Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@fejkalove What a nightmare! Have they arranged an alternative way to show you how to inject insulin yet? Teams / Zoom or something? I've found drinking water when I wake up at night and having a variety of nuts as an evening snack helpful for my fasting levels but I've been told by my midwife that fasting levels can be impossible to control without medication. I hope you get everything you need ASAP. I imagine it's really scary to have Covid in the third trimester but I know lots of women who have and both they and their babies are well, including my friend's healthy baby girl who was recently born at just over 40 weeks. I hope you make a really swift recovery from Covid! Xx

H0peing · 10/03/2022 01:06

@autumn321 Welcome to the GD club! Seems to be a few of us in this group with it. Thankfully, there's not long to go for us now! One of my friend's found out she had GD just before Christmas, which seems like the worst time to find out to me! I hope you can get lots of helpful advice from your GD team. Xx

H0peing · 10/03/2022 01:08

@hyggeandhugs Glad your private scan went well. Xx

H0peing · 10/03/2022 01:13

@YummyMummyXoX How many weeks are you? Did they say what caused the bleeding? Hoping they will provide all that you and your baby need ASAP. Xx

H0peing · 10/03/2022 01:19

Can't sleep! Anyone have any tips for getting to sleep? Xx

YummyMummyXoX · 10/03/2022 04:10

@H0peing almost 31! The bleedings due to my blood levels dropping again despite numerous infusions and meds I've got another 8 hours of infusion today just for them to usually drop again in a few days... I'm under two hospitals now as the specialist consultants are working out what exactly they're plan is in the coming weeks and delivery. I bleed and bruise from various places, have bad faint spells where I just want to collapse and get ulcers when they drop next to nothing. My immune response just won't return to its functions prior to my vaccine, I've just reacted in an awkward way unfortunately it's just about managing it for delivery especially if I need another epi or god forbid EMCS.
I've started to stop going out by myself now unless I'm at the hospital or doing school runs because when I go off it's scary on my own.
I also can't sleep well at night side effects of my meds even though I take on a morning 🙃

Im so sorry to hear about the GD issues I can only imagine how frustrating it all is. I think your doing amazing changing your diets and lifestyles as heavily pregnant women and doing what's best for your babies. We're all just getting by on this journey and you ladies inspire me on here to keep going, not long left now until we have our munchkins safe and sound 💖

GinnyBee · 10/03/2022 08:14

@H0peing Nope, no tips or tricks here but I sympathise! I wake up pretty much every night around 2-4am and then stay awake for 2-3 hours. Sometimes I can't find a reason for why I've woken up, other nights it might be my dog making a noise, which I used to be able to sleep through but not anymore, and last night I was absolutely BOILING when I woke up. Now I feel super groggy, thank god I'm in my office job today 😴

Kittycaz · 10/03/2022 08:49

Morning ladies, I had a bad night last night. I felt really exhausted at 10pm and went straight to sleep which was good then around midnight I jolted awake as my LO decided to kick a nerve in my lower tummy and it was really hurting so I turned over so he'd stop and he claimed down a bit but still poking the side. Then at 2am my neighbour who lives below me decided it was a good time to argue with his missus but the thing is... He likes an audience. First off he slammed his bedroom and front door repeatedly and they scream at each other. Then they must have thought screaming at each other outside my bedroom window was the smartest decision. Then repeated the routine of slam door go outside argue, slam door argue in bedroom until around 4am. Bearing in mind I have ear plugs and put em in just after they started but they're that loud. The slamming was shaking my bedroom. I finally started drifting off after they stopped then LO started kicking me hard in bladder. So off to toilet I go. At this stage I just gave up. For last few hours I've just had TV on staring and so angry. I'm really debating drilling holes in my bedroom wall this morning to make sure they're awake too 😂 sorry for the rant but really wound me up. If they do it again I'm ringing police on them god forbid they do it when LO is here I think I will actually go mental at them.
Hope everyone is OK this morning my app says I have 57 days left til 40 weeks which doesn't seem to far at all am so excited x

Hello everyone, I've not posted for a while. I've been busy with more appointments and had some general moodiness.

@autumn321 sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with GD too. Last week I saw my consultant who said my bump measured bigger, so I was quite worried about that after my GD diagnosis, but yesterday I had a 32 week scan and that showed baby on the 50th centile so it's looking much better now.

