Sorry you’re feeling like that @Pinkfig. Sometimes our gut feelings are right, sometimes we worry unnecessarily. Whatever happens you can’t change the outcome so just know that currently you are pregnant and the odds of everything being ok and much higher than things not being ok. Are you going to go for an early scan for some reassurance?

PandaOrLion · 22/04/2022 09:06

@Tofu35 totally normal! 😬

Im another

PandaOrLion · 22/04/2022 09:07

@Tofu35 totally normal 😬

im another one with not many symptoms, but I’ve been listening to some pregnancy podcasts and that seems normal. Sore boobs and needing to wee a lot but that’s all the last few days.

Graceybaby · 22/04/2022 09:50

@Tofu35 This made me laugh! I know exactly what you mean (I love The Sims... even at 32 haha) If only babies were as easy to look after as they are in The Sims!

Sorry your feeling low @Pinkfig, I'm sure everyone will agree that it such an emotional time.. everyone always assume you should be ecstatic but it's scary.. you spend all that time TTC and then it finally happens and it's overwhelming.. it's a lot to take in and prepare for.. I for one am trying not to be so hard on myself.. I feel guilty because some days I don't feel 'happy' somedays I think omg this is going to be so hard and I'm scared.. and that's ok. We are all human.

xx

@Pinkfig My first pregnancy ended in MMC. During my second pregnancy (which resulted in my now 5 year old DD), I remember, around 6 weeks pregnant having an utter utter freak out because I was absolutely convinced the pregnancy wasn't going well because I had very few/no symptoms. I started getting some symptoms at some point - but didn't really trust that it meant anything as I'd had worse symptoms with my first pregnancy.

Well 12 week scan came around and there was a perfect little baby. I know how you feel - it's awful. I feel a bit like it this time around too tbh (I had no symptoms at 5-6 weeks, and now at 7 1/2 what I had had in terms of nausea seems to have abated again). But I am clinging on to the fact that

I am currently pregnant
I have not bled, I am not in pain
There is no normal when it comes to symptoms - they can come and go, they can never be there, they can be horrendous

An early reassurance scan in a few weeks might help you - I am considering one too. But either way, you are not alone, lots of people feel the same, and the most overwhelming liklihood is that baby is fine.

Did you see the miscarriage reassurance link that was shared before? It is here:

bbno2 · 22/04/2022 10:28

(also cramping is normal, I had a fair bit of it around 5 weeks ish)
When I say no pain, I mean no "omg that hurts" pain.

littlecontis · 22/04/2022 10:54

Thanks @RSmamaa ! I look forward to us reaching the stage where the thread is filled with shopping for baby clothes and deals!!

LolaJ87 · 22/04/2022 11:17

Happy Friday ladies. I'm having an awful lot of trouble with mumsnet and seeing notifications etc. Been catching up this morning!

I have my first scan this evening. I am a mix of fluttery excitement and sicky nerves. A lot of my symptoms have lifted over the last few days, but my boobs are still bigger/painful/swollen and I'm still sleepy a lot so I know my hormones are still working hard.

I'm 7+6 today, and if the scan goes well we are going to tell some more people. Please keep your fingers and toes crossed for me.

bbno2 · 22/04/2022 11:25

@LolaJ87 - Good luck for later, i'm sure you won't need it. :)

PinkFizz1 · 22/04/2022 11:28

@LolaJ87 good luck for tonight! I have everything crossed for you. Please update us as soon as you can! ❤️

Teaandbiscuits22 · 22/04/2022 11:40

Hi Pinkfig I had a mc last July im now 5+2 weeks I feel like I'm just waiting for it to all go wrong again I feel like I can't get excited it's really hard isn't it. I don't know when I'll relax. Does anyone find they can't get warm? I'm freezing all the time except in the night I wake up sweating! I also have sciatic pain down my leg I only had that late on with my other pregnancies.

Graceybaby · 22/04/2022 11:42

Good luck @LolaJ87 I'm sure it'll all be fine! xxx

LolaJ87 · 22/04/2022 11:57

Thanks for all the lovely luck @bbno2 @PinkFizz1 @Graceybaby - I hope I'll be coming back in with good news and a nice scan pic for the thread.

@Teaandbiscuits22 I have had that a lot, a good few days where I cannot get the heat into me at all. Are you eating enough and sleeping enough? If so then it's probably just the hormones! Crazy all the weird things pregnancy does to your body.

hopefulsunshine11 · 22/04/2022 12:24

Good luck @LolaJ87. Is this an early scan or your 12 week?

I'm feeling ok today but had a wave of nausea but I don't know if that's my imagination. I keep thinking I'm pregnant for now it's all good but then I think what if there is no baby as I had a MMC before and there was no fetus formed at all and I didn't pass until the 10 week mark.

I have my midwife appt next week but does anyone else think this should be after the scan as it seems pointless to have a booking appt before a viable scan? That does sound silly as that's the way it has been for ever but just gets hopes up more.

