I am both winded but also windy 😳

Good luck at your work conference, @Sdoubleyou! At least a mask will prevent you smelling things that make you nauseous/hide any dry heaving?

I had my first true vomit this morning, but my 3yo did a dance to make me feel better, then gave me a lemon. It helped. But like you all, the anxieties are ramping up. Can’t afford a private reassurance scan and I think my due date is one of the last on the thread, so I’ll likely be the last to get my 12-week scan and be absolutely bricking it. Like being the last one to have to jump off the ski lift and anticipating a face-plant.

lovesT · 10/05/2022 21:07

@Tofu35 yes carrying my daughter up the stairs 😮‍💨 out of breath!!

hopefulsunshine11 · 10/05/2022 21:12

I've got a really watery mouth, what is this all about 🤣. I am exhausted today too, lying in bed with no energy and can't decide if I'm nauseous or not, just feel like a full belly and a gassy feeling. Still two weeks to go til our scan and it feels like 2 years away. All I want is to see a healthy and happy wee bean! Echoing others anxiety today!

LC84 · 10/05/2022 21:30

@stuntbubbles Im right at end of the month too dont worry!!

Also.... the bloat situation is now ridiculous!!! I havent put on weight according to the scales but my stomach is literally puffed out like im about 6 months pregnant 😳😳😩😩 any tips on reducing it?!?!?! (Im only 7wks so it really shouldnt be so big!)

stuntbubbles · 10/05/2022 21:32

@LC84 You'll shrink back after first trimester! Last time I looked heavily pregnant at 12 weeks, I nearly wasn’t allowed on the plane! It was all bloat. Then I shrank back down after the first trimester farts disappeared, and eventually the true bump emerged. I also look ridiculous right now: combo of bloat and crisps, none of my clothes fit already.

siobhanmt247 · 10/05/2022 21:43

I'm at a work event tonight. Only 8 weeks and I knew it would be tough as most of my colleagues are used to me being the last one standing in the bar but I say down for dinner and the guy next to me outright asked me if this is my first! Part of me is happy I might look a little pregnant. My boobs are huge and in super bloated but realistically I know I can't really look pregnant at 8 weeks so I don't know if should be offended lol

LC84 · 10/05/2022 21:45

@stuntbubbles God I hope that happens for me 🤣🙈 Im already in maternity clothes and PJs the minute I get home from work and even at work I feel like the bump is sooooo obvious and I cant hold it in for love nor money 😩

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 10/05/2022 21:55

Is anyone finding early pregnancy very weird? I'm 6+3 and I genuinely keep thinking I've made it up or just waiting for it all to go horribly wrong. It's strange because I got pregnant first time of trying and it was very much a well we'll see how it goes thing as opposed to being desperate for it to happen. I think it's the waiting for appointments or something to happen. I definitely feel sick though!

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 10/05/2022 21:56

Sorry that was a very weird stream of consciousness...

Melusina123 · 10/05/2022 22:08

@Myotherusernameisaferrari yeah it's super weird. There's a bit of me that thinks they're going to scan and be like, "uh, ma'am there's no baby here," even though I have a million positive pregnancy tests. I just feel like I need someone else to be like, "Oh yeah, you're pregnant."

Also the fact that we're not telling people yet means everything else is carrying on as normal, except for this huge thing that is quietly happening behind the scenes.

Horriblewoman · 10/05/2022 22:12

@Myotherusernameisaferrari ditto. Literally 0 clue and I'm as far along as you are.

I've booked an early scan tomorrow, might be too early but wanted some confirmation this thing is actually happening!

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 10/05/2022 22:28

As horrible as it is, I'm really glad it's not just me! I sort of wish the GP or midwives would check and tell you you're not going crazy or making it up!

BuchananBaby · 10/05/2022 23:42

@Tofu35 yeah fly at 8am Tuesday morning so definitely wave us off 😁

@Melusina123 I was exactly the same with my first I felt like a fraud and they'd say there's no baby there you dreamt it 🙈

I've lost 1lb apparently but fat jeans are a bit tight and I'm down to 1 pair of jeans I can wear 😩 I have maternity clothes (thanks fb marketplace 😁) but they'll just fall down because there's no bump 😩

Tofu35 · 11/05/2022 06:00

9+4 today and I've got my booking appointment later! Don't have my first scan until the end of the month so a wee while to wait before I see/hear anything.

Hope we all have a good day today xx

PinkFizz1 · 11/05/2022 06:31

Is it normal for symptoms to disappear by now? I’m 9+6 and the only consistent symptoms I’ve had are really sore boobs and tiredness. The tiredness eased off last week and this morning my boobs are fine 😬😬 Riddled with anxiety even though we had a scan last Monday. I can’t wait another 3 weeks for my 12wk scan 😩

GabsK92 · 11/05/2022 06:45

Guys I’d like some support please

I’m struggling with such guilt. I have GAD and some other MH problems but it’s all sort of imploded atm. This is my first after an MC and I’m 10 weeks. I was invited for a drink with my boss who got me a wine without asking what I wanted to drink. I really don’t want to give away the game yet because we have a tricky relationship and a really busy time at work ahead (I work a fast paced city job) so I had the one glass of wine. Similarly was at a wedding and someone gave me a glass of champs which I drank (really not sure why and I am killing myself over it). I also painted a cupboard a while back without realising that this can also be harmful to the baby and now I’m just walking around feeling like I’m such a bad mother. Any words of advice?? Obviously not drinking otherwise and have very much put down the paintbrush since finding out it’s bad for you!

tasha4eva10 · 11/05/2022 06:59

Hi ladies can I join? I'm a new member so I will give a little back story.

