Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@yummymummyXoxo have a consultant appointment on Monday and they are aparantly going to decide if they are going to induce me early.
I finished up work yesterday so one less thing to worry about but it's becoming a struggle to move around now!

Well at least there will be some plan in place come Monday! And being off work will probably help you start preparing physically and mentally?
I know roughly the week I'm being induced but get my actual date in a fortnight woop
We're all getting right on the edge now our poor bodies hehe x

Orangessunshine · 07/04/2022 20:56

@Mummyingetc thank you I'll deffo buy that book. Its nice to have a 'proper' book to read rather than online sometimes. Never heard of baby whisperer so will have a look too - thank you.

@aNewYorkerInLondon thank you for the recommendation. Ouch I don't envy you with a hospital stay, hopefully it was reassuring and made you feel comfortable being in a hospital. Exciting to be meeting your baby so soon.

Everything is starting to feel very real and exciting now Star

Kittycaz · 08/04/2022 10:27

Welcome to the new members of the may baby club :)

I had my Health Visitor home visit yesterday she was so nice have me so much info and asked allot of questions she was here for about an hour as I bombarded her with FTM questions. Gave my DH husband a slap on wrist for not having his hospital bag packed so he's getting on with that today. My LO feels even lower and I only got 2 hours sleep last night between bathroom trips and LO kicking my cervix. Home stretch now though am 36 weeks today. I went to dentist yesterday to with DH. DH was in there 10 minutes for deep clean and check up. I went in afterwards the dentist asked me when I'm due and I said should be beginning of May but might be induced earlier with the polyhydramnios. He just poked my teeth and sent me away think he was scared to do anything else I thought it was hilarious though. Tomorrow I'm going out with some friends for lunch but that's my last day going out socially til my little man is born gonna rest. Anyone packing a snack bag? I'm not sure what to put in there some people have said lucozade and other people say isotonic drinks x

YfenniChristie · 08/04/2022 12:24

Hi everyone, still in hospital ATM. Have been put on beta blockers and they're happy with my blood pressure now. But before they can discharge me, they need to the baby to stop sleeping during the monitorings - apparently they're happy with their heartbeat and movements but for whatever reason the machine isn't greenlighting the results so until it does, I'm kind of stuck here? 🤦🏼‍♀️😩 Just been on it for an hour, and now have to wait another hour to take it again.

Also, they've found signs on infection in my wee so have sent that off for further testing. It wasn't there before, so they're hoping they've caught a very early UTI.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 08/04/2022 12:44

@YfenniChristie, I'm sorry you've been stuck there. Will they let you change positions, maybe on your side or more upright, to inspire baby to move a bit too? I know its super hard to move with those monitoring circles strapped to you.

YfenniChristie · 08/04/2022 12:54

@aNewYorkerInLondon Yep, tried changing positions. Tried eating and drinking while being monitored as well. During the last monitoring the baby was moving "beautifully" for the first half hour then fell asleep. Midwives aren't sure why the machine didn't like the readings.

I think that's adding to my frustration. If everyone reading the results is happy, why can't that overrule the machine?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 08/04/2022 13:35

@YfenniChristie, I agree with you completely.

As much as I appreciate the NHS, I've noticed that their guidelines and practices don't allow for many judgement calls by the medical professionals. If x, then y. No deviation. Which, of course, is ridiculous when talking about medicine or childbirth. It's all just shades of grey, nothing is clear cut.

EastMidsGem · 08/04/2022 15:18

I went to the breech clinic yesterday and they have supported my decision for a c-section which they say will be when I'm 39 weeks pregnant. I'm 36+4 today. So it will most likely be 25th April! They say I'll get a call next week with the date. Hopefully I don't go into labour before then as it will mean an emergency c-section. Don't think it's really sunk in that in 2 and a half weeks max, my pregnancy will be over!

midnight90 · 08/04/2022 15:23

Anyone else getting that feeling of excitement and dread. I'm due end of may and I feel like it's happening so fast. Like I'm super excited to meet my little one but dreading everything that comes after like when we take her home the first night I don't think I'll be able to sleep/nap for fear of getting something wrong. I hope it's not just me.

