Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@fattycatty82 yes I’ve had the injections a 10 day course due to having covid but I also been told I have to start them at 28weeks of pregnancy right up until 6 weeks after delivery because I have a high bmi and also this is my 5th baby so my score was high so I’ve been advised to do them I’m not happy about it but what ever is safe for both me and baby

I tried to get Emma's Diary and Bounty packs from Boots yesterday when we were in town but they didn't have any :( she said they hadn't been getting them for months and no one knows why! My nearest town doesn't have a Boots anymore so will have to wait for another bigger shopping trip down at the 'big church' and try again.

Yesterday's John Lewis appointment was super useful and we got so much sorted I'm starting to get excited instead of just feeling overwhelmed! Narrowed down our pram choices to two, and I've now pretty much decided on the car seat system too. Husband's grandma has promised to buy us a cot so will be getting the one I really wanted but didn't want to pay for, and his parents are paying for the pram, so it's all feeling possible as well and not ruinously expensive anymore 😂

Once we find somewhere to go look at pram option no. 2 (as JL don't have it) and make a final decision there will be a monster order going in to make most of the discount we get for doing the baby appointment. We get 10% off £750 or 15% off £1500 and I feel we can easily hit £1500 - especially if we go with the pram that they stock.

Then I had a massage today which has made me feel a lot better. As I already knew, my glutes are super duper tight, and she didn't notice anything else to be out of order. The weight of my bump is wanting to pull my pelvis into an anterior tilt, and my glutes are working extra hard to stop that and keep my spine straight. I've now also ordered a bump support band hoping to take some of the load off my glutes and back.

Kittycaz · 22/01/2022 21:55

I had to get the packs from a city boots store (Nottingham) as my town didn't have any in stock either.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 22/01/2022 23:05

Could someone explain these packs, please? I'm not sure I follow. What are they?

Sarah239 · 23/01/2022 07:09

@GinnyBee I pretty much decided on Cybex Cloud Z yesterday, which you mentioned before. Is that the one you've decided on? Be interested to know what prams you are deciding between, does the car seat clip in?

We might try and go to Mamas & Papas today or JL which will be our first baby trip to see some things in the flesh.

@aNewYorkerInLondon I think they are free mum-to-be packs with some freebies you can register for with an app called Bounty. I've heard about them but not done it myself www.bounty.com/about-bounty/bounty-packs/mum-to-be-pack Not sure about the Emma's Diary one (assume similar) although I think I might have got that handed to me at my 12 week scan! Will have to look in to it.

Happy Sunday everyone!

GinnyBee · 23/01/2022 08:11

@Sarah239 we’re going to go for the Nuba Arra Next which is very similar to the Cybex Cloud Z, just some reviews have said it’s marginally easier to handle and you can lie it flat during driving too which you c any do with the Cybex. The prams we’re deciding on are iCandy Peach all-terrain and Noordi Fjordi. We need something robust enough to handle countryside as we live very rurally but also able to fold up easily to take into town as to get anywhere we need to drive. We also looked at Mamas & Papas Ocarro (worst of the bunch), Silver Cross Wave, Uppababy Vista and Bugaboo Fox3. None were as convenient as the iCandy, and we haven’t yet been able to see the Noordi in person but having seen some reviews I’m really keen to try it too if we can find it. If not it’s not a tragedy as the iCandy was brilliant.

@aNewYorkerInLondon you sign up on the app or website and then get lots of free stuff! You take the vouchers to Boots or Argos (Emma’s) or Boots or Tesco (Bounty) and pick them up. @Sarah239 the packs you get through the website are different to the one at the booking appt, there’s three you can get and it’ll be a lot more stuff.

GinnyBee · 23/01/2022 08:14

Full of typos there! Posting from bed 😂 I meant Nuna Arra, and that you can’t lie the Cybex flat during driving.

