So I know this is super super early, but I wanted to start a thread going for us ladies with December due dates. I had a mc during my first pregnancy in January so I'm nervous about everything, but also excited! I'm 4 weeks pregnant Sunday and my test lines have been fairly strong 🙏 I have a sensitive sense of smell and my nipples are sore (but I'm embracing every symptom I get!)

@TripleMMM hey! We've got a new thread now as we thought this one was filling up! I'll tag you over there in a minute!

As to the first midwife appointment, it may vary depending on where you are, but at both my previous ones, they go through your green notes with you.
Green notes are what you'll be given to carry with you at all times during your pregnancy and will need to take to every pregnancy related appointment, some people get them at the 8 week appointment, but I've always been given mine after the 12 week scan.

They will ask you a lot about your medical history and family medical history too. Some of the other questions can seem rather invasive, but the main reason for this first appointment is to identify people that may need extra medical, physical or emotional help during their pregnancy and after birth. For example, I was asked a lot about my current mental health as I have dealt with depression in the past and it runs in my family.
They'll also ask about any previous pregnancies, births, or miscarriages to get an idea if you're high risk or low risk. I had a large bleed following my DD birth, so my pregnancy was deemed low risk but high risk delivery for DS.
They will most likely take bloods and a urine sample as well to check for a number of things, I can't remember exactly what though.

You won't hear the heartbeat at this appointment as it's still so tiny they don't like to panic people if it's not heard as usually doesn't mean anything is wrong just that it's too small to hear.

I hope that helps 😊
