Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

Sorry for double post. Midwife is sending me to hospital tomorrow morning for another scan as bump is still measuring 5 weeks ahead and they'd expect it to even itself out by now. Just to be safe then be sorry.

YummyMummyXoX · 22/03/2022 18:30

Hope everyone is doing ok today

Had growth scan midwife says growing beautifully and on perfect place on growth chart, I was prepared for blatantly off the chart with all the steroids I'm on tbh although I know not 100 accurate... Fluid, placenta and cord all good and she's still head down as she was 3 weeks ago. Weighing approximately 4lb13. She is soo cute covering her eyes AGAIN and pouting 😂
After everything I'm just so glad she is ok that's the main thing now. Had bloods taken so docs will update by phone tomorrow as no clinic on today. Just want to get my induction date next week so I can settle a little x

YfenniChristie · 22/03/2022 18:59

@Honeymint I'm sure I read somewhere that it's fine to sleep on your back as long as it's an incline, but can't remember where I found that info.

@Kittycaz The vivid dreams are something else aren't they? I woke up this morning livid with my sister as I dreamt she had run off to fight in Ukraine. Fingers crossed your scan goes well tomorrow!

H0peing · 22/03/2022 21:33

@Kittycaz I hope your scan goes really well tomorrow Xx

H0peing · 22/03/2022 21:35

@YummyMummyXoX So pleased for you that your growth scan went well and that her head is still down. Hope you get your induction date ASAP. Xx

TashieWoo · 23/03/2022 07:42

So glad your scan went well @YummyMummyXoX and good luck for your scan today @Kittycaz xx

GinnyBee · 23/03/2022 08:10

I had my second consultant approval for the c-section, so that's all going ahead now! 🥳 Felt a little unnecessary, I heard her jokingly say to the midwife in the room with her as I walked in "I wish she didn't have to send me these c-section approvals, if she's happy then I'm happy" and given how understaffed maternity services are, I totally get it. Not all trusts require two approvals, so doesn't seem essential, and even if they did need two, could it not have been done through notes from the first consultant and approved without wasting an appointment?

I also had a growth scan before seeing her, so we went over the scan, and I'll be having another again in two weeks! Head circumference and femur length are growing on the same 90th centile line, and last time his abdominal circumference was a little bit above which is why they wanted me to be scanned again yesterday due to concerns that I might have GD even though GTT was normal. Well, yesterday his tummy wasn't as tubby anymore, and that's now the reason they want to scan again in two weeks, to check his growth hasn't slowed down 🤦‍♀️ welp, I'll take every scan they offer! And it's again attached to a consultant appointment, when we will book in the c-section date, so I was going in anyway that day.

Weight estimate 2kg, which is 4lbs something. I don't understand pounds 🙃

fejkalove · 23/03/2022 11:59

I had a telephone call with the maternity medicine registrar this morning (I think this was initially booked as I have a high BMI) but have now been taken over by GD consultant who I'm meeting this afternoon. I just feel upset after coming off the phone; it seemed like nothing I said was the right answer. She asked if I was on aspirin for high BMI but I've not been prescribed this? And just simply said 'oh' back to me. Then she said we need to get you booked in for a growth scan due to your BMI/recent Covid as this can have issues on the placenta, then again when I said this was booked for next week at 32 weeks, she just said 'oh'. I can't help worrying this is something that needs to happen sooner now, but surely she'd have booked it in earlier if she was concerned?

Sorry ladies, rambling on!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 23/03/2022 12:13

Hi ladies! I've been offline for a while due to moving house. It was super stressful! We're in the new place, surrounded by boxes, but at least we're here. I've changed my maternity hospital to one closer to the new house and I'm SO much happier with my care so far. I wish I had changed months ago.

34 weeks today and at this point they're happy to let me go to 40 weeks, so that makes me happy.

Hope you're all doing well. The countdown is on!