MrsMay19 · 08/04/2022 17:02

@midnight90 I totally feel like that! We had a baby care class through the hospital and it basically just made me feel like we would kill the baby. My husband and I were saying only the other day we feel like we have no idea what to do! I’m excited for her to be here now though, I’m done being pregnant! Although 4 weeks doesn’t feel like very long but the idea of doing another 9 sounds like hell!

YfenniChristie · 08/04/2022 18:26

Finally got discharged from the hospital. Took forever to get the "right" results for the baby. Ended up downing cup after cup of ice cold water. Now have to take blood pressure meds twice a day, and I think the appointment with the consultant on Wednesday will discuss inducing the baby in 3 weeks time.

Now home, but have had an additional curveball thrown my way. 🤦🏼‍♀️ DSis who lives with us has tested positive for Covid. Her fiancé, who also lives with us, has tested negative and both have moved out to isolate at my parents. DH has taken a PCR test (as he's healthcare) so waiting on the results for that.

My Covid test at the hospital came back negative but FFS. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Kittycaz · 09/04/2022 10:41

@YfenniChristie I am glad to hear you are back home now. Oh no hope your sister will be OK just need plenty of rest x

YfenniChristie · 09/04/2022 11:09

@Kittycaz She is feeling ok, just tired thankfully.

DH had his PCR results back and he's positive 🤦🏼‍♀️😩 He's incredibly upset and worried about passing it on to me, so he's now isolating in the spare bedroom.

I am...I don't know how I feel ATM. I'm currently testing negative and will keep testing over the weekend but I'm scheduled to have growth scans, a clinic appointment, an update with the consultant on my blood pressure and a community midwife all this week and I'm just worried about the impact testing positive will have on all of that.

I'm going to give the unit a call on Monday but I'm not holding out a lot of hope that I'll continue to test negative.

Kittycaz · 09/04/2022 11:26

@YfenniChristie hopefully he isolated fast enough from you. I know quite a few people who when 1 family member tested positive they were just very careful and they didn't end up catching it. Keep ur Windows and internal doors open (keep air flowing and less touch points) have anti bacterial wipes in bathroom and ask DH to wipe touch points in bathroom. Leave his food outside his spare room door and he was his dish when your in bed and just wipe over the touch points again. I really hope everything will be OK.
This is my last day leaving home til my LO is born except for hospital appointments for exactly this reason covid is breeding like mad and people don't care any more and it's a shame. I was at corner shop the other day and this lady was at the til with her son and just told the shopkeeper casually that her son has covid and wants sweets! Idiots everywhere. X

K834baby3 · 09/04/2022 12:46

Oh no, I hope you avoid covid!
Anyone else having more days where they are feeling fed up and grumpy for no reason😂 this is me today!
Everything hubby says is wrong, everything he suggests is wrong, poor man🤣

Sarah239 · 09/04/2022 18:13

@YfenniChristie I hope you stay well! Hopefully it was caught early enough for your partner not to pass on to you and he/you both recover quickly 🤞 rates are so high at the moment... it does make me a bit nervous for vulnerable people but still most recover fine xx

@Cienega hello! My baby's HR has been fairly consistently 142 for the last few months of checks. I have the opposite worry to you, I've been worried that is too high! I'm sure if there was a concern the midwives would have mentioned it to you though!

We just had NCT breastfeeding session this morning... I didn't find it as helpful as some of the previous sessions (it was a different tutor to our normal one and I think I just didn't gel with her style so much...) but it has made me relax a bit and feel like I don't need to obsess over equipment/rules etc! It's my body, my baby and I will find my own path!

I have four days of work left now (!) and while I think the last week is going to be a bit stressful, I can't wait to be off now! I seem to be the earliest going on leave in my NCT group. But it's because I'm taking 4 weeks annual leave first!

