OH and I plan to buy as much from FB marketplace and charity shops as possible but I feel a little overwhelmed. How thick should their clothes be for a winter baby? How many layers? 🤯 I have so many questions!

siobhanmt247 · 21/04/2022 20:43

I've been checking my boobs a lot to see of they are sore yet lol and one noticed a lump that keeps coming and going. Is that normal? I googled it and it suggested I get it checked but it sounds normal in pregnancy?

baby2in2022 · 21/04/2022 21:18

@littlecontis I think the general rule is one layer more than us. The worse thing is for baby to be too hot. I remember my midwife saying to me if they're too cold they'll let you know if they're too warm they won't. The Tommytipee groegg is good to check the temperature of their room. I got a perfect prep for fiver off marketplace last time. It's been amazing

embob993 · 21/04/2022 21:18

@bbno2 I'm with you! I haven't felt nauseous today and it's already got me worried! 🙈 bring on the stage of having a ginormous bump and a kicker

BuchananBaby · 21/04/2022 21:23

@littlecontis it makes so much sense to buy 2nd hand, I buy bundles of clothes for DD in the next size up on ebay - she's a bum shuffler so she's always dirty 🤦‍♀️ can change her 3+ times a day 😂 also you can tell their temp by the back of their neck their hands and feet are generally colder so not a good indication of their temp

littlecontis · 21/04/2022 21:26

@baby2in2022 thank you! I went on marketplace and there are a few near me on sale for £5...now I'm tempted to get one!!

@BuchananBaby I'd love to get some bundles too! Can't wait to feel confident enough to start shopping for the little baby!! So do you do laundry everyday?

Jj19 · 21/04/2022 21:45

I think last time we bought a few cute outfits and a teddy after the 12 week scan. Then got everything else after the 20 week one.
Now we obviously have most things, we’ll probably go and choose a cute onesie together after the 12 week scan and then nothing until we figure out what we have and what we need probably in the summer when we have time.
There’s no right or wrong time though! Whatever feels best for you is the right time :)

BuchananBaby · 21/04/2022 21:51

@littlecontis I do probs 2x loads for my daughter every week but she's always got loads of stuff, I also shared some stuff between my mum and MIL so when they have DD we don't need to pack much. They're our childcare so she's there 3x per week

Wanderlust16 · 21/04/2022 22:11

Bit of an odd question but does anyone else get pain around their lower stomach when sneezing? Definitely still in the really scared to do anything that hurts the wee one phase! Also, how are folk managing at work? I had a decaf drink today and quite a few people commented that it wasn’t like me! Just wanting to keep everything quite until my scan in the 9th!

CW2211 · 21/04/2022 22:40

@Wanderlust16 not odd at all, I actually do get this sneezing pain too. It’s strange because I got it before I was pregnant sometimes if I was lying down and sneezed but it happened this morning in bed and was worse than it’s ever been. Like a really strong stabbing pain that goes away after a few seconds. It is scary but from what I’ve read it’s normal as your body is growing so anything can hurt to do that normally wouldn’t. I’m trying to not be so obvious at work so if I feel nauseous I’ll try to keep it to myself until it passes etc. totally understand not wanting to tell people until after the scan! Just try and make up a good excuse like you’re trying to cut down on certain things for a diet or felt too jittery or something so wanted decaf?? I’m sure you’ll manage to keep it on the down low until after the 9th! Good luck

Graceybaby · 22/04/2022 06:10

@bbno2 I literally have no symptoms, I haven't felt nauseous once yet, you don't need to worry it's perfectly normal, my pregnancy with my son was exactly the same 🙂 Literally the only time I feel pregnant is when I'm laying on my stomach in bed as it already feels a little uncomfortable!!

I get the sneezing pains too, but think its just all your muscles and ligaments that are contracting when you sneeze I'm sure little one is perfectly safe in there 💜

I've also started drinking de-caff at work and everyone has noticed too! We have a routine that the first person in the office makes the coffee so I had to keep sneakily taking mine back and remaking it! 😅 Now I have told them it's because I'm getting quite a few headaches so I'm cutting back on caffeine.. seems to have kept them quiet for now! I work in a very small office of like 4 people so we all know eachother inside and out, it's very hard keeping quiet!

xx

baby2in2022 · 22/04/2022 07:04

@Wanderlust16 I'd forgotten so much about my first pregnancy and it wasn't even that long ago but now you've mentioned it I remember the sneezing pain. I used to have to hold my stomach every time I sneezed. It was really painful.

Anyone else got the vivid dreams yet? My dreams last night were so real. Unfortunately they were pretty boring though x

HayleyBean · 22/04/2022 07:08

@Graceybaby I'm not going to be buying anything until at least 20 weeks, and then in going to hit black Friday HARD!!! It's our first so we have no idea what to buy tbh. I definitely want a next to me crib, a breast pump and a buggy that I can just click into the car. I've done no research into anything yet as it all feels quite dream like.

