Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

I'm having swollen feet to, it's to do with the extra weight from LO what my mum said but I mainly get it if I've been on my feet all day.
I've got a few covid tests packed away from when they were just handing them out at shopping centre in November lol.
My legs cramp to mainly when I'm in bed. Good thing I found when sleeping always make sure your toes are not pointing down as this can make it worse
On C sections, this is gonna be my 1st baby and I would like to go down the natural route (no pain relief either as heard different things about them) but I've allready been warned by consultant and midwife that I may have to have c section for a number of things (my medical history, family history) but at end of the dy whatever is safest for my LO.

Just a fun question but what's the first thing you are gonna eat/ drink after your LO is born that you wasn't allowed or was restricted when pregnant.
I think molten cookie dough, and a large full fat cherry Coke. (have to wait another 6 mths for my 1st gin as breast feeding)

YummyMummyXoX · 12/03/2022 09:26

@Kittycaz my ankles really swelled last time I was restricted to flip flops for like the last 2 months couldn't get into any shoes! It was the same even if I'd been off them, cardiovascular system and fluid retention in pregnancy soo much fun 🙊.
I usually have diet or zero drinks but ocssionally have full fat too I'm naughty lol I eat whatever I want day to day as I couldn't for 4 months and lost 2 stone so now my appetites back and I've just got back to my pre pregnancy weight I'm enjoying the pleasures food brings. Its really helped cheered me up with all the drama going on.
I plan to BF and FF if have a night off il try to express or use formula. God it's all getting super real. Is anybodies bags and babies bags packed can't remember if I saw some were x

Kittycaz · 12/03/2022 09:39

@YummyMummyXoX I've packed my baby's bag he's got 5 outfits in there just incase and also I'm torn what to put him in to bring him home as it will be first time my mum will meet her 1st grandchild. A knitted blanket I made for him. Nappies, water wipes and cotton wool, baby towel, I've got an ice bag in there to for when I express before birth to take some breast milk with me just incase. Gonna pack my hospital bag next week and my we are having a bag for my husband to with a change of clothes just incase but I will also be putting snacks and lucozade in his bag to. It feels super real now. I'm so excited he's wriggling under my ribs at the moment. It's amazing how you can love someone so much that you've never met before x

YummyMummyXoX · 12/03/2022 10:02

@Kittycaz
Mines pretty much done just need some comfy clothes to come home in and my toiletries/skincare.
I didn't know what outfits to choose cos have quite a few up to 3m so packed 5 baby grows in diff sizes and like 2 newborn outfits so there's plenty. She's got the cutest little sister baby grow and my son and her have a matching big bro little sister set for a 1st photo that I can put in album. Beyond excited for him to see her cos I'm an only child I'm just really happy for him to have a sibling ❤️ x

Kittycaz · 12/03/2022 10:19

Awww that sounds adorable @YummyMummyXoX bet your little boy is so excited to meet her. ❤️

YummyMummyXoX · 12/03/2022 10:43

@Kittycaz ❤️

I've had 2 funny turns this morning was only washing up was meant to be having like a day date with my son honestly I don't even feel like I could put the mugs away and get a shower 🙈 x

itssquidstella · 12/03/2022 11:32

My husband has already promised to make me a huge medium rare rib eye steak and pour me a large glass of Pinot noir for my first night at home after giving birth! I’m hoping to breastfeed but I’m comfortable with having a few drinks anyway; I don't think it's necessary to abstain totally.

GinnyBee · 12/03/2022 11:49

I think I’ll be having a super cheese board and champagne! I’m the same as @itssquidstella that I don’t think the odd drink will hurt even though I hope to breastfeed. If I time it right after a feed and don’t go overboard it’ll be fine. A friend of mine followed the rule that as long as you can still hold your glass without spilling you’re safe to breastfeed but I don’t think I’ll be quite so relaxed 😂

itssquidstella · 12/03/2022 11:51

Haha @GinnyBee a colleague of mine said as long as you're not seeing double, it's probably okay! I don't think I'll take it quite that far, though...but equally I don't believe that one or two glasses of wine over the course of an evening is going to do any harm.

