Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@H0peing Oppo is just a brand of lower carb ice cream, I buy it in tesco.
I was a big carb lover so the GD diet was a big adjustment for me but keeping my baby safe gave me all the motivation I needed, that and not wanting to push out a 4kg+ baby!
I managed to keep my GD diet controlled only and didn't need medication which meant they were happy to let me go until 40 weeks until inducing labour (and in the end I went into spontaneous labour at 39+5).
You may still be allowed a water birth if your hospital have wireless monitoring and you can keep your GD diet controlled too!

H0peing · 18/02/2022 21:47

@SouthwestSis Thank you so much for all of your helpful information!Smile Any recommendations for where to get ideas for GD diet? Any book in particular or a website? What kind of labour did you have in the end? It's really encouraging to hear about your success with the GD diet! Xx

H0peing · 18/02/2022 21:51

@GinnyBee I've not been affected by the storm near me, thankfully. Sorry to hear that you had to eat a cold dinner! Hope things return to normal in your area soon. Xx

fejkalove · 18/02/2022 21:52

@YfenniChristie

Just come back from the growth scan. Everything looking really good, they're happy with how everything is looking at the moment. Also confirmed that my diabetes test was clear, as is my iron levels. Has to have my blood pressure taken four times to get it to a reasonable level though!

Interestingly though, they have now stated that I have an anterior placenta! Which has answered a couple of questions on my end (movements occasionally feeling muffled), and really intrigued that it's only been picked up at 28 weeks.

Sorry to be nosey....is it standard at growth scans to have BP etc checked? I didn't know this, I have my first growth scan booked in for 32 weeks.
YfenniChristie · 18/02/2022 22:15

@fejkalove I have no idea! I wasn't expecting it but I also wasn't surprised considering my blood pressure is consistently on the high side of normal.

They did also ask if I had a urine sample (I didn't) but they decided I didn't have to provide one as I'm seeing the community midwife on Thursday anyway!

Thank you for letting me know! I have no idea what to expect as I haven't even got an appointment to meet the consultant, just my midwife booked me a growth scan in!

MissM94 · 19/02/2022 05:36

Morning 👋🏽 nice 5am start today after my pelvis popped very loudly as I attempted to roll over 😂 so my boyfriend cuddled me and started stroking my belly which inevitably woke baby boy up who then had a right party in my womb.. Happy Saturday ♥️😂

GinnyBee · 19/02/2022 08:38

@fejkalove I've had my BP taken at every appointment - midwife or scan. I'd assume it'll be taken again at every appointment. I haven't had a growth scan though.

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 19/02/2022 08:53

@GinnyBee - the storm got bad here, my visit to the maternity hotel got cancelled which was a shame, but don't think I'd have been driving anyway! I'll re-schedule for this week hopefully. At least we didn't lose power, glad yours wasn't out too long!

Kittycaz · 19/02/2022 08:55

@GinnyBee it's not been to bad here (Midlands) I did lose a bra though was doing washing and I don't tumble dry my bras so put it on windowsill not even thinking with baby brain and the wind just sucked it right out of the window lol.
Ooo @MissM94 mine did that other day when I turned over god it hurt so bad my little boxer just punched my right hand side all night.

4d scan today so excited my DH found out we can have guests so he's invited MIL but I don't mind nothing can distract me from seeing LOs face. Any tips to getting best pics? Been drinking 6 pints of water a day for the last week.

MissM94 · 19/02/2022 11:09

@Kittycaz isn't it sore! So loud aswell, does it every time I move 😂 I've got my 4D scan tomorrow I'm so excited so I can only imagine how giddy you are! How many weeks are you? I'm 28 today so officially in the third trimester 😁

Kittycaz · 19/02/2022 11:14

@MissM94 I'm 28+6. The time is going so slow though my LO is moving allot this morning so I bet during the scan he will be quiet and asleep 😂 x

MissM94 · 19/02/2022 11:18

@Kittycaz I know what you mean 😂 I'm scared my boy will be facing my spine so they won't be able to do the scan, he's been head down so they couldn't do measurements at my 20 week scan, he was lay down on his front on his belly at the re scan so couldn't get a picture of him so his track record isn't great so I just hope he's facing the right way looking beautiful haha I've dug out baby pics of me and my partner so I'm dying to know if he's got his lovely features instead of mine 😂 x

