Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@fejkalove I am 26+6 (for the next 27 minutes 😅) and I feel like her movements are less strong in the last couple of weeks than they were around 23/24 weeks but I still feel movements often (when I'm not distracted). I wonder if it's that she is a bit more cramped now so can't move as much.

If you are worried though do call the midwife! Mine advised me if I'm worried to just take myself somewhere quiet for 30 mins/an hour or so and focus on it and then if I still feel worried after, call them. It's better to be safe than sorry x

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/02/2022 08:02

@fejkalove yes I'm the same some days it really worries me and I have called the midwife once to get some reassurance, she sent me to a day unit to listen to the heartbeat which was nice. I feel enough most days not to call again but this baby definitely seems very quiet! I think maybe she moves most in the night when I'm sleeping

Morning everyone. Having my gestational diabetes test this morning - had my bloods taken and now sat in the waiting room for 2 hours. Amazingly this is the appointment that has had my family and in-laws causing a fuss - Mam thinks I'll feel faint and is annoyed DH isn't with me, which caused MIL to feel I was being "abandoned" and offering to drive 3hours to accompany me here 🤦🏼‍♀️

Otherwise everything is going smoothly here. Baby's movements have increased during the day, and actually felt them kicking while stood up the other day! Our cot has arrived as well - DH set it up over the weekend, so the nursery is slowly coming together, just itching to paint it now.

fejkalove · 14/02/2022 09:14

Thank you @Hyggeandhugs @Sarah239 @Bubbasmama2017 I find myself poking baby a lot to wake her up, I can normally tickle her feet to get a movement haha.

GinnyBee · 14/02/2022 15:20

Been a while since I've been around. I check the forums daily but just haven't had the energy to say anything, been feeling a bit unmotivated.

@fattycatty82 Nooooo don't go! We like you here.

@aNewYorkerInLondon Definitely kick up a fuss over the property! They promised certain things and not delivered, I would withhold payment until those things get sorted. Unfortunately threatening to not pay, and in most desperate cases with legal action, seems to be the only way to get anything done in the UK rental market. Landlords and letting agents will promise everything but their word isn't worth the oxygen used to mutter them, nothing will happen unless money is involved.

Earlier this pregnancy I was annoyed about my anterior placenta and not feeling movements much, but lately they've been getting stronger and today my nap was totally ruined by being kicked from the inside, so I TAKE IT ALL BACK! In fact, if the placenta could just grow a little bit more still and keep blocking the kicks I would be very grateful!

Is anyone else getting weird spikes in heart rate for no obvious reason? Last night I was just lounging on the sofa watching telly when I thought my heart seems to be pounding out of my chest, so checked my fitbit and it was measuring my heart rate at 84bpm for just lying down? My RHR has been around 58-62 during pregnancy, so whilst 84 isn't outside any official normal ranges, it's high for me and it was noticeable. It stayed there for an hour or so and then calmed down again.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 14/02/2022 15:53

@fattycatty82, I am so sorry to see that you are leaving the May board. I agree with you that it has been and should remain a place of support. You are a wonderful contributor to the threads and will be much missed. Of course you didn't mean partners being covid positive and going into hospital! I agree that having birth choices (like home birth) would really make a difference in that situation. I'm making my hubs isolate with me as we get close, as I'm high-risk and should not deliver at home, no matter how much I'd like to. I hope that you might come back. I've always liked hearing from you. :-)

aNewYorkerInLondon · 14/02/2022 15:56

@GinnyBee - my husband is taking the lead on handling this, as he works in the construction and facilities mgmt industry and knows everything about remediation and such, and also because he doesn't want the stress to be on me. I have had quite a few cries this weekend. He's letting his inner pushy American out on this one. As they say, its the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

fejkalove · 14/02/2022 21:02

@aNewYorkerInLondon

Good morning, *@Sarah239*. I'm up too.

For me it's because yesterday we got the keys to the house we're renting, which was supposed to be move-in ready, only to find that there is a leak in the roof with active wet spots on the walls, the carpets haven't been steam cleaned, as the realtor promised they would be, and there's mold in one of the bedrooms and wet walls in another. We've had to cancel the painters we hired that were meant to begin at 9am today.

We understand that wall-to-wall carpeting is basically unavoidable in rental property in London, but we find it to be disgusting so we specifically asked if the carpets would be steam cleaned as part of the professional cleaning pre-handover and we're assured it would be.

We were also assured, before we signed the lease, that the owner was having the roof inspected and any repairs would be taken care of before we moved in. Now we're there and she says it'll be weeks before a leak in the chimney is fixed, and in the meantime there's water coming in when it rains! We cannot paint over actively wet walls and all that dampness and mold isn't healthy for anyone, much less so for a pregnant woman or a baby.

Finally, when we were looking at the house, the previous tenant had all their stuff in it so we couldn't measure. The agent said to just use the floor plan on the listing for the room dimensions. Those ended up being wrong, and now the room that was meant to be the guest room / my husband's office is too small to hold both the guest bed and his desk. Now I either need to make that tiny room baby's room and give up my hope of having a cot, chest of drawers, and a comfy nursing chair in the room, or we have to get rid of our very nice guest bed and just not have a guest room, or we have to put the guest bed in the nursery. I hate all three options!

I was sobbing last night. My poor husband was desperate to make me feel better but there's not much one can do at 7pm on a Friday.

So I'm awake.

Sorry to hear all the trouble you're having @aNewYorkerInLondon I've just caught up. I understand your frustrations with renting and letting agents. I had this a few years ago when I moved into my first home, I was promised the house would be painted to cover up any blemishes etc. We collected the keys and it was a mess, I was simply told that I shouldn't have been told it would be decorated and the carpets had been cleaned (they definitely hadn't - it was grim!) I think the agents just pocket the money out of the deposit if the previous tenant hasn't done so Hmm Anyway, I hope you get it sorted ASAP! I'm still waiting to find somewhere, starting to worry as I'm still with my parents but renting seems to be like the hunger games at the moment. Sad
YfenniChristie · 14/02/2022 21:15

@GinnyBee Could it be anxiety? Even if you're not concious is it? I'd monitor it and see if it happens again, and would possibly mention it to the midwife.

Kittycaz · 14/02/2022 21:34

@GinnyBee like heart palpatations? I've been getting em the past week. My pregnancy app says it's normal something to do with the heart working overdrive now we in third trimester but I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow so was planning on asking her x

Thank you @fejkalove! I hope you find a place soon. You're right! It is like the hunger games!

H0peing · 14/02/2022 22:45

@Kittycaz Thanks for sharing that image! Really helpful info xxxx

YfenniChristie · 15/02/2022 07:12

@Kittycaz Well I didn't know you could get heart palpitations! That's really useful to know.

Had a godawful sleep last night. Woke up with really painful acid reflux. Burning chest, burning throat, it was awful. Couldn't settle at all and ended up resorting to sleeping upright to get some relief. 😭

GinnyBee · 15/02/2022 08:36

@Kittycaz yeah probably. I’ve always imagined palpitations to be like erratic “flutters” that last a short time rather than consistent increase for a longer time but what do I know! 😂 pregnancy is such a wild ride that anything seems to be “normal”. It hasn’t happened again so I’m not worried, was just weird. Suddenly noticed I feel like I’m walking up a hill but sitting still.

Kittycaz · 15/02/2022 09:01

@yfenniChristie ask your midwife for antacid medicine. I had really bad acid reflux at night but they perscribed me a really strong bottle of Peptac peppermint liquid tastes gross but I take a spoon of it before bed and my reflux is nowhere near as bad.

YfenniChristie · 15/02/2022 09:48

@Kittycaz It's the first time it's happened, so really caught me off guard! I think it was triggered by a particularly rich dinner we had for valentine's last night. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have an appointment with the midwife next week and will raise it with her then.

Kittycaz · 15/02/2022 13:43

Hey ladies had my 28 week appointment today they measured my fundal height and I am measuring big by allot. I'm measuring 33 weeks. So she's booked me in for a growth scan tomorrow. Could be Im just having a big boy. But am really worried now this is gonna be the longest 26 hours of my life x

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 15/02/2022 14:45

@Kittycaz - sorry to hear that, it's not nice to hear the unexpected. If it helps, I've measured ahead by fundal height in all pregnancies and extra scans have shown a lot of amniotic fluid. Both DC were between 7 - 7.5lbs, and both more than a week overdue!

I'm now 28 weeks and have growth scans booked for 30, 32, 34 weeks as once again I'm carrying big.

SouthwestSis · 15/02/2022 17:15

Lots of talk in the news about the government removing access to free lateral flow tests very soon so worth ordering some in ladies for those who want to stay safe in 3rd trimester!

YfenniChristie · 15/02/2022 18:21

Was told by the nurse taking my bloods yesterday that I should have the results for the diabetes test today so have spent most of the day checking my phone.

Apparently "no news is good news" and considering I haven't heard anything, I'm assuming this means I'm in the clear. But it would be nice to have some sort of confirmation at least! I have my first growth scan on Friday, so wondering if I can double-check then?

aNewYorkerInLondon · 15/02/2022 19:40

@YfenniChristie, I think you're right that typically no news is good news. Does your hospital / midwife use an online portal such as patientsknowbest? If so, you might be able to log in there to see the results. Fingers crossed they're good!!

I had my test today. While I was there I also had my midwife checkup and my BP was high. I ended up having to spend 7 hours there at day assessment because it e we pulsant come down. They've increased my dose of BP meds and I have to go back next week. So annoying. I hope at least that my glucose test comes back ok. I don't want yet another thing to worry about. 🤞

aNewYorkerInLondon · 15/02/2022 19:42

*it wouldn't come down

(My phone's autocorrect does such weird things)

YfenniChristie · 15/02/2022 20:17

@aNewYorkerInLondon I wish we did but unfortunately it's all paper records here.

Fingers crossed your glucose test comes back ok!

Kittycaz · 16/02/2022 09:26

@RosettaTheGardenFairy thankyou that was reassuring. I know in my heart he's fine as he's been kicking away and tumbling all night. I think I've just got a big bump. I mean I am tall (5ft 10in) so maybe long torso has something to do with it. Now am just looking forward to seeing him later on today. I think I just panicked yesterday with having a previous loss.
