Ugh! @PeeAche2 that’s obviously meant to be LOVELY to hear! Stupid phone.

Letsbekindplease · 05/05/2022 11:52

@Vimto1991 I have packed 3 first size sleepsuits and 3 short sleeve newborn vests
I was going to pack a bigger size but I don’t think I will. I say packed, it’s in the baby drawers waiting to be organised but that’s my plan

I took way too much last time for my son. He was pretty long legged and the 0-3 just drowned him so that’s why I’m not going to bother with a bigger size. I may regret it

@PeeAche2 fantastic news. So happy for you all.

imhereforthecake · 05/05/2022 12:13

Yaaaaayyyyy @PeeAche2

GrowBabyGrow · 05/05/2022 12:32

Oh wow @PeeAche2 that's amazing news!!

I still need to buy hats for baby. Anyone else find that you fixate on buying certain items at a time? When I was in second tri I was obsessed with finding cute baby dungas on Vinted. And then the past few weeks I've bought farrrr too many muslins with cute designs. Meanwhile I still don't have anything for me to wear in labour!

Babyno21990 · 05/05/2022 12:35

Hello everyone I was active at the beginning of thread 1 but have been following as much as possible ever since.

Hope everyone is feeling great and not too uncomfortable 🙈

I'm 36+1 today and think I lost my mucus plug this morning 🙈 anyone else any kind of signs that labour is near. I know it can be a few more weeks and certainly don't want to give birth this early!! Lol

destiEos · 05/05/2022 12:45

@Vimto1991 thanks, yes - really pleased measurements now seem to be normal, there was a lot of fear for no reason :/ I feel you on the monitoring - it’s so damn hard trying to see if there’s a pattern! I’m sure there isn’t one, and get nervous if it’s been more than a couple of hours without anything and then as soon as I get worries - he starts moving about…sighs… Oh dear, it sounds like you’ve had no fun - I’m terrified of falling over and would absolutely sacrifice knees if I went over, cannot imagine bumping the bump :(

@sunflower198 I don’t really want the metformin either, but insulin makes me very uncomfortable. I know I’m being stubborn, but I just don’t think that occasionally going slightly over is that concerning. Fundamentally I feel rubbish enough already and I really don’t want to take any more meds.

@JAR1981 Obaby have actually offered to collect the drawer - so that’s £60 we’re not losing out on, very good of them! We still have to tidy the rest of the room and apply nursery stickers, looking forward to how lovely it’ll look when finished though!!

@Prema112 Thanks, so relieved - I had to take a few days off to recover and this thread moves so fast, hard to keep track, hope you’re doing well though.

@Letsbekindplease Yes, anusol cream and pessaries are both ok for pregnant women - my trust gave me a list of things that are ok and those are both on there. They do help, but even with fybrogel I’m finding that piles are ‘under control’ rather than going away. I’m guessing once I stop taking the iron supplements things will go back to normal, so basically after giving birth…it is rubbish, isn’t it.

@mrkb I’ve not had any questions about ELCS, they seem very keen for me to do that, so I’ve not had to persuade anyone :D Hope your conversation went well - remember it is fundamentally your choice. Just caught up to the last couple of days and seen this went really well - very glad to hear it! Also, I’m a bit gutted we’ll be having a May baby, but also very pleased he’s coming earlier!!

@Octoblockisadick ockisadick I KNOW - can’t believe how inaccurate the 5th centile must have been to be measuring 50th 2 weeks later :/

@JAR1981 and @beansprout55 sprout55 - be careful!! My God, electric shocks when pregnant must be terrifying! I’m sure if you both came out of it ok, then bubs did too, but crikey!

@Clomid1 - seriously, I can’t overstate how worried we both were - also referred to foetal medicine and have now been moved back downstairs for scans are everything is fine. I think the measurements can be inaccurate, and also that some babies are just small (or big). Anyway, try not to let them scare the shit out of you, as there is literally nothing you can do to increase or decrease size anyway..

@JAR1981 I still need to do my bag, I have everything I think, but need to put it all in a second bag. The baby has all his stuff ready to go - I figured that needs to be ready, I’ll be fine with a hospital gown if needs be, then DH can bring all the other bits in an emergency. Still, probably should get it sorted now. And car seat…might wait til the baby is even born - there’s no need for it to be in earlier, is there?

@Prema112 I ordered this one: www.mamasandpapas.com/collections/nursing-feeding-chairs/products/bowdon-nursing-chair-footstool-silver-sebwoa102 it’s straight backed and narrow seat - the other one mamas and papas do is much ‘comfier’ but DH pointed out that this one is much more supportive, which is going to be more useful as @EarlGreywithLemon pointed out. I do have to wait 13 weeks though, so won’t be delivered til end of June..

@Rolledthedice Happy birthday! Hope you had a lovely day :D

@RoseValleyRambles I find it really patronising when midwife suggests ‘trying’ vaginal birth or breastfeeding, it’s just so patronising.. I mean I’m going to try with breastfeeding, but I am so not going to continue if there’s some of the devastation I’ve heard about nipple-wise!

