Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

A massage will be lovely, limited sleeping positions really doesn't help does it! I miss sleeping on my back thankfully either left or right side is still ok, but then changing sides is not easy now! I've had to tell my boss this morning that I'll need to take it easy at work today. I told her I'd be getting urgent stuff done but that I was exhausted from lack of sleep and also feeling lightheaded and dizzy. I feel like a bit of a failure really as started a new role this year which I've been really trying to do well in. I think I just need to rest today though

morphe · 20/01/2022 09:51

I slept really badly last night, but I had the afternoon off and ended up napping, so now my sleep cycle is out of sync.

@FateHasRedesignedMost we used footed rompers as I never heard about the squashed feet thing, but I can see it might be an issue. DD would always kick her socks/booties off, and her feet would get cold (even in summer) so it was just easier to use footed rompers or trousers until she was standing.

We had a Silver Cross with DD and I can really recommend their service - the frame broke and they sent a courier to collect it and repaired and returned it free of charge. It wasn't even in warranty by then, it had endured 2 years of daily use. But I think you need to buy it new for their warranty to be valid (and make sure you keep receipts!).

EastMidsGem · 20/01/2022 11:54

I've just started with back ache this morning and it's horrid (haven't had it since the end of the 1st trimester and now I'm 25 weeks). I'm hoping it's not going to be constant now as I can't seem to get comfy with my work laptop!

I have been waking up around 5-5.30 every morning to the baby kicking away which is lovely and exhausting!

Luckygreenduck · 20/01/2022 15:17

@aNewYorkerInLondon it was my sisters so I have had a go of pushing it with baby in. It think it felt really smooth and not too heavy but sturdy. With the bassinet on it is quite big but much smaller with the car seat or older child seat.
I think they are definitely good quality. We were fine to buy a new one but honestly cannot find anything wrong with the second hand one and its been in storage for 18 months. We are sending it back to silvercross for a clean but it would be fine with a home clean I am sure. I definitely think it would last you other children or be good to resell on when your done.

Had my "consultant meeting" today. My actual consultant had called in sick this morning so appointments were running late and we saw someone covering for them, who didn't know why we were there and then couldn't discuss it. He thought it was because I have family history of diabetes and so will need a glucose test. Well, that's already been booked, and I was there to discuss elective c-section. So after waiting for 2 hours all I gained was a note to give to reception saying I need a new appointment! 🤦‍♀️

KMHH · 20/01/2022 17:02

I've been for my midwife appointment today and she said there was traces of blood in my urine, it's not a huge concern right now, just wondered if anyone else has had this? She also suggested I maybe start maternity early with me doing 15 hour shifts so that would mean I finish work beginning of March. Which sounds lovely but it's the going back early also x

aNewYorkerInLondon · 20/01/2022 17:10

@GinnyBee, how frustrating!!

@KMHH, it could be a UTI - I had one early on and had NO symptoms at all until they tested my sample. If so, it'll be a simple course of antibiotics and you'll be on your way. :-)

aNewYorkerInLondon · 20/01/2022 17:11

@Luckygreenduck, thank you!! that's super helpful!

Kittycaz · 20/01/2022 17:55

I'm having back ache quite bad now too, I've started having to get up in middle of night for a wee (which disappeared when I hit 14 weeks but has reappeared now I'm almost 25 weeks) what preg pillows is everyone using? Mine is the L shaped one.

GinnyBee · 20/01/2022 18:06

@Kittycaz I have the Bbhugme and I'm completely in love with it!

Bubbasmama2017 · 20/01/2022 18:16

@GinnyBee that's very annoying!
I had one earlier this week too and they didn't seem to know why my midwife had requested it but I have an underactive thyroid and had preeclampsia after labour last time so she thought it was best to check things out. Everything seems fine this time around so hopefully I won't see her again.
I've always been struggling to sleep this week, I go to sleep ok but wake up a lot to change position and worry about things Grin
I've got a U shaped pillow which does help but it's quite large and cumbersome

YfenniChristie · 20/01/2022 18:23

@GinnyBee Thats infuriating. Hope you manage to get a new appointment soon!

@Kittycaz I have a U shaped pillow, and I love it. I'll have to check where it's from as my husband bought it for me for Xmas.

To add to my aching hip woes, I think I've pulled something in my side. I twisted to reach something behind me, and now paying the price for it. 🤦🏼‍♀️

fattycatty82 · 20/01/2022 18:34

@GinnyBee that's just ridiculous and I know how much you would have been anticipating your appointment too as I feel the same about mine at the end of Feb. Just want to get things sorted and put my mind at ease.

Well I've had the day from hell at work after so little sleep. Cried for most of it out of stress and exhaustion. Mat leave can't come soon enough! Hopefully tomorrow will be easier

itssquidstella · 20/01/2022 18:55

How infuriating, @GinnyBee!

