Well I'm in A&E again as my doctors' surgery runs ridiculous hours and you can only get an appointment if the moon if full and the wind is blowing in a south-northerly direction. I digress. Sent via 111 clinician as I have the most horrendous headache that won't shift. The (male, not sure if relevant) was lovely and told me he'll go to my work himself to tell them I need to rest (my boss is a prick). And now the wait.

Bramblecrumble21 · 24/05/2022 21:25

@TFMinx hope you feel better soon! And the headache is not a sign of anything too serious. It's horrible not being able to take much painkillers.

When I got my bfp I planted some pumpkin seeds with my DD, as an analogy for pregnancy. Pumpkin should be ready around the birth. Well today it's flowered and supposedly 2nd trimester is for blooming.

Hope your headache shifts soon @TFMinx
What a lovely idea @Bramblecrumble21
Is anyone else feeling very moody at the moment? One minute I’m sobbing at long lost family and the next I’m cross at my OH because of the slightest thing.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 25/05/2022 03:36

That's so lovely @Bramblecrumble21 !

We're all sick. Not covid, some other cold/virus. Just as I was feeling better enough to get back on top of things, now I'm knocked out again. Dh and 3/4 kids too so far. 😭🤧😴

TFMinx · 25/05/2022 11:39

Thank you. Turns out I have quite a bad UTI and have been given some antibiotics. Taken the day off today to rest and let the antibiotics begin to do their thing. Everyone I saw in A&E were wonderful; I really cannot praise them highly enough

ChasingRainbows22 · 25/05/2022 21:46

Love that idea @Bramblecrumble21 wish I'd thought of something like that! Glad you got the help you needed @TFMinx it's such a relief when you're well looked after.

Anyone else still getting cramps? I haven't had any for weeks but I've had lower back pain (which is where I get period pains) for the last day or so, nothing debilitating just an ache really but any kind of change freaks me out!

sarahj878 · 25/05/2022 22:12

@ChasingRainbows22 i’m getting the occasional cramp too, but I’m thinking it’s mainly digestive related and have terrible indigestion so that may not be helping

Novella12 · 26/05/2022 06:41

Mornings everyone! Just wondering if anyone else is worrying about their iron levels? I had my 16 week app yesterday and the midwife said my levels were 115 and they want them to be over 110 so all good (I'm assuming this was from the booking bloods) BUT this seems quite close to the cut off for me and I'm veggie. I have been feeling extremely tired. Is anyone taking a supplement?

roobearbaby · 26/05/2022 15:47

Hi Novella, I actually had the same concern to the point I went to the GP. she actually told me not to worry too much about it and that the symptoms I was getting are normal. We have blood tests so regularly when pregnant anything wrong will get picked up. She did say it never hurts to eat iron rich food which is what I have been doing.

roobearbaby · 26/05/2022 15:48

@mumof1boy2022 you cant be removed from Mumsnet threads. You can unfollow/hide the tread though.

Novella12 · 26/05/2022 17:13

@roobearbaby thanks for sharing! That has put my mind at rest. I'll up the spinach intake though 😉

roobearbaby · 26/05/2022 19:12

I'm really starting to feel a bit of movement now. It's such a strange feeling. Feels like my insides are vibrating...it's so wonderful ❤️❤️

sarahj878 · 26/05/2022 20:40

@roobearbaby aw that’s lovely, when did you start to feel movements?

roobearbaby · 26/05/2022 21:40

@sarahj878 only for the last couple of days. I thought it was gas originally but nothing came of it (if you get my drift) but today it's really prominent! I'm 15+3 so thought it would be too early but it is definitely there.

AbbiL0u · 26/05/2022 21:53

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all okay, I’ve had a funny week, have thrush at the moment and just had some pink bleeding/discharge but midwife thinks it’s just thrush related. Still worrying! :(

How is everyone showing at the moment? I sometimes have a clear bump at the bottom which hard, but then it goes away and my belly looks almost flat (laying down), is this normal and happening to anyone else? It’s bizarre!!

Cocobeau · 27/05/2022 11:05

aaww @roobearbaby that's so lovely. It must be a nice bit of reassurance to feel them moving around in there. I'm excited for that.

@AbbiL0u I'm similar to you. Sometimes I think I can feel a hard lump and other times it just feels squishy. Someone did point out to me on here that emptying my bladder probably moved things around a bit so I felt less. I think I'm starting to see a bit of a bump, but it could just be those snacks I'm getting through.

