Hi all I hope I've done this right.

@fejkalove just catching up I haven't noticed anything on my notes although my BMI is in over weight category too which was brought up by the midwife but they haven't seemed too concerned at scans. Let us know how you get on! I've got a growth scan on Monday as seeing a consultant so maybe they'll mention it to me then as well.

@luckygreenduck I've had morning sickness again too, when I first got covid last week my taste and smell went and the sickness seemed to go too but it's back with a vengeance the last couple of days!
Also been incredibly tired which I put down to covid but I think is just pregnancy!

@YummyMummyXoX, that sounds like a well-deserved treat! Keep us posted on how you're feeling. We're all thinking about you. :-)

Kittycaz · 08/02/2022 11:14

Ooo @YummyMummyXoX that's a bargain. Enjoy x

YummyMummyXoX · 08/02/2022 20:03

I'm home just bathed and in bed I'm absolutely shattered hehe
So the plan is to be induced so my bloods are decent around delivery haematologist, obstetrics and anaesthetist are making a plan and my son got stuck so increases the chances she may do too
Was offered a planned section I declined unless emergency.
Just going to try and take one week at a time, she literally will not stop messing about on a night so funny
Xxxx

Sarah239 · 08/02/2022 20:46

@YummyMummyXoX so glad you're home, rest well! Xx When are they talking about inducing you? I feel like I'm still in denial about how far away birth actually is 😅

@GinnyBee when you ordered things on JL, did they say they were In stock online but have in fact taken weeks to come? How long? I didn't realise there could be a wait if things were in stock... I have the 15% off code too and planning to make an order soon but still being indecisive!

Mumtobe0204 · 08/02/2022 21:14

Hi All
Can I join please? I am due on 15 May. FTM. So far everything is going ok, except for the fact that my legs doubled in size.

YummyMummyXoX · 08/02/2022 21:22

@Sarah239 thank you
Anytime from 38 weeks onwards see what the anaesthetist, haematologist and consultant suggest nearer the time ❤️

Kittycaz · 08/02/2022 21:46

@Mumtobe0204 welcome. I'm gonna be a FTM to x

fattycatty82 · 08/02/2022 22:45

I've had a meltdown tonight. No idea why but I'm feeling absolutely terrified about the birth. I've got a hypnobirthing course starting in March and an NCT course so I hope it helps me because otherwise it's going to be a hell of a long 3 months! I have just read the positive birth book too but I don't think I've ever felt so negative about it all 😭 anyone else scared? So many women seem really matter of fact about it all and I'm just such a wimp I am hating the thought of it 😢

Laureatus · 08/02/2022 23:20

Hi! Can I join? No 2 is due on 23rd May 😁 all going well so far it would seem, just extra exhausted running after our 2yr old who never stops or sleeps! Seen a lot of posts about buying things. We bought almost everything second-hand last time and it was easy. Our Snuzpod, bouncer, feeding pillow, playpen, Sleepyhead and Sleepyhead Grand, most of his toys and various other bits all second hand. I also got most of his clothes in the sales. I kept a spreadsheet so I could see how much we saved. We get a £500 pregnancy grant where we live so bought the travel system with that, and we bought a new Tripp Trapp highchair later because those are like gold dust. I'm looking to get the newborn Tripp Trapp attachment for it second hand though. I also got M&S vouchers from work which we used to buy our cot bed, which was a big saving. I'd definitely recommend marketplace etc as you can save so much! Just don't buy stuff for the sake of it, look out for things you know you want to get. Oh and if anyone's curious, I really recommend using cloth nappies. They've been fantastic and I can't wait to get the newborn ones out again and fully washed and ready.

Sarah239 · 09/02/2022 06:17

@Laureatus @Mumtobe0204 welcome to both of you :)

@fattycatty82 Is the hypnobirthing course an online/zoom or in person thing starting in March? I have found hypnobirthing really helpful for anxiety, we bought the prerecorded Digital Pack by The Positive Birth Company for £40 and slowly making our way through it. Maybe you could watch that before March? I found it has given me loads of self-belief and I'm less worried about birth now. What is it your most terrified about? Hugs!

thepositivebirthcompany.co.uk/digital-pack

The NCT course I had originally booked was cancelled yesterday for lack of interest but they have swapped me on to another thankfully.

