Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

Hi everyone sorry been trying to check in every so often but life has been a bit hectic! Still not feeling regular movements but something every day so hopefully that's ok... Anyone else with anterior placenta like that? Sometimes feels like she's really low down in my pelvis but the bump is really high up. Feeling like I'm waddling a bit now as well. Have also been a bit worried about the actual birth!
Want to start nesting and getting the nursery ready, I'm 27 weeks is that too soon? Keep thinking baby could be here in 10 weeks but that sounds quite a long time still!

@YummyMummyXoX I hope you're OK and glad your car seems fine. I have my GTT tomorrow too and have stuck notes in my kitchen reminding me not to eat anything!

Welcome @Laureatus and @Mumtobe0204!

I'm not feeling too anxious about the birth but then I know I'll be having a c-section and have had one before. My main worry is that baby will want to arrive earlier than the scheduled date and we won't be able to use nursery for childcare as planned, or DH will have to look after her.

Baby movements are really active now, I'm feeling kicks that sort of radiate down past my cervix, which isn't exactly painful but kind of weird.

I'm living in maternity jeans right now but my tops are non-maternity, either baggy tops I already had or in larger sizes. I wfh too so not making a big effort with style.

TashieWoo · 10/02/2022 06:40

Morning all, it’s been rather busy here and I’m just catching up!

Welcome @Laureatus and @Mumtobe0204!

@YummyMummyXoX sorry to hear about you having to go back into hospital (but not for as long as last time fortunately), sounds like they have a clearer plan for you and baby now though? And such a pain about your car, that can be fixed though just not what you needed.

@morphe thanks for the info about the GTT & good luck with yours today.

I had my 28 week appointment yesterday and my urine test was fine, blood pressure slightly high though so I’m going to get a machine so I can monitor it at home. The baby is also bigger than average as my measurement was 30cm, and it was 25cm at my 24 week appointment so she was always a bit bigger but the centiles are increasing. I’m a bit worried about it but the midwife wasn’t, she is on around the 80th centile though. Does anyone have any experience of this and should I follow more of a GD diet even though I don’t have it? I have always been a sugar addict but at the same time I do eat healthy meals with plenty of fruit & vegetables. There would be no harm in cutting down though I’m sure.

EastMidsGem · 10/02/2022 07:36

Morning everyone! I don't look on here for a couple of days and so much to catch up on. My GTT results came back all clear so really happy about that and I have not been light on the sugar so I'm surprised.

I have finished work now for holiday/maternity which hasn't really sunk in yet to be honest. So many people I know have now got covid and it's worrying me that you may not have to isolate soon if you have it because you just know some people with symptoms will still go out and spread it! Anyone else worried? Do you think it's rude to ask people to test before they come see me?

Sorry to hear that you had to go into hospital again @YummyMummyXoX I really hope your levels start to settle but glad they're putting a plan in place

Welcome @Laureatus and @Mumtobe0204 Smile

fattycatty82 · 10/02/2022 08:10

@EastMidsGem I don't think it's rude at all and yes I have the same concern. I've been very cautious about covid although this week I went out for a meal for the first time and even to the cinema last night although it wasn't busy thankfully. I started to realise that I wouldn't get the chance to do things like that with my partner once baby is here and as I'm tripled pfizered I do have some protection. However, I'll still be doing my best to keep my distance from people especially with the new rules and wearing a mask in shops/public transport

@Bubbasmama2017 I don't think it's too early at all! Do what makes you feel prepared and happy

Bubbasmama2017 · 10/02/2022 08:28

@EastMidsGem yes I'm worried about this too even though I only had covid a few weeks ago I really don't want to get it again and jeopardize baby or getting all my normal rights in labour/being able to have my partner stay etc

Honeymint · 10/02/2022 09:17

@Bubbasmama2017 I get the same sort of sporadic movements and also have an anterior placenta. Some days she really kicks but most I just feel ‘something’ a few times and have to make do.
My SIL had an anterior placenta and says she felt almost nothing until the third trimester, so I was expecting it but it’s still hard not to worry sometimes isn’t it?