I'm struggling with the diet, I have to admit. Managing to stick to mealtimes but I've always been an emotional eater, so when I get moody I go straight for sugary treats. I keep telling myself it's only a few more weeks, it shouldn't be so hard!

@fejkalove hope you feel OK and the injections aren't too horrible. I might be put on metformin although that was before my scan yesterday.

@Luckygreenduck don't worry about feeling guilty if you want to buy nice things for your baby! If you have the space I found it's easier to just accept any donations, it's often useful to have spares of things anyway (for upstairs/downstairs/at gran's house).

@Kittycaz those neighbours sound annoying! You'll be getting your own back in a few months with a crying baby at night though! I've been struggling to sleep for the past week and it's really frustrating, there's been nothing keeping me awake but I've just been lying there and not managing to sleep, and then feeling exhausted when I have to get up.

Kittycaz · 10/03/2022 15:27

On bright side got my heath visitor letter today. They coming on 7th April to see me. Does anyone know what happens at these?

YummyMummyXoX · 10/03/2022 15:38

Kittycaz my letter came yesterday! It's for 12th April I've asked to rearrange as it's school holidays and I'll be busy with my son. I never saw them before, thought it was more social and health support rather than more medical like midwife apps x

H0peing · 11/03/2022 00:26

@YummyMummyXoX Yes, not long now! I'm 31 weeks too. It seems like you're having a horrendous time! I read that babies have a 95% chance of survival even as early as 31 weeks and that babies born at 34 weeks have the same survival rate as those born at full term. Obviously, I hope we all go as far as at least full term at 37 weeks but it's good to know that our babies are almost 100% ready to meet us! I hope you can get some help with the school run / have an adult with you during it. Loads of love. Xx

YummyMummyXoX · 11/03/2022 05:04

@H0peing I was thinking the same and just praying to get as close to 37 weeks+ as possible. I feel more scared now when I get twinges or something happens to me when I'm out as it's still so early. Just gotta take it as easy as possible although I'm back and forth with all my apps lol x

Sarah239 · 11/03/2022 06:27

I personally was born at 32 weeks ... over 30 years ago! I believe my mum's waters broke at 31 weeks, then she was on bedrest for a week in hospital and then had an EMCS as I got cord wrapped round my neck and heart rate dropped.

But once out I was fine, I had one night where I needed oxygen but by the next day I was stable. Stayed in the NICU for 4 weeks but no health problems xx

EastMidsGem · 11/03/2022 09:31

@Kittycaz and @YummyMummyXoX I got a letter saying that due to covid, they are still not doing health visitor visits pre-birth in our area. The first time I'll see them is 7-14 days after the baby is born. I thought maybe that would be the same everywhere!

I've been getting quite severe mood swings recently and feeling quite down. Can't really pinpoint why! On the plus side, I've reserved a car for us to go look at on Saturday

Kittycaz · 11/03/2022 09:39

@EastMidsGem this is letter I received. To be honest I thought they wouldnt do the home visit either. But even my midwife said she wants to do my 36 week appt at my home to. X

Has anyone requested a C-section?

My situation is that my placenta is covering my cervix. I have been told it's likely I will need a C-section. At first I was gutted about this, I am very into yoga and was keen to do hynobirthing and generally try and do things as natural as possible. I have come round to the idea and realise firstly theost important thing is getting my baby out safely and secondly it's much better to have it planned rather than emergency.
The issue is that they will only confirm when I am 35 weeks if I need a C-section and honestly it's making me anxious. Do I start learning and preparing for natural birth in case?
Realise this is a first world problem but I get anxious and really wanted to get in the right mindset for birth. I am wondering if asking for a C-section regardless will help? But then ideally I would prefer a vaginal birth.

YummyMummyXoX · 11/03/2022 16:04

@EastMidsGem Awh it's good you have something to look forward to at the weekend love a new car. Pregnancy and hormones can do funny things to us please talk with us or friends family if you need to ❤️

@Luckygreenduck sorry I haven't had a section but can totally empathise with how your feeling. I was offered a plan section but declined unless they strongly advise I need one not just I can have one if I wish. I've seen and been involved in sections at work everyone knows they come with their own set of risks.

