@sunflower198 also having Gaviscon and it’s also not doing much for me.

I’ve also got rib pain now; I remember it so well from the last pregnancy. I thought my ribs had been pushed out enough last time, and I’d get away without this time. But no! 😬

Flowerbug1994 · 11/05/2022 19:27

@Vimto1991 wasnt to bad it was a bit of a wait. I had a little bit of pink couple of days ago so had cervix check and amniotic fluid swab which wasn’t the best. As I’ve had a few eps of reduced movement even if baby turns from breech to head down by Friday they are booking me induction at 39 weeks which am abit on the fence about. Going to look into inductions abit more as I’ve heard a few horror stories.

sunflower198 · 11/05/2022 19:33

@EarlGreywithLemon yes I also thought I'd got away with not having this time around as it started much earlier 1st time. But this time it seems like it's stronger as the gaviscon just isn't helping.
It amazes me how 2 pregnancies can be so different though - I put off having a 2nd for a long time as I was so worried about it being like my first, and it's ended up being a whole different set of issues this time around!

Octoblockisadick · 11/05/2022 19:46

Quick q, the colostrum kit I got from my midwife literally had 3 syringes and 2 pots in it, has anyone been given more than that? I did get extra syringes myself because I'm expecting to need them though.

@Slanketeer it's hard now but think of all that extra lovely time you'll get with baby at the end instead of having to go back to work sooner.

@JAR1981 if we could pick when baby arrived it would be perfect wouldn't it! I'm hoping for the bank holiday weekend as my mum is taking my daughter away for a few days so wouldn't need to worry about childcare. I've got my midwife appointment where we discuss birth plans on Tuesday morning, then a consultant appointment Tuesday afternoon to decide plans (if any) based on big baby.

Omg @imhereforthecake , are you OK? That sounds terrifying.

@Flowerbug1994 it's always better to get checked, glad everything is OK. If you are on the positive birth company Facebook group there are lots of positive induction stories that might be reassuring?

Vimto1991 · 11/05/2022 19:57

@Flowerbug1994 good to hear baby is okay, remember it is your body so if you don’t want an induction you don’t have to have one.

Flowerbug1994 · 11/05/2022 21:50

@Octoblockisadick @Vimto1991 will look at positive birth stories to help calm me as I feel like if they suggest induction then it’s in baby’s best interest. To be honest he’s been in the same position for 8 weeks at least that I know of and there hasn’t been a single attempt to turn nice then I’ve had around 4 scans since then and he’s been head in ribs at every scan. I have my final presentation scan Friday and then doctor said we will meet straight after and put plan in place which I think will calm me down.

Vimto1991 · 11/05/2022 21:52

@Flowerbug1994 I thought they’d schedule in a c section for breach anyway? Or do they try and do natural?

Brightsmoke · 11/05/2022 22:01

Haha @Octoblockisadick I've told my son his brother will appear after his birthday, which is a week today, so I’m hoping he doesn’t make an early appearance. He does want him to come on his birthday though 🥰

@imhereforthecake hope everything is ok 🤞🏻

Also massively in the fed up club. I said today that I’m done with work, but I still have 2 more weeks. Everyone at work thinks I’m mad to work up to less than a week before due date, and now I’m starting to agree 😂. I was on A/L with my son by this point. I’m constantly grumpy and achey and tired.

I’ve got my consultant app tomorrow, and I’m ready to fight them if I need to. A big baby with no other concerns isn’t enough reason to not try for the birth I want IMO. Though he is measuring at >99% for his belly and 97% for his head. So I’m worried it will go wrong and they’ll all be thinking ‘we told you so’. Midwife appointment tomorrow after the consultant, where I’ll finally be able to discuss my birth preferences. Then I’m gonna be all guns blazing to get this baby out as 37 weeks on Friday haha

WhatHappensIfIGoLoco · 12/05/2022 06:34

Has anyone else had really intense pressure feeling in their pelvis? It actually really, really hurts when it happens now I'm actually shitting myself for labour!

Vimto1991 · 12/05/2022 08:26

@WhatHappensIfIGoLoco just feels like I’ve been kicked in the groin or like I’m really full down near my pelvis. Your baby may have dropped! :o I don’t believe mine is engaged yet as my bump looks the same and midwife didn’t mention anything.