@fattycatty82 A few weeks ago I did get a bit panicky about the idea of labour. I haven’t actually finished it but I read the first few chapters of ‘Hypnobirthing’ by Siobhan Miller and it really made me feel better.
(If you good and put .pdf after you can find free pdfs online of the whole book)

I’m also worrying about Covid but planning to find some nice restaurants that might be emptyish for lunches so I can go out a few times before becoming a parent.
So far I’ve caught two nasty bugs since Christmas and I’ve barely been anywhere or seen anyone. Nobody around me is coming down with anything so I guess it’s the lower pregnancy immune system thing at work!

Honeymint · 10/02/2022 09:21

*If you Google and put .pdf after, not good 🤦‍♀️

Also a bit TMI but is anyone else constipated as all get out? I’m on blood thinners and floradix and it’s wreaking havoc!
My whole life has become a carousel of salads, beans and branflakes but I’m craving burgers and pizza.

EastMidsGem · 10/02/2022 09:59

@Honeymint yes! 90% of the time I'm constipated. The other 10% seems to be the opposite because I've eaten something too rich or too much sugar. It's a nightmare.

I also have anterior placenta and I do feel movements every day but if I'm really tired or really busy I barely notice. Just the last few days I have actually felt him turning around or moving around in there which is a really weird feeling!! So I guess he's getting bigger and it's becoming more obvious. I am 28+3 though. Also I don't know a pattern at the moment other than he's more active in an evening than any other time of day. But the time varies and the movements vary depending on what I eat and when I eat

morphe · 10/02/2022 22:25

I've had the results back from my GTT and unfortunately I have gestational diabetes Sad. No symptoms and baby is measuring exactly on target so it was a surprise (although I'll admit I've not exactly been healthy eating since Christmas). I need to go back for a discussion on how to manage it, but from the NHS website it sounds like a lot of extra monitoring and appointments, with diet/exercise plan.

I'm also low in iron, and my thyroxine needs increasing. I've been feeling more tired lately, but assumed it was just the third trimester, so I hope it improves my energy levels as we have a lot to organise before baby arrives!

@Honeymint I find prunes are great for constipation. I chop 3 into my porridge every morning and I've not had problems since then. Will probably have to increase it once I start taking iron supplements.

SouthwestSis · 11/02/2022 05:22

Yes @EastMidsGem it's really worrying that our (excuse for a) government are dropping all protections against covid so fast, throwing vulnerable people under the bus.
I asked everyone I met indoors to lateral flow in my third trimester and didn't meet anyone indoors really from 38 weeks (and OH also reduced social contact & worked from home then) so we wouldn't catch it and have it affect my delivery.
I don't think its rude at all, it's just for a short time to protect you and baby whilst you are more vulnerable.

Sarah239 · 11/02/2022 07:43

@morphe I'm sorry to hear that. My friend had it and was able to manage it all with just diet. She said one silver lining was that she got to see her baby at scans every 2 weeks! I'd imagine it's a good sign you don't have symptoms and good baby is measuring perfect so I hope things continue smoothly for you :) take care! At least it's been caught and you can now be monitored.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 11/02/2022 08:08

@morphe, I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will be a mild case you can manage with diet. I have my test next week and I'm super nervous.

@EastMidsGem, I'm nervous too. I want to shout at people who say to get over it and that everyone is going to get it and it's not a big deal anymore. It's still a big deal to some of us for very good reasons!!

Thankfully, my work has given me an exemption to work from home until I go on leave because of the government's guidance on covid in 3rd trimester. My husband is working from home. So, we're hoping we can maintain some if the safety measures we've grown used to.

Today, though, we're going to tour a nursery near our new house. Crazy that the waiting lists are so full already for next year.
We also get the keys to the house this afternoon, so the nesting can officially begin!! We have painters starting tomorrow morning! And the baby shopping that's to come... 😉

EastMidsGem · 11/02/2022 08:13

Thank you all for making me feel better about asking people to test!
@morphe I'm so sorry your results have come back positive but as @Sarah239 says, I believe it is easily controllable so hopefully it won't be too difficult to do.

Wanted to let you all know after struggling to get hold of Emma's Diary packs, I got 2 of them yesterday. The expiry dates hadn't passed yet on the front of the packs but when I got them home and opened them, most of the vouchers had expired and so had several of the free samples. I emailed them and they are sending me out some complimentary samples. They just asked for a photo of the front of the packs (thankfully we hadn't emptied the bin yet!) so worth contacting if you have any issues

EastMidsGem · 11/02/2022 08:20

@aNewYorkerInLondon great news about the keys Smile my husband is having to work back in the office full time now but we are being very careful

GinnyBee · 11/02/2022 09:12

@aNewYorkerInLondon Oh gosh, I've half thought about nursery but haven't yet contacted any. All going to plan I won't be taking him until he's two, but now wondering whether I should start putting him on waiting lists already!

