@annie1994 we share due date! I am also due on the 29th!

Rolledthedice · 14/02/2022 13:29

Welcome @annie1994 and @BuffyFanForever! 😊

I love your username BuffyFan - I’m also a big fan of the Scooby gang! 😄

BunBun221 · 14/02/2022 13:51

My last midwife appointment was at 16 weeks and my schedule says I'm not due another one until 28 weeks - that seems like a long time between appointments! (I'm not overly worried as I saw a consultant today - 21 weeks - but I'm now not seeing the consultant until 28 weeks either). 12 weeks seems like a long time between midwife appointments and I'm wondering if its just a 'my trust' thing or if that's the same for everyone?

I'm sceptical of most things I'm told at the minute by my midwife as a number of things have been wrong with my care so far so good to know what's happening elsewhere so I have some context

Clueless22 · 14/02/2022 14:29

Hi @BunBun221 I was originally booked in for my next midwife appointment at 28 weeks but turned out as its my first baby I should be seeing her again at 24 weeks so I rescheduled. I only realised when I called her about the MatB1 form that it hadn't been booked correctly.

4thtimethecharm · 14/02/2022 14:59

@BunBun221, I am a FTM and seeing my midwife at 24 weeks again.

On a different note (and this is going to make me sound like a , but it's a genuine concern!), is anyone struggling to gain weight? My baby is already measuring quite small (15th centile), and I realised I have hardly gained weight (1.5 kg since start of pregnancy). I am really, really trying to eat healthy-ish and a good amount, but for some reason it is not 'sticking'. We already eat everything full fat, like milk, Greek yoghurt, proper butter, etc. Plenty of protein and carbs, too. Three meals a day, but could up the snacks a little (usually rice crackers with peanut butter). I eat until I am fully satisfied.

Anyone else struggling to 'fatten up'? I would hate if this is a contributing factor to baby staying so small, so am trying to get back on the curve and gain at least a bit more in the coming weeks.

BuffyFanForever · 14/02/2022 15:04

Thanks @Rolledthedice I bought a new sofa yesterday and it was called “Xander” lol made me smile.

@4thtimethecharm I lost a lot of weight in my last pregnancy due to severe hyperemisis. It was never an issue for the health of the babies except the dehydration. So don’t worry. The babies get what they need themselves! This time I’ve got meds so I’ve gained loads 😳

Jammymare · 14/02/2022 15:09

Thanks for starting a new thread!
I’m 23+4 and feeling rather sorry for myself today. On Friday I had some period type pains all morning that didn’t ease with paracetamol, so my midwife asked me to go into the hospital for monitoring. Let my boss know I needed to finish early and why, had a brief message to say no problem and have heard nothing from work since.
We are working from home but I can see my boss is online, just feel so unsupported at the moment, and probably being hormonal and unreasonable expecting a message to ask how I am? Sat here looking at the 576 emails in my inbox with a hot water bottle to help my backache and seriously considering bringing my mat leave forwards because I am so done with all the work stress and getting bugger all thanks.
(Baby was fine, they did a swab to check for premature labour just to be on the safe side and put it down to growing pains/pulled muscle, was discharged by 6pm)

mrkb · 14/02/2022 15:24

@BunBun221 @Clueless22 @4thtimethecharm I've only just realised reading your posts that I don't have another appointment until 28 weeks. I looked on the nhs website and it says we should have one at 25 weeks if this is a first pregnancy but I just contacted my midwife team and they said that they don't offer routine 25 week appointments. Does anyone know where we stand here? I actually haven't met my midwife at all yet - my booking appointment was with another midwife as mine was off, and my 16 week appointment was via the phone. My care has also been pretty unsatisfactory (I actually made a complaint to PALS at the start of the year due to this) so, for better or worse, worry a bit about the information I'm given by my midwife team.

4thtimethecharm · 14/02/2022 17:03

@mrkb, I had a terrible midwife last time around, who quit her job and told none of her clients. So for weeks, no messages or calls were getting answered, and I did not know to ask who the replacement was. I am much more on it this time around, as I did not know she had left. I don't know if there is anything more you can do than ask. I would point out that you have not been seen by your midwife in person for ages, and you have lots of questions and concerns.

4thtimethecharm · 14/02/2022 17:06

@BuffyFanForever, I am happy it didn't affect baby. But it must have been really tricky for you personally, though. I hope this pregnancy is a bit easier on your body?

I guess I am just quite anxious about baby's size, having lost a baby previously to a failing placenta. I just want to make sure I am doing everything I humanly can, to prevent it from happening again.

annie1994 · 14/02/2022 17:07

@Lostintranslatio hello due date buddy 😊

I thought all first pregnancies had to be seen at 25 weeks. Then it’s every 3 weeks after that. Surely you should at least get a phone call at 25 weeks!?

This is my second pregnancy but because of complications in my first labour I will be seeing my midwife at 25 weeks (well 24 weeks as she is on holiday the week after)

Prema112 · 14/02/2022 17:31

@Jammymare Sorry to hear about your period type pains that must have been worrying so glad to hear baby is ok!

