Ahhh you guys are so wonderful. Thank you so much for the reassurances, nearly brought me to tears. I am buying “expecting better” today! xx

stuntbubbles · 11/05/2022 12:58

Got my scan appointment! Of course it’s the one day ever DP is away with work so now I have to spend all afternoon hanging off the phone to the appointment line.

I feel like something dredged up from the deep today. And in a total brain fog where I’m pretending to do work but realistically I am just typing nonsense on a page and hoping no one asks me anything in depth.

tasha4eva10 · 11/05/2022 13:23

Anyone else really struggling with the tiredness and have no motivation to do anything? I wake early each day to see my partner off to work and daughter to school but come 9am I'm getting back into bed to sleep and only just managing to get out at lunchtime! It's almost 1.30pm now and all I have done today is sleep and just finished lunch 🙈. This week seems to be the hardest tiredness wise

lifechanginglemoncake · 11/05/2022 13:33

@tasha4eva10 this was me last week (8 weeks pregnant) and I had to take a day off work and go back to bed as I just hit a wall of exhaustion. Feeling better this week but that's come with anxiety. Hope it eases for you.

KokoNights · 11/05/2022 13:57

Oh gosh. I'm so unproductive these days. I can barely manage without a nap. On the plus side, my nausea seems almost gon - but that's just making me panic that something's gone wrong as I thought it usually lasted for at least the first trimester. My breasts also seem way less sore....

I think I will book another early scan, but my partner is against it, as doesn't want me to worry unduly... But my NHS scan is still 3 and a bit weeks away, and I don't think I can cope until then (especially as I feel I will have to let family and work know sooner than that!)

Tofu35 · 11/05/2022 15:11

Waiting in maternity for my check in appointment, just holding my urine sample and trying to ignore all "wouldn't it be funny if the top wasn't on and it spilled on you" thoughts in my head.

stuntbubbles · 11/05/2022 15:19

@tasha4eva10 I’m deeply envious you get to go back to bed! DD spent most of last night awake in our bed and finally fell asleep around 5am. I’m stumbling through the work day in a blanket of fog and considering pulling a mid-afternoon sicky.

Laughingmole · 11/05/2022 17:35

Glad another people are feeling similar things. I’m absolutely exhausted and can barely function once I get home from work. I work in a school, but spoke to my headteacher on Monday about how I was feeling and she was so good. She’s arranged cover so I’m only in class half days. I’m so glad to have that support and it’s made such a difference to have a bit more time!

Totally understand what people are saying about wanting confirmation. I still can’t believe no medical professionals actually confirm the pregnancy. I was so relieved when I had my private scan and there was actually a baby there!

Graceybaby · 11/05/2022 17:43

Insomnia is still going strong here, which is making life so tough right now as I also have an almost 5 year old to take care of!.. I can only get some sleep if poor OH sleeps downstairs and I can spread out in the bed as I just can't get comfy.. I'm a full time stomach sleeper but it's already really uncomfortable and almost makes me feel sick when I do.. he tried sleeping in the bed last night but I just got so frustrated with him, he had to go downstairs, I feel so bad 🙈 But he is brilliant and will do anything to make sure I'm getting some sleep (plus he can literally sleep anywhere so it's no big deal for him!)

We have our private scan on Saturday (8weeks) although expecting to be dated back a few days as I know I ovulated slightly later. I'm excited but really nervous too.. feel like the realness of it is suddenly going to hit me.

Mememe17 · 12/05/2022 04:39

@Laughingmole wow your head sounds super supportive! I've just thrown up in front of my class... well, I managed to get out the door with a bin but I know they saw and heard some of it. The closest toilets are a long way away.... urg

Tofu35 · 12/05/2022 06:45

Aww @Mememe17 that sounds rough, did you feel any better after you were sick? It's amazing how knowledgeable we have to be about where our nearest toilet is just now.

Hope you have a nice relaxing after school day planned :)

Mememe17 · 12/05/2022 07:15

@Tofu35 yes I felt much better, thank you. It's because I didn't carb up at breakfast. I need carbs about every two hours or I get too hungry (!?!) and vomit. But now I've had a carby snack and just now a carby lunch so I'm golden. Sick of eating though tbh!

Mememe17 · 12/05/2022 07:17

Oh yes another vote for expecting better- it's really great.

That author has also done an evidence based book about babies but I haven't read that.

I also found "coping with two" (cheerful title... maybe thriving with two would have been cheerier) to be really helpful when I was pregnant with DC2. Lots of great tips about how to cope with two or more.

Mommabear20 · 12/05/2022 07:34

@Mememe17 oh that's rough! I always hated being sick at work the most! I don't go anywhere now without a stack of nappy bags in my pocket just in case 😂 they're in my pockets, car and handbag 😂

Tofu35 · 12/05/2022 08:36

I thought I was working from home today, which meant I could have a nap, go at my own pace, and not have to pretend to be a human (instead of a gassy swamp creature). Just had an email from my line manager who has decided our zoom meeting should be in person as "half the team are on campus today".