Kittycaz · 23/03/2022 15:55

Hey everyone I had my scan LO is measuring week ahead again but they also noticed I have excess fluid its 27. So they've booked me in for GD test tomorrow morning and I gotta be rescanned in a week. They really worried me as midwife had to consult Dr and they had to scan me twice. They gonna check if I have any virus or infection aswell. They all kept saying you don't need to worry and rubbing my arms so naturally that's got me petrified x

YummyMummyXoX · 23/03/2022 19:35

Just catching up on the thread
So glad you have managed to move in time and are happy with your new care @aNewYorkerInLondon

Thinking of you @fejkalove
and @GinnyBee great news 💕

So my bloods have dropped again so got to have another infusion tomorrow in hospital there all day huff and they want me to have them weekly/fortnightly. Doctor says she darent leave me over the weekend. The infusions just don't work for longer than a few days so it's getting tedious repeating the same treatment
I really need an induction date next week and im hoping it's sooner rather than later. Tried to clear the worry of passing the condition to the baby or still dealing with this postpartum with a newborn and another kid for now guess I have to cross the bridges I'm currently at X

GinnyBee · 23/03/2022 19:50

That's so shit @YummyMummyXoX ! Have they given you any indication for how and when it might get better? Or do they even know?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 23/03/2022 19:56

Oh my gosh, @YummyMummyXoX, that awful. I hope they get a plan for you soon.

Thank you for your kind thoughts!

YummyMummyXoX · 23/03/2022 20:08

@GinnyBee they don't know if it will even after pregnancy. I just don't think they have it as well managed as I thought they did, this is what worries me there's no real plan it changes every week with every blood results I thought being referred to the specialists they could plan for all eventualities 🙈
I mean I've changed birthing hospitals 3 times to move to the 'better care'
@aNewYorkerInLondon your welcome I just happy things fell into place esp before baby arrived yay
xxx

Luckygreenduck · 24/03/2022 15:25

Back home and baby is still inside me just got to take things easy now. Isn't pregnancy a whirlwind!
Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the nice weather. It's certainly making staying at home more pleasant being able to sit in the garden. Hopefully the weather is as nice once our babies arrive :) x

JMill13 · 24/03/2022 16:42

Hi all

Just found you all. Hope you don't mind me dropping in. I'm due second baby on the 18th May (32 weeks currently) though I'm on track for an elective section after having an emergency section with my first in August 2020. Having regular growth scans to make sure she's growing well as my first stopped growing altogether between 36&38 weeks and was born at 4lb15 so they're hoping that doesn't happen again. Last appointment at 31 weeks baby girl was measuring big at 4lb6 so I'm a bit terrified she's going to be huge compared to her brother.

Hope you're all keeping well and aren't too uncomfortable. X

Sarah239 · 24/03/2022 18:15

Welcome @JMill13 ! 👋

I've had an odd couple of weeks, I think as we get closer I just pick up on little things and worry about them indicating a bigger problem but feeling ok now this week is coming to an end. Main thing is little one is in there still kicking away!

We also started our NCT classes this week which I am really enjoying. Everyone is still a bit shy but I hope we can become friends, we seem to have a good bunch! It is more aligned with the hypnobirthing course than I was expecting though, lots of similar ideas.

@aNewYorkerInLondon i had been thinking of you, I'm so glad you found a new place and sound happier! What a stressful few weeks you have had.

@YummyMummyXoX I'm so sorry for all the stress and treatment you are going through. I can't remember the actual root of the issue that started all this, was it that your blood cells are sort of attacking eachother and weakening your immune system? Do you have a diagnosis as such? I so hope that you get that induction date soon and that you do have a swift recovery! Sending hugs.

