Congratulations @fpeg !!!!

annie1994 · 13/05/2022 10:59

@slowrunningteacher I feel your guilt about your toddler watching too much CBeebies!! I keep napping with my 20mo too otherwise I just can’t get through the day! This being pregnant with a toddler is haaaaard work!

@fpeg congratulations!! Look at those cheeks 🥰 hope you and baby are doing well xx

RoseValleyRambles · 13/05/2022 11:01

@fpeg what a cutie! Congratulations! Enjoy your little bundle and well done!

Rolledthedice · 13/05/2022 11:01

Aww what wonderful news to wake up to @fpeg! 😀 I’m so happy your little one stayed put until term, those babies know exactly when they are ready to meet us! She’s gorgeous and you did amazingly well, huge congrats and hope you manage to get some rest. xx

Turniptracker · 13/05/2022 11:28

Wow @fpeg congratulations she is lovely! Your birth story sounds really positive too, which is great to hear, fingers crossed we all have similar experiences 😁

Roxystar23 · 13/05/2022 11:46

Please tell me I’m not the only one who hasn’t packed a hospital bag yet. I’m 36 +1 and even though we are getting to see babies from our June group arriving - I just can’t bring myself to do it. My partner is starting to get mad at me now - I think I’m in denial about having to go into hospital & in my head have just skipped to the cuddles with little one stage. I’ve got everything on the bed in the spare room but for whatever reason can’t bring myself to pack it yet. If I was packing to go on holiday it would have been done weeks ago! Haha!

fpeg · 13/05/2022 12:00

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes! We've had our first dirty (and very messy 😂) nappy, think I managed to get it everywhere! And she's feeding like a trooper. @beansprout55 yes she's my first and it's a completely amazing feeling. I feel very blessed to have the labour I did. Yesterday was tiring and I'm not gonna lie, the end was painful, but it doesn't last long and they are so worth it when they get passed into your arms! They're coming round to do a hearing test on her soon and if she passes all her checks later then we can go home today.

I honestly found the birth the most amazing, humbling, exhilarating experience. That transition phase is hard but incredibly fleeting. Breathing techniques from hypnobirthing were excellent (I didn't get to use the rest of my hypnobirthing stuff but it massively helped me through the whole process). I hope you all get to have your own amazing birthing experiences no matter what route you go down. There are no "right" ways to do it, other than what is right for you ❤️❤️❤️

unknownscot · 13/05/2022 12:28

I am so desperate to get this baby out 😂😂😂

GrowBabyGrow · 13/05/2022 12:37

@fpeg oh my gosh congratulations!! She is absolutely gorgeous

MrsTwentyNine · 13/05/2022 12:45

Huge congratulations @fpeg !! ❤️

Vimto1991 · 13/05/2022 13:51

I’ve started washing and organising baby clothes today since the countdown is really on 3+5 for me now until due date.
combatting a lot of anxiety taking tags off items, which is silly considering I don’t know where the receipts are anyway.
next few weeks needs to speed by! Yodel guy walked off as I was waddling to the door today, had to scream down the path at him to come back. 🙈

NorthDevonBeachLover · 13/05/2022 13:53

Aww, huge congratulations@fpeg , amazing news. Hope you get to go home soon. Your post did make my eyes leak a bit, damn hormones! Xx

Whatcanmyusernamebe · 13/05/2022 13:55

Congratulations @fpeg and thank you for the reminder that all the hardships of pregnancy are worth it when baby is in your arms. Definitely needed to hear that right now. Enjoy the magical moments now your beautiful girl is here.

Octoblockisadick · 13/05/2022 14:21

@Roxystar23 I've not packed yet, 36w tomorrow. Not even bought everything I need for the bag 🤣. And need to wash the baby clothes too. At work they are all laughing at my lack of organisation and unpreparedness haha.

@fpeg so glad she is doing well and hopefully going home!

Turniptracker · 13/05/2022 16:06

@Roxystar23 I could've written your post about packing. Half the bits are on the spare bed, can't find the energy to sort the toiletries, still no clue what clothes to take, what type of bag to pack, what snacks to take (most important!). It's a bit overwhelming! Especially when I keep hearing I'm only going to be in hospital for about 6 hours before being kicked out anyway.

InvisibleDragon · 13/05/2022 16:23

@Roxystar23 I haven't packed a bag either. Have all the unsexy bits like maternity pads dumped in the spare room. Was waiting until my comfy new pyjamas arrived, and got them delivered to my old address by mistake.Confused

Also haven't washed any of the baby clothes yet. Fun task for this weekend I guess.