AlbatrossSociety · 12/05/2022 10:14

@unknownscot I have the perimom. My husband bought it for me, I probably wouldn't have bothered myself, but actually it is very handy. Not sure I'd be able to reach without it!

unknownscot · 12/05/2022 10:50

@AlbatrossSociety oh that's good to know someone has it. I'm tempted!

unknownscot · 12/05/2022 10:52

I've bought it. I'm easily tempted 😂😂😂

Brightsmoke · 12/05/2022 13:10

Urgh midwife has cancelled on me so now I still won't have a birth plan until I'm 38 weeks 🙄

Turniptracker · 12/05/2022 13:36

Became part of the small femur club today after another growth scan showing we are below 5th percentile. Baby isn't growing as much as he should. Doctor didn't seem worried though so I'm not going to spend too much time worrying about it for now. Just a shame eating more wasn't a solution to the issue 😂

Vimto1991 · 12/05/2022 14:04

@Brightsmoke as long as you make notes yourself you should be okay if anything happens before then. I had a stand in midwife glance at mine (they are on an app), she didn’t discuss anything with me just said all seems okay.

@Turniptracker yeah think we’ve started to see how inaccurate these scans can be, so glad you are remaining positive! Mine has little leggies, too, but I’m 5’4 so probably expected haha.

i almost went in yesterday for reduced movement, baby was quiet from around 7ish until about 8:30ish, played them some music on my belly and they’ve now not stopped moving, and feel like I now need to go in for increased movement. 🤦‍♀️

Letsbekindplease · 12/05/2022 14:08

Im starting to get very nervous about the labour. This is my second child. I wouldn’t say I had a bad experience the 1st time, but it did make me say that I wouldn’t be having another …

I don’t really have a birthing plan in place. I will be asking for an epidural if I need one. The first time I felt like people had this opinion on epidurals like it was a cop out and therefore it made me want to try not ask for one. I didn’t feel like I needed one anyway to be fair, but for the sake of not being out my nut on any morphine, I might be asking for one as soon as I am able lol.

it’s that lovely time of day though. NAP TIME 😴 I am so excited for a wee sleep.

beansprout55 · 12/05/2022 15:18

Fed up club, are you also struggling with this heat?? I no longer have a duvet and the windows are kept open at night now.
25 degrees next week. Dreading June weather.
Hoping DH will agree to let me sit on his paddle board and paddle me around the bays. Currently dripping with sweat in my tiny surgery worried that my patients can smell me, I can't as my mask is so darn tight, but my feet are soggy and my back is drenched! 😷

NorthDevonBeachLover · 12/05/2022 15:29

Had another stint in hospital with suspected pre-eclampsia, went in for routine scan and midwife appt, blood pressure stupidly high with swollen feet so they ran a load of tests and kept me in overnight (panicked call to husband as had nothing with me except my notes, phone and wallet!) been started on blood pressure meds now and more appointments to keep an eye on everything. 37 weeks tomorrow and it's my last day at work today.

Am also part of the uncomfortable, hot and had enough club! Everything is much harder and takes longer these days, had an interesting attempt to shave my legs the other day, lets just say i'm glad we have a non-slip bath mat! I am dreading this supposed heat next week! x

EarlGreywithLemon · 12/05/2022 15:55

@Letsbekindplease I loved my epidural last time. I could have hugged the lovely anaesthetist who put it in! The only side effect I had was a slightly shaky leg when it was on. I remember really fondly those few hours of sheer relief from the pain, chatting to the midwife, and eating Haribo. Also, things sped up hugely for me with the epidural. I went from 1cm to 10 and pushing in 3-4 hours, after I’d stalled at less than 1cm for 20 hours. Probably because I was so relaxed suddenly! I could feel pressure when it came to pushing too - but no pain.

Pethidine on the other hand I do not recommend!

slowrunningteacher · 12/05/2022 16:25

I have a date! I presented myself at the reception desk in the Maternity block at my hospital after my growth scan and asked. It had been booked in already, but I hadn't heard. Typically the letter was on the doormat waiting for me when I got home 🤣.

Looks like this one will be a May baby, just! C-section is booked for May 31st!

Letsbekindplease · 12/05/2022 17:08

@EarlGreywithLemon oh thank you for this. That sounds great. Is pet had one like diamorphine ? I had this and I was so away with it. Chatting absolute rubbish and not in control at all. I don’t want to be like that again.

That’s great you have a date @slowrunningteacher. Must make it feel much more real now?

I’m overthinking baby movements again. (Lack of).

EarlGreywithLemon · 12/05/2022 17:21

@Letsbekindplease I think diamorphine is supposed to be more effective than pethidine! I was also off my face on pethidine, but it was more like a real effort to string my words together in the right order. Also, I was in just as much pain - it did nothing for that. I have lots of memory blanks from the first few hours after the pethidine, but it didn’t knock me out or make time go faster, and the pain was just as bad, if that makes sense. I didn’t even want pethidine at the time, because I’d heard horror stories. But I got really desperate because the not very nice midwife in antenatal said I wouldn’t have an epidural for ages. Not true as it luckily turned out!

unknownscot · 12/05/2022 18:01

@slowrunningteacher that's great. How many weeks will you be?

pregnancydiaries · 12/05/2022 18:32

Congrats @slowrunningteacher, all becoming very real now I bet!xx
