I have my scan at 13.30 today and I am terrified! I'm trying to keep busy but it's so hard. It's baby #1 so I have no idea what to expect.

Hopefully I'll be able to add my date to the above this afternoon 😀

LolaJ87 · 25/05/2022 09:59

Good luck @KittyKat1989 - hope it goes great!

PinkFizz1 · 25/05/2022 10:11

@LolaJ87 I’ve had 3 scans so far but going to wait until next week for my official one before adding my date as it’s changed on every scan so far 😂

@KittyKat1989 Good luck for your scan how exciting! Have you had any private scans yet or is this the first time you’re going to see your baby?

Good luck for your scan later. I paid for a private one at 7 weeks and now I have my first NHS one this Friday when I will be 9+1.

Got my 12 week scan tomorrow and so terrified. I have no particular reason to be but I'm just scared something will have gone wrong and I have no clue.

Also I hadn't realised until a friend explained to me...they can't tell you the results of the nuchal translucency right away, you have to wait a couple of weeks for the result and then get the NIPT if necessary. So I could be up to 16 weeks before knowing there's an issue?! And therefore probably wanting to keep it quiet from most people for that much longer.

@Nutella99 sorry you’re feeling so anxious. I have already told quite a few people now - I figure, if things don’t work out, I’ll appreciate the sympathy.

Anyone else feeling a bit overwhelmed? This is our first baby, and I was hoping to be a bit more organised than this! Our house still has a fair bit of DIY and the list is not getting ticked off. Only 30 weeks to go.

And my wardrobes and cupboards are so completely full. There’s tat everywhere! Where am I going to put all my maternity clothes?! Is it even worth keeping my little summer dresses and bikinis and things - will I ever even wear them again?!

I feel so overwhelmed that I’m burying my head in the sand, and not doing anything productive 😣 I can’t bear to get started 😩

Amphibian94 · 25/05/2022 12:02

@nutella99 really? I had my 12 week scan on Monday morning and bloods. By the afternoon I had my results. Seemed really quick and easy.

Tofu35 · 25/05/2022 12:33

Someone in my wider team is retiring and today was her last day. So I told her I'm pregnant and she was so happy for me. I'm trying not to look too far into the future, I think the miscarriage last year has made me so cautious about everything, but hearing her be excited for me was so lovely.

LolaJ87 · 25/05/2022 12:42

@DogsAndGin oh I am so in the same boat! I've bought some vacuum bags and going to try to find the energy to pack away anything I won't be wearing for a while. Getting the motivation to start sorting through everything is such a pain though!

We need to clear out every room in the house... especially the box room (currently full of random things and leftover wedding stuff) which is to become our nursery.

@Nutella99 best of luck tomorrow - hopefully it will be such a relief to get through!

I've told everyone our news now.

hopefulsunshine11 · 25/05/2022 12:44

@Nutella99 I'm the same! I am feeling sick with nerves! I just have an overwhelming feeling I'm going to get the scan and no baby is there or heartbeat. I think the results come back quite soon though definitely not two weeks.

I had a MMC last year and a small bit spotting last week which is giving me added worries. Symptoms have gone too and getting a fair bit cramps which may or may not just be gas.

I think we just need to try and be positive and know that whatever the outcome we can't control it and the odds are everything will be ok.

stuntbubbles · 25/05/2022 12:46

@DogsAndGin We’re moving house from a “done” but chaotic due to 3yo house to a “needs work” house, not sure when given chains, but all being well in 3-4 months when I’ll be 5-6 months pregnant, need to find the 3yo a nursery in the new city, need to declutter before moving…

Then at the other end need to rapidly unpack, get the 3yo settled in a temporary bedroom, organise a reno and decoration of her eventual room, unearth from the packing all the baby stuff from vacuum bags from the attic, sort our room to be baby-ready, organise the wider renovations, sort all the ballache moving-house admin, which will conveniently coincide with the car’s MOT, and look at and apply for school places for the following year. Oh and ensure we’re ready for the 3yo’s Christmas presents, stocking and food, because December baby.

😬😬😬😬😬😬😬

I’m usually a Type-A list-making organisation Marie Kondo freak but I’m in total denial about it all and instead of decluttering or preparing or doing ANYTHING I’ve just booked us a pre-move summer holiday in an off-grid no-water no-electricity shepherd’s hut, in what must be the world’s biggest hormonal denial/distraction countermove.

DogsAndGin · 25/05/2022 12:48

@LolaJ87 that’s a good idea, I’ll order some storage boxes. I just want to throw away everything I own and start again (if only I could win the lottery!). Good luck to you clearing everything out. We’ll get there

tasha4eva10 · 25/05/2022 12:49

When is everyone planning on starting to buy things? I'm 9 weeks tomorrow and although early I have brought a few unisex outfits but nothing else and very aware that time will soon take over but don't know when to start buying actual "stuff"

DogsAndGin · 25/05/2022 12:51

@stuntbubbles I feel exactly the same! I just want to go camping in a field with no one and nothing around me.

I think I’m going to have to be ruthless - if I haven’t worn it for a year, it surely has to go?! I still have vacuum bags which I filled before we moved house over a year ago and I’ve still not unpacked them! Get rid?!

It sounds like you’ve got a lot on your plate, I hope you’ve got people around you to help you x

DrummerMama · 25/05/2022 12:58

@DogsAndGin you're not alone. I'm wondering where the heck to fit the second hand clothes I'm having to buy already because I'm so bloated all the time and now starting to get a wee bump. I've decided to keep all my jeans, tops etc and put them in a luggage case in the back of a cupboard to free up drawer space and also just in case I can (by some miracle) fit them again next year.

We're looking at selling and moving in the next 12 months so trying to get through DIY bits before we get agents in to do valuations. It is a bit overwhelming at times, but getting started is the hardest bit really, so I am only attempting things on days I feel good. I've also had to just accept that I can't move furniture around and run up and down ladders like usual, so its a change!

As for baby prep, I'm waiting until we've told family this weekend, had test results back and get to at least 13 weeks before I do anything. Don't know where to start but I've got 2 weeks to ponder it 🤔

Mommabear20 · 25/05/2022 13:02

@tasha4eva10 I've got most things left over from DD and DS, but I have already bought baby a swimming towel, swimming costume, new sleeping bags, and some warm slippers (both DC are summer babies so sleeping bags we have are for wrong season), as well as a new car seat for DD, so baby can have the one DS is in and he can move into DDs. I've also started Christmas shopping, I don't fancy dragging 2 toddlers around busy stores when heavily pregnant 😂

OP posts:
stuntbubbles · 25/05/2022 13:09

@DogsAndGin Yes! There is method to my madness! We’ll be in a field with no STUFF and no to-do list and it will all be fine.

Also contemplating burning the house down rather than packing it. DP is hands-on and taking the lion’s share of organising the move while I flail about, thankfully. But he also has ADHD to the organisation skills are lacking. Roll on the third trimester burst of crazy energy where I’ll be up ladders, doing things!

DogsAndGin · 25/05/2022 13:16

Oh wow @Mommabear20 you are so organised! I haven’t bought anything yet, and I am really dreading people heaping loads of gifts on me. I can’t stand ‘things’.

@DrummerMama thank you for the reassurance. It sounds like you’re doing incredibly well, and have a good plan of what’s next on your list.

@tasha4eva10 I haven’t bought anything yet, and feel really stressed out at the thought of doing so. I’ve looked into Whirli toy subscription, and I just wish there was one for everything else for babies/maternity too!
