Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

Anyone else still not got a pattern for baby movements? I definitely feel him move every day but seems to be at different times depending on what or how much I've eaten and how busy I am! I have a few quiet hours and I panic... I have an anterior placenta but in this last week have definitely felt proper kicks but not all day long.

@fejkalove I hope you manage to find somewhere soon, we're all here if you need to chat and vent xx

LS2020 · 24/01/2022 10:23

Hi all, hope you’re plodding on well x

In addition to the Emma/Bounty packs, if you sign up to boots parenting club on the advantage card, you get double points when spend £20, a free bottle and soother, breast pads and aveeno baby wash ☺️ Didn’t find the bottle in store but got the rest and some nappies on their baby week sale so got double points.

@fejkalove yeah even Amazon has some stuff next day if you ever desperately needed. I bought stuff early as people said there had been logistic delays on getting items and tbh they all came within week so I would try not to worry on how much you have at the moment, you have enough things to be worried about! At the end of the day, all they need is their mama. Hope you get sorted soon x

@itssquidstella I was heavier starting than you and I’ve put about 6kg on and that’s got me down a bit, as I worked so hard to lose 12kg before I got pregnant 🤦‍♀️ As you say though, I’m still in my skinny jeans (with bump band) so trying to tell myself it’s all just bump and boob weight!

@EastMidsGem yes I feel like this. Definitely have an active baby who I feel frequently but don’t feel they have any set times beyond when I wake up like 4am. I had a panic the other day as they had a quiet day and had to have a lemonade and lie down and they were there gently so I think they must have been turned around or something. I read somewhere that said I should be feeling 10 movements every 2-3 hours but I don’t see how you monitor that when you’re working etc?!

EastMidsGem · 24/01/2022 10:29

@LS2020 well exactly!! When I'm working, I feel barely anything because I'm concentrating so much on work. So then I think... has he moved today or not?! Don't want to waste the time of the professionals if it's still reasonably early to be gathering a pattern especially when I've only felt those distinct kicks for the past week anyway

That's good to know about Boots although the large Boots I went to yesterday was out of bounty packs and Emma's diary packs so still not got them!

GinnyBee · 24/01/2022 10:39

I think they only start worrying about pattern around 28 weeks, they won't have really established properly until then. But always best to get checked if you're worried!

EastMidsGem · 24/01/2022 11:07

@GinnyBee I just had a warm milk and put my laptop aside for half an hour. I felt 10 distinctive movements in half an hour although granted they were fainter than usual so I think he might have set up camp behind the placenta over night! I'm not so worried now but easy to miss them if you're busy when he's in that position. At least I'll know what to try next time

aNewYorkerInLondon · 24/01/2022 16:13

Hi @EastMidsGem, @LS2020, and @GinnyBee. Since about 20/21 weeks, Baby Boy has been super active, and the kicks were really strong even with an anterior placenta -- we could even see them on the outside. Well, for the past week, he has hardly been moving at all that I can feel, and when I could, they were not hard kicks as they had been before. I went to the maternity day assessment unit today and baby's heartbeat is still good, so that is a relief, but they want me to come back on wednesday for a scan to see if anything is going on. I think this is also because I am also older and hypertensive, so I'm higher risk.

I'm still nervous but feeling better than I was this morning.

I would say that if something feels "off" to you, call the midwife line and ask them about it. It's their job; we're not putting them out and its better to be cautious and have everything turn out to be OK than for something to be going wrong and to miss it.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 24/01/2022 16:14

oh, i'm 25+5 today

Sarah239 · 24/01/2022 19:07

I had my 24 week appointment today and she asked if I understood about tracking movements. My understanding is it's from 24 weeks they want you to track but maybe it varies from trust to trust.

She basically said... if you are unsure, take an hour to yourself and sit and focus on it. If still unsure then call.

I've been feeling less recently too but still feeling quite a lot. Agree with others, if concerned get it checked out.

Kittycaz · 24/01/2022 20:23

I have a kind of pattern. When I sleep he pokes me in the side every 30 seconds and then he will stop for a few hours and then begin it again. When I first get up in morning he moves after breakfast for half hour then he will be quiet til around 1ish and he will give me a few kicks and punches but then has another break. Around 4pm ish he moves around as I'm feeling tired and hungry at that point. After I've eaten he has a few movements then will go to sleep. Wake up around 10pm just as I'm going to bed. Lol. I only noticed this as I had a day to myself watching films and concentrating on it. When I'm busy I don't feel him much but my advice if u haven't felt anything for a while and are a bit worried. Get a cold sugary drink (I normally go for cold fanta) have a decent drink then lay on your left side and concentrate if u don't feel anything for an hour contact midwife. My boy is very active though so I'd be able to tell if the movements slow down. I've heard that some days it can be that ur little one may be turned into your back and u can't feel them as much. x

itssquidstella · 24/01/2022 20:26

I’m just over 23 weeks and think he's developing a pattern now, although he has been quieter over the last two weekends (perhaps because I’m less active overall?).

He moves quite a lot between about 8.30-12.00, then he goes quieter until the early evening. He usually moves loads from 6pm onwards, especially after I’ve eaten dinner. I tend to wake up two or three times a night for a wee, and I usually feel him if I'm awake between 2-4am.

Will see how it develops over the next couple of weeks!

YfenniChristie · 24/01/2022 20:34

Evening everyone. I'm 24 weeks and have a pattern of sorts. Usually its just before getting up and I'm getting my bearings, then just as I'm dropping off to sleep at night, and again if I get up in the night, I'll get a few kicks as I'm dropping off again.

