@hopefulsunshine11 - I have such awful anxiety waiting for my scan. My appointment is on 31/05 and it still feels ages away. I've not had an early scan or anything and I'm terrified it's going to be bad news

Chanel05 · 16/05/2022 08:53

I think I've asked this before but I'm going to ask again 😂.

For those of you that have toddlers, what are you doing to entertain them when you're finding morning sickness too much? I have a 20 month old dd and at the moment, I'm so nauseous all day, every day. I'm currently a sahm and don't have family nearby, so for 10/11 hours a day, it's just the two of us. I feel like a crap mum when I'm putting the tv on for her.

stuntbubbles · 16/05/2022 09:30

@Chanel05 Oh, our TV watching has gone through the roof! My view is, she’s happy, I’m happy because I get to lie down and conserve energy. If I run around and play I end up really sick and tired and end up a horrible mummy.

Some other things we’re doing that are not TV but don’t require a lot of input from me: jigsaw puzzles, lots of colouring, garden time – she potters around with a mini watering can while I sit down, books books and more books. Although I have found that getting up and out and some fresh air makes me feel a bit better.

LolaJ87 · 16/05/2022 10:04

Hi Ladies, I got back from Honeymoon on Saturday so I've been missing from the thread for a while. I was sick a few of the days but it was lovely to still be away for a while!

I have to say though, I really struggled a lot with the uphill walks in Tenerife. I was surprised as I have kept fairly active (walking the dog every morning, swimming once or twice week) but I just kept running out of steam and I needed lots of naps.

My NIPT results are due on Thursday and I am getting progressively nervous.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

LC84 · 16/05/2022 10:18

Morning ladies! 7+5 today and symptoms are coming and going, still no sickness (occasional nausea maybe) so I am up and down with the anxiety lol!

I know nothing can change outcome really, but the wait for that 12w scan and reassurance is draggggggging 🙈🤣 Have booked another early scan for 9+3 just so I have something to aim for in my head(!)

Also struggling with body changing already... put on couple of pounds this week and am so bloated already god knows how I'll cope later on 😳🤣

Mommabear20 · 16/05/2022 11:03

Has anyone ever had 'consultant lead' care during their pregnancy? Been told by my midwife that because of heavy bleeding post delivery with my 2 previous births, I have to have consultant lead care during this pregnancy but no idea what that means 🤷‍♀️

OP posts:
PinkFizz1 · 16/05/2022 11:09

@Mommabear20 I’m being consultant led. This is my first pregnancy so no real experience as yet but the midwife told me it just means more scans in the 3rd trimester and more face to face meetings (with the consultant) along with the usual midwife appointments. For me it’s due to my blood pressure so during my consultant meetings they’ll take my BP and keep an eye on it through those regular meetings. Not sure what it’ll entail for your specific reason. Sorry if that’s vague but that’s all the info I have at the moment 😊 I’m quite glad though as it means I’ll be seeing baby more than a ‘normal’ risk pregnancy!

hopefulsunshine11 · 16/05/2022 11:12

That's why I've not went for an early scan as I had a bad experience at my last one and it put me off. I thought just wait to 12 weeks and hope for the best outcome 😊. I'm so stressed though.

I just don't know what I will do if I get bad news I think I will end up in a bad way which really scares me.

My partners got 3 friends who's gf's are expecting and recently announced and I keep thinking oh well I'm the 1 in 4 again 😩.

I think I need to try my best and just remember it's outwith my control and I've overcome some horrific events in my life and I'm a strong person.

Good luck to everyone with scans this week 💕.

Amphibian94 · 16/05/2022 11:13

@Mommabear20 it just means more appointments with doctors rather than just midwife appointments. I'm consultant led due to possibility of baby developing heart block. So I see a doctor regularly, more than I would if I was just midwife led. It will be tailored to your needs/issues

Chanel05 · 16/05/2022 11:15

@Mommabear20 good question! I'm also consultant led this time due to having a major PPH after my emcs.

AG96 · 16/05/2022 11:48

@Mommabear20 I'm also consultant lead care due to high bmi and previous health issues. This is my first pregnancy so also unsure what it means for me!

Off work this week as a "you've nearly finished first trimester" treat! Sat watching One born every minute clips on YouTube crying every time a babies born 😭😂

PinkFizz1 · 16/05/2022 11:50

@AG96 Are you me?! I’m literally doing the same except I’m watching full episodes on catch up and crying every single time a baby is born 😂

MrsN3 · 16/05/2022 11:54

Hello everyone! Sorry I’ve not been in here in ages (got too overwhelmed trying to keep up with messages and couldn’t believe I was pregnant)

10 weeks and 6 days today and unfortunately home from work sick- I am sick some mornings first thing then can be fine- very much have days of being sick and days of being fine. Started getting sickness at 6 weeks and since then it’s been off and on this is the second worst day (8weeks 4days was unable to even keep water down)

any tips to beat the nausea???? Really don’t want to try taking tablets if I can help it TYIA xx

AG96 · 16/05/2022 11:55

@PinkFizz1 I used to watch it before my pregnancy and was never fussed. Now the hormones got me bawling and calling strangers babies "gorgeous" 😂