I think I'm possibly going to miss being pregnant when the baby is here - never thought I'd say that, but having a baby inside me feels less scary than having a newborn now!

Lostintranslatio · 13/05/2022 16:45

Oh! Washing baby stuff was so fun and cute for me: the laundry racks full of little and tiny clothes 😍

RoseValleyRambles · 13/05/2022 16:50

@lostintranslatio Agreed! All the little things! So cute!

Brightsmoke · 13/05/2022 17:17

I had 2 pethidine injections and they were amazing. Let me sleep for a good hour each time

Massive congratulations @fpeg! She's just gorgeous 😍

@unknownscot I'm the same 😂. 37 weeks today for me, so now I'm like come on baby 🙈

My consultant app went really really well. He basically gave me the options, told me the risks but said it's totally my choice. I don't know where to start with writing a birth plan but I'm gonna do something just in case little one comes before my 38 week app, that's if I get a birth plan meeting at that one 🙄

InvisibleDragon · 13/05/2022 17:32

@Lostintranslatio @RoseValleyRambles maybe I'm being a bit grumpy about the washing! When I buy new clothes for myself, I really enjoy wearing them the first time before I wash them when they have a new clothes smell and texture. I'm a bit sad that the baby clothes have to be washed before he even wears them.

It's been instilled in me that this is necessary in case they have been treated with something in the warehouse etc, but it still feels like an unnecessary faff!

Roxystar23 · 13/05/2022 17:39

@Octoblockisadick @Turniptracker @InvisibleDragon Thanks all! This fills me with great relief that I’m not alone. I did think about packing the baby bag today but then I couldn’t work out the quantities needed so abandoned that quite quickly and instead just admired all the little tiny outfits.

It’s definitely turning into a running joke with my friends now “Have you packed your bag yet?”. Bizarrely it’s the toiletries I’m struggling with most too. Plus, I don’t want to pack my post birth outfit yet because I’m wearing my comfiest maternity clothes and think it’s a waste to pack them if I don’t go into labour for a few weeks. For snacks - I have a packet of Percy Pigs & a box of Tracker Peanut Bars. I don’t know what else to pack. I definitely don’t want to turn up with the kitchen sink as I’m hoping to be booted out of hospital asap post birth! Ha!

@InvisibleDragon - Oh no!! I hope you manage to get your PJs re-ordered to your address & get a refund for the original order! Nightmare!

Letsbekindplease · 13/05/2022 17:53

@Roxystar23 my first labour I didn’t eat a thing. We brought lots of isotonic drinks and oaty energy bars but I couldn’t face eating them

this time I’ve got Percy pigs (think it was you who inspired me to get them if you mentioned this before lol) Cadbury chocolate breakfast oat bars and a couple cans of cola.

toiletries I have new toothbrush and small travel toothpaste, face cloth, shower gel , dry shampoo, Anusol, my expert midwife spray, deodorant and some hair bobbles. I’m not washing my hair. I had a cannula in the last time and it was so difficult so I’m just spraying the shit out of it with dry shampoo and I’ll pop it up in a pony tail.

I still don’t have a night dress haha. My bag is almost packed but I’m sure there’s stuff I’ve not thought of. I’m 36 weeks and I felt like you. I kept putting it off

unknownscot · 13/05/2022 18:01

Well I'm heading for a diabetic test next week 😕

MsBubbles85 · 13/05/2022 18:22

Most probably IABU but just need to vent...
Today my boss told me that the role change that I have been pushing for had been confirmed and now I would be team lead and the next new joiners will report to me, while I'm on ML a senior consultant (my previous role) will cover for me. There is no salary raise but it puts me in a good position for my career once I'm back to work in December and in the appraisal next January I can ask for a raise.
I went really excited to tell my husband and his reply was: "It's just a side move, don't know why you are so excited"
It really pissed me off...they could have given this to the other senior consultant but they have given it to me...and it's good for my career! I know it would be better if it came with a raise but I had one in February with a bonus as well.
This is a long post but needed to vent to someone!!! Sorry!!!

Octoblockisadick · 13/05/2022 19:14

@Brightsmoke glad your appt went well. It's good that they didn't try to push you into anything, I'm hoping mine is similar. Are you going to pack newborn or larger sizes in your bag? (Assuming you are packing a bag if aiming for home birth, do you still pack one?)

@Roxystar23 oh I've made a list of what to pack but not convinced I'm going to pack half of it tbh. I feel like so much is unnecessary but then not sure at the same time. Snack wise, I'm thinking crisps probably. I haven't got much of a sweet tooth, and i can't really take cheese and crackers haha! Most of my go to snacks need to be kept in a fridge so not sure they would be a good idea.
