Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@morphe good luck with the test! X I had 5 fondant fancies last night 🤦‍♀️

Bubbasmama2017 · 21/01/2022 12:28

@morphe I've got one in a couple of weeks too due to my BMI, a friend had GD in her pregnancy and said it's not really to do with what you've been eating although if you do get diagnosed you can sometimes manage it with a lower sugar diet seemed quite complicated from what she sent me! I was worried about it a few weeks ago but what will be will be. I just would prefer not to be induced!

Thanks @aNewYorkerInLondon my midwifes never pick up the phone Sad.. I think I’ll just walk in and ask them if they can prepare one for me, hope it’s not a wasted trip

GinnyBee · 21/01/2022 15:55

My new appointment has come through on Badger Notes now, as suspected it's 24th Feb so seems like these clinics are monthly on Thursdays. They've also brought my glucose test forward to that same Monday so my results can come in before I see the consultant, originally it was booked for the 25th. I'm so not looking forward to it! I had to do it as a toddler because of mum's GD and HATED it, I was crying forcing the disgusting liquid down, and kids usually like sweet things! I hope they've improved in the last 30 odd years.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 22/01/2022 04:17

Good morning and happy weekend, fellow insomniacs and mums-to-be! 😋🥱

LS2020 · 22/01/2022 04:46

@aNewYorkerInLondon good morning! Nice to know I’m not the only one up so early at the moment. Tho todays 4.30 is better than yesterdays 3.30 😴

All quiet from me. 25 week appointment on Tuesday and then looking forward to them being more frequent as feel time will pass quicker now ☺️ Booked a 4D scan on my birthday when I’ll be about 27 weeks so hoping that will be good too

fattycatty82 · 22/01/2022 07:11

I don't believe it it's gone 7am and I've only just woken up! I waited until 12.30am to go to bed though 😭

KMHH · 22/01/2022 07:15

I woke up at 4:15 and refused to get up so tried everything to drift back off but nothing so gave in 😅 I have done 2 loads of washing and tidied downstairs mind so it's not all bad 😂 x

Jowd92 · 22/01/2022 07:20

I have my midwife appointment on the 1st feb and I also have to go for the gtt test I’ve had it in my last 2 pregnancies also it’s not very nice and with how sick I’ve been this time I’m not sure I’ll be able to hold off for the 2 hours waiting after drinking it but I’ll try also started my injections for blood thinning and my stomach is so sore and bruised already after just 6 days worth so I don’t know how I’m going to cope doing it for 18weeks everyday :( does anyone else have to do them?

Kittycaz · 22/01/2022 08:13

The dreaded leg cramps woke me up 2.30am so I walked round my home for a few laps and then tried to go back to sleep but LO had other ideas. I've got mw Tuesday. Do they refer everyone for GD screening. My bmi was normal but I have family history of type 2 diabetes. My mum had pre-eclampsia so I've been on aspirin daily from 12 weeks and it's first pregnancy too so feel my MW just been focusing on that.

YfenniChristie · 22/01/2022 08:32

Morning everyone! I woke up at 2am-ish last night and was awake til 5am. Not great as had an early start today as the plumber was coming at 7.30am to fit a new boiler.

@Kittycaz I assumed everyone was booked in for a GD appointment? They booked me in at my 12 week appointment, and I'll finally(!) be having it on the 14th Feb.

GinnyBee · 22/01/2022 08:41

@Kittycaz I think they only do it if you have a risk factor - family history would be one. That's why I have it too, my mum has GD with me and now has full type 2.

Can I ask what car seats everyone has got? We went to John Lewis yesterday and the lady was very much recommending the Joie i-spin 360 but I still wonder whether it would be easier, especially with a tiny baby, if the seat clipped out of the base whereas the Joie is permanently attached so doesn't come out of the car. I know you're not supposed to really use it as a replacement for the carrycot with the pushchair chassis, although loads offer it, but even just being able to carry it into the house before unbuckling, or putting baby in safely before putting it in the car instead of faffing through the door.

Kittycaz · 22/01/2022 08:42

@YfenniChristie that's what people keep telling me that I should be having it soon. I live in England so not sure why they haven't. I'll mention it to Midwife Tuesday. I did have a appointment with a consultant at 17 weeks but he seemed more bothered about threat of pre eclampsia and then said he doesn't think I need a GD test due to having a healthy bmi. I'm heavy like 12 and half stone but very tall, almost 6 foot, but I havent weighed myself since booking in appt.

Kittycaz · 22/01/2022 08:44

@GinnyBee my car seat came with my travel system its the ickle bubba astral one and that clips in to my pram frame x

YfenniChristie · 22/01/2022 09:07

@Kittycaz Annoyingly different health boards do different things. I have a high BMI, at risk of pre-eclampsia (so taking aspirin) and concerning blood pressure (it's on the high side of normal). Everyone who has these seems to sent straight to a consultant.

