Hi all,

I've just had my BFP and am due early October 2022, for my first baby I joined a group on here for people all due the same month so thought I'd start one this time round - early days I know but nice to speak to people in the same boat! 🙂

I'm 31 and have a DD who is 16 months.

Is anyone else due in October? How are you feeling?

It's so exciting there's so many of us already 😁. Congratulations everyone.

@Aubyone this is my second and I'm absolutely winging the motherhood thing 😂 as long as they go to sleep full and relatively happy it's a good day!

I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and felt awful when I first found out was really tired and nauseous but that seems to have calmed but the night sweats and headaches have kicked in and are way worse.

My MIL keeps suggesting twins but I think poor DP would cry 😂

Edmarie · 26/01/2022 21:07

@Aubyone I haven’t told my partner yet either! He’s away with work but back tomorrow night. I haven’t figured out how to tell him yet, but just didn’t want to do it over the phone. It’s been the longest few days waiting to break the news!
Sounds like you’ve planned a lovely way to tell your husband, I hope you manage to wait till you see him!

Aubyone · 26/01/2022 21:57

Eee @Edmarie - enjoy telling him!

I will definitely be able to resist telling him on phone but I suspect he might ask if I've come on my period while we're driving home so I might have to blow it off with something vague about not knowing when I'm due/ovulation being off because I really don't want to tell him in the airport car park or while driving! I hope i'm not a spotty vomiting mess by then and he doesn't guess til we get home! (I'm half joking but ngl I am also genuinely fearful of the nausea - I have a really weak stomach and so many horrible memories/experience of severe travel sickness that I'm kind of assuming it's going to be really bad for me, but then also know I need to not predict things before they happen - I might get off easy!).

GillianB2990 · 26/01/2022 22:01

I got my BFP on Friday, and if my calculations are right I'm 4weeks and 5 days pregnant, due early October! We're both 31 and have a 14yr old girl and a 5yr old boy. We haven't told anyone yet apart from our daughter and I'm dying to shout it from the roof tops. We have a private early scan booked for when I'm 8 weeks so we'll tell our parents and little boy after that and then midwife the following week and all the rest of our family and friends will find out after our 12 week scan.

Leibee87 · 26/01/2022 23:02

Congratulations. I told my best friend but we weren't going to tell anyone else until a scan but my mum guessed today and I went bright red and couldn't lie DH was a bit annoyed as he had this whole thing planned in his head. But he can do that thing for his parents so not the end of the world.

Sounds like a nice way to tell your husband @Edmarie.

Hope you find a nice way to tell your husband @Aubyone.

hannknitted · 27/01/2022 07:18

Hello 😊

I think I might join you all if that’s ok. Same as @BuchananBabies I was hanging with the September ladies - my LMP would put my due date at the end of Sept - but my cycle was particularly long and having done some reading about adjusting the date for long cycles (I’m no expert!) I suspect I’ll actually be due beginning of Oct. Think I might book an early scan to try and confirm when I’m past 8 weeks. Either way, I felt very far behind the Sept ladies!

At the minute I think I’m just around 4+4.

This is baby number 2 for me, we have a wee boy already who is 3.5.

I’ve had some quite persistent aching / cramping the past few days but it’s eased off for now and I’ve not really had many other symptoms so far - very similar to last time.

Hope everyone is well. 😊

BecLJ · 27/01/2022 09:45

@Edmarie and @Aubyone enjoy telling your husbands! I thought about telling mine in a special way but ended up telling him as soon as the test was done!

Congratulations to everyone else who has joined the group. Definitely understand the feeling of being cautious. Its quite an anxious time, especially when not many people know and its before the antenatal care starts.

Just a recommendation - I found the Bounty app really useful (and have just got it again). It shows what is happening week by week - with the baby and you. And also good for money off things/vouchers in the future.

@BecLJ thanks for the app recommendation!

I was going to ask actually - has anyone got any good book recommendations, including something for partners?

I really want my fella to read up so he's not massively shocked! I have 2 sisters who have 5 kids between them, but my partner seems a little bit clueless :)

Thanks in advance!

Leibee87 · 27/01/2022 10:15

Yeah my dh found out straight after I did the test too even though I had such a good way to tell him. I was going to buy a mug that said we're pregnant on the bottom so once he had his morning tea he'd know but never mind. Going to get my sis a card that says promoted to Auntie with a scan pic. There is so much stuff on etsy.

@Edmarie can't recommend anything but seen some stuff on amazon.

hannknitted · 27/01/2022 10:27

@Edmarie not a book, and more about preparing for birth than parenting (imo, books aren’t much use for that, and that’s coming from an English teacher - I bought myself a few, and husband one, but you’re so bloody tired you’re never going to sit and read it cover to cover, and I just found google / my online mum support group from mumsnet far more useful / quick whenever I came up against a question of any sort!) - but last time the one thing my husband said he found most helpful was an online course we did by the Positive Birth Company. We did it together.

It’s a hypnobirthing course, which sounds very airy-fairy and I was unsure because that’s not my cup of tea, but honestly it was SO helpful for both me and him. He especially said that the biggest thing he was worrying about was how to be a birth partner and what he could actually DO to be helpful rather than just standing there like a spare part, and the course really helped him to see his role, helped me to stay calm during it all, and make good decisions.

