getting a promotion when you're going on mat leave! I am also a senior consultant and as I was reading your post of promotion to a team lead, I was thinking 'she must be really good at her job, and so smart!' It is disappointing your DP didn't find that impressive because I am impressed and I don't even know you. Like you said they could have given it to another sr consultant but they didn't.
Well I personally aspire to achieve the career level you have, so I am impressed if that helps lol. Seriously, well done 👍🏻

laurenGame · 14/05/2022 10:25

Is anyone still having sex? we dtd once a fortnight or so, not sure if it's bad for the baby. But I miss closeness and intimacy with DP.

Discharge ... oh gosh. So much of it. How do you know if it's waters broken/mucus plug etc. The other day I was wearing just a long t shirt at home and had some seriously drip on the floor scary.

Can anyone recommend a good sling? We don't like bulky looking ones but the wrap around ones look so complicated.

Congratulations @fpeg wow makes me feel nostalgic and want to go read thread 1 when we were just all meeting online and starting our journey Halo

beansprout55 · 14/05/2022 12:13

Regarding snacks to take in, I'm thinking of packing a cool bag with ice packs in my suitcase to keep my selection of drinks cold. Jersey hospital is soooo dated, by the end of June it will probably be a sauna in the maternity ward.

@laurenGame We've maintained sex 2/3 times a week throughout pregnancy so far, but it is starting to get a bit difficult now I'm 33 weeks and it does seem to trigger BH....
Definitely won't hurt the baby! If you miss the closeness with your DP absolutely do it xx
When did your spotting stop btw? Mine did at 24 weeks but now I get it a couple times a week again as of last week! Not worried about it now though xx

beansprout55 · 14/05/2022 12:18

Oh and I'm getting a Freerider sling, I'm just super anxious about suffocation so hopefully I'll get over that and actually use it! They're so handy. x

Also looking to by a nursing pillow but they don't sell Bamibi's on Amazon anymore and I'm not willing to spend loads on one. Anyone recommend a decent one that doesn't cost the earth?

caz198917 · 14/05/2022 12:28

Hi all!! Just dropping back in to see how we're all getting on!! Congratulations to those whose babies have arrived already! 37 plus 2 today so officially full term! Good luck to you all with the upcoming labours!! Xx

Vimto1991 · 14/05/2022 12:37

We had sex technically twice during this whole pregnancy. 😂 first time I kind of coward out of so it doesn’t count, now I’m this far gone DH doesn’t feel right about dtd, which I’m okay with as I’m not feeling majorly sexy. More like a turtle stuck on their back or a washed up whale. 😂
I did mention it can help bring on labour so we may try that as of next Wednesday when I’m 37 weeks. 🙈
this is our first year of marriage (although 9 years together!) so I find it hilarious the lack of intimacy we’ve had as we’ve been so lucky to conceive so quick. A good trade off. 😃

laurenGame · 14/05/2022 14:29

@beansprout55 wow 2-3 times a week, I'm so impressed!!

I had a gush of water, thought my waters broke or something. Went to maternity unit they said it's normal but could be caused by sex (and we had intercourse just before). So made us wary but I'm missing the sex with my DP!

On the good side is I saw the birthing units at the hospital where I'll be giving birth 😍 they're really nice with queen beds and nice facilities, made me feel ready for the birth.
I'm expected to stay for 5 days 😁

beansprout55 · 14/05/2022 14:49

@laurenGame oh gosh that's so scary! I would be nervous too after that, you could always be gentle and see if that makes a difference 😂

I think a big reason we still do it and that frequently is because we struggled to conceive for sooo long and went through fertility treatments, so the pressure being off and sex no longer being timed and for a purpose is something we're still getting used to. I've been assured so many times that it won't harm the baby at all so if you're wanting to and you haven't been told to abstain, go for it!x

So jealous of your hospital! Sounds lush. Is it Australia you live? Or am I thinking of someone else 🙈 xx

Octoblockisadick · 14/05/2022 15:01

@laurenGame I think we've had sex maybe 3 times in the last 8 months if that 🙈. My sex drive has been non existent tbh. Plus I feel too uncomfortable most of the time.
@Vimto1991 I'm also thinking we might need to start having sex soon though haha. Ready to try and evict this baby 🤣.

CurryandSnuggle · 14/05/2022 17:23

@laurenGame my experience is you can’t miss the mucous plug/bloody show if you get it. It’s literally like a big glob of goo (looks a little like raw chicken.. sorry, I know it’s grim) and it usually has stringy blood in it.

Clomid1 · 14/05/2022 17:23

@Octoblockisadick The idea of sex just makes me think of a penis knocking on my baby’s head 🙈 I know thats not the case but thats the image I get which really really puts me off 😂

Octoblockisadick · 14/05/2022 18:16

Hahaha @Clomid1 . I just don't feel like I could physically get in any position tat would make it possible currently, I feel like a beached whale.
They do say what gets baby in gets baby out though so I'm starting to debate it 🤣

Octoblockisadick · 14/05/2022 18:17

Oh and I've been in the garden today, so my legs actually look like a drumstick lolly because I've managed to burn my calves while keeping my thighs translucent 😩

pregnancydiaries · 14/05/2022 19:40

Hello 👋🏼 I've had a "pain" in the very bottom part of my belly as low down as bump goes that feels a bit like period cramps but is constant. Came on kind of suddenly and hasn't gone in the past 3 hours. It's enough that I'm uncomfortable but not got me screaming in pain. Not coming and going at all. Any ideas? Is this just normal 3rd trimester pains. 34+5 xx

I had this all day Thursday, on and off Friday, and on and off today. I called the day unit yesterday after paracetamol didn't make it to west, and they told me it was BH but everyone is obviously different so may be worth calling your day unit to see what they say. If it worries you it's always worth calling for advice xx

@pregnancydiaries
I've had similar the last couple days but on and off. I'm hoping it's just a sign the body is getting ready.

I have my baby shower tomorrow. Feel fucking huge and unattractive. I've cried twice tonight. Done my tan so at least I'll feel a little better tomorrow.

It's go be 21 degrees tomorrow though so duck knows how I'll be!!

I'm a hormonal mess

CurryandSnuggle · 14/05/2022 21:19

I’m struggling bad with swollen feet and hands today. I feel so unattractive! And I’m a bit worried it’s not normal swelling/that it could be pre-eclampsia. I don’t have my midwife appointment until Thursday.