Over the course of the last two weeks, I've started getting little jolts or grinding feelings when I'm sat my desk but they're not very regular at all.

I've had instances where the movement has felt muffled, if that makes sense. Also, I only ever seen to feel them either on my left side or really low down towards my cervix. Does anyone else only feel them on one side?

fejkalove · 24/01/2022 20:35

@aNewYorkerInLondon

Hi *@EastMidsGem, @LS2020, and @GinnyBee. Since about 20/21 weeks, Baby Boy has been super active, and the kicks were really strong even with an anterior placenta -- we could even see* them on the outside. Sorry you've had that extra stress - positive to hear a good heartbeat though. Good luck for Wednesday!

I felt less movements yesterday and Saturday, I even searched out a Doppler I had when I was pregnant with my daughter but couldn't find it. Thankfully baby has been incredibly active today. She's breech and the kicks are so low it makes me feel a bit sick Grin

itssquidstella · 24/01/2022 20:48

@YfenniChristie I have an anterior placenta so movements vary quite a lot in their intensity depending on where he is - if he's hiding behind the placenta then they can feel very faint/dull, but if his feet are either side if it then I can feel proper kicks (and DH can feel them too!).

I think at this stage when they're still tiny, their position can make a big difference to how much you feel.

YfenniChristie · 24/01/2022 21:57

@itssquidstella From what I can remember from my 20 week scan, they said my placenta is parallel to my cervix and I also have two lots of fibroids on the right. Apparently those are high up so unlikely to "interfere" but I do wonder if they are playing a part in where I'm feeling the baby.

DH has been able to feel the baby a few times now, and can apparently feeling them moving around even when I can't. (He's also spent this evening putting together the Egg 2 that we collected on the weekend. He's so excited)

aNewYorkerInLondon · 24/01/2022 22:01

Thank you @fejkalove!

YummyMummyXoX · 24/01/2022 22:27

Have my 24 week app tomorrow looking forward to hearing her heartbeat again.
I've been feeling strong movements since about 18 weeks and now they are every morning from 5am throughout the day when I eat or drink and on an evening when I'm in the bath and in bed I feel her more than i dont it's really helped with my anxiety.
We have what we need I think bar a steriliser, rocker/swing, baby bath and babies hospital bag. I've started putting bits in mine this weekend. It's all becoming so real now. Is anyone going to have or had a 4d scan?
I'm hoping your all doing ok and bumps x

Sarah239 · 24/01/2022 22:58

I notice my little one move most when I first wake up in the morning (or if I wake prematurely in the early am, sometimes she gives me a
kick). Then I normally feel her after eating or drinking, less active throughout the work day (or maybe I just notice it less!) and then really active between 8pm-10pm until I go to sleep. This is when my husband will usually have a feel of my tummy and feel some kicks and we will have some time focused on her.

I love her so much, love feeling her wriggling around in there! Midwife said today she was lying like a hammock 😅 Sounds comfy, I don't blame her!

Kittycaz · 25/01/2022 08:39

Morning mums, I've got my 25 week midwife appointment in an hour very excited to hear LO heartbeat but still so nervous.

TashieWoo · 25/01/2022 08:46

@YummyMummyXoX we’re planning on having a 4D scan at 29 weeks so in 3 weeks time, apparently that’s the best time to have one. We had a 4D ‘sneak peek’ when we had a private gender scan at 18 weeks so will be lovely to see how much she has developed 💖

I hope your appointment goes well @Kittycaz - it’s normal to be nervous, enjoy hearing your baby’s heartbeat. I had a trainee midwife assisting the midwife for my 24 week appointment and she found the heartbeat quicker than any others had (maybe because baby was bigger) and listened for a lot longer, was such a treat for DP and I.

I think I have a movement pattern of sorts, generally first thing in the morning and when I’m sitting down working or relaxing, at hour or so intervals. If I’m active though or standing I can’t feel her, either because my movements are sending her to sleep or maybe I’m concentrating. I have a wristband from the Kicks Count charity to monitor movements on which I find useful and recommend 💖

Kittycaz · 25/01/2022 09:20

@TashieWoo I've just ordered one what a great idea I've ordered mine in blue.

YummyMummyXoX · 25/01/2022 09:43

@TashieWoo awh amazing, I wasn't sure when was best to have one so that's helpful. I hope you enjoy seeing your baby girl. I have a growth scan at almost 33 weeks so will be nice to see her then too and perhaps have the 4d one at say 29 30 then Grin so excited to see her again and in person! X

TunaJacket · 25/01/2022 09:49

@YummyMummyXoX I’m thinking about having a 3D scan but am still undecided! I’m worried he might look weird and it will worry me for the rest of my pregnancy lol

YummyMummyXoX · 25/01/2022 12:01

Haha @TunaJacket this did make me smile. I know what you mean! But I'm sure you will be besotted by your baby! 💜 xxx

EastMidsGem · 25/01/2022 12:40

Well baby decided to move back into a more "normal" position overnight and there was lots of kicking! Woke up 1.30 to go to the toilet (which is now happening at least once a night) and then he started kicking at 2am so took me ages to get back to sleep. Then woke me up at 4am pressing on my bladder and continued to kick until some time after 5. Absolutely shattered but so happy today

TashieWoo · 25/01/2022 14:31

Ahh that is lovely news @EastMidsGem! Nothing nicer than feeling your baby kick especially after a ‘quiet’ time. Soon our babies will be too big to hide themselves away in undetectable positions 💖