SerendipitySunshine · 09/02/2022 06:43

Anyone else feeling really huge now? I just feel enormous and so frumpy. I think I need to make an effort with some better maternity clothes!

fattycatty82 · 09/02/2022 07:25

@Sarah239 I was looking at this course yesterday and so many people have recommended it to me, I think it's worth a try as the other ones don't start for another month, by which time I'll be a nervous wreck! I definitely have days when I feel braver than others. I just need a bit of courage and self belief.

@SerendipitySunshine I bought some lovely dresses on eBay in the early days but haven't worn them much as I work from home and I'm not exactly out socialising all the time at the moment. I am mainly just wanting to be comfy. But I do think it's important to have at least one outfit that makes you feel nice. I have a lovely dress and jumper combo from seraphine that I think I'll honestly miss wearing when I'm no longer preggers!! Having said that, I did pick up a few dresses in my pre pregnancy size in the sale last week with the hope of perhaps getting into them by the end of the summer... they're floaty and not tight fitting so hopefully will be ok

@Laureatus sounds like you've been very savvy with your spending. We tried to stick to a budget but Ive been terrible for picking up little extras. I splashed out on some lovely baby clothes in the sales in January thinking we didn't know anyone who would donate us bits then a few people we don't even know that well have given us bags of the most beautiful second hand baby girl clothes! So actually, this baby won't need to be seen twice in the same outfit until she's about a year old! 😂

SerendipitySunshine · 09/02/2022 07:47

You're right @fattycatty82 I need to start looking after myself a bit more. Not going out means I'm neglecting myself and so feeling a bit rubbish!

GinnyBee · 09/02/2022 09:29

@Sarah239 It said at checkout that the order would be split in two deliveries with the car seat expected in 2-3 weeks and everything else within 5 days. Placed the order on Friday and received it on Monday!

@SerendipitySunshine I feel enormous in my normal baggy clothes, like jumpers and hoodies etc. but when I chuck on some actual maternity wear I look a lot better! I read somewhere that that's kind of the point - maternity wear is designed to work with the bump and often highlighting it and making it look bigger even, whilst normal clothes will make the bump appear smaller but yourself look bigger. I also somehow seem to look better in tight clothing, against all expectation.

fattycatty82 · 09/02/2022 09:45

So funny about what I just said regarding baby clothes, a friend from round the corner wanted to drop off a massive bag of clothes for me this morning but I had to politely decline! I feel really bad now as she mentioned about it when I first found out I was pregnant, like five months ago, and I said that would be nice at the time but now I have way too many and have already done a few trips to the charity shop at weekends with things I'm not keeping. Oh dear should I have said I'd take them anyway? It's just I'm trying to de clutter and also the clothes weren't even her baby's but her friend and I think they were donated to her by someone else!! God I'm so ungrateful I feel riddled with guilt now 😭 she was just being kind

YfenniChristie · 09/02/2022 10:13

Morning everyone 👋🏻

Been a busy couple of days here. My sister and brother-in-law moved in with us over the weekend - they've brought a lot more than we expected even with loads going into storage. They're going to be with us until at least June, but I think realistically it'll be more like August. Rather enjoying having them here ATM!

I really need to pull my finger out and get some maternity clothes - particularly jeans and/or leggings. But having a hard time deciding whether to buy things in my current size or up a size, and nothing seems to be available in store.

Anyone else getting distracted by the baby's movements? Just as I started getting used to them mine appear to have moved from my lower left to being more lower centre and around the belly button area. Keeps catching me off guard when it happens now! 😂

GinnyBee · 09/02/2022 10:16

@YfenniChristie Get your usual size. The bump area is designed to stretch to accommodate for the growing baby, and the rest of the clothes are to fit your normal size. If you go bigger then it might sag all over.