My main worry with covid now is not so much my own wellbeing, I'm very unlikely to have a severe illness after three jabs, but if we get it closer to my due date and then husband can't be at the hospital with me! Just makes me angry how Johnson is playing politics with people's lives. Most people understand the need for precautions, but he's trying to appease foaming-at-the-mouth right wing libertarians in hopes of gaining back some of the lost popularity points.

fattycatty82 · 11/02/2022 10:42

@GinnyBee well said. Makes me so angry too. Time he went 👋

@morphe sorry to hear that, it seems to be quite common as I've known lots of women who've had it during pregnancy. I think they just had to be really careful with their diet

Just three months to go now! Time is flying

YummyMummyXoX · 11/02/2022 10:45

Sorry to hear about your results @morphe my friend also had it years ago, managed to adjust her diet (i can imagine that's difficult to do in pregnancy with all the cravings) her and baby were fine. I'm so happy you don't have any unpleasant symptoms ❤️

Its insane to see a lot of ladies are 28 weeks + now on here , it's getting so exciting I can't wait to hear some birth stories from our group! I've been booked scans at 32+1, 36+1 and 40+1 (I'm hoping I don't make it to that one hehe) and also my hd scan will be good to see her a few more times 💖 xx

Bubbasmama2017 · 11/02/2022 11:57

Sorry to hear that @morphe

I haven't had the results of mine but I'm sure they said if they don't call you don't have it atm is that correct? I messaged my midwife but she hasn't responded (helpful!). I'm trying to take a few steps to eat better as with tiredness, still getting some morning sickness and generally being lazy my diet has been pretty bad too many treats and carbs! Aiming to not put on much more weight, does anyone have a recommendation for online workouts or eating plans? I want to start swimming but my local pool seems to be terrible for general swimming times.

Hi All,

I am new here and just need some reassurance.

25+1 weeks today and just been to the hospital for my FM check up. As baby was measuring small from my 20 weeks scan they have me back at the hospital every 1-2 weeks to monitor the growth.
AC is mearusing below 1% at 180 mm so Dr booked me in for another scan in 3 weeks times, however she said we might need to consider taking the baby out sooner :( if there is no growth on the AC.
Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation? Worries mama to be here! x

Didn't want to read and run: You might want to post on the main forum so it attracts others (perhaps those further down the pregnancy line) who may have experience.

Hope all goes okay x

MrsMay19 · 11/02/2022 19:01

Have been for my 25 week appointment today- have previously stated I’m not overly fond of my midwife- and asked if she had any of my previous bloods as have had no results from any previous tests (on my badger app they all just say non-applicable or not recorded) and she said she couldn’t see any and would need to chase it up. Then I asked about my screening for Edwards and Pataus and she said you get it through the post and I said no my letter only had Downs on it and she said she could find results but could see I had agreed. So I’m 25 weeks and you don’t know my blood type, baby’s blood type, placenta function, none of the screening has been done! I don’t understand how these tests were done 3 months ago and no one has picked up I have no results!

EastMidsGem · 11/02/2022 19:53

@MrsMay19 that's terrible! Can you ask to change midwife at all? I can't believe how little they've told you.

Kittycaz · 11/02/2022 21:00

@MrsMay19 that is shocking they should definitely know your blood type incase you are RH negative.
@EastMidsGem I'm the same with the covid situation, I'm seeing my mum tomorrow after we have both tested as I'm vulnerable with being in third trimester and my mums vulnerable with weakened immune system. I will definitely be asking people to test before seeing them.

Hyggeandhugs · 12/02/2022 00:10

@MrsMay19 That really does sound awful! Sometimes bloods aren't uploaded onto the maternity care notes/systems but might still appear in the central hospital system. Fingers crossed that'll be the case for you and they'll find them quickly... GPs can sometimes see those rogue results so maybe worth checking with them?

While I'm here... was just wondering when people were planning to start their maternity leave? Its my first and I'm really unprepared and so was thinking I might go on leave 1 month before, my c-section. I'm definitely not the type to get bored rattling around the house on my own, but does 1 month seem crazy early?
