I know this is very early but I wanted to start a thread for those with a January 2023 due date.

I got my BFP 2 days ago and am about 4 weeks pregnant today. I already have a little boy born in November 2020 and I’m super excited for him to get a sibling but I know it’s early days and have had 2 early miscarriages in the past so slightly nervous too!

What symptoms does everyone have? I'm sure I remember in my last pregnancies getting to about 6 weeks before any sickness/hunger etc kicked in. Usually my boobs hurt first and they feel normal.

I'm only just 4 weeks and I feel a bit sick and very tired and hungry. Surely it's too early for symptoms. I'm worried that if it is pregnancy related then things will really ramp up by 6 weeks as I have a history of HG.

Yes I had backache yesterday, although I need a new mattress as a backache is a common complaint of mine 🤣

I feel so old a creaky now I don't know what's pregnancy and what's a result of ageing!!

@Fifi1994 pregnancies are counted from lpm (as most people know this).
But the development of the baby (and therefore due date) is determined by ovulation/conception. It is assumed you ovulate/conceive two weeks after lmp, which is obviously not true for you. You're not actually pregnant the first two weeks of counting from lmp and when you have a scan they add those two weeks on to however long they measure the baby as being there. In your case you weren't actually pregnant for 3ish weeks from lmp. So you would expect to see about a week difference between you calculation and the scan calculation.

Basically the scan is more acurate, but you haven't calculated wrong you just don't have a 28day cycle.

Moosh18 · 16/05/2022 12:34

I'm having a similar concern, I know exactly when I ovulated, April 17th, making me 6+2 however at a private scan yest, abdominal, the dated me 5+4 do you think that's a concern?! Or could it just be dating is our x

babyjellyfish · 16/05/2022 12:37

5+5 today and no symptoms whatsoever. But I didn't really have any symptoms in my last pregnancy either.

I know something is definitely happening in there because I got bloods done on Saturday and this morning and my HCG is now around 27,000. Take that, stupid Clearblue digital!

First ultrasound on Wednesday.

If you ovulated on 17th April you would be 6+1 today and 6 weeks exactly yesterday. It's normal for the scan measurements to be a little off at this stage because everything is so tiny.

How come you went for a private scan?

XrayFish · 16/05/2022 12:49

@Moosh18 I personally wouldn't worry if it was less than a week out (unless already worried by something else), but very easy for me to say I know. It's likely a combination of scan accuracy and not actually conceiving on the day you ovulated.

Moosh18 · 16/05/2022 12:50

@babyjellyfish that's great on hcg I've had my first draw this morning and second on wed, how long did results take?

I had a scan as I had spotting for five days last week, they saw a cyst on my ovary which they said explained the bleeding, I'm just concerned about the five days diff,

I also don't have many symptoms! Dizzy often and bouts of quite bad sickness that is all xx

Hana89 · 16/05/2022 12:51

@candlemaker22
I am about 6 weeks and I have sore boobs (which are pretty constant) fatigue, nausea, and heartburn (all of which fluctuate day to day). Occasionally I get a tiny bit of cramping/pinching on my left side too but that seems to be letting up a bit.
I hope your symptoms ease up soon. 4 weeks is early but I guess with all of the hormones rushing around, anything goes! 😁

@Fifi1994 that does all sound quite confusing but I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure at your next scan they'll be able to give you a much clearer idea. How are you feeling overall?

Hana89 · 16/05/2022 12:56

@Moosh18 Everything is such a worry at this stage, isn't it? I would try not to worry too much about the slight difference in dates. Maybe conception occured at the end of the ovulation window and implantation maybe took a little longer too.
How are you feeling today?

Moosh18 · 16/05/2022 12:57

@Hana89 it can't of been later as I got positive at 9dpo so I know my dates are bang on, all I can hope is the sonographer was out on dates, they measured the sac not the baby so I hope so!!!

Your symptoms sound awful! I had all that with my daughter at 6 weeks! Hit me like a train x

Hana89 · 16/05/2022 13:11

If you're that certain of your dates then I'm sure the sonographer must have made a mistake and measured incorrectly. It must be tricky at this early stage when everything is so tiny! 😊💖
My symptoms don't bother me too much, I'm just anxious and glad that I feel something!

Moosh18 · 16/05/2022 13:32

@Hana89 yeah o used to take comfort in mine! Well I've done a blood draw today so will hopefully see in next few days my levels x

Cat2hop · 16/05/2022 13:32

I was waiting to see fertility specialist because am old and we tried for > 6 months. They called today to confirm next week's appt - first person apart from DH that knows news (me...ah well I don't think I need the appointment after all 🤞🤞🤞)

@candlemaker22 just a few niggly things - peeing a bit more, feeling a bit tired, bit hungry and nauseous at times today - but also pretty sure I have toddler's virus and probably looking for symptoms - have felt like this when not pregnant too. And concentrating well today which is nice.

@babyjellyfish ha take that clear blue. Just goes to show, urine test does not equal actual HCG!

Hana89 · 16/05/2022 13:34

@Moosh18 I'll be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed for good news xx

@Lifeafterloss22 thank you so much for taking the time to write that, I feel better about the spotting as that has been explained, I'm just concerned about being behind, I guess as it was external it wouldn't be as clear, they couldn't see baby but could see sac and yolk.... she said she wasn't concerned as nothing indicated an issue shape size etc was good and generally during a miscarriage the shape of the sac would be off... I think the freaky timing is the day I started spotting I was 5 +4!!! And that's what she dated me at not 6 +2!! That could be coincidence then x

Depends where you have them done!

I had some done in the UK through my old GP surgery and they took a couple of days.

Where I live now in France it's always the same day and usually within a few hours!

If it was a transabdominal scan then I'm surprised they saw anything at all at 6 weeks!

onepessaryatatime · 16/05/2022 14:59

Hi guys, v.new to this, can I join?

IE00 · 16/05/2022 15:29

@Moosh18 glad all was okay.

To those who have been testing, did it give you piece of mind? I had committed to not doing any further tests until my scan at 7 weeks but now I'm not so sure. I'm looking for piece of mind. Perhaps it's not possible when you are just 4 + 3!

Moosh18 · 16/05/2022 15:52

@IE00 it did until I hit the hook effect at 5 and a half weeks! So honestly I wouldn't recomend keeping testing, as it can absolutely terrify you!! X

IE00 · 16/05/2022 16:38

@Moosh18 I'm so surprised it reaches that so quickly. If your cycle is very long or irregular it would be quite easy to miss the BFP.

I came across this on another mumsnet forum, explains it beautifully:
