Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@SouthwestSis Thanks again for all of your advice and congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy! Xx

YfenniChristie · 20/02/2022 14:27

Afternoon everyone! How is everyone doing?

We've been for a 4d scan today. It was really lovely - heard the heartbeat for the first time and got really emotional. Baby insisted on having their hand in front of their face (again!) so the sonographer gave them some gentle encouragement to move and we now have some pictures of their little face!

However, we think the assistant accidentally let slip the sex. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Which is...fine but a little disappointing, especially after DH told everyone we spoke to that we don't want to know and we're leaving it as a surprise. There's still the possibility they're wrong but if they're right, it sounds like we'll be having a girl!

Kittycaz · 20/02/2022 15:02

@yfenniChristie oooo it's amazing seeing your little one in 4d right my boy was the same yesterday fists up like a boxer but we actually got some nice pics of him cuddled up to his arm. My sonographer did the same. I said to DH it's a good job we knew the sex before hand as sonographer gave us a crotch shot straight away then nervously asked us if we knew the gender. We said yes and he said "yes he's still a boy" 😂x

How'd yours go @MissM94 I hope you got some nice shots to x

YummyMummyXoX · 20/02/2022 16:31

Currently at a lovely boutique hotel, think I've earned it with all the hospital nights I've endured (even though they took really good care of me and I can't complain about the service). If only to try and get a good sleep and eat some lush food. Just wanna relax.
HD scan in 6 days I can't wait to see her so jealous of the ones happening this weekend! I know she has massive lips like mine and my flat nose we already saw those
I have a dinner and mocktails attempt next weekend (last time I went out I had a funny turn the staff had to put the ac on all come out and fan me and put cold water on me I then had to leave everyone just thought I was drunk I had a blazer on which disguised my bump. Booked a spa stay for my birthday in April and that's me done as I think I will be induced very end of April beginning of May.
Midwife on Tuesday, Heamatology clinic on Wednesday aswell as half term and this weather lol
I hope everyone and bumps are doing ok ❤️

MissM94 · 20/02/2022 17:15

@Kittycaz Honestly I'm a bit let down, got 56 pictures but only 8 of them are actually clear, my child was nose to nose with my placenta so had to keep moving on my side to have a get his face away and have a good look 😂😂 can't be helped but got to see his face so all good.. definitely not worth the £99 that I paid though! X

Kittycaz · 20/02/2022 18:12

@MissM94 bet it was still nice to see you LO's face though. I got 40 pictures and only 6 of em he has a smooth face rest look all drippy like a mud monster. I'll put up my favourite and most clear picture and one of the melty ones to show you what I mean 😂

I've just been to my GTT and the drink wasn't gross at all! Actually quite nice even. The wait was boring, but otherwise very uneventful.

I've started having heartburn in the evenings now, which is annoying! I'm surprised I haven't had it until now though, I sometimes get heartburn even when not pregnant, so was fully expecting to struggle with it in pregnancy too. Rennies don't seem to be doing much at all, but for some reason these rehydration tablets that you mix with water that I have have helped! I guess it's the sodium bicarbonate in them.

Milly1408 · 21/02/2022 14:33

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well! Has anyone been diagnosed with pregnancy related anaemia ? I’m 29 weeks and been feeling run down and breathless for a week or so and my blood tests show that I have low iron. I’ve been prescribed iron tablets, do any of you have experience with how long these take to work? Would be nice to know when I might start feeling more normal again, if that’s possible in the 3rd trimester 😄

MissM94 · 21/02/2022 14:55

@Milly1408 I got diagnosed with it after my booking in appointment so been on iron tablets for about 17 weeks and honestly I started feeling better more or less straight away! The tiredness was kicking my arse so I'd say I started to notice more energy after about a week.. I take Ferrous Fumarate twice a day, never looked back 😂

Honeymint · 21/02/2022 15:32

@Milly1408 Same here! I started to feel very lethargic a few months back and started taking Floradix (I have been prescribed iron but the midwife said to carry on with floradix first as it’s non-constipating)

I’ve had such an awful last 24 hours; I got a bad nosebleed at 4pm yesterday and although there were breaks, it basically kept bleeding badly all night and I ended up in A&E, then shipped off to another hospital as ours has removed the ENT department for budget reasons.