But half the team are at home? Why are we punishing the house mouse group for the sake of the campus clowns?

No option for hybrid meeting, so looks like I need to brave the outside world today!

Tofu35 · 12/05/2022 08:38

@Mommabear20 I have some food waste bags in my handbag and in the glovebox of the car! Maybe I should get some for my pocket too though, I like your style.

Chanel05 · 12/05/2022 09:46

Is anyone else still quite early on and not feeling too bad?

I'm 7+2 and I have a little bit of nausea in the mornings but after I've eaten, that's pretty much it. Boobs aren't that sore either. A week ago, I was feeling horrendous but I feel not too bad. My first two pregnancies were awful in the first trimester so this is new to me.

Melusina123 · 12/05/2022 09:59

@Chanel05 I'm still feeling ok at 7+4 - at least I'm not too nauseous, would describe it more as a bit of an upset stomach. But I do have sore boobs and fatigue/jetlaggy feeling, and a suspected UTI...

I've had the same im 3 days behind you according to dates and any of my previous pregnancies so far have had more severe symptoms which has had me worrying, those pregnancies did end in MMC though so I'm hoping this is a good sign for once fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Chanel05 · 12/05/2022 12:20

@Melusina123 I get the tired feeling at night. I'm asleep at 8.30pm on the dot.

@elliejay9 my first pregnancy ended in a mmc and I never lost the symptoms and my second pregnancy resulted in my daughter and I didn't lose symptoms then either. I guess all pregnancies are different and I should appreciate that I don't feel hideous this time 😬. I had a scan last Sunday but that reassured me for approximately 10 hours 😂.

DogsAndGin · 12/05/2022 13:09

@Chanel05 I’m 8+4 and don’t have many symptoms at all. I’m very tired and constipated, but that’s about it. My boobs are bigger but not very sore.

I’ve got myself in a right tizz though - I’ve still not had an appointment date for my booking appointment and there’s only one week left before I’m ten weeks 🤷🏼‍♀️

Then, I have bloody jury duty! I’m just so stressed! I don’t want to do jury duty, but I don’t want to have to delay it to even later in the pregnancy either 😩 I predict I’ll have to miss my booking appointment at this rate 😢 and if the jury duty drags on I may well miss my 12 week scan too! 😭😭😭

tasha4eva10 · 12/05/2022 13:15

I'm 7w today didn't have the energy do anything again this morning just finished cleaning my room and now feel so sick 🙈 so sucking on a preggie pop sweet. I brought them on Amazon they're boiled sweets you suck on but do actually help! So worth carrying with you out and about.

I have a private scan on Saturday and it can't come quick enough the anxiety is real that's for sure!

Has anyone started buying anything yet? Or when do you plan on starting?

lovesT · 12/05/2022 13:25

Does anyone think it's possible to feel baby movements as early as 10 weeks? According to Google no, so probably not but I keep feeling something that feels like that in the same place just for a second ... I remember the feeling from when I was pregnant with my daughter and I felt her move from 15 weeks. It's unlikely but just interesting! Apparently you might feel movement earlier with second pregnancies x

tasha4eva10 · 12/05/2022 13:26

I was thinking this last night as I felt something strange but given the baby is only a little over 1cm I figured it's probably my digestive system 😂🙈

bbno2 · 12/05/2022 14:13

I find it impossible to remember who to tag on Mumsnet 🙈

@lovesT - I think it's possible. I was unsure but I might also be feeling baby move at 10 weeks but I thought maybe I was just imagining it. But scan yesterday showed baby kicking and wiggling around a lot so I think it could be baby. This is my second too and it feels just like it did at 15 weeks with my daughter. Who knows. Nice to think it could be them.

Re: symptoms.
My first pregnancy was a MMC and I had nausea all the way till the 12 week scan and sore boobs. But baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks.
Second pregnancy I had my daughter, and I was less nauseous, but it did tail off around 11 weeks (I think) - although I was physically sick with her.
This pregnancy, symptoms started at 6 weeks ish and I've had constant all day nausea at times, but last two days it's tailed right off and I finally feel like a human again. Baby was thriving at a scan yesterday (10 weeks) and we could see the placenta so hopefully that's why symptoms are tailing off now.

Multiple friends have been pregnant in the past / are pregnant now, and reported that "they felt no different" in their first trimester. I am one of the few of my close friends/family that has actually had a form of morning sickness.

In summary, I don't think symptoms mean much at all tbh, whether they stay or go or you have extreme ones or not. For me, the only thing that was "odd" in my first pregnancy was I spotted (a lot). And I haven't in subsequent pregnancies. But there are also countless women even in this group who have spotted and are growing healthy babies.

So symptoms, or no symptoms, try not to stress. (Easier said than done, I know - I haven't even followed my own advice at all times 🙈)

And I am wildly behind - but sorry to all of those who are no longer on this journey right now. Wishing you all the best for future pregnancies. It sucks. x