I'm currently 6w+6d pregnant with my miracle baby. I have a soon to be 12 year old daughter whom I needed fertility treatment to conceive. Fast forward to 2019 and I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, the subsequent treatment was brutal and I was told it had left me infertile. I'm 2 years cancer free in July..... around 8 weeks ago I was taken in hospital with a serious infection and in for a week on really strong antibiotics, a few weeks later with no period in sight I decided to take a test to prove my theory that the antibiotics had messed up my cycle. To our complete surprise I was pregnant! Around 3 weeks when we found out.

I had my booking in appointment last week and I have a private scan booked for this Saturday. Symptom wise I'm nauseous now and again, boobs are constantly sore and I'm getting quite a bit of ligament pain.

Graceybaby · 11/05/2022 07:11

@tasha4eva10 Wow congratulations, that's amazing!! 🤩 Also can't believe you've had your booking in appointment already!

I'm 8 weeks this Saturday and yet to hear back from my self-referral... I chased them up and they said they don't get in contact until between 8-12 weeks.. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Have my private scan on Saturday though so that's good, have so much going on right now baby has taken a little back seat atm.. still feel so overwhelmed by it all and struggling to deal with all the emotions!.. plus still not sleeping isn't helping at all..

TradedAtlanta · 11/05/2022 07:38

@GabsK92 please don't beat yourself up. The advice is 0 alcohol because they don't have the data to prove the amount of alcohol that can be safely consumed. It wouldn't be ethical to do a trial where they gave some pregnant women alcohol! If you want to reassure yourself ask women of an older generation what they drank when pregnant. When my mum was pregnant she was advised to drink Guinness!

Tofu35 · 11/05/2022 07:42

@GabsK92 first of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm in the same boat (first pregnancy after miscarriage) and anxiety is high! Second, my friend swears by "expecting better" by Emily Oster, which is all about the evidence behind some of the advice we get in pregnancy. She was known to have a very occasional glass of wine after reading it! It sucks we have to spend the first trimester (when we feel so rough!) pretending everything is fine!

Aww @tasha4eva10 that is a wee miracle baby, good luck with your scan at the weekend!

Usually my husband is awake so I can get some breakfast before I need to go out of bed. I wonder if I can "accidentally" wake him up and inspire him to get my breakfast 😂 I wouldnt usually be so fussy, but I've ran out of bedside snacks!

LC84 · 11/05/2022 07:52

@GabsK92 Dont be so hard on yourself!!! Before home pregnancy tests, noone knew they were pregnant til after 8 weeks anyway and my mum admitted me and my brother were likely pickled in wine those early weeks when she didnt know (like normal weekend drinking I mean) and it was fine. I think the NHS advise 0 alcohol because people no doubt wouldnt moderate and hard to tell how much they are actually drinking and its effects... so try not to worry I very much doubt 2 glasses on separate occasions in your whole pregnancy will do any damage at all :)

Its only recently and mainly in UK they advise 0 alcohol too - my french family say a little wine is good for baby although Im gunna ignore them on this as Im super paranoid after a MMC too, so youre not alone and youre not a bad mum!!!!

Melusina123 · 11/05/2022 07:58

@GabsK92 your worry is completely understandable and valid. The guidance is very conservative to absolutely minimise risk, but the actual thresholds for harm are probably much higher. And most reasons for MC/other issues are completely out of our control (e.g. genetics, hormones). As my GP said, you might get the outcome you want (i.e. a healthy bub) or you might not, but there's very little you can do that will change that outcome either way.

Also if you judged that for your work's sake you needed to take that glass of wine (or you had an absent-minded moment re: champagne), that is fine too. You need to look after yourself and your needs, and just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you have to suddenly become a perfect person who never does anything wrong. We are all perfectly imperfect. :)

@BuchananBaby I wish my GP had just made me pee on a stick or done a blood test or something so I could prove to her I'm pregnant, but she's just taken my word for it! It's not helped by the fact that I have a smidge of trauma from a CP in Nov where I presented to A&E with bleeding at 4+5 and they did a PT that came back negative (presumably HCG too low b/c of chemical) so they suggested that it might just be my period and sent me home🙄despite me having multiple positive tests that morning and the A&E tests being less sensitive. So the point at which a medical professional does a test that says I'm pregnant will be a significant one for me...

stuntbubbles · 11/05/2022 08:01

@GabsK92 Echoing the recommendation to read Expecting Better! It’s incredibly clever and sensible, data-driven, and really drills into the recommendations and what they mean. A glass of booze here and there is fine – if it’s good enough for Gwyneth Paltrow…

Next time someone hands you a drink, use it as cover for the pregnancy - can’t be pregnant if you’re holding a drink, right? And surreptitiously tip into the nearest plant pot in small increments.

Painting is fine! I spent half my last pregnancy up a ladder repainting my flat, because hormones told me to.

Thank you! To be fair I think I had my booking in appointment a lot earlier because of the previous health issues. I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks, midwife phoned at 4 weeks and I saw her for first appointment at 6 weeks. Got a private scan booked for this weekend and my NHS dating scan 27th.

Pinkfig · 11/05/2022 08:30

A work colleague told me yesterday that her friends daughter (37) found out she was 6 months pregnant last weekend! She'd been having periods every month and just thought she'd been putting on a bit of weight.

She only took a test because she went to a wedding that weekend and her gran told her mum she thought she was looking pregnant. Her mum told her in passing after and after stripping off taking a good look at her naked belly took a test and it was positive. How crazy is that?!

Apparently at the scan she was told it was not hugely uncommon - she thought they were going to think she was an idiot for not realising.

Work colleague also told me she had a look at the scan picture and it freaked her out as baby was facing forwards and she could see full on facial features.