TunaJacket · 09/02/2022 10:23

@Laureatus can you tell me more about cloth nappies?

Which ones do you like and what would you recommend looking for?

I get really lost when I start looking into them!

Laureatus · 09/02/2022 14:03

@TunaJacket it can seem quite overwhelming at first! We have used mainly all-in-one nappies (aio) from birth, so you put them on in one piece just like a disposable (and they can have Velcro or popper fastenings). So my son was in newborn size aios from birth to 4mo, then he went into 'birth-to-potty' (btp) size, which have adjustable sizing to fit most babies/toddlers until they potty train. So my son is now 2yrs 4m and has been in the same nappies since 4mo. A lot of people only do cloth from when they can use btp to reduce costs. In many cases newborn nappies will only last a few weeks so the cost isn't always worth it. I really recommend checking out the information on The Nappy Lady website, and they have a free questionnaire to recommend brands that might suit your child; it also does a price comparison of how much you can save vs disposable options, and gives you a discount code to shop with them. We've used a variety of newborn brands but our btp are basically all Motherease Wizard Unos (both new and second hand). Love them. The washing isn't traumatic at all, no need to personal or anything, items all done in the machine. I would recommend following a site called CleanClothNappies for washing instructions though.

Kittycaz · 09/02/2022 15:10

@fattycatty82 I've been bombarded with people's baby clothes. Second I told people in September as I'm the last in my friendship group to have a baby. I've been offered 6 breast pumps at this stage I politely declined majority of em and took the medela one as heard its the best one but brought new breast cups and bottles. I've had allot of travel cot offers to. But my family are buying travel cots for there homes for when LO wants to stay over. And the amount of clothes I've gotten is insane. I swear LO will be wearing a different outfit every 4 hours til he's 6 months lol.

Am feeling very positive today DH was able to put his hand on my bump for an hour yesterday and experience LO's summer saults and it was an amazing bonding experience. Having a fight with the gas company for the last week as an engineer came out to fix my gas meter last week (which has been broken since December so can't give em reading) said he couldnt do anything about it and just walked away. So been ringing them since and they said he put down he fixed it. But I got through to a nice lady today who actually helped me and said someone will come out in next few days to take a look. I played the pregnancy card to her and think she sympathised with the stress.

It feels like we near the home stretch ladies.

YummyMummyXoX · 09/02/2022 16:13

Soo this morning on the school run I got back to my car and was parked while waiting to go and someone crashed into the back of my car I just heard a crushing! I luckily checked my mirror to get reg as the driver just drove off. Was hoping to see the car at school today again but I didn't. My insurance found the details from the reg and balls rolling whilst waiting for them to accept or deny liability. Been to midwife to listen in and babies fine she's moved a bit less today but I feel reassured. Have GTT tomorrow so fasting from tonight and have bloods on Friday again.

Hope everyone is all good x

Sarah239 · 09/02/2022 19:01

@YummyMummyXoX oh God that's just what you need isn't it after the time you've had! I really hope the insurance sorts it out for you. Reminds me when someone crashed into us after our 12 week scan (no damage luckily). What state is your car in?

YummyMummyXoX · 09/02/2022 19:03

@Sarah239 my cars driveable and just scraped it must be strong because from inside it sounded like it was proper crushed. I'm just glad babies ok. Not good getting hit after 12 week scan when you've just been reassured seeing them. These babies are strong lol x

LS2020 · 09/02/2022 19:10

@YummyMummyXoX how worrying but glad you and baby are okay. Hope GTT goes well

@fattycatty82 I had my first antenatal class yesterday and can advise it does not make you feel better about labour 😂 I have the pregnancy and hypnobirthing pack from positive birth company too and can recommend though! I don’t feel like I feel much better about labour but I do feel more open to a caesarean so I guess that’s something?!

fattycatty82 · 09/02/2022 20:53

@LS2020 yes the more I learn about Labour the more open I am to a c section too 😂

I had a look at the positive birth company today too and downloaded the free affirmations MP3 it was pretty good. I hope it helps!! 🤞
