I know this is very early but I wanted to start a thread for those with a January 2023 due date.

I got my BFP 2 days ago and am about 4 weeks pregnant today. I already have a little boy born in November 2020 and I’m super excited for him to get a sibling but I know it’s early days and have had 2 early miscarriages in the past so slightly nervous too!

I'm not in Britain but I sent off my paperwork to the maternity hospital when I was 6 weeks and got a booking appointment and scan date in the post within a week. Both will be at about 11 and a half weeks in. I have a scan at the IVF clinic at 8 weeks too.

Cherrymarket · 20/05/2022 13:42

@TerrazzoChips i might be daft but I will book next week at 4-5 weeks as they generally book you for approx 8 weeks regardless of when you call I think?

I need the scan to come through earlier than it did last time and the only way I get a scan is via the midwife so am being more proactive with booking things earlier. Might be different in other areas though!

Hana89 · 20/05/2022 16:09

Is anyone elses nausea/symptoms fluctuating? I'm 6w4d (approx) and my nausea can't seem to make up it's mind. Today I had some mild nausea after breakfast and after a cup of tea at lunch time, but beyond that I've felt fine. I'm trying to tell myself this is just a good day and to feel grateful for that but everything worries me.

41andtryingforfirst · 20/05/2022 16:58

@sparklyhippo the cramps have been continuous for me. I've had them for 2 weeks. They're particularly bad at 4am and wake me up every morning. I think it's normal for some people x

hopingfor23 · 20/05/2022 17:01

@Hana89 I'm 6w2ish and I'm the same. Some days I'm so ropey and feel so sick then others I'm fine. Trying not to let it worry me as I've got other symptoms like the tiredness and sore boobs 🙏

Hana89 · 20/05/2022 18:00

@hopingfor23 thank you for your lovely reply 💚 it is so reassuring, and also made me realise how silly I'm being. I have sore boobs and tiredness too, and I need to remember it's still early days!! I just felt overwhelmed with anxiety today Xx

LC84 · 20/05/2022 22:44

@41andtryingforfirst I was exactly the same at 3am from 3w to 6w... cramps then calmed down but now am 8w it seems they are back 🙈🙄
And dont get me started on how bloated I am, I look about 5mths pregnant 😩😩

Cat2hop · 21/05/2022 00:48

@Purplefoxes - same, expect scan around 12 weeks.
I can't help feeling really pessimistic though! Every day I'm expecting to see bleeding or something. I felt really run down last week but this week actually feel fine...though my boobs have grown (they didn't get sore). The other night I had a dream that I'd MC and have kinda felt like maybe I have ever since. It's just waiting though!

Peonies94 · 21/05/2022 04:37

Have any of you contacted gp yet? I plan to contact mine next week when I’ll be 4 weeks, or should I wait until 5 or longer?

Also those booking early scans, how many weeks are you doing them for? I’m thinking to book one but I’m thinking to wait longer to see more so around 8-9 weeks, but in another way I’m not sure I can wait that long so thought about having one around 6-7? What do you think? Thank you!

Cb31 · 21/05/2022 06:34

@Peonies94 I contacted my GP pretty much straight away and still had to wait weeks to speak to the midwife. Personally I think it's good to contact them straight away. If the worst does happen I'd want it to be on my record.
I originally booked my scan for when I would have been 8+2 but I was so anxious so managed to bring it forward to when I was 6+6. It worked out quite well because they happened to be doing half price scans that day but it feels like an eternity till my 12 week scan! X

LemonZestDribbles · 21/05/2022 06:49

@sparklyhippo I've had lots of cramps too and in last pregnancy. All seem to be totally normal

@fancyfrogs s I'm glad I'm not the only one not wanting to tempt fate 😬 taking in a urine sample is a bit of a faff!

@Amber17 r17 eeeek that's so exciting!!

@TerrazzoChips zoChips what a brilliant line!

@Hana89 I had this worry on Wednesday as didn't feel sick all. It's back now though 🤢 so it does seem to fluctuate.