The course cost about £30 if I remember rightly but was worth every penny.

Edmarie · 27/01/2022 10:34

Thank you @hannknitted ! That's really useful :)

BecLJ · 27/01/2022 10:34

@hannknitted oh I had a Hypnobirthing book from the Positive Birth Company but admit I didn't read much of it. I might look into that course this time Smile

hannknitted · 27/01/2022 11:49

@BecLJ Yep, it’s about the only time in life I’d say “don’t bother with the book” 😂 It’s not exactly riveting stuff to read and you’re too tired as well.

The online course is just a series of videos that you just watch at your own pace - it was actually quite a nice thing for us to do together in the lead up to the birth I found!

5manc · 27/01/2022 11:52

Hi everyone and congratulations on all the new bfp joiners! ✨😘

Went to my appointment this morning and as predicted was way too early and have had to book to go back at 8 weeks. The receptionist must be new as he'd only booked it for 20 mins aswell but thankfully meant I wasn't wasting too much of the midwife's time! It was useful though as she still gave me all the documents and it was a chance to ask questions 😊

@BecLJ I'll have a look at the bounty app - thank you for the recommendation!

@hannknitted that course sounds really good too so will defo keep that in mind!

How is everyone doing? X

Aubyone · 27/01/2022 20:27

I realise this will be different for everyone but those who have been pregnant before - would you have felt able to go on a 10 day holiday at 13-14 weeks? We have a hol to a a European country booked in April - should still be nice and cool at that time - but I don't know if I am being naively optimistic to think it'll be fine? I guess we'll just see how I'm feeling nearer the time - I can cancel and get refund on accommodation and activities but not flights, but if I make my mind up soon I can perhaps move the flights to a later date... I am so anxious about sickness, but I need to just take it one day at a time (currently no symptoms really but am only 4 weeks).

BecLJ · 27/01/2022 20:35

@5manc at least you've got another booked for the right time, that must be reassuring Smile

@Aubyone I personally found the second trimester the easiest (less sickness and no bump) but as you say everyone is different. My last pregnancy I went on holiday when I was 9 weeks and did feel quite sick sometimes but still managed most things!

OP posts:
BuchananBabies · 27/01/2022 20:59

@Aubyone it totally depends all pregnancies are different. We are going on holiday in May and I'll be 20 weeks and not planning to cancel actually quite looking forward to it.

@BecLJ thank you I've downloaded bounty.

Anyone else feeling really crampy? Had a few hours thinking I was going to get af but seems to have calmed down now.

5manc · 27/01/2022 21:09

@BuchananBabies I am fine during the day but have terrible cramps in my lower pelvis and thighs at night which keeps waking me up. Lasts about 15 minutes and then stops! So weird. Midwife said that was normal though... who knew! 🤷🏻‍♀️

moonpie32 · 27/01/2022 21:21

Hey!

Can I join? I just got my BFP tonight. Looking at a early October due date Smile this will be #2 as already have DC who is 3.

Leibee87 · 27/01/2022 22:17

@BuchananBabies I have been feeling cramping too. The evenings seem to be the worst for feeling rough.

@Aubyone I have a festival booked for the end of May. Camping for the weekend, don't know how I'm going to feel sleeping on the floor at like 15/16 weeks but we shall see 🙄.

Congratulations on your BFP @moonpie32.

BuchananBabies · 27/01/2022 22:29

Congratulations @moonpie32.

@5manc and @Leibee87 it's definitely been worse at night. Currently cuddling my hot water bottle, apparently all normal though according to Dr Google 😂.

We've just booked Bongo Bingo for a friends birthday in April so that'll be a laugh, it looks wild!

Love86 · 27/01/2022 22:39

Hey Beautiful Ladies 😊

Can I join you guys? I got my BFP on the 17th but was really faint then done cb on the 20th and got 1-2 weeks. Ive done a 1000 tests now lol. I done a test because i kept running to the toilet and was really tired and sore boobs. I am 35 (36 next month) and have a 9 and 5 year old. My girls i know will be really helpful, bless them.

I am with you all on the anxiety and ive done it twice before 🙈 but its been a while. Last pregnancy 7 years ago goes so fast. I am due sept 30th but yh felt really behind the sept due lot so came to find you guys 🥰 This is my first time on here.

Love86 · 27/01/2022 22:41

Congratulations everyone btw 🥳🙏🏻🙌🏾👏🏾💃

Love86 · 27/01/2022 22:54

Hi @Aubyone congratulations

I went to Portugal in my last pregnancy near the end of my 1st trimester, all inclusive ( was booked before pregnancy) and all i could eat was chips and rolls 😆 and couldnt drink and was soooo tired👎 but thats my experience. Everybody is so different. You might not get bad symptoms 🙏🏻

moonpie32 · 27/01/2022 23:02

Congrats to everyone else too. Hope everyone has a happy healthy 9 months or so Daffodil

Anyone else not have any symptoms at all apart from missing AF for first couple of weeks? This happened with DC1 and made me very anxious!