MochaHoldTheMilkAndCoffee · 16/05/2022 11:57

@Mommabear20
I'm consultant led too and was with my DD due to a blood condition which I have. I only saw my midwife at 20w and then again at 34w. I saw my consultant lots and in the 3rd trimester have fortnightly scans. Although I have nothing to compare it too I found the care really personalised and I loved all the extra chances to see the baby in the scans.

lovesT · 16/05/2022 13:43

@AG96 yes a few times 😳 (answering DTD question) I wasn't sure for a while because the brown spotting I had around 7 weeks made me nervous but after the scans and it all seeming okay we spoke about it then went for it a while after but we were just careful and I know it doesn't make any sense at all but I feel more comfortable with him wearing a condom 🤷 so we've been doing that lol. I haven't had any pain or problems, no cramps or anything so we've been happy to carry on. I wouldn't if I felt uncomfortable or anything but it has been fine for us 😊 maybe wait until after the 12 week scan if you're nervous?

@Chanel05 2 year old here .. lots of playdough, reading, telly, drawing, sticker books (sticker books are great! Entertain her for ages and we sit down doing them) and also baking, I just get all of the ingredients on the table and we sit there and she does mixing etc, then we have something yummy to eat too!

@littlecontis I've felt similar 😔 it's so sad to read and obviously fuels anxiety. I hope we see you back soon with lovely scan news x

I'm 11+1 today, scan a week on Friday 😊 I'm feeling much better which is nice, makes me slightly anxious at times but mostly it's just nice to feel better than I have been. Sore boobs still there and occasional mild growing/ stretching pains. I definitely remember the second trimester being the easiest and not too far from that now! 👍

Hope you're all okay x

Would like to second this call for help. Also my first day back to work after having COVID and I'm struggling. I'm 8+3 and struggling to kick the nausea. Before I was able to subdue it with food. Now nothing is working.

But there's a part of me that's absolutely delighted it's there.

MrsCrumbtious · 16/05/2022 14:20

I’m 9 weeks today and my 3 year old has come down with HFM 😩 I’ve phoned up the midwife for advice and there’s not really much I can do apart from wash hands thoroughly after helping wipe her bum (always do anyway) and not to touch her blisters. Just hoping my years of working in childcare has given me some sort of cast iron immunity lol.

hope you’re all doing ok today xx

LolaJ87 · 16/05/2022 14:25

I've just had a call to say my NIPT was inconclusive and I need to go for a re-draw. Has this happened to anyone else?

Mememe17 · 16/05/2022 14:34

Hello everyone hope you're all ok. Sorry to hear about your loss horriblewoman. I won't tag you as I'm sure you don't need dragging back into this thread, but in case you're reading this. Sorry I'm late with it.

I wonder if anyone can answer me a question about NIPT tests etc. when I had DD and DS the tests were quite new and very expensive. The NHS didn't fund them. Now I think they do in certain cases - but I'm not sure who gets it? Is it anyone that's over a certain age or is it if the combined test at 12 weeks comes back with higher chance? Or does it depend on area? Im not in the UK so I can't just ask my midwife, and so I have private health insurance but it won't pay for pregnancy for another few months as there was a waiting period and im too soon.

baby2in2022 · 16/05/2022 16:16

@Mememe17 I think it's only offered if 12 week screening bloods come back high risk.

Sorry I've been missing a couple of days. A very hectic weekend celebrating my sons first birthday. The tiredness seems to be easing slightly. I don't feel half as bad as last week and have been managing to stay up a little bit later in the evening as well.

Anyone else the same? I'm 9 weeks today based on LMP but could actually be a couple of days less than that. First scan on Saturday so hoping this week goes fast. Closer it gets the more I just want to know that everything is ok xx

Tofu35 · 16/05/2022 16:42

@baby2in2022 I stayed up for the whole of Eurovision the other day! Latest I've been up in 10 weeks 😂

Wanderlust16 · 16/05/2022 16:54

@Tofu35 me too! Ended up having to take a 3 hour nap the next day too!

How are everyone else’s hormones? Mines are off the scale at the moment!

MadamMaltesers · 16/05/2022 17:28

Hi everyone,

Can't remember the last time is posted on here. Currently 10 +1 weeks, not been feeling great to be honest. Prescribed me oral progesterone which basically made me a madwoman. Still haven't had an early scan, too scared. Had to go to hospital y'day to be put on a drip and feel a lot better thank God.

I may sound crazy but I was laying down on my back y'day and Im pretty sure I felt a flutter, it isn't my 1st so I know 2nd and 3rd babies could be felt sooner than the 1st. It felt like a little flip, bottom left hand side.

stuntbubbles · 16/05/2022 17:42

My hormones are off the charts, I cried at “Let it Go” in Frozen yesterday, trying to explain to DP between heaving sobs, “She doesn’t have to be the good girl she’s always had to be!”

Had the day off today so went to a gallery with a friend, walked along the river, then lunch. Nothing strenuous. Came home and slept from 2-5pm and only woke up because DP came to wake me so I’ll be vaguely compos mentis for DD coming home from nursery.