@Flowerbug1994 as you can probably tell by the essay above, I am more than struggling with work - think I may have to pull maternity leave forward a week, I cannot concentrate and seriously finding it very hard to care too. I only have tomorrow and next week and I’m dragging myself through… Glad to hear scans show everything’s ok - seems like the best idea is to just head in if you’re worried, they are very supportive I’ve found.

@AlbatrossSociety - boy here, we both wanted a girl initially, but I’ve come round. A boy is just fine :)

@pregnancydiaries yup, nausea has also returned - my favourite part is the reflux that tastes of dank lake-water or something disgusting I’ve started the cyclizine again but I think I may have to increase from 1 a day already. I also have GD, so can’t eat some bread or a cracker which helped a lot last time. Pregnancy is poo.

@CurryandSnuggle I feel your pain, everything seems to be getting worse for me too, as well as all the above,
having baby’s foot in my rib-cage permanently now - had to take a couple of paracetamol this morning at 2am, as my right lower-ribs and shoulder were just aching (of course, if you Google that, it’s pre-eclampsia :’() - I’m sure it’s his wee foot, as I can feel it digging into me, but I am thinking of calling to confirm, just don’t want to have to go to hospital again…

@NorthDevonBeachLover sounds like you’ve had a bit of nightmare, glad that you’re ok, even if elevated risk. Hope you’re taking it very easy and looking forward to mat leave!

@imhereforthecake - I think 28-32 weeks is when you do develop GD, I was tested at 28 weeks.

@PeeAche2 Oh how exciting! Congrats :D You must be so pleased!

RoseValleyRambles · 05/05/2022 12:59

Hospital bag wise, found an NHS list online, and then added bits from various Mumsnet threads on the topic. Final list below.

@destieos I know. It just felt a bit ridiculous, and not focused on the fact that it will likely be impossible for me to push this baby out. Either she hasn't really reviewed my scans, or thinks things are more likely to change than any of the sonographers have...

@peeache2 congrats! Such epic news!

InvisibleDragon · 05/05/2022 13:19

Wow @PeeAche2 that's fantastic news! Enjoy your first day at home with your little family ❤️

Anyone else having bizarre dreams about the baby? Two recent ones:

  • he was shaped like a date, so I put him in a box with other dates but he melted
  • baby was something like an otter with very sharp canine teeth. Trying to get him to latch on but he kept biting the end of my nipple.

I think I'm getting a bit anxious about the whole caring for a newborn thing ...

AlbatrossSociety · 05/05/2022 14:58

Oh my goodness @PeeAche2 !! Congratulations!! Your little girl has done amazingly. I was thinking of you earlier and so happy to read your news.

@InvisibleDragon definitely with the weird dreams, I had a dream that the baby was born holding a machine gun and I got in loads of trouble with the hospital because it was a sign I was doing something wrong!

Great list thanks @RoseValleyRambles

pregnancydiaries · 05/05/2022 15:09

@PeeAche2 OMG!!!!! That is amazing. And so quick too. What a true little fighter you have. How is she?

@InvisibleDragon YES. I had a dream that my baby boy was born and in turn my husband shrunk and became the baby...............

Vimto1991 · 05/05/2022 15:11

@InvisibleDragon two so far, one was nice had baby on my legs, and was giving them a tickle with giggles, other baby was born with Down syndrome. :(

i love otters so that second one of yours sounds adorable (except the biting of your nips haha)

I’ve just been to boots after midwife int he hospital suggested anusol and they wouldn’t sell it to me. 😭 I got some wipes which are suitable with witch hazel in so I’ll give them a go. Also found out (kinda already presumed) I have thrush again 🤦‍♀️ at my monitoring session (which went well :))

thanks for your suggestions on how many clothes to pack. Think I severely under estimated 😂 to be fair I pushed DH into picking a second outfit. He thought one would be enough!

@PeeAche2 im so happy for you!! Welcome home baby 🥳🥳

@destiEos yeah I just let my knees take the brunt, more embarrassing was I couldn’t get back up to start with 😂 used to DH helping me! I have read even if you land on your belly it takes severe trauma to hurt the baby as they are well padded!!

also guys my happy mama order got refunded cause it’s been stuck in Hermes for three weeks. Are they worth it? Do I order from them again? Or is there anyone better to use that doesn’t use Hermes. 🤦‍♀️

Letsbekindplease · 05/05/2022 15:32

@Babyno21990 I have no idea if it means you could go or not. Give triage a call and keep us updated. When I lost my plug, I went into labour an hour later but that was at 39 weeks

the pile update is I spoke to a fantastic doctor who gave me lidocaine cream and also lactulose. He was so lovely. I was absolutely mortified explaining my bum and bowel movements and he really made me laugh and feel comfortable. told me that I will probably have this until the baby is here. As long as it’s not sore like it was at the weekend then I’ll be reasonably happy (not thrilled )

@InvisibleDragon those dreams made me laugh!