More appointments come through for specialist midwives and consultants at another specialist hospital I've 6 in the next 3 weeks currently 🙃 xx

Sarah239 · 11/03/2022 18:02

Sending positive thoughts and wishes to all those going through a tough time at the moment. Pregnancy is no joke is it! @fejkalove I hope you are doing ok with covid. @YummyMummyXoX you have been through the ringer but glad they are keeping monitoring you! Wishing you a smooth 3rd trimester.

I'm ok, just feeling heavy and big now and the tiredness is really setting in. I've been waking up so early and can't get back to sleep so just been starting work early (wfh). I don't mind it once I'm up but I am very tired early evening. Then seem to get a second wind and end up going to bed late! And repeat... @Kittycaz I am sorry about your neighbours!

@EastMidsGem my mood is quite overwhelming too! It's a difficult, nervy time and the current state of world affairs aren't exactly helping my mental state either, just feel awful and helpless when I watch the news (which I know is nothing compared to the people living it). I've got 5 weeks left of work and it's weird, I feel like my brain has latched on to work stress again after not letting it get to me for the last few months, almost like the impending baby/life change and everything else going on in the world is too much to contemplate and work is easier to think about. I think it's that I don't want to feel like I'm leaving loose ends. But I raised some concerns with my superior about my work schedule for the lat weeks and that I didn't think I was going to make the deadlines, I am glad I did as they've now reshuffled things to give me a bit of breathing room.

@Luckygreenduck I can totally understand how you feel. Though not the same, I have scoliosis and was told right at the start of pregnancy I should get a hospital appt to assess any spine risk were I to have a epidural/spinal block (though I am hoping not to have one!). They said they would arrange an appointment around 34 weeks and I wouldn't hear anything before then so I just feel that I don't really know what the implications of that might be. If it turns out I can't have an epidural/block then, if I were to need a caesarean i assume they'd have to put me under general, which would break my heart to miss my little one's birth! But I was born that way with my mum asleep and dad in another room... main thing as you say is they get here safe as poss. I am hoping I'm low risk anyway as my spine has actually been a lot better than I was expecting through pregnancy! It's just that unknown/limbo isn't it. I really hope you get a definitive answer soon. I guess in the meantime you should try and prepare mentally for both outcomes/types of delivery?

Sarah239 · 11/03/2022 19:55

Also... is anyone else's feet swelling up? Mine did the other day then went down again once I elevated after a couple of days. Just noticed it again tonight!

Also been waking up with sudden leg cramp and foot cramp and having to dance around the room!

EastMidsGem · 11/03/2022 20:20

Thanks @YummyMummyXoX and @Sarah239 I do agree about the invasion of Ukraine - it is worrying thinking about possible outcomes. I think my main issue is that I've long since finished work for maternity and so I'm spending most of my days home alone. If I do try to get out and have a wander or go to the shops, I get tired so quickly that I struggle.

EastMidsGem · 11/03/2022 20:21

And yes @Sarah239 my ankles have been swelling up when I'm on my feet a bit. I plan to tell the midwife at my appointment Monday but like you, I just elevate them and they go back down

MissM94 · 11/03/2022 23:26

@Sarah239 my feet are so badly swollen! They don't even go away after a few hours anymore, it takes the whole night! Haha feeling very fat and swollen atm 😂

SouthwestSis · 12/03/2022 05:38

Is anyone else stocking up on lateral flow tests before they stop being free at the end of the month?

Do you think people visiting you in 3rd trimester will be happy to lateral flow before you meet them indoors?

GinnyBee · 12/03/2022 06:42

@Luckygreenduck I’m having an elective c-section. For me personally the complications of c-section are a lot less unappealing as complications of vaginal delivery and as a first timer I’m at least 43% likely to have some complication, probably more since I’m also 35. I’d much rather deal with a wound infection than fecal incontinence. I also definitely don’t want to end up labouring for hours, causing distress to baby, end up needing forceps or even emergency caesarean, resulting in a screaming infant with a stiff neck and cranial pressure. If I knew I could avoid all of that I’d go the natural route but no one can promise me that. So c-section it is. More certainty of what will happen.

I think if you want a natural birth then best to be prepared in case your placenta moves but also make peace with the possibility that you may need a caesarean, and planned c-section are generally really straightforward, calm and stress free.
