@Vimto1991 I get the impression that they are only really worried if it goes undetected in trimester 3, so comfortable that they'll pick it up at 28 week appointment and treatment starting then will prevent the risks ♥️ let us know how you get on with GP but don't worry if you need to wait until Friday xxx

MrsNT · 13/03/2022 10:32

@babyno21990 i havent packed yet im 26 weeks. Ill b making a trip to primark to pick up some long tshirts and loose pyjamas/trousers for hospital

@MrsNT I don't have kids but I worked as a minder for three years in two different families. One used pampers and the other one used to buy aldi nappies and I could not see any difference. I think I'll go for the aldi ones as it is where we mainly do the shopping.

Flowerbug1994 · 13/03/2022 11:07

Morning ladies this may sound like a strange one to ask 😂😂 I feel like most of my movements have been very low down but at different points throughout the day especially when sitting on lying I get movements up high that feel like muscles rolling am wondering is this baby movements or are they actually muscles moving sorry if this sounds stupid they just feel so muscular 😂😂

annie1994 · 13/03/2022 11:37

@MrsNT we’ve used Aldi nappies the whole time for my 18mo boy and genuinely haven’t had any problems! They very rarely leak and when they do it’s normally because my little boy has been wriggling about during nappy change so we don’t put it on right! Nice and cheap as well. Will def use them for this baby as well!

pansytub · 13/03/2022 13:19

@MrsNT I had a load of trouble with leaky nappies for my almost 2 year old and personally found Asda worked best for him. I think in general any of the supermarket ones are fine and branded certainly no better and if you are suffering with leaks it's worth trying a few different brands and sizes so figure out what suits the shape of your baby best at that time

PeeAche2 · 13/03/2022 14:25

@Flowerbug1994 So, my little girl is transverse due to my low lying placenta and I therefore feel her movements at each side. I also experience great discomfort when she stretches.

Sometimes she will turn around and spend some time head down or breech. She often doesn't stay that way for long. But when she is, the kicks change. I feel them low in my pelvis - practically in my cervix (reminds me of the feeling of a menstrual cup unfolding, if you know this feeling yourself) and high up near my rib cage. It feels then like my muscles are spasming.

Because of her being transverse, I have been able to get into the "mapping" thing early. Which is just about the only upside.

She's currently sitting breech. I can feel her head like a bowling ball at the top. One of her hands is out right and her feet are drumming my cervix. I don't know where her other hand is, but she's been sucking her thumb at my last 2 scans, so I can probably make an educated guess.

I had my midwife try to confirm her position at my 24 week appointment and I was correct so I feel fairly confident in my skillz. 😌 (the midwives do it through feel)

So, to answer your question, I believe what you are feeling are baby movements. They match my own when she is either breech or head down.

Flowerbug1994 · 13/03/2022 18:07

@PeeAche2 that is amazing how in tune you are with her it’s getting abit easier to feel for bits. Am getting to the point where I can give him a poke or a giggle and get a movement back. I need to have growth scans because he was measuring big at 20 weeks so hopefully I’ll get a good sense of where he is then. Breeches babies scare the life out of me I think I would go straight for c section.

PeeAche2 · 13/03/2022 21:42

Yesterday I hadn't felt her move for hours and hours and I was a bit nervous.

Then I... Ahem, broke wind and she had a good old boogie.

Not sure if that happens to anyone else. 😅

CurryandSnuggle · 13/03/2022 21:43

@MrsNT
I agree that branded isn’t better, we used asda and found them very good. However I have also heard that Aldi is supposed to be the best on the market for majority of people, and cheap! But we don’t have an Aldi near us unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for info re: classes. I’ve got NHS breastfeeding class at end of April but might sign up for hypnobirthing.

I’ve just ordered 4 nursing/maternity dresses and 2 nursing bras. Fingers crossed they fit ok. I just need the weather to warm up now to justify my spending hahaha, but I thought it was only a matter of time!!