All I want to do is look at baby things and buy stuff 🫢🫢

Meowcat89 · 22/04/2022 12:33

Good luck for later @LolaJ87 I'm sure it'll be fine 🙂

I had my scan at the hospital this morning as I'm under a consultant for health issues. According to various apps and calculations I'm either 8 weeks or 7 weeks 4 days but she scanned me at 7 weeks 1 day which is a bit of a bummer as it puts me a week behind where I thought I might be but she's not concerned as I have an irregular cycle anyway. I saw a heart beat ❤️ and I'm being scanned again on the 9th May so can't wait to see the changes in 2 weeks 🙏 Might have to get my dating scan changed though as that was supposed to be on the 18th where I'll only be 10 weeks and 6 days 😬 won't change my due date on here yet though until I reach the 12 week scan.

Hope everyone is having a lovely day. I'm just about to go into work and will struggle to keep my mouth shut 😅

MrsCrumbtious · 22/04/2022 12:34

can anyone recommend some pregnancy podcasts? I’m trying my best not to doom scroll via Dr Google and thought that would be a perfect distraction.

id second the mc reassurance site it’s been comforting to see the odds of giving birth go up to 83% and as a ‘geriatric’ mum lol.

@Teaandbiscuits22 ive been freezing too! Took my DD to the park yesterday and was wearing a hoodie and thick coat while everyone else was in shorts and T-shirt’s 😂

Pinkfig · 22/04/2022 13:14

Thank you for all your responses ladies, I'm in tears just now, it's so nice to be able to talk to people that understand.

@stuntbubbles so nice to have a fellow 40 year old here x

We're not going to get an early scan. Found out at the 12 week scan that I lost my baby at almost 10 weeks last summer so an early scan wouldn't have made a difference to the outcome. We're going to get a nipt at 11 weeks so I'll get to see my baby then. I can only hope that this time its different.

@bbno2 i go on that website every few days it does reassure me.

I've stopped testing with my strips too as I'm afraid I'll start getting lighter lines due to the hook effect and it will set my mind racing. I do have one digital left so I may take that next week seeing the 3+ weeks will make me feel better.

STom2 · 22/04/2022 14:18

Hi @Pinkfig. Just wanted to say you're not alone in how you are feeling. My first pregnancy ended in MMC. My second gave me a now 17 month old son. When pregnant with my son I was a nervous wreck and very up and down emotionally until the 12 week scan. I was so nervous going in to the scan that the sonograher took 1 look at me when I walked in and said "oh my goodness you're a nervous wreck". I hadn't even opened my mouth at that point. Even now, despite having had a very healthy 2nd pregnancy (this is now my 3rd), I've still found myself googling symptoms (or lack thereof). What I do know is my symptoms last time absolutely fluctuated. Nausea didn't kick in until 8 weeks and even then came and went. As did breast tenderness. This time around I have no breast tenderness and dizziness that comes and goes. So I feel different. But if I've learned anything from Google (dangerous I know), it's that every pregnancy is different and symptoms can vary wildly, even amongst individuals who have been pregnant more than once.

When pregnant with my son I was active in 2 different MN groups. One for babies due in that particular month, like this one, and another for people pregnant after 1 or more losses. I actually found that second group invaluable as it was like an actual handhold right up until the day I gave birth. We all agonised over fluctuating symptoms, mysterious spotting, constant knicker checking, and other weird symptoms. I found (and still do), that the best thing for me in the early weeks is distraction. Whatever that might be for you (for me it was cleaning). But if you ever need a handhold there are lots of lovely supportive ladies on here. Just writing down how you are feeling can really help. xxx

Wanderlust16 · 22/04/2022 14:48

I just got my NHS appointment letter in for my booking appointment and scan. It all feels a bit realer today!

Nejnej2 · 22/04/2022 15:00

@Wanderlust16 Just had my booking telephone appointment today, then the face to face part next week (for height/weight/BP etc) - definitely feeling more real!
How long until your scan?

Wanderlust16 · 22/04/2022 15:07

Appointment is next week face to face then scan is two weeks time. We aren’t really sure how far gone we are due to really irregular cycles so looking forward to that!

Pinkfig · 22/04/2022 15:16

Thank you @STom2 for your thoughtful reply x I don't think the nerves will go away, I just need to manage it.

siobhanmt247 · 22/04/2022 15:48

This is my first after an mmc too. Trying to stay positive this time. There are some good mindfulness exercises for anxiety on youtube x

PandaOrLion · 22/04/2022 17:56

@MrsCrumbtious I liked “is it normal” which does a week by week update. I’ve listed to a few as I had a long drive yesterday and there is a good Irish one on Spotify with lots of doctors talking (you have to ignore the stuff about Irish hospitals though if you’re not in Ireland) but I can’t find it now

Sdoubleyou · 22/04/2022 18:04

Hi ladies, just catching up on messages and I'm practically in tears. It's really great to have a supportive group like this.

I tested positive for COVID yesterday morning and it's hit me really hard. I had a low fever for about 24 hours, headache, muscle pains, and a bunch of other symptoms. I'm 6+4 today and the fever only once went to 38C, so bebe should be ok. Clinic advised to take acetaminophen to keep fever down, rest and fluids. I took yesterday and today off to ride it out. I've been obviously really anxious about being sick while pregnant, especially since my last was an MMC. Just praying everything works out. Having an early scan next Friday so hopefully we'll be reassured.