My health board basically had me in limbo until 20+ weeks, and couldn't confirm if I was midwife or consultant led. I have finally been told (as of early Jan) that I'm midwife led, but if my blood pressure continues to be an issue, I could go consultant led at any point. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@GinnyBee I can't get my hands on the receipt, but I'm sure we have a Joie that clips in and out. My husband should be collecting everything later today so I can double-check.

TashieWoo · 22/01/2022 09:19

Morning all Smile

@GinnyBee I don’t have a car seat yet but have been researching them. I agree with you that it would be much better to have one that can be unclipped from the car, although the ones that turn around to get baby in and out also look good. Also I’d like to be able to bring the car seat into hospital when we bring the baby home, rather than carrying her out or taking the pram. I like the look of Cybex car seats as they recline more than the others so good for longer journeys, DP’s family live 2 hours away so we will be taking her in the car for longer periods occasionally. I wouldn’t clip the car seat onto the pram chassis though.

Has anyone else started getting swollen ankles and feet? I thought at 25 weeks it was a bit soon but in the evenings there is a line where my socks have been and they are definitely swollen then better in the morning. I’m not on my feet all the time but do walk for around an hour each day, sometimes more. I don’t want this to get any worse too quickly!

GinnyBee · 22/01/2022 09:28

@TashieWoo That's my thoughts exactly! I'm liking the look of Nuna Arra Next as well as the Cybex Cloud Z. Comparable price points, and I think the Nuna is edging it very slightly for me. I also don't care about it fitting my pram chassis, I'm not planning to take it for a walk.

fattycatty82 · 22/01/2022 09:34

I haven't had swollen ankles or legs but I have had very itchy legs in the evenings. I can't work out if it's my washing tablets or material of leggings or what. I don't get a rash. Obviously when I googled it they said some itching in pregnancy is normal but it can be a sign of something really serious which I'd need immediate attention for so basically now I'm paranoid. The internet is a blessing and a curse! My midwife appointment isn't until Feb 1st and it feels like ages ago since I saw anyone. I'll probably speak to a midwife before if itching gets worse.

Hope everyone has a good day. I have two goals for this weekend - get to the gym once and sleep!

fattycatty82 · 22/01/2022 09:36

@Jowd92 that's not nice having to do that poor you. Why? I know some trusts recommend you have blood thinning injections if you catch the dreaded covid

Kittycaz · 22/01/2022 10:03

@yfenniChristie Ive noticed my midwife care has been allot different from my friends who are in different areas, as long as LO is born healthy and there's minimal drama am quite happy but it would be nice for them to keep a little bit closer eye on us, with our risk factors.

I know it's really early but when does everyone think they will pack there hospital bag?

EastMidsGem · 22/01/2022 10:15

I'm planning to pack my hospital bag once I've got some nappies and a couple of other little bits but no idea what size nappies to get or how many! I'm planning to go get my free Emma's diary packs tomorrow from a big boots store - has anyone else got them? I know one of those has a full pack of pampers in there so that will help give me an idea.

I've also been on daily aspirin since 12 weeks and got a GTT booked in for 31st Jan both for my bmi.

We're hoping to get one of the joie travel systems which also comes with a travel cot, high chair, bouncer and 2 car seats that will last until the baby is 4 years old. We found a really good deal for it all but still popping to Mamas and Papas tomorrow to check out their prams and car seats before ordering in case we're massively swayed by some other make

I woke up at about 3.30 and struggled in and out of sleep. Hubby finally felt the baby kicking in the night so he's very excited now

Kittycaz · 22/01/2022 10:21

@EastMidsGem I got all my Emma diary's pack except green one as that one wasn't in stock at boots for me. It came with some good stuff newborn nappies, breast pads, maternity pads, wipes. Thy are the nappies I will be putting in hospital bag. There's also bounty packs as well for free. I got all bounty except newborn one u get in hospital.

EastMidsGem · 22/01/2022 10:25

@Kittycaz I got given one bounty pack at my 12 week scan at the hospital but haven't had any others... can you get them from somewhere else or should I ask for the next ones at the next scan? We have another on 7th Feb due to the issue with baby's feet.

I bought a couple of nighties that button all the way down the front for the hospital and got lots of newborn clothes and a couple of hats. Haven't got and baby blankets yet but one of my friends wants to buy us those and some muslins

Kittycaz · 22/01/2022 10:31

@EastMidsGem if u download the bounty app it pops up with vouchers on there for the packs and u just take it into boots show the cashier and she will give u the packs. Check before redeeming in store though as sometimes they may not have the packs in.

EastMidsGem · 22/01/2022 10:38

@Kittycaz brilliant thank you 😊