Octoblockisadick · 13/03/2022 21:47

@MrsNT I used aldi at first, but found when we got to size 4ish they started leaking so switched to lidl which have been fine. Asda are alright too, but very narrow I'm the bum so no good for my daughter as her bum is too big haha. I've heard good things about the tesco ones but never tried them personally.

@PeeAche2 that's amazing that you can feel so much! Sometimes I can determine his position, but I think he has moved into a weird position in the last week or so as I'm finding it harder now. Definitely got a bum or head (I think bum) to the left of my belly button at the minute though. It's making my stomach very lopsided looking!

@Flowerbug1994 agreed with breech being scary! I think personally I would have a section if breech, I really don't like the sound of ECV, it sounds painful! And a vaginal breech birth scares me a little with me going for vbac.

MrsNT · 13/03/2022 21:48

Thankyou to the ladies who mentioned honest midwife. Just checkedher out and have signed up for her free yoga and other free classes.

Can i ask if anyone is tracking their weight? Compared to start of preg till date how much have you gained (dont worry not asking for final weight just the difference between the two 😂)

OP posts:
Lostintranslatio · 13/03/2022 22:02

@MrsNT I'm 24+4 and so far I'm 5kg above my pre-pregnancy weight. I dunno where the kgs are as my bump is not very big 😅

MrsTwentyNine · 13/03/2022 22:49

@MrsNT 10kg gained and I'm 26+4 🙈

beansprout55 · 13/03/2022 23:10

8kg and I'm 25 weeks. I put on a stone by the time I entered my second tri, so I've been trying to be careful (ish) since then!
I never used to eat breakfast and I generally have a really good diet, so I was surprised at how quickly I put on weight by just adding a meal a day. I guess I'm not being as active either.

PleaseSendNoodles · 13/03/2022 23:24

I’m 26 weeks and have gained 14lbs / 1st / 6.3kg. I started on the low end of ‘normal’ and was told 25-35lbs would be the optimal weight gain by 40 weeks. Trying not to obsess over it but… I kind of do.

singlemoma34 · 14/03/2022 00:33

I have gained about 8.5kg already 😑 I'm 26w3d. Mostly gained in the last 3-4 weeks!

Prema112 · 14/03/2022 06:48

I've gained 9.5kg and I'm 28 weeks

Turniptracker · 14/03/2022 07:34

Is anyone else finding themselves getting easily exhausted again like in the first trimester? I've had to concede to a nap a few days last week. I also saw a private chiropractor at the weekend who confirmed PGP and did some nice adjustments which have enabled me to walk again, albeit slowly and tentatively, so feeling a bit more positive now.

fpeg · 14/03/2022 07:35

So I weigh myself once a week, at 28 weeks I've gained 2.4kg from my pre pregnancy weight, but I lost a few kg in first tri. When you take into account regaining the weight loss I've managed to gain 5.8kg.

fpeg · 14/03/2022 07:37

@Turniptracker yep definitely starting to feel more tired again, still not anywhere near as bad as first trimester though! I've had a few very active days recently and found they really wiped me out.

pregnancydiaries · 14/03/2022 07:45

Same as @fpeg, I lost weight in early days with sickness so have gained 8kg from early pregnancy weight or 4kg from pre pregnancy weight xx

PeeAche2 · 14/03/2022 07:56

25 + 3 and I've gained nothing on my pre-pregnancy weight. I lower than my starting weight by about 13kg

I lost 20kg due to Hyperemesis, but I have gained around 7kg since week 18 so I'm piling it back on now!!

Turniptracker · 14/03/2022 08:22

I'm 27 weeks tomoz and have gained 6kg

PeeAche2 · 14/03/2022 08:44

Went to the pub on Saturday for lunch with a group of friends and all the kids. Kids were off playing on the park and we were talking pregnancy. I explained about my placenta and the no sex rule and almost everyone at the table (except 1 man who is divorced from the mother of his children) were shocked (and in some cases a little disgusted) that husband and I are still sexually active.

Even the men said they didn't want to touch their wives while pregnant. Women said it was disgusting.

I was left feeling like a freak. Is this just my prudish circle or do most couples feel this way?