Prema112 · 05/05/2022 16:05

I've missed quite a lot, been a maniac couple of days at work handing over, but I've FINISHED now! So happy, just gotta get through my sons birthday party this weekend now.

@InvisibleDragon this made me laugh! I have loads of dreams I've just forgotten to feed the baby and I don't know where he is. Last night I swear I dreamed about baby grows the whole night! I bought very cute ones from Next which came yesterday, they are 'up to 5lb' My son was 6.6lbs but they fitted him perfectly so I'm hoping this babe is the same size!

@PeeAche2 That's the best news! She's done so well!

@Flowerbug1994 Glad all is well, so stressful!!

@CurryandSnuggle That sucks! But as you say if you do get it you will be super protected for the birth. Still I hope you don't

@Babyno21990 Hey due date buddy! Haven't lost my plug but it can still be weeks until the birth after that so hope it is for you!!

MrsTwentyNine · 05/05/2022 16:16

@Octoblockisadick that's interesting! I didn't know sideways was also a position. I guess they can do what they want in there ha! I hope mine changes position to face down soon though as the head pushing against the pelvis is not making me feel less nervous about the birth!

annie1994 · 05/05/2022 16:35

Just had a midwife appointment at 32+1 and she thinks baby is transverse - so lying across my belly! She was really confused and couldn’t find his heart beat but luckily all ok. I’ve got a scan next week so I guess will see if little man is lying transverse! Anyone else had this?

JAR1981 · 05/05/2022 16:36

Wow ladies, it seems like we’re having a lot of third trimester drama between us! Who knew the last few weeks of pregnancy could be so fraught and eventful.

So finally yesterday 1 week after my husband I tested positive for COVID. Feeling pretty pants but it could definitely be worse and paracetamol is taking the edge off my symptoms so far. I’m currently at the hospital waiting in the car to be called in for my 36 week growth scan, so relieved they could still go ahead with it even though I’ve had to come in on my own. @CurryandSnuggle hope you do better than me at avoiding it!

@PeeAche2 what amazing news!! ❤️

Prema112 · 05/05/2022 17:03

@annie1994 Yep mine was sideways for ages and then went head down about 2 weeks ago, (I'm 36+1 now) his legs are still out to the side though!

fpeg · 05/05/2022 17:04

@PeeAche2 that's just wonderful news! I'm so happy for you getting your little family home ❤️❤️❤️

@Vimto1991 I've found boots to be the most obstructive pharmacy in terms of getting things whilst pregnant (probably because of their size, fines will be much bigger if they are found to be doing things wrong). I got my DH to go to the pharmacy for me and he got me Anusol, has made such a big difference already to the discomfort so would be worth pursuing I would say x

@JAR1981 that's rubbish that you've finally tested positive, hopefully it doesn't treat you too badly and great news that you can still have your scan!!!

Vimto1991 · 05/05/2022 17:15

@annie1994 mine was transverse up until about 33 weeks 😅 but did move the right way eventually!

@fpeg think I may need to the same as it’s pretty hard to hide bump these days. 🙈

EarlGreywithLemon · 05/05/2022 17:30

@annie1994 our daughter was transverse for a good while in the third trimester. She moved head down though, before 36 weeks. This baby was breech at the 33 week scan (not that it matters, as he's coming out through the sunroof).

Clomid1 · 05/05/2022 18:31

@PeeAche2 congratulations!!! Must be such a relief to have her home soon 🎉🎉🎉

@destiEos thank you. Very nervous about tomorrow but as you say nothing much I can actually do. I haven’t seen Foetal medicine yet that’s now been moved to Monday (it was Tuesday initially). Praying everything will be okay at tomorrows scan with the normal sonographer.
Baby seems to be happily moving so at least thats a plus. I really hope everything will be okay 😟. I don’t know how you dealt with it mentally. I am massively struggling.

Katiebaby13 · 05/05/2022 18:49

I'm still catching up from today's messages so far but yessss @PeeAche2 such wonderful news!!!

Octoblockisadick · 05/05/2022 19:06

@JAR1981 oh no! Glad you aren't feeling too bad with it so far. So for your appointment did you just need to wait outside until called then wear a mask? That isn't too bad if so.

@Clomid1 good luck for tomorrow 🤞

Octoblockisadick · 05/05/2022 19:41

Those who have had contractions what do they feel like?

My stomach is sore from the vomiting, but I keep getting crampy type pains. Like diagonal from crotch up towards my sides lasting a few seconds. My whole stomach is hard when they happen, then it softens as the pain eases.

destiEos · 05/05/2022 19:44

@RoseValleyRambles as long as they're letting you make that decision, it's all good! Also thanks for the list, going to do mine this weekend - if anyone had recommendations for nighties made of clouds please let me know! I have Chelsea Peers and White Company pyjamas which are suggest this in the world, but getting into PJ's after a c-section is going to be tricky!