YummyMummyXoX · 12/03/2022 12:25

@itssquidstella @GinnyBee love that! Do miss a cocktail or a cider 😂 I've been having mocktails and alcoholic free cider at home or if I go for some food they are fab!!! X

Kittycaz · 12/03/2022 12:51

@fejkalove how has it been since you tested positive. I've just tested positive and am now freaking out a little. I've not got any symptoms yet. My husband has though he tested first then I after him. He's really poorly with it.

Luckygreenduck · 12/03/2022 18:05

Very excited for a drink or two and some brie! I am going to breastfeed but feel happy drinking from my research. I wouldn't want to get 'drunk' in charge of my baby anyway but a drink or two I am comfortable with.
I am most looking forward to a nice cocktail out with my partner but that will probably be a while after as I am in no rush to leave the baby with anyone else

Jowd92 · 12/03/2022 19:02

Anyone else had any nose bleeds I’ve had 6 in the last 3 days never had them before apparently it can be normal in pregnancy but ive never had them before wondering if I should be worried ?

I’ve had the noseeeds, it’s awful isn’t it? I was put on aspirin for low Papp-A and about two weeks ago now I started getting nosebleeds so bad I ended up in and out of a&e and hospital for most of the week. In the end they cauterised my nose, which wasn’t too bad. The only thing I would say is, if they cauterise it, whatever you do stick to the recommendations. I didn’t the first time and ended up back in to have it done again. (I only bent over to pick up a laptop but that was enough to do it!) I think so long as you’re not on blood-thinners it should be completely fine. My midwives told me so many times how common pregnancy nosebleeds are, mine only got so bad because of the blood-thinners 🤦‍♀️

@itssquidstella
That sounds so excellent! I’ve been craving a rare steak for the entire pregnancy so I’m hoping to go out somewhere nice and get a good one as soon as I can.

Honeymint · 12/03/2022 19:33

@Jowd92
Also on nosebleeds, I was told to avoid: hot drinks, eating hot or spicy things, hot showers or baths and bending my head lower than my heart.
Maybe a few days of taking it really easy and avoiding those things will allow the blood vessels time to heal up?
Otherwise a referral to the ENT for cauterisation might be worth it if it’s getting unmanageable.

YummyMummyXoX · 12/03/2022 19:37

@Jowd92 I've had nose bleeds they are common in pregnancy like you say as the head is very vascular. But just look out for any other symptoms along with the bleeds as mine was combined with mouth ulcers and bruising which then lead to finding out about the new blood disorder. If it was just the nose bleeds on the their own I don't think it would've been discovered for a while.
I do hope you and bump are ok.
@fejkalove @Kittycaz I hope you are both ok with Covid I had it at 9 weeks and bet it is not pleasant having it so late on. I'm hoping you can take it easy and drink plenty and you know to contact out of hours if you start to deteriorate thinking of you Xx

Jowd92 · 12/03/2022 20:52

I am on the blood thinning injections also low dose aspirin so maybe that is why will mention it to my midwife when I next see her

GinnyBee · 12/03/2022 21:08

I’ve had a few nosebleeds, and am also on aspirin so that can’t be helping. They only last a while though, usually starts when I blow my nose first thing in the morning as I keep getting stuffy overnight and a wad of TP up my nose whilst I get dressed to take the dog out sorts it out. Once though I didn’t get a bleed at all but blew a clot out 🤷🏼‍♀️ So I must have had a bleed but it never actually came out my nose, that I thought was weird.

Kittycaz · 12/03/2022 21:41

@Luckygreenduck I've not seen much research on breastfeeding and having a drink can u put up a link to some. I wouldn't drink heavily round baby anyway just it would be nice after he's born and asleep to have a gin before bed like a night cap. Specially since my birthday is 6 weeks after baby is due. I can't wait for a cocktail though. I think when my LO is six months I may leave him with my mum for an ecening while me and DH have a cocktail together. But I wouldn't wanna leave his side straight away or anything like that.
On nosebleeds I get them all the time even before getting pregnant (due to fact I broke my nose as a toddler and it never healed properly) never as much to go hospital or anything. But have noticed they have gone up a little last few weeks. It's more fluid and less thick if that makes sense.