Caffeine wise I've cut down from 6-8 teas/coffees a day to 1 and now none, the migraine was awful. I told people at work it was better to cut down now whilst we were TTC then when I'm pregnant 👀 seems to have worked. Yorkshire tea decaff is pretty nice!

CW2211 · 22/04/2022 07:12

@baby2in2022 yes with the vivid dreams!! I get them quite often now but what’s really strange is that the night before I took my first faint positive pregnancy test I dreamt that I was feeling really nauseous and did a test in my dream which turned up positive…so when I woke up I did one and saw the faintest line! We weren’t even trying and I wasn’t really thinking that I was or anything so that was super weird but in a good way haha. Since then though I have had really vivid ones, one that I remember actually was I had two dreams in one night but in the second dream I remember writing about the first one I had (I like to note down my dreams if I remember) so that was like dreamception haha!

MissC07 · 22/04/2022 07:20

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining. I found out earlier this week that I'm pregnant after TTC for 17 months . I have PCOS so not exactly sure of dates but I think it's end of Dec! I’m still in shock and absolutely petrified! Silly Q but if I call the GP will they actually do anything this early? My digital says 3+

RSmamaa · 22/04/2022 07:21

@littlecontis they say one more layer than you. Definitely buy a pram suit and underneath I would just put a vest and sleepsuit on them. PLEASE remember that you need to take the coat off in the car though. No jackets or thick clothing should be worn but you can use a big blanket over them. They say to remove hats too but I didn't really use one as I had. March baby but I guess now I will 😆

RSmamaa · 22/04/2022 07:23

Also getting vivid dreams and random nightly wakes!

baby2in2022 · 22/04/2022 07:27

@CW2211 oh my god that's crazy. Definitely your subconscious knowing you were pregnant. Mine aren't exactly exciting dreams but they feel so real

@MissC07 congratulations, lovely news. It took me 14 months with my first. I remember thinking I would never be pregnant it took ages for it to feel real.
Usually you just register with the midwife. No need to call the gp. It depends where you live how it works. I rang the local midwife's this week. She rang back for basic details and will next see me at 10 weeks but is sending off the forms for my 12 week scan. I'm only around 5 weeks since my last period.

StarveInn · 22/04/2022 07:30

@MissC07 congratulations!
I would definitely contact your GP, even if just to find out what the process is for your area.

BuchananBaby · 22/04/2022 07:38

Oh the vivid dreams! I dreamt DD's baby dolls had come to life and they were trying to stop us taking DD out the house 😳 think I'll need to throw them out it definitely creeped me out 🙈😂

MissC07 · 22/04/2022 07:38

@baby2in2022 @StarveInn thank you both so much. I’m absolutely clueless on the process so will call the GP this morning just to see what I need to do! Still hasn’t really sunk in!

Pinkfig · 22/04/2022 07:45

Starting to get a bad feeling ladies. I basically have zero symptoms just a bit of cramping every now and then. I don't feel remotely pregnant. I am 5+3. Had sore boobs tail end of last week but they've gone now.

Had a nightmare last night that I went for scan and there was no heartbeat. I'm really struggling with keeping up my positive energy since my mmc last august and have a constant knit of fear in my tummy. I'm 40 as well so I feel like this is my last chance.

baby2in2022 · 22/04/2022 07:53

@Pinkfig sorry to hear about your loss. Early pregnancy is such an anxious time and must be even worse following a loss.
If it helps at all I'm also around 5w3 and I have no symptoms either really. With my first healthy pregnancy I had cramps like you at this stage but this time nothing.
Xx

stuntbubbles · 22/04/2022 08:15

@Pinkfig I’m 40 too – it adds a whole layer of stress, doesn’t it? I feel like the Super Mario sped-up-end-of-episode music is playing at all times. Also terrifically anxious after a loss last December and can’t stop POAS and comparing lines.

I don’t have any cramps at all, just horrific nausea. My tummy doesn’t “feel” pregnant. I think all we can do is trust that the line didn’t lie, we’re pregnant right now, and every pregnancy is different – we won’t all cramp, we won’t all puke, and short of attachment a permascan or a camera in our belly buttons, we can’t know what’s going on in there. But the odds of successful pregnancy are still more in our favour than not!

Tofu35 · 22/04/2022 09:00

I don't know if any of you used to play the Sims, but I had a vivid dream last night that I had my baby and kept leaving it on the ground (like in the Sims). So I'd go to Tesco, look down and there's the baby swaddled and face down in the fruit aisle. I'd go in the shower, there's the swaddled baby in the ground next to the sink.

Totally normal, right? 😅