@fejkalove You didn't say the wrong answer, don't worry. All you can do is relate the care you've been given up til now - if this new person disagrees with it that is not your fault! Phone conversations are so odd sometimes and some people have no "phoneside" manner I find! You've got a growth scan booked in which is the main thing... it does sound like you are getting mixed messages from different practitioners so all I can advise is... everything you are worried about, write a list and ask at your next appointment so you can get clear answers. If what they say is confusing follow-up on it, ask them to clarify if they say "oh" again - "what do you mean, does that matter? Should that have been done earlier?" etc. I know you may already be doing these things! If you're concerned and anxious then call triage or midwife if you have any outstanding questions.

@GinnyBee I am glad you got your elective c-section, congratulations :)

Sarah239 · 24/03/2022 18:18

I knew I'd forgotten something...

@Luckygreenduck ahh I'm glad you are home again and little one is still hanging out in there! Must have been a fright and a stressful time. Hopefully you can keep cooking with some good rest now x

And @Kittycaz I hope all the results are ok... naturally the first thing you do when someone says "try not to worry" is worry! It's like saying "Don't think of the colour pink"... well... did you have a scan for GD before now and they are repeating it?

I feel like my bump has got massive this week but might just be a change in position!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 24/03/2022 18:34

Hi @Sarah239! Thank you!

My group in NCT is really nice too. I don't know how long they'll be staying in the area, but it'll be nice to have them here while we do.

I think it's normal to worry about things like "does that feel right?" all the way to the end. I feel like I can tell the difference in my own head between worrying that something might go wrong and actually having that awful feeling that something is wrong. (if that makes sense) it's that second feeling that we should always listen to.

Welcome @JMill13!!

YummyMummyXoX · 24/03/2022 20:04

Hey @JMill13 welcome ❤️

Got back from hospital at 6pm back tomorrow all afternoon. Sounds like they want me in weekly now and the treatment will take a day and a half every week....
Sarah239 the root cause was the way my immune system reacted to the vaccine had blood test at conception before and after Covid all fine, after my vaccine started having symptoms and various defective blood results... now I've got this blood disorder. Feel like a parrot but the haematologist said I'm not the first pregnant woman to react like this in their care and some were much further than me when they developed the disorder but we know of so many people that have had it and been ok.
Shower and bed soon although I've insomnia from all these steroids 😂 10 tablets a day eek x

Sarah239 · 24/03/2022 20:25

Oh goodness @YummyMummyXoX I don't think I processed (or had forgotten) that it began after you had the vaccine 😔 I'm so sorry about that. All I can say is hang in there and vent here whenever you need to. I really admire how you are coping with it all and still finding positives where you can, amongst the obvious and very understandable lows! ❤️

@aNewYorkerInLondon yes I definitely agree that I sort of can tell when the worry is my anxiety vs something actually wrong. But even then I do second guess!

YummyMummyXoX · 24/03/2022 20:43

@Sarah239 I do rant every mum just wants to feel safe and their baby to be safe I'm very grateful she is ok after HG from weeks 6 - 21ish, having Covid, then all this. She's a tough girl 🙂
We're all going through it just in different ways, honestly can't wait to be hearing some waters going and contractions starting very soon I want them all here safe and sound 💕💕

Luckygreenduck · 24/03/2022 22:03

Has anyone elses boobs started leaking (sorry if I have missed anyone saying this already). Obviously knew it would happen at some point but finding it very strange! Hopefully a good sign they are working but definitely feeling like my body isnt fully mine now.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 24/03/2022 22:22

I have another US vs UK question:

In the US, the hospitals load new mothers up with disposable underwear, ice packs, nappies, creams, breast pads, etc. So much so that many people recommend bringing a extra empty bag to carry all the supplies home. They also say not to bother with bringing several days' of clothes and just wear hospital gowns until it's time to go home.

I get the feeling that this is not the case here with the NHS. Am I correct?

Also, we have this checklist from the NHS: www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/labour-and-birth/preparing-for-the-birth/pack-your-bag-for-labour/

How accurate have you all found this to be?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 24/03/2022 22:24

@Luckygreenduck , no sign of leaks for me yet, but I think I'd consider that a good sign, even if a bit annoying.
