Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

I woke up this morning and noticed my boobs were wet and so was bottom sheet think my boobs have started leaking. Freaked me out a little lol hopefully it means I have plentiful milk for LO once he's born.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/01/2022 09:24

@Kittycaz, inconvenient and uncomfortable as that may be, I think I would also hope that that means good things for your supply. I'm really hoping to EBF so my fingers are crossed for a good supply too! :-)

@fattycatty82 I had an ELCS with my DD and we had immediate skin to skin and no problems breastfeeding. We went home within 24 hours too. I have to have an ELCS due to previous medical issues, but to be honest I'm quite glad that it's the default option for me - just seems easier to plan around and no concerns about birth injuries.

@LS2020 I had some awful night time leg cramps a few weeks back, like it wouldn't go away for 10 mins! I've managed to dodge them now by making sure I keep my legs bent in bed.

@GinnyBee yep, I've had pelvic floor issues when sneezing. Need to keep up with the exercises!

@Jowd92 sorry to hear you have Covid and hope you get better soon. I don't know how I've managed to dodge getting it especially after flying long-haul recently.

fattycatty82 · 19/01/2022 12:02

@morphe that's really good to know. People seem to have such different experiences of c sections (good and bad) but it's nice hearing a positive one. I know the recovery won't be easy and definitely not a decision I'm taking lightly xx

RainbowTime · 19/01/2022 12:36

22+5 and I wanna get excited but still feels like so long to go!! Bought silver cross car seat and wave pram but my mum won’t let me bring it home (im 30 and married!!) as it’s bad luck until baby is home apparently… I thought I already had enough of that with fertility treatment/this being my 7th pregnancy and no live births yet… everyone else getting things ready? I so want to be excited but it’s dragging - absolutely not that I’m not appreciating every little kick but I just want baby here safe Flowers

Luckygreenduck · 19/01/2022 13:39

I have got a silvercross wayfayer, got it secondhand and will be sending to silvercross for a professional clean and getting a new car seat.
Its staying at my mums till the baby is born as my family has the same superstition that you cant have a pram in the house before a baby. I dont mind as it saves space.

Sarah239 · 19/01/2022 16:40

@MissM94 yeah he's wrong. If you are working for the company for a year, you should get minimum of 28 days off (whether or not this includes bank holidays normally, it doesn't really matter) I'd state clearly in an email "I am going to miss X bank holidays while on leave, this article states I am entitled to not miss out on bank holidays if I normally get them off" and link him to citizens advice www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/rights-at-work/parental-rights/rights-while-youre-on-maternity-leave/ that screenshot you sent is the same article

And you still accrue your normal paid leave while on maternity leave, so if you don't take it beforehand, you will still be entitled to it

Sarah239 · 19/01/2022 16:44

There's also this link for employers about leave (it mentions bank holidays being included) www.acas.org.uk/managing-your-employees-maternity-leave-and-pay/their-leave-pay-redundancy-and-dismissal-rights

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/01/2022 17:15

@Luckygreenduck, that's the pram we've selected but not yet purchased (for us it is a matter of waiting until we're in our new home - we don't have anyone here to hold it for us). I'd love to know what you think about it. We liked that it seems easy to manoeuvre in the city and that it folds nicely, but still has an overnight-sleeping carrycot, car seat, rain cover, winter bundle, etc. and a big basket beneath (do you think my Yorkie will ride in the basket? lol)

Have you gotten a chance to run it around your neighbourhood or anything?

YfenniChristie · 19/01/2022 17:36

@GinnyBee I've done this, but sneezed and peed. Luckily it was only a tiny bit but I was mortified.

My hips and lower bump are so ache-y today. Booked in for my 24-25 week appointment with my midwife, but can't see her til I'm 26 weeks - that should be ok right?

We also have an eventful weekend ahead of us. New boiler is getting fitted on Saturday (plumber confirmed it has died a death on Monday) and I get to have my Covid booster on Sunday. Whoo!

TashieWoo · 19/01/2022 20:52

@YfenniChristie that should be okay if you can’t see your midwife any earlier and don’t have any concerns, my 24 week appointment was a Doppler heartbeat check and a measure of my bump, I think the 28 week appointment is perhaps more time sensitive as it includes a blood test.

@RainbowTime I am getting a bit impatient too but enjoying my pregnancy much more now I’m a bit less anxious and can feel her moving regularly (I hope that continues and the lovely kicks keep getting stronger 💗). I’m feeling well and finally getting a bit of a glow which is also a plus!

Interesting superstition, I think I’ve heard that before, will be keeping the pram at my mum’s in that case! I haven’t chosen one yet but I’m looking at Cybex, Silver Cross, Venice and Uppababy at the moment, I need to go shopping to look in real life though.

Hi guys by

I
Just wandered if anyone had seen the updated guidance about pregnant employees? Apparently it's 26 weeks now not 28...

@YummyMummyXoX, thanks!!

is there a government / official link to this?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 19/01/2022 21:53

@YummyMummyXoX, thank you!!!

KMHH · 20/01/2022 02:37

I'm really struggling at the moment with sleeping, it's either really uncomfortable so I'm up all night, I have got 2 different pillows also to try and help but nothing, or I'm extremely nauseous with heartburn. I feel as though a lot of the first trimester symptoms are slowly coming back 🙈. It doesn't bother me too much however, this is the 4th night without sleep and I'm really feeling it! Haha x

RainbowTime · 20/01/2022 03:08

@KMHH same thing here, the indigestion is constant. I have prescribed peptac liquid but it makes no difference. I also feel like first trimester has come back to get me!! Confused

RainbowTime · 20/01/2022 03:09

@KMHH the back pain is the worst for me!

fattycatty82 · 20/01/2022 03:56

Loving these sleepless nights, and everyone keeps telling me to bank the sleep now before baby's here! I wish 😭 To be honest I'm not suffering from any physical symptoms so I'm lucky in that respect... it's my mind going overdrive thinking about every little thing

RainbowTime · 20/01/2022 04:38

@fattycatty82 that doesn’t sound good! I just end up buying too much stuff that I really shouldn’t… it’s not the best but it could be worse. Just my back making me restless. Xx

RainbowTime · 20/01/2022 04:39

@fattycatty82 is it baby that’s worrying you or other life stresses? Difficult as sleep deprivation sends the mind the overthinking route alone. Xx

fattycatty82 · 20/01/2022 05:00

@RainbowTime oh god I'd be bankrupt if I dabbled in online shopping right now! 😭 yes usually thinking about the birth, worrying about motherhood and stresses of work. I usually worry about how tired I'll be at work the next day and that's a viscous cycle! They say you should get up if you can't get back to sleep after certain amount of time but I usually just lie here staring at the wall or my phone 😂🤣 fun times xx

RainbowTime · 20/01/2022 05:08

Lol I know… I keep buying things… can’t help it… the insomnia just encourages it more!! Totally normal worries, I’m exactly the same, it’s mum school prep I think… it’s a really life changing time. Be kind to yourself xx

fattycatty82 · 20/01/2022 05:30

Thank you @RainbowTime, you too 🥰 xx

GinnyBee · 20/01/2022 09:03

I'm not sleeping well either. Really restless and my sternum aches when I lie on my left side, so have to keep changing sides and juggling the body pillow around. Last night my back wasn't giving me trouble, but it started to this morning when I took the dog out. Usually it hurts when I'm lying down and feels better when I move around but today it seems to be when I'm standing up! I have a massage booked for Saturday thank goodness, hoping that will help at least temporarily.