I had a bad time at my spin class on Monday - I had to leave after ten minutes as my bump felt really uncomfortable every time I went from sitting to standing or vice versa. But I bought a bump band from Jojo Man Bebe and have just worn it to the same class, and it made such a difference! It was only £12 as well. I might even try a run wearing it this weekend and see how that feels - I’m hoping having it for exercise will stop me getting backache, as I’ve woken up with a really sore lower back for the last few days.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 20/01/2022 19:09

For anyone that’s done a virtual/zoom shower, what is the optimum number of guests?

I’m asking this for two reasons, one to benefit attendees and one that is entirely self-interested.

1	If there are too many people on a single video call, no one will know when to talk/there’ll be a lot of talking over others accidentally/ etc. All the annoying things about large video calls. I want people to have fun and that means keeping the numbers at a certain limit.
2	My parents have never met my in-laws. (We didn’t have a wedding and we all live very far apart.) my husband and I would really like to keep it that way, as his mother is a toxic nutcase that pushes into everyone’s lives. (His dad is awesome though!) So, his mother wants to throw a zoom shower for me, which is really kind, but I don’t want to have anyone from my side of the family on the invite list. If they are, my MIL will surely collect my family’s numbers and email addresses and harass them constantly. She lives to start trouble too, so that won’t be good. We can have a separate one for my side. I was hoping to use the excuse of too-many-people-on-a-zoom-call-is-miserable. Will I get away with this? They’ll probably meet at some point, but I’d like to kick that can as far down the road as possible. (We’ve avoided it for 10 years so far!!!)
Bubbasmama2017 · 20/01/2022 19:11

@itssquidstella please can you share a link I'm finding long walks and standing for a while really uncomfortable at the moment! Also would like to try and get running again, I've been putting it off with the slippy paths and ice we've had recently. Not convinced my running leggings will fit for much longer! I like ones with pockets on the side of the leg does anyone had any they can recommend?

OP posts:
Kittycaz · 20/01/2022 19:15

@aNewYorkerInLondon
I have the same issues with my MIL she met my mum at our wedding and God I thought my mum was gonna kill her so I've kept them apart since. So when ii had my gender reveal party I had a separate one for in laws to my family and made the excuse that it seems more intimate and nicer. I think I will be doing the same thing for my baby shower.

itssquidstella · 20/01/2022 19:16

@Bubbasmama2017 it's just this https://www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/maternity-belly-support-bands-b4732.html, but they also do an 'active' one which is specifically for sport. I needed one today though, so just grabbed what they had in stock.

mowglika · 20/01/2022 19:17

I’m not sure @aNewYorkerInLondon but whatever number she says you can just say you’ve done a zoom party with those numbers before and it was really difficult! It sounds like a nice idea in theory but it is difficult to manage

Has anyone managed to get a hold of their matb1 form before/outside of an antenatal appt? I really need it before my next appt at 26 weeks but my midwives won’t return my texts or calls, I guess it’s not urgent enough. Any advice on how to get hold of it?

fejkalove · 20/01/2022 19:25

Hi ladies, sorry I've been MIA a few days trying to get settled back in my hometown. Hope you're all well? Sorry to hear you're having some aches and pains.

I have to see a consultant because my BMI is over 35 but I'm yet to hear on the appointment though...is this something I need to chase up or should I mention it at my 24 week appointment in 2 weeks?

I had my meeting with HR today to discuss maternity entitlements etc have given my planned day of leave - eeeek!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 20/01/2022 19:35

@mowglika, I got my MAT B1 last week. I called the midwife hotline at my hospital (Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea) and they said I could come by during business hours and they'd fill one out for me then. That's what happened. It was a pain to get out there on a work day (took a half day that day), but I ran some other errands that day too so it wasn't a total waste.

Bubbasmama2017 · 20/01/2022 20:00

Thanks for the recommendations!

GinnyBee · 20/01/2022 20:19

Thanks all for the sympathy! I was pretty peeved, such a waste of time! If they hadn't been running so late I wouldn't have minded, but I wasted like 3 hours of my day on that trip. It seems like the consultant runs monthly clinics there so I know the date when my next appointment is supposed to be now, but as this one was already rescheduled from 6th January I'll believe it when it happens.

morphe · 21/01/2022 09:52

@GinnyBee so frustrating, I'm sure you want to get on with planning things by this stage. With NHS consultants it's often worth calling to try to get a cancellation, but if they only run monthly clinics then it might not be possible.

@aNewYorkerInLondon I think keeping the numbers down on zoom calls is sensible, both for your own reasons but I do think it gets a bit unmanageable with too many people.

I saw my consultant yesterday and I'm booked in for a diabetes test in a few weeks. I haven't had one in previous pregnancies but I read there's a higher risk for my ethnic group (Chinese). Have to admit I've been pretty relaxed with my sugar intake so I hope it doesn't show anything!