I was there until 7am in the end but I lost so much blood it was scary. I didn’t get to go see the maternity unit after but baby’s kicking up a storm anyway 😬

Writing it out it sounds so lame now, but it’s just been a scary time. I’m just hoping everything works out okay.

YummyMummyXoX · 21/02/2022 15:47

@Milly1408 i have a gestational blood disorder at the moment following my reaction to my first Pfizer I've now also become anaemic all my prior bloods were ok so these are all new problems

I've been taking the iron tablets for coming up to 2 weeks haven't noticed much improvement but have stopped them this weekend as sorry for the tmi I'm passing bloody stools and severely constipated even with daily laxatives. Im just going to do what I'd tell my patients, ramp up intake of iron and fibre in diet and inform obstetrics/haematologist. I hope you get quick results with yours and begin to feel better 💕

Come home to a tonne of hospital letters I've been copied in to re planning delivery current hospital have even wrote to consultant at hospital where I had my son almost 9 years ago to get advice, he had shoulder dystocia but they got him out super quick with no problems postnatally, no severe tears, no extreme blood loss, no broken bones after evacuation. Seems my daughter demanding the attention already lol x

YummyMummyXoX · 21/02/2022 15:53

@Honeymint sorry you have been unwell and at hospital glad your baby is being active. I hope you feel better soon and the bleeding settles down for you.

Hoping for the healthiest 3rd trimesters for us all ❤️

Kittycaz · 21/02/2022 16:58

@MissM94 you have a very beautiful baby such a cute nose. I keep looking at my pictures to becoming a but obsessed.
@YummyMummyXoX sounds like they are looking after you properly the hospital. Same to you. 10 weeks 4 days left Grin

Honeymint · 22/02/2022 08:15

@YummyMummyXoX
Thank you for the well-wishes and here’s to hoping for smoother sailing in the third trimester for us all!

I really recommend Floradix for iron, it doesn’t constipate like the tablets and it comes with vitamins B-complex and C to help the iron absorb.

MissM94 · 22/02/2022 09:01

@Kittycaz aww haha thank you 😩 so in love, can't wait for us all to meet our babies!

robyna · 22/02/2022 17:02

Haven't posted on here for a while! Booked a 4D scan for when I'll be 30 weeks so it's lovely seeing all of the amazing pics. Had my OGTT and passed out after an hour 😅 so dramatic. Awaiting results, anyone had theirs and can shed any light on how long it took? I've got a growth scan tomorrow so hopefully they'll know then and can let me know.

Milly1408 · 22/02/2022 17:09

@MissM94 that’s good to hear you started feeling better after a week! @Honeymint and @YummyMummyXoX thanks for your recommendations! I’m sorry to hear you’ve both been unwell, I hope you feel better soon! Not long now until our little babies are here!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 22/02/2022 17:47

Hey all. I got the call yesterday afternoon that I was just over the mark for gestational diabetes. I'm pretty bitter about it for several reasons:

  1. They scheduled a midwife appt for me in the middle of my wait, which seemed at the time to be an efficient thing to do; however, my BP was high so I got sent to the day assessment unit and forced to sit in an uncomfortable chair while they checked my BP every 15-30 minutes for 7 hours (the first two of which were the glucose test time span). I was incredibly stressed out over this, and high stress can skew the results. I feel like if I had just been left to sit bored with the other ladies my result may have been different.
  2. In my bad luck, I was coming down with a cold that day and felt pretty rotten by the time I got home. Apparently, illness can also skew results.
  3. I've done low-carb before. It is a very effective way to lose weight for me and I did plan to do it again after finishing breastfeeding; however, it is the least happy that I ever am. I always have a slightly uncomfortable stomach, I never want to eat the food in front of me (no matter how well prepared), and I'm always slightly (or more -- ask my husband, lol!) in a bad mood. I don't eat poorly now, but I do like to have a bit of carbs with my protein and veg, and I do like a bowl of Rice Krispies in the morning when its too cold in my kitchen to actually stand there and cook something properly.
I am prepared to do this again, but was hoping to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy and my year at home with my son before becoming, yet again, the miserable, salty b** that is me on a diet. I look back on the two times that I have dieted before (both quite successfully), as times when pleasure was placed on hold for months or years.
  1. And this is the big one, this is going to be yet another reason that THEY will use against me to try to push/guilt/scare me into interventions that I do not want to have unless there is a real (not just statistical) reason.

It is what it is, I'm sure they won't retest me but I am going to write in a complaint that they not schedule people for other appointments during the test in future. Of course I'm going to do whatever I need to do to take care of this baby in me. I'm just pissed to have this time ruined.

OK, rant over. Thanks for listening - had to get it out.

YummyMummyXoX · 22/02/2022 19:01

@Honeymint thanks i'm going to try a herbal supplement if doesn't come up as quickly as I'd like with diet I'm having my blood tested every week so I'll know pretty soon! The generic iron tablets routinely prescribed have a rock compound in them and shockkkk my body in pregnancy is struggling to break them down hence the bad side effects. Again baby diva lol.

Sorry you fainted @robyna hope you are feeling much better now I had my results a day or 2 later.

@Milly1408 I can't wait for cuddles and kisses let the next weeks fly by for us 😃

Sorry to hear about your experience @aNewYorkerInLondon I just wanted to send a virtual pot belly hug. Hope they respond to your complaint and you feel listened to then at the least ❤️

aNewYorkerInLondon · 22/02/2022 19:36

Thanks @YummyMummyXoX!

I know I have much to be thankful for, but these emotions are getting the best of me today. Thanks so much for listening. It helps!!

YummyMummyXoX · 22/02/2022 20:11

@aNewYorkerInLondon I totally understand to people it can seem like goodness me shhh complaining all the time but when your living it and it's your reality and your emotional and hormonal it's a different story. It's just insane how different each pregnancy journey can be for each woman. Xxx

I really do feel for you @aNewYorkerInLondon. I have mine next Monday and torn between wanting to eat everything now incase I have it and trying to be good in preparation for having it! Is the diet they put you on as strict as the ones you've done before? Definitely put in a complaint - I agree it's not ideal for them to have scheduled other appointments within the GTT, especially as they prefer you just to sit still so they can see how the body can really tolerate the glucose!
aNewYorkerInLondon · 22/02/2022 23:18

Thank you @fejkalove! I don't have my diet from them yet. I have to go on Friday for that. Will keep you posted.

GinnyBee · 23/02/2022 04:00

@aNewYorkerInLondon I'm sorry you've had a shit time, and now GD to top it off. I saw someone else on Facebook mention she was advised 30g carbs per meal, which isn't a lot but it's not nothing either. I was on a low carb diet for four years when I was younger, not for weight loss but more lifestyle, and it was the best I've ever felt. Maybe the diets you've done before were just too strict? I found low carb to be delightful (except for trying to find quick grab-n-go meals when out and about), but then I met my husband who can't get his head around not having carbs at every meal, and of course they're also tasty, so now I just eat everything, but still try to prioritise more nutritious carbs and portion control.

Doing this this again when I wake up in the middle of the night for hours. Although I was in bed by 8.30 last night so I've had a good few hours of sleep. Felt really tired and woozy all day yesterday, the kind of flu-like fatigue, and also noticed baby wasn't as active as he has been, so of course that set me off worrying. Sitting here I've felt a few movements, so probably no cause for concern, maybe me feeling a bit off meant he's having a quiet time too. I have a consultant appointment on Thursday so will get checked out thankfully.
