Don't think we've done a food check in for a few days. What's for dinner tonight? What was on our plates last week but now gives us the ick 😂

lifechanginglemoncake · 19/05/2022 16:35

I'm really struggling with food. I had GD in my last pregnancy which was diagnosed at 28 weeks and diet controlled. I've already started testing my sugars this time and had some high readings so I'm back on a strict diet and trying to keep the numbers good and it's a whole lot to think about. The thought of doing this until December is very daunting!
Hope others are having less food stress.

@Jj19 is there a Facebook group I can join? Thanks!

stuntbubbles · 19/05/2022 16:57

@Tofu35 All food remains terrible: bread, oranges, peanut butter, bananas, chicken, crisps, soup, pasta, sausages and water in particular give me the boak.

I did eat an entire bag of salad yesterday with Caesar dressing, so that’s something. I’m so thirsty it’s untrue but no matter what I try, it’s horrible. Everything has to be ice-cold and even then it’s an ordeal. My urine sample to the midwife today was practically opaque.

Tofu35 · 19/05/2022 17:08

I had gnocchi and some tomato sauce from a jar yesterday and I was so sick that I was in bed by 830. Definite food fail!

@lifechanginglemoncake sorry to hear about your GD in your last pregnancy, but good you're on top of it this time (even if it means you're restricting what you can have).
@stuntbubbles I am imagining you eat that salad straight out of the bag like some crisps! Hope you find that magic food item soon, getting the boak is no fun!

Laughingmole · 19/05/2022 17:30

I’m 12 weeks today (yay!) and for the last week my eating is slowly returning to normal! I’ve been able to eat a few things that were repulsive to me a couple of weeks ago! I had my first Cadbury’s creme egg as I haven’t even touched my Easter eggs! And I’m back on cereal for breakfast!
The second trimester is coming!! 👍👍

HayleyBean · 19/05/2022 17:31

@Tofu35 - I've just had a plain cheese pizza for dinner. It's all I can be arsed with. The house needs cleaning but I'm currently on my bed cuddled up with one of my cats. The cleaning can wait 😂 I'm really struggling with drinking at the mo, I can only drink water and that tastes mank!

@tasha4eva10 - I think I'm getting ligament pain, I'm not really sure. Feels quite sharp, almost like ovulation pain?

@Bluebonnet3 - I've got no idea about picking hospitals, tbh I didn't realise that was a thing but it makes complete sense. I live on an island and there's only 1 hospital so no choosing for me

Melusina123 · 19/05/2022 17:57

@Tofu35 Food wise, I'm constantly nauseous (but no vomiting which is something...) and everything sounds bad to me right now. I can eat things, I just don't want to so I'm leaving all meal decisions to my partner and just attempt to consume whatever he puts in front of me.

Re: hospitals @Bluebonnet3 , my local hospital has a bit of a bad rep and I personally had a bad experience at A&E there with my CP in Nov so I'm going a bit further afield to a hospital which seems to be a bit nicer to its mums. Still only 20min by road tho which seems like a good idea...

Scan tmrw at 8+5. Very nervous!

AG96 · 19/05/2022 18:12

@Tofu35 we're having bolognese tonight. I can't stop eating!!! So surprised I hadn't gained wait from booking to my dating scan yesterday.
So hungry all the time. It's quite annoying really 😂 if I don't eat as soon as I'm hungry then nausea hits.
@tasha4eva10 also been having some sharp pains/ligament pain. Quite scary first time I had them!

Mommabear20 · 19/05/2022 19:04

Felt like my nausea was starting to fade away at the beginning of the week but it's been back with vengeance yesterday and today 😭 I'm currently laid in bed sipping my green tea as it's the only drink I've been able to drink for the past few days!
I desperately wanted a Chinese for tea (chicken in batter with fried rice, nothing spicy!) but H made a big fuss about money (even though he ordered an Indian last night) and guilted me into having a frozen pepperoni pizza instead which isn't sitting well at all 😢

Wanderlust16 · 19/05/2022 19:39

i hope everyone is doing ok at the moment! Just a wee question; I’m 10+3 at the moment but I’ve started getting a pain just under my belly button. At my booking appointment the midwife said to expect stretching and things, I was just wondering if anyone else has had this? It’s not really painful; just a bit odd and nothing like period pains etc. Thanks in advance :)

siobhanmt247 · 19/05/2022 19:47

I'm 9w4d and I've felt the best I have in weeks. One had zero appetite and just not wanted food at all but work up starving so I'm loving enjoying eating again!

stuntbubbles · 19/05/2022 20:22

Had my booking in appointment today and feel wrung out from it – wasn’t expecting to be so emotional but a couple of questions opened up the floodgates about birth trauma, assault, and other horrors, and pre- and post-natal depression. Midwives (there was a student there too) were extremely kind and like “take off the mask, here’s the tissues” and now my file is marked up with all sorts of things to keep me wrapped in cotton wool for certain aspects (feel I’m being weird and vague but don’t want to specify this particular traumatic thing that will be triggered by pregnancy care). Fairly certain there’s a box ticked for “put this one on the batshit pathway”.

Also the joys of them trying to find a vein for the blood tests when I am as desiccated as a coconut thanks to water aversion Grin

stuntbubbles · 19/05/2022 20:26

@Wanderlust16 I think I remember this from the first time. Possibly it’s your uterus expanding and everything that’s usually around your belly button shuffling around to make room. Nothing sinister.