EarlGreywithLemon · 14/02/2022 17:40

@beansprout55, @Letsbekindplease here are some of the exercises she set me. I picked some of the later ones, as early on it was really basic- my pelvic floor was a wreck and I couldn’t feel anything!
To be done both lying down and standing: Insolate the urethra - pinch and release x 10, taking time to relax each one fully. Then Pinch and tighten the urethra like you are doing a zip up in 3 stages, then unzip in 3 stages, relax, repeat x 10.
Do the same for the vagina and back passage.

Hope that makes sense!

MrsTwentyNine · 14/02/2022 19:36

@Vimto1991

Welcome *@annie1994 and @BuffyFanForever* we certainly are a talkative bunch! 🙈

Has anyone felt a bubbling sensation in their stomach? Feels like the babies blowing bubbles or farting in there 😅 no idea what they’re doing. It’s pretty fast bubbles so don’t think hiccups although I did read maybe thumb sucking.

I thought their kicks are meant to feel like bubbles at this stage? I've been putting down all my bubble type feelings to kicks anyway haha
Prema112 · 14/02/2022 19:43

Thanks ladies for your replies on movement. I've heard different things about regular movement from 24 weeks and/or from 28 weeks so feel like the time inbetween is a bit unclear

@JAR1981 thanks I'd be interested to hear what she says

Octoblockisadick · 14/02/2022 20:28

@Prema112 @Vimto1991 with you on the bra front! I was a 32dd pre pregnancy, got measured last weekend and I'm currently wearing a 34f. Struggling to find a style that works too, anything plunge or balconette on style seems to either give me quad boobs or gape massively, no in between. So I'm now wearing a full cup which feels so odd, really high up which I'm not used to.

I also feel like my stomach has grown a lot in the last week or so, definitely into maternity clothes now!

Vimto1991 · 14/02/2022 20:31

@MrsTwentyNine I’m 23+5 so I feel full on kicks at the moment, just the past two days I’ve been feeling little bubbles along with kicks. Wish I could see what they’re doing!

@Octoblockisadick honestly I went with maternity/nursing bra and it’s soooo comfy. Each to their own but I couldn’t wear wired at the moment 😂 I can even sleep in these.

Octoblockisadick · 14/02/2022 20:35

@Vimto1991 I've gone for a non wired soft cup style and it feels so strange. I'm so used to wired!

I keep feeling what I presume are rolls too? Where rather than a little prod, there's a feeling like they are completely changing sides. Not sure though!
He is breech currently I think though, all kicks are always in my left hip. At my scan they said his feet were "wedged" down there, so I hope he moves!

Vimto1991 · 14/02/2022 20:38

@Octoblockisadick awww! 🥰 they will move quite often from what I’ve read as I was worried mine was breached, I seem to get kicks really really low down, but as they get bigger they’ll turn the correct way (hopefully!), but quite common to be breach at this stage. I’ve not felt kicks above but then again I have an anterior placenta so not sure when I would.

needarainbow · 14/02/2022 21:03

@BuffyFanForever Welcome! We are due date twins 😊

I've been so excited today! 22+1 with an anterior placenta and I have finally today felt a kick for the first time 🎉🎉 I was lying on my stomach to be fair but still very exciting! I can't wait to start feeling things a bit more regularly.

Vimto1991 · 14/02/2022 21:09

Oh also! I bought a sweet dreamers deluxe Ewan the sheep. I put it on my belly with the sound on and baby moved with the sound 🥺🥺 so precious. Apparently it can get them used to the sounds to calm them once they’re born!

MrsTwentyNine · 14/02/2022 21:50

Oh @Vimto1991 how exciting! I'm 23 on Wednesday...when did you know exactly what's a kick? I think I know but there's so many different versions each day I can't tell what a kick is and what him just swimming around is 😂

Vimto1991 · 14/02/2022 21:54

@MrsTwentyNine going to sound weird and obvious but… you’ll just know! My stomach actually moves out with a kick and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever felt before! They’re quite strong and the best way to describe them are they are like getting muscle spasms. I felt the bubbles quite early on, I think this baby is definitley a wriggler. 😂🙈 I think it really depends where your placenta is is the extent of the kicks until they’re a bit bigger. :)

PleaseSendNoodles · 14/02/2022 22:07

Oooh wow! I’m late to the new thread! Thanks @Annabell1

I have so much reading to do after a long weekend offline. Just marking my place for tomorrow!

Annabell1 · 14/02/2022 22:43

Welcome @BuffyFanForever @annie1994 😊
I had my second anomaly scan today and all looks good. My placenta moved up and she is growing perfectly. Yey. And we saw her yawning, which was soo sweet. 🥰

I think my favourite pram is also the Uppababy Cruz, although I haven't properly tested it yet. Guess I will need an appointment at John Lewis or so.