Happy Saturday everyone x

Kittycaz · 11/04/2022 07:47

I started colostrum harvesting yesterday. Over 2 sessions hand expressing, once in morning once in evening was able to collect 0.5ml of colostrum in my syringe I labelled it put it in a sterile bag and into freezer. I'm really proud even though it was a small amount. Gonna continue harvesting until I have 10 syringes then after LO is born I can pump.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 11/04/2022 11:04

@Kittycaz, that's great! did you watch any video or anything that helped you know what to do?

Kittycaz · 11/04/2022 12:02

@aNewYorkerInLondon I just followed this websites instructions www.frimleyhealthandcare.org.uk/maternity/your-pregnancy/preparing-to-feed-your-baby-colostrum-harvesting/

And allot of trail and error. Some advice for everyone though the syringes can be given for free by your local hospitals breast feeding team I didn't know this and brought syringes online.

JMill13 · 11/04/2022 12:46

Hi everyone

Hope you're all keeping well and babies are behaving.

Just been at the consultant for growth scan and baby is weighing in at over 6lb (can't remember exact now, as head went into crazy over drive when i heard 6lb 😂) I'm currently 34+5 so a bit scared she's going to be like 12lb even though I'm not having to push her out, got my section booked in as well so now have a date ready to go. Terrified though you'd think I'd be calmer having done this before only 20 months ago.

YfenniChristie · 11/04/2022 16:58

Hi everyone! Just checking in. Still testing Covid negative ATM so was able to attend my appointments this afternoon. I've officially been discharged from midwife led to consultant/obstetrics. Blood pressure is ok, so meds seem to be working. Had a growth scan and everyone is pleased with how things are looking - they think they're around 6lbs-something at the moment.

The added curveball today though is that it appears I've only put on a kg in weight throughout the pregnancy. Which on top of everything else that's going on made me cry at the midwife 🤦🏼‍♀️ I've been questioned on my diet, and they're not worried as bloods have always come back fine, baby is hitting targets - they think it's just a matter of eating a lot healthier compared to pre-pregnancy.

@Sarah239 We had our NCT breastfeeding session a few weeks back and we didn't gel with the tutor either. It was helpful but I fear the towel baby we made for the session has now become a permanent member of our household 😂

@Kittycaz Thank you for the resource! I've been meaning to look into this but have had no idea where to start.

Bubbasmama2017 · 12/04/2022 07:30

@YfenniChristie and @aNewYorkerInLondon sounds like you've had a lot going on! I'm getting very worried about one of us catching covid now. Even though I work from home I'll be glad to finish work this week so I can have a few weeks to myself to catch up on naps and batch cooking. Feeling quite over whelmed and still don't have the hospital bag packed as keep thinking baby will come 2 weeks late and I'll be prepared by then but you never know! 36 weeks tomorrow which still sounds like I've got a way to go but could be just 2 weeks I suppose!

@K834baby3 I can definitely relate to the grumps- I have the patience of an angry wasp at the moment. My poor husband has been informed to just agree promptly with everything I say for the next month and I’ll turn back into a human being soon.

I’ve just got my sweeps and an induction date booked as of yesterday pretty much exactly when I wanted them so I’m really pleased. Sweeps have worked for me twice before so fingers crossed this little one can copy its brothers! I do remember feeling happier with a newborn than heavily pregnant last time because at least you can put them down for a bit…

Not long now!

I think newborns are designed to let you get up to speed at the beginning- they’re little puddings. Feeding and keeping your brain on the planet is the name of the game. There’s a wealth of information and support out there- just ask for it if you need it.

fejkalove · 12/04/2022 19:25

Hello ladies. Hope you're all well?

Bit of a random question but does anyone have experience with/purchased a baby sling? I'm keen to give one a go but not wanting to spend too much incase it's not a success.

Thank you Smile