Tofu35 · 19/05/2022 20:56

@mommabear20 oh no, that sucks if you have food cravings and end up with something else! Hope your stomach settle soon.

@stuntbubbles I'm so glad they treated you with such love and respect at your booking appointment, that's lovely to hear. I hope the notes on your file will be taken into consideration for the rest of your appts

@siobhanmt247 yas! Enjoy your day of feeling hungry! Hope you have some nice treats lined up for you.

DogsAndGin · 19/05/2022 21:06

@hopefulsunshine11 that’s great to hear! oh yes - I’ve been having lots of fruit. But I’m so dizzy today I’ve gone back onto iron tablets, so they might be counterproductive 😅

@baby2in2022 sorry you're still feeling rough 💐 Good luck for your scan on Saturday x

DogsAndGin · 19/05/2022 21:19

@Tofu35 I was good yesterday - salmon, potatoes and veg! But today was a take away, oops

I’m just so tired. I really struggled today, and very suddenly felt like I was going to be sick.

We have been summoned by the in-laws to spend the weekend in London with them, which is hours away, going down after work tomorrow with dinner booked for 8:30pm! How am I going to manage!? I’ve usually had a 2 hour nap by then! 😩😩😩 straight from work to London to dinner. I feel they don’t take pregnancy tiredness seriously. I’m so dizzy and lightheaded 😭 very nearly blacked out today.

Then, DSIL has invited us for a big country walk! I can barely shuffle to bed! I need to tell them all to bugger off.

LolaJ87 · 19/05/2022 21:56

So because of my spotting and my failed NIPT, I got another scan done at the hospital today. So relieved to see baby was doing well and waving at me. There’s nothing problematic or obvious causing the spotting so they don’t think it’s a cause for concern.

I’ve had a horrible week and cried the whole drive to the hospital, between a few different things stress has really gotten the better of me. I hope anyone else who’s struggling starts to find it easier soon ♥️

AG96 · 19/05/2022 22:38

@stuntbubbles so good that you were able to be honest with them and they were supportive and nice to you 💐. I cried like a baby in my booking appointment as I opened up about past trauma so also had the box ticked for the batshit pathway 😂.
I also have 0 veins and blood tests are a nightmare! Good job I'm used to blood tests and them having to try more than once every time 😂

MadamMaltesers · 20/05/2022 00:41

@DogsAndGin honestly tell them to piss off in the nicest way possible. Have you checked your iron levels? I was blacking out and was so dizzy turned out my iron was fine but I was dehydrated. A couple of IVs sorted me out and I felt so much better.

tasha4eva10 · 20/05/2022 08:56

Morning ladies

How is everyone? Well I have been absolutely exhausted and in pain with ligaments that we go on holiday today and I'm only just packing!!!

I have NEVER been this bad and I hate it, I was venting to my mum and she said it's my own fault for having d**k 😂 so I'm hoping I get more sympathy on here 🤣🤣.

Is anyone else showing? I'm already having to wear a few maternity clothes because my bottoms are too tight 😳

F03t · 20/05/2022 09:09

Hi, hope everyone is OK. I'm 11+4 and pregnancy symptoms disappeared entirely about 2.5 weeks ago. Also feeling less tired and my boobs have shrunk, and have had diarrhea most of this week. Have my dating scan next Weds and don't feel pregnant anymore - trying to brace myself for bad news.

We had a scan/saw heartbeat at 8+2 but wondering if anyone has stories (positive or negative) of MMC with symptoms disappearing after an early scan, or if all worked out ok. Meeting OH's friends this weekend at an airbnb and he really wants to tell them and I'm scared its going to be bad news next week :( sorry to rant just really a ball of absolute anxiety.

siobhanmt247 · 20/05/2022 09:34

@F03t I can't offer much support as I'm pretty much in the same boat. I'm almost ten weeks and boobs are less sorenandbim starting to feel normal again. I have seen lost of posts from people who day similar though and they're baby turned out fine. When I had an mmc my symptoms didn't go and my hcg continued to rise for a few days until after I started spotting so I don't think it's an indicator of an mmc x

AG96 · 20/05/2022 10:05

@F03t I'm 11+4 too. Also no longer have sore boobs and haven't for a few weeks. Only symptoms I really have is that I'm starving and can't sleep properly!
This was my scan at 11+2 with everything looking good so try not to worry about no symptoms.
How I look at it is just assume it's okay until it isn't, if that makes sense, otherwise you'll drive yourself insane.

AG96 · 20/05/2022 10:07

Also does anyone think the skull looks girlish or boyish? I'm convinced I'm having a boy but DP thinks girl 😂 I'm starting to think it's a girly skull rounded skull 🤔

Nutella99 · 20/05/2022 10:07

I'm 11+2 now and my nausea is definitely less...most days, and boobs less sore, but still really tired all the time. And really spotty, urgh!

I'm going to an event today and tried on the dress I'd decided to wear last week. It fit fine last week and was its normal flattering fit skimming over my always sightly big stomach. But I've put it on today and it's tighter round the boobs and my belly is much more obvious 🤦‍♀️

I'm not sure it's possible to be showing baby-wise at this stage?! Is it just because I've been eating so much carby food to get me through the nausea?