TashieWoo · 23/01/2022 08:29

Thanks for the tips from your shopping trip @GinnyBee, good to know about the Nuna car seats being the only ones that can lie flat whilst driving! I’m going to a retail park today that has a Halfords so I’ll pop in to see if they have anything, I need to look properly and not just online now. Also good to know about the prams, as we have similar requirements to you. I hadn’t looked at iCandy so will check them out now.

fattycatty82 · 23/01/2022 08:50

I got all three packs from Emma's dairy in my local boots after downloading the voucher from the website but I just got a load of pamphlets and a couple of really tiny samples. I think the only good thing was a packet of nappies but wasn't really worth it. I'll try the bounty app though if that's different as I do love a freebie

So happy it's Sunday and I don't have to work today. Going to the gym and having a swim which will be blissful. I am smug and happy to day 😛 I have done all my baby shopping and set everything up, it's all ready! Just need the baby now. I had to get stuff sorted before new year really as I knew my job would be insanely busy and stressful... sigh

Kittycaz · 23/01/2022 08:58

Good morning ladies, yeah you get some decent stuff plus the bounty app is quite useful u can track how big baby is and what's developing each week.

GinnyBee · 23/01/2022 10:05

@TashieWoo I was surprised as I didn't think we'd want an iCandy! I hadn't really given it much thought beforehand, it seems too popular if that makes sense 😂 I tend to think that anything too mainstream can't be very specialised and you end up paying more for the name, so if you have specific unique requirements then you can get something better for less money with a less well known brand, but we were very impressed with it. So definitely no confirmation bias going on either!

@fattycatty82 oh that's disappointing! I thought there'd be more stuff there. I haven't got mine yet as the Boots I went into didn't have them.

I should have just stayed in bed, have had a terrible morning! Although my back was aching so had to get up anyway... Started with sitting on a massage ball to try to release some tension, which was making me frustrated as I'd just had a massage yesterday! It can't be right that I get so tense so quickly again! Then I slipped the bread knife when I was making breakfast and got a massive cut on my finger that didn't stop gushing for a long time. It went fairly deep and the daily aspirin I'm taking probably made it worse too. Husband had taken the dog for his morning walk and came back to find me sitting on the sofa crying, clutching a wad of kitchen roll and holding my hand up. I was supposed to go to dog agility for 10am but I was still bleeding at 9.30 so no chance. Made hubby go instead, as the dog shouldn't miss out because of my clumsiness. But, I suppose these little blood stains all over the floor will incentivise me to actually wash the floors which kinda needs doing anyway.

YfenniChristie · 23/01/2022 10:29

@GinnyBee Oh no! That sounds like a hell of morning! How is your finger now?

I've just had my booster (whoo!).

GinnyBee · 23/01/2022 10:34

@YfenniChristie It's slowed down enough that I managed to put a plaster on it. Being careful still and trying not to aggravate it. It's throbbing a bit but not too painful. It looks like I'll live!

TashieWoo · 23/01/2022 10:39

Ouch @GinnyBee that sounds awful! Hope it’s stopped bleeding now? I hope you are relaxing now and you don’t have any more mishaps today!

I’ve been doing housework all morning while DP is at football and going shopping with DP and mum later before a roast, just an easy Sunday. Also going to get a bottle steriliser and perfect prep from a lady I found on Nextdoor, planning on breastfeeding but the PP will be useful if we need to top up with formula.

I went to see my horse yesterday which is a highlight of my week, he’s on a professional yard so I have to book times etc but the owner is being fantastic with him and he’s doing well. I get videos of him being ridden in the week and can’t wait to get back on board in the summer Smile.

GinnyBee · 23/01/2022 14:23

@TashieWoo Thanks, yeah it's holding up. If I knock it it starts bleeding again and will take a good while to heal so have to be careful with it for a while. I think people have been to minor injuries for less... Sounds like you have a nice day planned! We've also been doing housework. I hate doing it, but feel so much better and more relaxed when the house is clean. I'm glad your horse is doing well too!

Husband enjoyed agility with the dog, so that's great! He was reluctant to go, but agreed to it on account of me being pregnant and self-preservation instinct kicked in 😂 But he came back saying he'd be happy to go again whenever I don't feel up to it.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 23/01/2022 16:12

@GinnyBee, re: hubs & agility -- that's a win!! Especially with baby on the way!