SouthwestSis · 19/02/2022 13:23

No worries @H0peing
I found the gestational diabetes UK website really good, and the associated faceB group.
They have a subscription service where you can pay for access to GD friendly recipes also.
I didn't bother with that, once I had git my head around how to do low carb meals and pair any carbs with something with higher fat/protein content then I was sorted.
I was pretty happy with my labour, went into hospital around 3cm, used gas & air initially, asked for the epidural around 5cm as I was progressing quite quickly (went from 3cm to fully dilated in 5hrs as a first time mum).
I needed forceps at the end as they realised baby's head was not in an ideal position after about 70 mins of pushing.
Had the forceps done in theatre in case they needed to switch to c section as baby was showing some signs of distress on the CTG monitor, but we got him out with forceps and episiotomy in the end (they just topped up my epidural so I only felt pressure and not pain).
Then they handed me a beautiful baby boy!

Kittycaz · 19/02/2022 17:50

Had my scan was amazing the pics were really good. He tried to cover his face but sonographer gave him gentle encouragement and he moved his hands. And I was worried with me having an anterior placenta but it wasn't bad all in fact allot of photos he's cuddled up to it. Am so glad I went in the end.

Kittycaz · 19/02/2022 21:02

@MissM94 my LO was facing my spine but with some gentle nudging by sonographer was able to get a few good pics. Enjoy your scan tomorrow my boy is a mini version of my hubby x

fejkalove · 19/02/2022 21:55

Lovely to hear all your 4D scans are going well, I wish I'd have booked one now!

My DD has just tested positive for Covid so I'm freaking out a little Sad she's now isolating away but I've been with her pretty much constantly the last few days. My LFT was negative but think I'm starting to feel a cold starting...hopefully I'm just imagining it. Has anyone had it? Do you just let the midwife know?

Thanks,

YfenniChristie · 19/02/2022 23:38

@fejkalove I had Covid over Christmas, couldnt get in touch with my midwife so ended up calling the antenatal Unit. They advised to stay hydrated and take it easy. But if I was starting to feel worse or short of breathe to call them back immediately. I was lucky I had it very mildly.

Thank you for responding, glad you had it mildly but good to know as not sure how easily I'd get hold of my midwife.
I'm feeling incredibly emotional, it feels so unnatural to have my baby away from me whilst she's poorly (she's 11 but I'm used to having her cuddled up to me any time she's poorly for the last 11 years!) Don't think I'm going to get much sleep tonight for worrying that she's okay.

YummyMummyXoX · 20/02/2022 01:59

@fejkalove had Covid at 9 weeks off my son luckily I was ok, at this stage would let midwife know ❤️
I'm sorry your upset about your daughter I think we can all relate to how your feeling, your just trying to do the best thing for everyone including yourself and baby as a mom I hope your daughter has a speedy recovery x

Luckygreenduck · 20/02/2022 05:22

Morning all, awake with heartburn. I feel like our bodies are preparing us for a lack of sleep! Seeing lots of family and friends this weekend and loving showing off my bump but not enjoying all the body comments. I have stayed quite 'small' so far but can't believe the comments. So much pressure already to get back to my 'normal' size.

Kittycaz · 20/02/2022 08:43

@Luckygreenduck try to ignore the body shamers. Your bump is beautiful a sign you are carrying a life inside of you which is an amazing and magical thing. Wear your bump with pride. Yesterday I went for dinner in a pub with my DH and in laws as am not seeing anyone once I hit 30 weeks. And the amount of people who came up to me just to comment "that I shouldn't be in a pub in my condition" was horrendous. I was drinking orange juice for christ sakes. It didn't bother me, bothered DH more than me. Because I'm proud of my bump and the knowledge a little life is wriggling inside of it. X

SouthwestSis · 20/02/2022 09:11

@fejkalove I hope you're daughters doing OK this morning.
If you do catch it then you'll need to let your midwife know as they'll need to assess your risk for blood clots and you may need blood thinning injections.
If you've had your jabs then it shouldn't be anything much more serious than that.

Luckygreenduck · 20/02/2022 09:36

@Kittycaz that is horrible! We are pregnant not contagious haha. You can't win can you?

MissM94 · 20/02/2022 10:05

@Kittycaz aww how lovely 🥺 I hope mine is the double of his dad too haha I'm so excited! Roll on 2pm 😁 xx