@Cat2hop what a horrible dream to have. Hope you're okay

@Peonies94 I did one at 8 weeks last time as I didn't want to go at 6 weeks and risk not seeing everything and having to go back and be even more worried. It's a gamble isn't it 🙈 at 8 weeks you could see everything. He looked like a wee peanut 🥺

Going to phone mine on Monday I think. I'm sure I phoned (rather made dh phone) about 2 days after I got a positive test last time 🤣

@LemonZestDribbles thank you! Yes I’ll go with 8 weeks I think, it’ll give more of an idea won’t it! I’ve only just found out and found out really early, seems like a lifetime just under 5 weeks for a scan! I will though! Thank you!

Peonies94 · 21/05/2022 07:00

@Cb31 thank you! I have a late start in work Monday so maybe I’ll phone them then! I’m only 3 + 4 and planned to book one for 8 weeks thinking I’d maybe see a bit more! Just seems so far away doesn’t it!

LemonZestDribbles · 21/05/2022 07:15

@Peonies94 it's a horrifically stressful time. With ds I cannot remember anything between telling my parents (at like 13dpo) and then the night before my private scan. I was so anxious and upset about it but everything was fine. I think I've blocked it out of my mind 🙈 I'm with you on the early - first faint at 8dpo (but I just knew from a few days before that) and only 5 weeks today so been an AGE. Scans feel 200 years away.

@Lifeafterloss22 oooh holiday sounds great!

SweetPeaPods · 21/05/2022 08:03

Our private scan is booked for the day before 7 weeks. Hoping it's not too early but booked it then for a number of reasons, its our wedding anniversary that day, we both have the same day off work and I go away later that week for a girly weekend and want to be sure I'm not drinking for a reason! It feels possible too early but at the same time it's going really slow!

I’ve booked an early scan for 6 weeks 4 days partly to hopefully put my mind at rest a little but also if it’s ok then I’ll be telling work after half term.

Peonies94 · 21/05/2022 09:38

@LemonZestDribbles that’s how I feel this may go! We’ve decided to not tell our parents yet, but will probably cave and tell them in a few weeks! Just in our own bubble at the moment. I do have to tell work soon though, as I have quite a physical job and need to avoid certain things! I have just booked my scan for the 23rd of next month! It can’t come quick enough!!

Lulux33 · 21/05/2022 10:22

Hi all, hoping I can join in! I’m 8 weeks today, went for an early scan (private) on Wednesday which puts me one day earlier at 7+6 but sticking with my original date until the 12 week scan. Nausea is in full force which is so tricky with a toddler and actually had to reach out to the GP as I felt like I couldn’t even do basic things like make her breakfast. Got some anti-sickness tablets but so reluctant to take them for some reason 🙈. Anyone got any tips for morning sickness (that lasts all day and night 😭) xx

Peonies94 · 21/05/2022 10:38

I’m having lots of period like cramps! I really hope it’s nothing! My period would be due in 2days! 🤞🤞

Peonies94 · 21/05/2022 10:41

@Lulux33 sorry to hear about sickness! No tips! How was the scan? I’ve booked mine for 8 weeks too as thought I’d see a bit more! Did you find it was the right time to have the scan? Was torn between 6,7,8 weeks but decided if I get to 8, I’ll have less of a gap between my 12 week scan then!

Amber17 · 21/05/2022 10:50

I told my manager yesterday (at 5w) as I need to reconsider some aspects of my job. Feel like it’s going to be difficult to keep it a secret from colleagues.

Is anyone not going for an early scan? I’m seeing the midwife at 8w and hoping their bloods will include a hcg level so I’ll have some indicator of viability.

PurpleSpottedLeopard · 21/05/2022 10:57

Hi @Lulux33 I’m really struggling with nausea too but have just bought some travel sickness wrist bands from Amazon that seem to be taking the edge off of it. The nausea definitely hasn’t vanished completely but feels more manageable. Fully aware they might just be a placebo but they’re working for now and drug free!

alvaryder · 21/05/2022 11:29

Hi hi, I'm tentatively joining you all. Due date will be 27th Jan
I'm 43 and got preggo naturally after a missed MC 6 months ago. I think my stats are pretty grim at this age so crossing my legs for a sticky bean!
