39 weeks! Not long to go at all 😬.
I'm looking forward to no longer being pregnant, but not looking forward to 2 under 2, just! I feel as though I'm doing a rubbish job with DD atm. She definitely gets too much CBeebies and I dropped off this afternoon 🙄. It will be worth it in the end x

PlodandPod · 12/05/2022 19:23

Is anyone having any shooting/sharp pains? They seem to be lower in my stomach, around my belly button or just under my ribs. I thought it was Braxton Hicks but the midwife said yesterday that they shouldn't really be painful. Have had them on/off all day today and been told to call the day unit if they don't improve this evening but I don't want to be wasting their time if it's just normal! I'm 36 weeks tomorrow. Have had them previously on the odd occasion but never all day. Can still feel baby moving as normal. Don't really know what to do :(

@WhatHappensIfIGoLoco I've got a lot of pressure in my groin, and every so often get shooting pains.
@PlodandPod Braxton hicks also ramping up a lot, sometimes quite intense and I need to take a second to breathe through them. I'm 36 weeks Saturday so similar to you.

@beansprout55 I'm impressed you are managing with your mask haha, I'm having to take mine off an awful lot to be able to breathe. Not ideal when on an admissions ward with people coming in with god knows what haha.

@slowrunningteacher yay for getting a date! Have you been told if you have a morning or afternoon slot?

For the people asking about diamorphine, there is a major supply issue with it at the moment so most hospitals are using pethidine instead, just a heads up!
I was covering neonatal unit today, and there was a baby there (newborn) who was due on my due date. It was mental looking at this baby thinking that's literally what's inside me to the day haha!

pregnancydiaries · 12/05/2022 21:27

@PlodandPod I've been having similar to what you've described, to the point they stopped me in my tracks I was screaming in pain for a minute or so, and my midwife said the complete opposite to yours that BH can be painful (even though I was sure we were told they shouldn't be). I'd go and get checked if you feel somethings off, you're not a burden. Xx

slowrunningteacher · 12/05/2022 22:56

@Octoblockisadick At my hospital all planned C-section folk must turn up at 7:30am (no earlier and no later than 7:45 😬). I believe that the decision on the order is made that day!

fpeg · 13/05/2022 03:03

Hey everyone, I started with contractions at five to midnight on Tuesday, had a bit of fluid come from my vagina so phoned hospital and they said to go in. Wasn't amniotic fluid and baby all ok so they sent me away. Contractions continued all day yesterday, just one every 5-10 mins. Then at 7:30 suddenly started to come close together, so went back in. Was checked out and discharged again at 10:30pm, 3cm dilated but to monitor at home. Halfway home waters broke in spectacular style, phoned them up told to go back. Contractions suddenly very intense, cooking every couple of minutes. By the time I got back there was 7-8cm dilated, moved to labour ward, got my birthing pool which was awesome, except I suddenly realised I wasn't going to get to use it! Sudden urge to push (totally Neanderthal, couldn't have stopped it if I tried), two pushes later and my little girl is here! 37+2 (just! Born at 00:11). 6lb 12oz, so a good weight for her age. Minor tear, no stitches (man the first wee hurts though!), skin to skin and straight on the breast (ouch-y on those nipples, they'll need to toughen up 😂). Guys it's just magical! I'm so in love and can't wait for you to all experience it for yourselves! I'm so tired right now but she's back on me for skin to skin after getting a bit cold, so no sleep just yet! Exhausting but captivating 🥰 our June baby became a May baby.

Whatever you're feeling it's worth it I promise. Even though it was super speedy at the end, it has been tiring, the toast and tea you get afterwards is the best you've ever eaten or drank! I've really struggled at times in this pregnancy, but having her in my arms it's so worth it and I'd do it all again in a heartbeat 💗 ok long emotional post over! I wish you all the most amazing births ❤️❤️❤️