Bramblecrumble21 · 27/05/2022 12:05

Iron- last pregnancy I took folic acid and vit d, and the occasional pregnecare. I did have an aneimic blood test twice. Once near the end, I was prescribed tablets, then another a week after giving birth, as I stopped taking then when I went into labour. So this time round I've been proactive and taken iron tablets. However, I don't take them daily, maybe every other day, sometimes a gap if I'm feeling bloated/constipated. As I have a range of vitamin tablets on Monday for my 16 week appointment I asked what I should be taking. Midwife said pregnecare...I took the supermarket version (14mg instead of 17mg of iron) two or three days in a row and have felt so uncomfortable and bloated I am giving it a rest. I now have a while until my next appointment.

Bump showing- on my bloated days I get comments about a visable bump. I've started a routine of lying on my back when I wake up for a few minutes and feeling the bump, sort of connecting to it. I've read about talking to the bump, to develop bond but that would feel kind of fake and silly to me personally. It's been there a few weeks and this morning, was on the right. Movements, I felt a few weeks ago as flicks and a buzz a week before that, but nothing since. I am excited for movement and then I start rember who creepy I found it last time and stop thinking about it.

FishyBaby · 27/05/2022 19:28

Hi All,
I've been lurking for a while until we've shared the news but I think I fit into this thread with a due date of 18th November. It's our first and there are so many things I'm not sure about but finding my way!

On the topic of bumps - I'm still debating whether I have an allround bump or if it's just podge. I'm hoping it's podge and that the bump might look a bit more flattering!

sarahj878 · 27/05/2022 20:09

Welcome to the thread @FishyBaby

Is anyone else starting to suffer massive headaches? I’ve got horrendous headaches which started two days ago. Had tiredness and nausea before this which seem to be better but headaches have come on in second trimester.

Whats everyone’s cravings? Mine are fizzy drinks and sushi, the latter of which I obviously can’t have.

Cruz86 · 27/05/2022 20:25

Yeah I've been having daily headaches for a couple of weeks now @sarahj878. It's so annoying!! My cravings change daily 😂 but I do need to have a fizzy drink around lunchtime every day.

sarahj878 · 27/05/2022 20:41

@Cruz86 they’re horrible aren’t they! I’m finding night time is the worst, fall asleep with a headache and then wake up with one in middle of night for a bit. Haha the fizzy drink one is a new craving on me. The only one that’s been pretty constant is any kind of fruit, am getting through so much in a day!

Bramblecrumble21 · 27/05/2022 22:04

@sarahj878 I had daily headaches from about 10-14 weeks. First they started off with covid and, except for the first day were not bad. Then they got more migraniny and I think more related to pregnancy than virus. Now I'm 16 weeks and after a break from headaches they're back but came same time as a cold.

No cravings really.

Cocobeau · 28/05/2022 08:03

@sarahj878 yes! The headaches this week have been awful and start before I’m even properly awake. I do suffer with regular headaches and migraines normally so I’m finding it really hard to not just take decent painkillers like I normally would.
congrats @FishyBaby we have the same due date 🤗im also having the same bump/no bump thing. Currently I think mine is just my little bit of podge but. I’m sure we will balloon out to proper bump soon!

Pamctake2 · 28/05/2022 22:49

@FishyBaby I definitely think the start of the 2nd trimester isn't the cute bump stage as it's just forming but by the end of the trimester it kinda rounds out 🥰

@sarahj878 not sure if it's a craving but I keep making myself ham salad sandwiches with crisps, never really ate them before but really fancy them at the moment 😋 also if you fancy sushi could you just go for one with either cooked fish or no fish or is it just the raw fish you fancy?

@Novella12 when I remember I take an iron supplement because I got prescribed them towards the end of my last pregnancy so thought why not, no idea what my levels are now so may be completely unnecessary although I don't eat a lot of high iron foods so I wouldn't be suprised if they were low x

NotAdultingToday · 29/05/2022 07:12

I have not been on mumsnet for ages! Mental week! I have missed loads
@LEBee92 @sarahj878 i wore my Love leggings work trouser/leggings to work on friday and they were so comfy! I am so happy with them thank you for recommending 😊

@FishyBaby we are due date twins 😊

I have been getting headaches alot recently mostly its the minute i walk into work 😂 as it is very stressful at the moment!
Its hard because i get it on the same side that my migraines start and normally i need
co-codamol to stop it turning into one but with just paracetamol the headache is just lasting forever!
I dont know if anyone has tried/recommended but 4head is very good i have used it since my last pregnancy. If you get it on Amazon and subscribe to regular deliveries (you can cancel super easily!) it works out cheaper than in the shops