Luckygreenduck · 12/03/2022 23:05

@Kittycaz sorry I don't have a link but am mainly going off a book I have read call the positive breastfeeding book. In that it says that your breast milk matches your blood alcohol levels. So to be over the drink driving blood level it is 0.08% and actual drink would be 0.05% to be considered alcohol free. So basically your milk is still alcohol free when you moderately drink. In order to drink enough for it to start affecting your milk you would need to be putting yourself under huge danger and drinking huge amounts. I don't think I have explained that very well but basically it said that very little transfers into your milk so it wouldnt affect baby. I think it said something like it is almost physically impossible to get it up to the levels of low alcohol beer.

Also interestingly it says there is no need to 'pump and dump' because even if you heavily drink your body continues to metabolise any alcohol in your milk as it does in your blood. So it breaks it down for you in time.

All that been said I think it's perfectly valid to not feel comfortable drinking and also I definitely wouldn't want to be caring for a baby drunk at all.

Luckygreenduck · 12/03/2022 23:07

Definitely haven't explained that well! Would recommend the book though haha.

morphe · 12/03/2022 23:39

@Kittycaz I have packed half my hospital bag but I've probably put too many baby clothes in there so I need to repack and add more stuff for me in there. My previous births I went home the next day, but friends have ended up staying weeks sometimes so it's hard to know how much to pack! Though I guess DH would always go home and bring more clothes in if needed.

@Jowd92 I've had some blood when blowing my nose, I thought it was more down to air pollution to be honest, glad to know it's probably down to pregnancy! It is not actually bleeding though so it hasn't bothered me.

@Luckygreenduck I'm having a c-section for medical reasons, it's not advised for me to attempt a vaginal delivery. I'm quite happy with that as I had a c-section with my DD and had no issues with the birth or recovery, although obviously I needed to take it easy afterwards. I think at this stage it's best to be open to both types of delivery, until you hear otherwise at 35 weeks. At my 32 week scan last week, they said my placenta was low and they couldn't tell if it was covering my cervix, but it still might move before the birth. But it doesn't matter much since I'm having a c-section anyway.

@GinnyBee So pleased you had your c-section confirmed with no issues. I'd certainly say my c-section was calm and stress-free, although the planned date got messed up as I went into labour with DD the day before the scheduled date, so it ended up being categorized as an emergency c-section and I had to have it the night before instead. That was all fine, although I suspect I would have got a better consultant doing a daytime op than an emergency evening one. This time around I'm going to properly rest in the days before the scheduled date to try to avoid going into labour!

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 13/03/2022 07:09

@luckygreenduck - I had a follow-up scan on Friday and they confirmed my placenta has moved out of the way since previous scan. Will they be checking yours again?

I was also told baby is 1960g at 32weeks. This is my 3rd baby but I've never been told the weight in utero - seems chunky since my other 2 were born at just over 3kg and this one still has 8 weeks of cooking to do.

Was also told he has lots of hair while my other 2 were born like eggs - quietly hoping this one might look like me as our other 2 are clones of their father!

Kittycaz · 13/03/2022 08:21

@Luckygreenduck ah I see so like a 4% cider wouldn't make your breast milk 4% ill have to have a nosey online and get some more info. To be honest I've heard that sometimes orange juice can have more alcohol in than 0.05% alcohol free drinks. Thanks.

Bubbasmama2017 · 13/03/2022 09:48

Hi everyone sorry for being off the radar again life has been taking over! With the drinks and cheese chat I would really recommend reading Expecting Better by Emily Oster, it gives facts and stats on why things might be risky and why they aren't and it's really helped me be more relaxed with food and drinks this pregnancy and I have caffeine most days and even had a small glass of wine last weekend.
I think I might have had some of my mucus plug come away last night has this happened to anyone else? I'm 31 weeks so seemed early but googled it and apparently that can happen.
Sorry to hear about the GD Results of some of you, I had glucose found in my urine last week but have had the GTT at 28 weeks and it was negative so I'm hoping I won't be finding out in a couple of weeks I have it too. Anxiety has been quite bad.
Sorry for the long post not been on for a while!