Sarah239 · 23/01/2022 18:34

We went to Mamas and Papas after a walk at a country park today to look at car seats and prams... my goodness, it was overwhelming! But it was helpful too. If only in that it taught us 1) we need to allow a full day for this kind of shopping trip in future (we only had just over an hour...mistake) and 2) we need to ask the salespeople to show us how things work rather than getting flustered trying to figure it out for ourselves!

Oh no! I've gone for the Ocarro!! I thought it felt sturdier than the Bugaboo, but really wanted the Egg2, was just too expensive with the Cybex Cloud.

itssquidstella · 23/01/2022 19:04

How much weight has everyone gained? I’m 23 weeks today and have weighed myself for the first time this pregnancy, and I’m EIGHT KILOS heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight 😮

I don't feel like my arms, legs and bum have got any bigger so it must literally all be bump, but I’m a bit horrified at how much I’ve gained already. I had a BMI of just under 21 and a pretty athletic physique beforehand so I’m a bit ashamed of myself.

Am going to have to lay off the snacks from now on!

GinnyBee · 23/01/2022 21:07

@itssquidstella I honestly have no clue and I don't care! I don't have scales at home, haven't for years. And it's not really my weight anyway, it's the baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, extra blood volume, bigger boobs, fluid retention... I really can't find a single shit to give about weight gain in pregnancy 😅

@fejkalove It's a very popular pram! But compared to the others it felt heavy and the folding seemed complicated. The sales person clearly didn't like it either which probably influenced our opinion. Many people love it though!

itssquidstella · 23/01/2022 21:14

@GinnyBee I need to try to channel your attitude! Tbh I wasn't bothered until I weighed myself (was at a friend's and she has scales in her bathroom; we don't own a set) but now I know, I feel bad - which is stupid, because I don't look or feel any different from how I did before I stepped on the scales!

morphe · 23/01/2022 22:29

I'm feeling quite behind on buying things for baby reading all these posts! We still have DD's old car seat and can use her pushchair and carrier, but we'll need a new cot and clothes.

I forgot all about Bounty and Emma's Diary packs! I got them for my last pregnancy but haven't signed up for them this time around.

I've put on more weight than you @itssquidstella. Not sure how much it is now, but was over 20lb a few weeks ago. I'm fairly relaxed about it, I just assume it will mostly come off eventually as it has with my previous pregnancies.

Last night my DD fell on top of my bump while we were playing in bed, which was a bit painful. I considered trying to get a scan at A&E but I really couldn't face having a long wait there on a Saturday night. Baby is still moving though and I'm not bleeding, so I'm hoping all the fluid in there has provided enough cushioning.

Sarah239 · 24/01/2022 07:00

@morphe I feel the same as you, except that it sounds like you have some things already and we have nothing except for clothes! I'm starting to feel a bit anxious and behind about it but I think as long as we place an order for the car seat and pushchair in the next 3 weeks we will be ok. I want to try and get a crib second hand.

Hope you are still feeling my ok after your bump. You could maybe ring maternity triage/day assessment if concerned just to chat to them, they might reassure you that as long as you don't have any concerning symptoms, you should be fine.

I'm not sure exactly how much weight I have put on but I think it's between 7-9 lbs last time I weighed myself which apparently is 3-4kg. I lost weight in first trimester though and it took until about week 18 for me to start gaining weight. If anyone is worried I would speak to midwife but I don't think now is the time to be restricting what we eat, only maybe replacing unhealthy things with healthier alternatives! I can't stop eating sugary things though!

I've got my 24 week midwife appt today :)

itssquidstella · 24/01/2022 07:18

Good luck with your midwife appointment @Sarah239!

I’m sure you're fine, @morphe, but always sensible to get checked out if you are worried :)

I also am not prepared in the slightest! I yet don't even have anywhere to live Sad hoping something comes up this week and once that is behind me I can get what I need. I keep telling myself that almost everything can be ordered for next day delivery and most shops are still stocking fluffy winter outfits so I'm waiting anyway.

Good luck for those with appointments today.
